This is my family's current favorite spot. Fresh and well-prepared food, good service, and great drinks. The rotating beers from local microbreweries are a welcome touch. Greenbush, Bare Hands, etc... Flatbreads and burgers are excellent, and they also have some excellent pasta and chicken dishes. The salads are amazing, very fresh ingredients. It can get a bit busy on the weekends, but we have always managed to get a table after a reasonable wait. read more

Excellent food with a changing seasonal menu. Great appetizers and drinks along with 30 or more beers on tap 6 or 7 of which are rotating taps from local craft brewers, so there is always something new to try. My wife loves the chicken pot pie and I am pleased by the range of vegetarian options. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu but occasionally there are small lapses, appetizer and entrees arrived within moments of each other. read more

The restaurant was suggested by a co-worker. We were very open to try what I thought was a somewhat "gimmicky" concept which is the farm to table. Very loud, poor acoustics inside. The duck nachos were tasty but other than that the dinner plates were nothing to write home about. read more

This was our second meal here, and our last. We went on Christmas eve, a party of 6 and were celebrating our son's 24th birthday. Service was good, although our server was a tad condescending for some reason. We have reason to believe my husband and I contracted a food born illness there that night. Over the course of the entire day, the only food that we had consumed, that not one else had, was the Italian deli meat on the Charcuterie board. We were the only ones who got sick and considering the rest of the party had been staying with us a few days and remained well, I doubt it was a virus bug. Our Christmas was ruined. I had sent the last 7 months battling breast cancer and was so thrilled to have both my adult children, and their significant others, with me for the holiday and it was all destroyed. My husband and I ended up in the ER at 4 pm on Christmas due to dehydration. My daughter contacted the manager the next day, a day or two later, and emailed after New Years. NO ONE bothered to even get back to her. She specifically said we want nothing in return, we spent over $200 that night and were not looking for a refund, simply and acknowledgement and apology. The fact that no one contacted here, after several attempts, leads us to believe this is a very poorly run establishment that only cares about the bottom line as opposed to it's customers. We will never set foot in there again and have been relating our story to others. read more

Let me start by sharing that this is one of my favorite restaurants. My wife and I eat here more than twice a month, sometimes twice a week. The food is great, the service is good to awesome, and the prices are usually fair. Ordinarily, we get sandwiches with the occasional dinner entrée. I've been trying to eat healthier lately, so ordered the salmon special. When the server gave the specials for the day, I made a note that she didn't give the prices. No big deal, there was a salmon entrée, on the menu, and a salmon entrée as a special, how much different could the price be right? Lets just say I had some serious sticker shock when I got the bill. The salmon entrée was north of $30 for a 5 oz portion. That was more than $10 more that the menu option, or nearly 50% more. It really seemed deceitful that they would not have shared that before ordering. It was my mistake, and I smiled, paid, and tipped accordingly, but buyer beware on the specials. We will continue eat at Rocky River, and my 5 star review was reduced one solely because of my single bad experience. I fully anticipate updating this review in the future. I am not a foodie, but I love food, and the food was good. Just deceitfully overpriced on this particular occasion. I sincerely hope this was a one off. read more

Not worth the money, expecially the grown up mac and cheese. Bacon was way over cooked and had three very small pieces of sausage on top. The boat it came in was so hot I almost burnt myself. No mention from the person that brought my food of "be careful the plate is hot!" read more

Great service.....the food was fair. The turkey bacon loin was dry and had little flavor, the grown up grilled cheese had little flavor. The fries were cold and were not fresh. The wine and beer selection is good though. read more

Great location and fun to be at, but they gave up on vegan options. That's really disappointing. They had some brussels sprouts and cauliflower options before removing them. Now basically nothing but fries maybe. They had some honey options that were improperly listed as vegan before. That wasn't good, but at least they were trying. It's not really hard to do good vegan bar food. Hopefully they'll add some options back to the list soon. It would be nice to go back. read more

Small plates sliders, each made from a different meat, all tasted the same. Service was slow. They can't transfer a bar tab to a table. The hostess thought one of us left and canceled us from the wait list. Lots of space and tables in bar area for additional seating, but all tables were occupied and there was a 45 minute wait. read more

I'm a big fan of all of Kurt Janowsky's restaurants (Cafe Navarre, The Exchange, Matterhorn), and this place is no exception. I've only been here once, but I loved it. The service was really wonderful and welcoming-- we were a pretty large party and they took wonderful care of us. I loved the duck nachos and the short ribs (and the bite of the chicken I had off one of my dinner companion's plate was excellent as well). The food was pretty good. We had the duck nachos as a starter. They were tasty but not particularly imaginative, mostly regular diner nacho ingredients with some duck. We moved to sit outside to get away from the omnipresent tv screens throughout not only the bar it also the restaurant. It's distracting when you're trying to have a nice meal. We have had several dinning experiences here. Honestly they vary quite a bit. This time I had the bison burger. It was great. As many of us are I am trying to watch fat intake. Bison is a great way to do that but still get to eat a burger. My wife had the tuna lettuce wrap appetizer as her meal. It was only ok. She ended up trading me some of that for some of my bison. I generally love tuna, but this was meh. Their beer selection is pretty fantastic. There is always a rotating selection of good craft beers. Their liquor selection is good too. I ordered a Manhattan. For $9.50 for the drink it was way over priced. The liquor to cost ratio was poor. Will I go again? Probably. But that is because of the lack of diversity of places to eat in the area that are not chains. It is a sold three star, but does not knock my socks off. read more

Nothing really stadns out food-wise after three visits, nothing extravagant, exciting, just.... kind of boring. It is a nice place with a lot of variety and good plates, but they can't book a steak. It was ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. They tried to correct it and it came out medium well, again, as much as the GM tried to "sell" it as medium rare. They tried to fix it so they should be given credit for the effort and the rest of the meals we good. Great dessert....chocolate pretzel something ala mode. read more

I've been to Rocky River several times and have always enjoyed it. My son loves the home made mac and cheese with sausage on top. I typically like their salads, with the addition of shrimp or grilled salmon, but this time tried their swordfish special. It was grilled to perfection and accompanied by asparagus spears that were perfectly cooked. the selection of beers from regional brewers is quite impressive. I highly recommend a trip to Rocky River for your next outing. read more

Terribly dirty. I came in with some friends for drinks, and there was crusted food all over the floor under tables in a section that hadn't yet been opened for the day, and the tables were set. This would indicate that this nasty food had been sitting on the floor under at least 3 tables since the day before. I would not trust anything coming out of the kitchen, if this very minimum standard of cleanliness has not been met. read more
