When I say dirty, I mean disgustingly dirty. The rugs must be from the 1970's and haven't seen a vacuum since. The surfaces of the furniture were grimy and the floor in the bathroom hasn't seen a mop since the flooring was originally laid. I'm so disappointed as I read some recent reviews that were positive about the place. For $90 a night, I was hoping for a little better accommodations. I never learn. I want to add that there is a terrible stale smell, probably old cigarettes, that has permeated my clothing and my sinuses. Gross. read more

Everything could be improved. The building is literally falling apart with caution tape on sections of one of the buildings where our room was. The furniture is mismatched and looks like it came from garage sales. It was the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Room was non smoking but everything inside was yellow. We had a good experience here in the past so we decided to stay here again since we came to town for a show at the casino. This time, we stayed in the newer non-smoking section that is connected to the lobby. Once again, the room had plenty of room for us and was very clean. The shower had great hot water and the water pressure was awesome. The free hot breakfast in the now-standard scrambled eggs and sausage, dry cereal, a sampling of fresh fruit, yogurt, and a waffle maker. Coffee and juice. The star of the show is the biscuits and gravy! Don't pass it by! The casino-run shuttle is no longer 24 hours/day so be sure to check out the times they run before you go out. The mattress and pillows were a little soft for us, but that's a personal preference. There are no USB ports for device charging, so make sure to bring your adapters. No, this is not a five-star or even a four-star hotel. But for the price, location and the fact that it met our needs, I have rated it as I have. read more

We booked a block of rooms for our wedding, for some of our guests as well as ourselves. From the first call through our whole stay, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The front desk manager Kelly was extremely accommodating in helping with pricing. The hotel and rooms are on the older side, but are CLEAN. Beds were very comfortable. All our guests that stayed were very pleased and happy with their stays. Great hotel for a great price and a bonus is the bar in the basement! read more

Affordable and convenient. We've stayed here a couple times - usually when the Inn at Charles Town is booked or not open due to Covid 19 in this case. Front desk staff, Brandon and Dwight were always quick and efficient during this stay. I left my phone charger behind and Dwight called me after I left to tell me I left it. I thought that was nice. The hotel rooms are clean. The bathroom has a jacuzzi During our stay, we went down to the bar downstairs - It feels like you're going back in time in the bar - some older folks, lots of smoking and they even have about 7 or 8 slot machines too. read more

We took my parents to Rodeway Inn & Suites and stay Fri night. Great place to stay. We do not smoke and had a great night stay. Love the Turf bar downstairs with delicious food, drinks, great variety of music, sports on TVs, and slots. The staff were friendly and helpful. So far I like it!!! It's old and reminds me of the 90s it's clean too surprisingly! I can walk bare feet! I called to ask if there were rooms available. The receptionist asked me if I'm local? I was thrown off at first because I never had a hotel ask me if I'm local. I said uhm no why? She said we don't let locals stay. I asked why? She said just because, but once I got there, she explained why and I understood. She stated that "it makes the business look bad if people are loitering around usually locals tend to do that". Also, They have free masks and free mini hand sanitizers available which Hollywood inn don't even offer to their guests. Also, 6$ wine and 4$ beer for purchase. It was highly quiet when we were there. What's even good about Rodeway inn is that They have a jacuzzi spa bathtub with heated lamp light in the bath room. wow! I like this place so far compared to Hollywood inn. I will stay here more often. This time there were no drunkies/junkies or racist guests staying in West Virginia! I was close to booking a room at Hollywood inn, but I'm glad I didn't. Plus there were booked for the night. They have microwaves/refrigerators in the room too. Not sure if there are shuttle buses that go from here to the casino and back, but if there is they deserve a 5 star! read more

