Adult fries, kids' pulled pork slider and kids' macaroni and cheese.
Ashleigh P.

This was our first visit to a Mission BBQ and wow! For a two-dollar-sign restaurant on Google we did not expect this level of deliciousness. Everything we ordered was excellent, and even my picky toddler was scarfing it down. We all got some variation of a shredded meat entree with sides. The BBQ sauces were all interesting and distinct, with our favorite being the Smoky Mountain. The service was great. We had a few changes throughout the order process and the cashier took it like a champ and didn't miss a thing. For four of us, it was around $60, which is more than reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Their overall theme is support of veterans and service members. We visited on July 3 (they're closed on the 4th) so maybe the patriotism was just in the air but their uniform and helmet decor, veteran videos on the TV, and early-2000s post-911 country songs had us buying in 100%. My husband, a former Marine, even took a bumper sticker to support them all the way back to Michigan. With that being said, based on their staff and clientele, they are happy to host everyone and all feel welcome in their restaurant. Absolute 5-star experience, we will be back the next time we're in the area

Kids turkey slider with fries

For my first time here, just to try, I got the kid's turkey slider with fries and I tried 1 of each of their 6 sauces Fries were definitely fresh cut (not frozen) and delicious. The turkey was very good as well. My favorite sauce was the Texas Twang. More than half of their sauces are a bit too black pepper-y for my own personal liking or taste. Meaning they have that overall black pepper taste, which to me, can overpower the other flavors in the sauce. And then its a black pepper taste ending too left in the mouth. Gonna come back and just get the turkey by itself, Texas Twang sauce and work my way thru trying some of their sides! Very friendly and fast service!

My husband's team went there for Juneteeth, and they were so awesome and treated all the soldiers. We even stopped to salute the flag. The staff was absolutely positivs energy and engaging, making sure everyone was doing well. A lot of places use military team as ads, this place really showed respect and went above and beyond! We basically covered all the meats in my family of seven. All was flavorful and moist, and the corn bread and banana pudding was awesome. Highly recommend! Secret tip, they have a kids menu not posted! So if you got tater tots, ask for the kids menu!

If you aupport the military you need to come to Mission BBQ. The food is good and the decor honors militRy,Police and Fire We chose ala cart pulled pork and Brisket. The cool part is that they asked if you wanted wet(fatty) or dry. The wet wss good. The pulled pork was good.It was a little dry but the flavor still came through. We would definitely come baxk when we are in the area. Taste 7/10 Quality vs cost: 8/10 Presentation 8/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10 +++ total 43/50=4.3 =4 star

Veteran friendly, community active, and dang good bbq. Can't say enough for this place. This place cares for the community and gives back. The service is awesome, from person at the counter to manager to everyone. And bbq, it was good!! Pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, and the Mac and cheese so good!!!!!! The ambiance in the restaurant is an old school bbq house, dedicated to those who've served. Thank you!!!

Hubby was here once before and this time we went together. Very good food! We both ordered the 2 meat sampler. I had pulled chicken and pulled pork. The Texas sauce was my fave. Hubby had the turkey and ribs. The ribs are really good! The cornbread was decent, better with butter. I make a killer cornbread and am, admittedly, fussier about others. This is one of the better ones out there. Hubby is in love with the baked beans. I thought they were ok. Just too sweet for me. More like a chili. I did eat all of mine by using the really good French fries. The staff was courteous....and fun. It was all very clean. We will certain visit again!

This is one of my favorite barbecue spots in South Bend. Or rather I should say misha waka indiana. There are not many to choose from, so it doesn't make it difficult. But the reason I enjoy mission , barbecue or other places does not necessarily come down to the quality of the meat or the taste of the barbecue sauce. Mission barbecue is indeed on a mission. And what they do is fully supported there veterans and first responder community. My husband who is a veteran of the United States. Military for 24 years often has events to support other veterans and mission barbecue does the catering for free. You heard me, I said that right, for free. He hasn't asked them too many times to do this because he doesn't want to spread them too thin. But the fact that they have been willing to do this at all. Really speaks to the mission that they're on. You can fully experience this when you walk inside the building. And you see all the photos and regalia from all the different branches of service as well as the police. The fire department and all the first responders are represented as the decor in the establishment. In addition to this every day , at twelve , they do a rendition of taps in honor of the memory of fallen soldiers and those who have served and gave the ultimate sacrifice. This is quite touching and it's rare when I go in there at this time. Where I don't sprout a tear or two or have a quivering lip, and I find it remarkable how many of the people stand up with their hand on their heart to honor this tradition. And if you're going through the line in ordering your food, you can tell them you're a veteran, and they usually give you a big a** brownie for free or some kind of dessert that makes your mouth water. And it's all just to say thank you to those who serve. You really can't go wrong coming in here. Even if barbecue sauce is your thing , they have a cat and sports six different kinds of barbecue sauce to pretty much satisfy anybody's palate. Oftentimes, I mix 2 or 3 to make a barbecue. Sauce slurry and that works out just fine for me. So come in, pay your respects, get respected and return and enjoy your meal. And if you're a veteran, thank you so much for your service!

