CANDY. In bulk!
Sofia S.

I had no idea this place existed until a bespoke gentleman friend of mine turned me on to it. Did you know this is also where ALL the candy corn at Theatre Bizarre comes? Pretty cool, imho. This store has an excellent selection of dried bulk spices and ingredients. I like the wooden decor and the colorful bins of bulk candy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fun to browse!

Just s sampling of the tasty treats that can be found at Rocky's!

Best salted peanuts in a shell. So fresh and tasty. Large array of nostalgic candy. Friendly service. Clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Ask the Community - Rocky's Historic Eastern Market

Does rocky's sell better made chocolate covered chips?

Yes! They had a whole pallet last year. I am heading there today for some, as they just were released for the season :)

Do they sell roasted peanuts in bulk, say 10 lb. bag, etc.?

I did not see any bulk items.

It's one of my favorite stops, I know they'll have any off the wall spice, herb, salt, flour that I could ever need.

The store is clean and well organized and the employees are friendly and helpful. One of the best things is you can try/taste the cheese. Ask for a taste of a particular cheese you are interested in and an employee will cut the cheese and give you a taste. If you go to Eastern Market, give DeVries & Co. Cheese shop a try. Nice selection of cheese and sauces and gifts in 3 floors.

Definitely a cool stop in (or near?) eastern market in Detroit. It's 3 floors but the one you…read moredefinitely want to check out is the first. They sell edible goods local, foreign, and basic. The problem is that everything is somewhat to grossly overpriced. The local stuff sure - for example, I paid $2.50 a piece for Bev's Bagels (decent, nothing compared to mid tier NYC bagels but better than the vast majority of what you can find in southern Michigan). But for basic (or even foreign) goods it seems ridiculous to buy here instead of a normal grocery store or one of the myriad ethnic shops around. The real star is the cheese selection. They don't have much out, but they have a multi-page list of what they have in stock and they are both knowledgeable and generous with samples. I picked up a really interesting 12-year aged cheddar and tried a few others. There are always a couple of samples out but I've found them unexciting. They have an equally impressive list of meats but I haven't had the chance to explore those. Take the original (and super cool) elevator up to the second or third floors and you can find all kinds of knick knacks from lawn ornaments to Detroit gear. I'm not sure if it was a sale or not, but the last time I was there I picked up a decent quality t shirt for a mere $10. Overall it's a cool store and definitely worth checking out, but unless you're looking for a particularly rare cheese the likelihood of finding anything worth purchasing is slim.
