The Barnyard Venue - Perfect outside dining

The Barnyard Venue is an outdoor restaurant/bar and live event venue which offers outdoor dining…read morewith table seating with umbrellas on the spacious patio areas, a covered bar area with seating and a space for live artists/bands to perform their music. The patio looks very nice and inviting, and great place to chill and enjoy food and drinks and live music. It's located off NH 101 Exit 3 on Candia on the west end of the same property which also has the The Town Cabin Deli & Pub and Candia First Stoppe Country Store and truckstop.  The food menu offers a variety of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, lobster rolls,  fried seafood, pub appetizers, salads, chowder, chili, and a few desserts. The bar menu offers beer (draft & cans) and mixed drinks. The food is served on paper plates/containers with plasticware and non bottle/can drinks served in plastic cups. I stopped by The Barnyard Venue for dinner recently. I headed to the bar to get a menu to look over and sat myself at a table on the main patio in front of the performance area to watch a local classic rock band. There is also more seating on the opposite side of the building with plenty of room for more seating expansion towards the cornhole play area and the replica of the Fenway scoreboard. For food, I started out with New England Clam Chowder ($6.49 plus tax) and a Haddock Sandwich ($12.99 plus tax) with a bag of Lays Potato Chips. The big cup of clam chowder was not thick, but still had a creamy broth with potatoes & minced clams. I used the potato chips in the chowder. The Haddock Sandwich had a breaded fried filet of haddock on top of leaf lettuce, tomato slices on a thick toasted buttered burger bun, Ken's tartar sauce on the side. Additionally, I ordered the Barnyard Classic Burger ($11.99 plus tax) served with hand cut fries. The burger had a grilled ground beef patty topped with melted American cheese over pickled, red onions, leaf lettuce, & tomato slices on a thick toasted buttered burger bun. The golden fried hand cut fries were salted and firm. I enjoyed my food as the Old Gold Band played classic rock cover songs.  The meal check with tax and before tip was $34.14. The food here was pretty good tasting, though the burger and fries were not too hot. The service was laid back, essentially taking my order and dropping off things to my table. I did enjoy the feel good vibe here with the live rock band playing at dinner in the open air. This place felt less crowded than other outdoor dining venues in the area including that very popular restaurant & bar with the big outdoor deck on Mammoth Road in Manchester.

We have been new to camping this summer and this was the 4th campground we've been too and it was…read morethe BEST one we've stayed at! we usually do weekend trips so my one flaw is that we didn't book a longer trip because there is so much to do, we only have time for like 1/3 of it. We're already planning. Trip next summer for a full week here. We can't wait to come back!!

Let me start by saying I rented 2 side by side RV sites next to each other because the website says…read morefor large group tenting these sites are bigger and offer space for group tenting..my site hardly fit my tent and one other tent. I couldn't even put my screen house. Day 2 it rained which happens wouldn't have been an issue except the road gave away from above making 2 foot valley of water and rocks that slammed into my tent and caused one of the cars to only be on 3 wheels and another with the 2 ft ditch underneath it not being able to even drive out. when I went to the office to tell them they said " that's the risk you take when renting an RVtv site" it was NEVER TOLD TO US THAT SITE FLOODED OR THAT THERE WAS A CHANCE THE ROAD WOULD HAVE MADE A MOUNTAIN OF ROCKS SMASH INTO MY TENT. Also they put logs around the edge of the site that held in the foot of rain that accumulated soaking everything we brought. IT took 4 hours for them to come and refill the valley of dirt that gave way under the cars and they send 2 young girls with buckets to help recover the tent from the avalanche of rocks. day 3 during breakfast I look up and a golf cart was racing toward another 2 of our cars and slammed into between them causing damage to both cars. A 3 and 4 yr old decided to play in it causing this damage. Had the cars not been there the golf cart would have gone right into my daughters tent that had my granddaughter sleeping in it.. again the office was contacted and didn't even come to help the situation for over an hour. When they got there said " well things like this happen and called the police to file a report" They never once came and talked to us or offer an ounce of compensation. This campground is very expensive and canceled all activities because of the rain which I understand but could have rescheduled some of them the following day since we only paid to go to this place because of what they had to offer. The manager of guest relations was extremely rude and wanted nothing to do with anyone and sent the young assistant to me whenever I went to the office. They did absolutely nothing to make the situation any easier for any of us. I will NEVER EVER go back there. Why would they advertise large tent groups to rent an RV site if the sites flood??? Terrible experience never again!!

I love The Gilmore Girls and this inn makes me think that that's what the show's Dragonfly Inn was trying to capture- like the perfect New England B&B. Breakfast was delicious too and so welcomed after having to eat in airports for too long. The guys whipped up tasty treats for us and really made each night's stay feel magical.

The bed and pillows were divine, some of the best we have enjoyed a night's sleep on, and we have stayed in many fine hotels. Our walk-in shower was also quite wonderful. Even though breakfast was not included as part of our stay, all we had to do was walk around the corner to a bakery that offered espresso and breakfast items. My main complaint with our room was that we were at the front of the inn, which exposed us to street traffic (there was a fair amount of traffic for a small town!), but our room was also above their small private dining room. One evening the party downstairs didn't end until about 1:00 am. Talking and laughter woke me several times.

I figured we wouldn't get a refund. I understand with such short notice. I still decided to provide the courtesy of informing them we wouldn't be there. I did ask however, if someone picked up our spot would we get a refund? The answer was no. I asked, "so you'll make double?" This was confirmed. That is disappointing to me and a poor example of customer service. Like I said I understand not being refunded for the late cancellation, but it doesn't feel right that they would profit off of an unforeseen hardship by not offering anything in case the spot got picked up. Not sure I'll want to give them my business in the future. Beware- might be best to book this one very close to the dates you'd like to use it.

There was more space than we needed, and everybody felt spread out and. Comfortable. The house was so well appointed with everything we needed and clean. The house is very old so the stairs Creek and the radiators rattle in reminiscence of my grandma's house, which was so endearing. the hot water works amazing and the beds every one of them was comfortable clean, and the rooms were dark and air-conditioned.