This place…read moresomehow turns barbecue, a cuisine built on patience, care, and flavor, into an expensive lesson in lowered expectations. The meat arrives dry, tired, and joyless, like it's been reheated emotionally as well as physically. Each bite feels less like a meal and more like an obligation. Smoke without flavor, seasoning without purpose, and textures that make you wonder if the kitchen has ever experienced moisture. The sauces don't enhance anything, they just sit there, confused, desperately trying to distract you from the fact that the food underneath is beyond saving. For the prices they charge, you'd expect something memorable. And it is memorable, just not in the way they're hoping. You'll remember how much you paid, how little you enjoyed it, and how fast you wished you'd gone literally anywhere else. This is the rare restaurant where you regret ordering while you're still chewing. The atmosphere tries to sell "rustic farm charm" but delivers "neglected barbecue joint that mistook vibes for effort." It's not cozy, it's not charming, and it certainly isn't worth planning a meal around. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. The Prized Pig isn't just bad barbecue, it's aggressively mediocre, which somehow feels worse. If you value flavor, money, or happiness, do yourself a favor and keep driving. This is not a destination. It's a warning.

I got the ribs with fries and macaroni and cheese. The ribs came with a couple containers of bbq sauce and that sauce they make is so good it definitely made my ribs even better than they were. I think the price was about the same as other restaurants near by and the amount of food you get was a good amount I was pleased by it and so was my uncle. It looks very clean there and the wait staff was friendly.

Besides that--I hardly have much of a demand, I just want to know if my burger comes with a patty or is just brisket, as it wasn't very clearly indicated in the "burger box" Super disappointing at such a price point/location. I expect more than being visited twice in nearly 30 minutes and only getting the response of "I don't know" and "I'm not sure" I left after taking two sips of my beer, and was chased out by some manager who FINALLY acknowledged us, only trying to get paid for the single ounce of beer that I consumed, as well as two sips of (warm)unsweetened tea that my grandmother had. It's not often I leave without paying, but if you're not going to acknowledge me and cant be at least a decent host, I'll just be on my way before i get too far in. When you charge $20 for a burger, I would think the service is matching that level of quality. Yes I would like a follow up, too. Because if you got my grandma following me in agreement, there's an issue. Really disappointing, probably won't make the stops like I used to. Place appears to need some quality help.

My husband was planning and hosting his family reunion and neglected to order the catering, Monday before the reunion. At the time everyone was experiencing supply chain and staff shortages, it was going to be a challenge. To the rescue, I emailed Donna, even though Fisher's Tips and BBQ were closed, Donna emailEd back immediately. Donna put me in touch with her husband Rob and he helped me figure out what we needed for 35-40 guests. I ordered the ribs, rib tips, chicken, chicken wings, Mac and cheese, beans, potato salad, coleslaw and corn bead. Everything was fabulous, the ribs and tips, were fall off the bone tender and moist, with beautiful carmelization. The sauce is incredibly flavorful, the chicken was very moist, not overcooked or dry. The Mac and cheese was the best, made with real cheese not plastic velveta. The beans were excellent not canned baked bean. Our entire family raved about everythin and each family that was not flying requested leftover. We have been doing the family reunions every two years for many years and everyone said this was the best ever. I fixed a plate for the hotel receptionist and she said it was the very best BBQ she ever had. She mad sure I wrote down exactly the name because she wanted to refer other guests. I am so happy a grateful to Donna and Rob were able to accommodate us even at the late dat. They are the old fashioned Mom and Pop typ of business owners that care. I highly recommend Fisher's Ribs and Tips for all your dining and catering needs. Thank you so much Donna and Rob.

I have not yet had the pleasure of trying anything off of Fatbird's normal menu. I'll try to keep this review quick since it is pretty specific but long story short, we loved the unique and well made food and the service and vibes were great! So while Fatbird is known for their chicken sandwiches, my bf and I ordered the $40 lunch for two from this special 2026 menu, which was heavily indigenous Latin American-inspired in the ingredients. For the starter, we shared 8 sweet plantains slices which were yummy but we wish we had more. Then for our main, we split one grilled jerk chicken sandwich with VERY unique ingredients like a pickled green tomato as well as two creative tacos with tender shredded pork and more pickled veg. The tacos were spicy as heck and definitely not for the faint of heart! Lastly, we split a small bowl of arrow con leche brule, which helped bring the heat down from the tacos. While we didn't leave full, we had fun trying a curated and very unique set of dishes with interesting flavors, textures, and spices. The other 4 people we ate lunch with ordered a variety of stuff from the normal menu, some of which are in my attached pictures. My bf also ordered himself a pineapple tepache to sip on, which was $8, and I got myself a diet coke with lemon ($3). Our waitress was on top of her game and was very friendly. The interior is cute and spacious and the bathroom is cute and clean. I love a clean bathroom! Their normal menu has 8000 things I want to try next time! As for this special menu lunch, we paid, after tax, tip, and a credit card surcharge, a total of $67. A bit high for lunch, but good vibes all around!
