What a cute chocolate shop! Although I had a hard time finding it nestled within The Shops at Riverwoods, it did not disappoint once I made it! Immediately upon entering I was hit with the fragrant aromas of sweets. This location was well stocked and had a huge selection from fudge, truffles, to ice cream. I specifically came here for their caramel apples, but everything looked delicious. The service was impeccable and I was in and out with my pecan caramel apple. They offered to cut my apple for me, which made for a great mess free sweet treat. The apple itself was thinly coated in their house made caramel and the coating of pecans perfectly cut through the sweetness. While it's not as local as the name may seem, this chocolate shop doesn't disappoint. They have a great selection of chocolate/caramel artisanal treats. Our favorites are the caramel apples (they'll cut then up for you!) and the truffles and we always snag a candy coated marshmallow on a stick for our little boy. I came in October 18th right before the store closed to get a caramel apple.. the girl that was working was counting money with gloves on and then asked what we wanted. She had no intention of changing her gloves after wearing them to count money. I asked her to change her gloves before grabbing my apple and she rolled her eyes. Who doesn't love chocolate! I especially love the chocolate covered cinnamon bears. I discovered that they offer dog bones made from white confectioner coating which is okay for dogs unlike chocolate. You really cannot go wrong with your choice of chocolate treats locally made. read more

Rocky Mountain chocolate did not have the thing I needed to order through DoorDash. Which was assorted chocolates. Instead of talking to me and seeing if I WANTED a substitution, they put chocolate covered read gummies (gross) in the bag and charged me the same. Where I come from that is called a bait and switch which is a con job. They said it was a mistake, however, the employee told me that they were instructed by Door Dash to make the substitution. The manager said differently, so I'm unsure if this is a miscommunication or a common practice to help the bottom line of the restaurant at the expense of their customers. Whether this was done locally by the manager (who really took no responsibility, Expecting me to drive there after getting delivery to fix the problem. Then said that they were not issued to bring refunds to people because of insurance. In my day you would fix your problems. They Only passed the buck to doordash) Whatever, I will not do business with people who think that that is morally OK To either disregard the customers wishes and decide what they wanted or to bait and switch and charge you money for it. I like their chocolate. It's in the riverwoods so... you get great customer service because generally... you are the only customer in the place. They have a great variety of chocolates, fudge, candy apples... other things that I can't think of right now. The prices are a little bit high, but when you are in a jam and can't make your own little treats for a house warming gift... this is your place. THE VERDICT: This is a nice establishment and the only thing that is going against it very much out of the way. They have excellent caramel apples and caramel pretzel sticks. However, I have given it a 2 because they are called a chocolate factory and...well, there chocolates are barely okay. They are bland, the flavorings inside should stand out and they don't. If you were blindfolded, you wouldn't even know which flavor you were tasting. I also like the fact that they will cut it into slices for you are going to eat it in the close future. Their treats are delicious...their customer service...not so much. Ordered $400 worth of treats for a company function. They were very disorganized on the phone, and when I went in, it took over 15 minutes to get anybody to talk to me....at which point, they give me completely the wrong order. I visit this particular RMCF two to three times a month. It's my "go to" place when I have guests in town. Not only are the treats worth it, but the customer service is second to none. As for the sweet treats, well let's just say I don't know if they could get anymore delicious. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is RIGHT on my way home from work and I stop about 3-4 times a month. It has become my destressor. I get an Apple Pie dipped apple for my wife, the one with the white chocolate. I also grab a Rice Krispy treat or two for me and the kids. I'm a hero when I walk in the door at the house, and a frantic day just melts away like it never happened! The girls are awesome there. They're so friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs.