The stay was nice and the front desk ladies were awesome, but the breakfast gal was horrible! The ONLY table facing the television and the door not only did she sit in it but 1) put her feet up and 2) when I asked her if she was going to be long as employees usually aren't allowed to take over a dining room for customers especially if they put their nasty feet on the furniture. She told me to F*ck off and turned the volume up! WOW! Great employees there! I make sure I tell EVERYONE at my bar AND the American Legion NOT to stay at the Rodeway Inn so NOTHING goes into her paycheck! If you so Julie, avoid! Best hotel! Best stay! Best staff! I believe the old hotel had a different name (Turf Motel), but this place is really better than a motel category. They have jacuzzi room and the room is big, clean, comfortable bed, plus complete with microwave and refrigerator. The back of the room is facing a big field with some trees. There's a saying that you should look at a lot of greens before you start your day. So I look at the trees and the field before I start my day. Here in NY I look at my plants. That works too. Anyway, back to Charles Town... The hotel is operated by a wonderful family. If you happen to stay here, you too will be treated like a family. We had the opportunity to talk to the entire Marcus family. Very lovely family! They work hard, treat staff wonderfully and super helpful! Their staff members are the same hard working people. We also met a staff named Sara who has been working for the family for more than 60 years. Wow! Amazing! History in the making! Our room was absolutely beautiful and clean. The hotel smells nice and fresh and the lobby was decorated perfectly. We were blessed and happy to have encountered amazing people in Charles Town. This makes us want to revisit and learn more about the town. This hotel has the best location, right next to the casino and the hotel provides free shuttle service to the casino. Also it's located in a busy road. Free breakfast and good coffee is a plus. The restaurant in the building is a bonus! There's a coin/jewelry shop in the lobby and if you don't want to eat and shop you can go downstairs to have a drink, listen to music and play slot machines. The lounge has a pretty big bar. Go say hello to their friendly and sweet bartender, Hope. Plenty slot machines for everybody, go play and try your luck. You never know! read more

Location convenient, room was clean and worked well for us with 2 small children. However, the owner of the property was absolutely horrible from the moment we checked in. She was very nasty to us about extending our stay in regards to having to change rooms. She refused to move us into a larger room, accused us of smoking right outside of another person's room, and made us have the cleaning ladies come in on our 3rd day with no other option, and continued to harass us about it for 2 days. We were out of town and needed to stay for a total of 5 nights, but on our last night she not only told us we had to check out and to cancel the reservation for the night but then threatened to call the police on us if we didn't. She was rude, and nasty, and treated us as though we were hardened criminals. This all happened while my husband and I stood there holding our 2 babies. We will never ever stay at this hotel again because of the owner, she was very verbally abusive! She needs to be put out of business! Travelers beware! read more

When I arrived to check in, I noticed a fire on the second floor covered balcony. The receptionist standing outside smoking , was also observing it. As we check in, I notice it's a grill in use and our room is directly underneath this. As we are getting items out of our car, a glass beer bottle is then dropped and shattered from above. I asked to be moved to another room and was told there was nothing available to switch myself and my family to. I then asked to speak to the manager and informed them I was contacting the fire department, as this is unsafe in an occupied building. The management does not value customers or follow any common safety procedures. I'd highly advise spending a few more dollars and staying somewhere where you will not be concerned with your safety. Haven't been to Charles Town in over a dozen years. Hubby was feeling nostalgic and wanted to stay at the Turf Motel (Now Rodeway Inn). Leary, I booked it. When we arrived, I was wanting to run away. What had we gotten ourselves into? Check-in was fine. Couldn't find our room even though the front desk showed me a map that made absolutely no sense (I was tired from driving so I will blame myself). We stayed in an outside room apart from the main building. So I was really wanting to run but once we got into the room, settled down and looked around we determined it would be safe to sleep here. For the rooms to be so outdated, the really were cleaner than some of the nice hotels I have visited. Wish I would've known about the casino shuttle while we were there. So the bottom line is that this motel is nice for the price. read more

Front desk agent (whose name escapes me) was a model of hospitality; he seemed genuinely happy to have me as a guest! 24/7 shuttle service to casino best thing since sliced bread! Wish I had eaten at Turf Lounge on property instead of Alfredo's Mediterranean Cafe (separate review).
