Service is horrible. My father (75) started at this dentist back in March, he was supposed to get a partial denture replaced. We are in August and still there was no progress. Because my father is older, I didn't want the dentist taking advantage of him, So I asked my dad to let me help and see what the issues are and why it was taking so long. Monday morning my father and I show up at the office 10am. No one is present so wait until someone comes in. Erica shows up but is handling a personal matter and is unable to speak with us for the first 15 minutes we waited in the office. We finally speak with the Dentist, and he informs us that the pre-authorization he submitted was denied and he has no reason behind it. He said he tried reaching out to the insurance company but he said no one could help him. So I told him to provide me with copies of what he had submitted and I would do the footwork to call the insurance and figure out why it was denied and what needed to be done. The Dentist made it a point to tell me he KNEW how to write so that it will get approved and that we had nothing to worry about. After speaking to the insurance department, they said there was no supporting evidence provide as to why the other methods were not sufficient and that there was a less expensive procedure than what he was requesting. Tuesday, we show up at 10:20 to meet with the Dentist to go over our findings and get temporary teeth while we waited on the appeal. However, No one is there. at 10:30 the Dr comes in and says he is still waiting for his employees to show up, but that we can wait in the lobby. He begins to sit down and tell some story about where he went to school and I interrupted him saying, excuse me, but we have already wasted some time here, im not trying to be rude, but I am not here to hear his life story, I was there to help my dad. His employee who was supposed to help him was still not there and it was 10:45. So he asked to see what I had and I went over all my findings an asked when the appeal was submitted. He said it had not been submitted and was sitting in his car. I then asked about incorrect service dates, why he was saying a tooth was extracted when it was previously extracted according to the insurance records. Again he said he does not deal with the billing, but that it could be possible he listed the wrong tooth, OR that he extracted what another Dentist left behind. I was not happy with the responses I was getting, and I no longer wanted to wait for his employee to show up either so at 11am, we requested the Dr no longer work on anything, that we wanted copies of all billing, and a refund for the deposit we put for work never completed and was not even in the process of an appeal. We let him know we would be taking this to the dental board, and to our insurance company. His exact words were "I am not afraid of the board" At 11:30 there was a knock at my parents door, it was Rodolfo Burquez, standing there at my parents front door step. He proceeds to tell me he has a solution to get my dad some partials by tomorrow. no cost to him. That he wanted me to know he took no offense to me saying we would be taking this to the board but that he just needed a mold of my dads teeth. I asked him to confirm no fees would be charged, that no additional x-rays would be completed that no additional fees would be applied. He confirmed no. Having the dentist standing at my parents front door just irked the hell out of me. But because my dad had no teeth and it was a possiblity to get them tomorrow we agreed to the mold. My father went to the dentist alone that time, and of course Dr. Burquez somehow managed to get more x-rays. I immediately went to the office and asked why additional work was being done and the dentists reply was I needed to correct the x-rays for the appeal. I told him, I can not believe that after he left my parents home and said nothing else would be completed except for the mold that would be free of charge and did the exact opposite. After a few days of dealing with the Dentist, I came here to yelp and began reading online reviews. Which helped me see this Dentist takes advantage of the elderly, he tells people they need more work done than they actually do, and he recommends services not requested by writing fraudulent information in the claims in order to try and get them approved. He delays things so that he can charge additional cleanings, ask for more x-rays all so he can have his corvettes delivered to the office and roll around in his range rover. After 4 years with Dr Burquez's office, we will not be returning and will no longer refer him to my friends and family. We were very happy with his services at first, as we were happy to hear, year after year, we had no cavities. Finally, I needed a root canal. During the proceedure my endodontist discovered a deep cavity that was on the verge of becoming a root canal. The endodontist put it in his report, but Dr. Burquez never mentioned it. When I brought it up, at my next appointment, he seemed annoyed. Dr. Burquez only took xrays the first year, claiming he didn't want to expose us to unnecessary radiation. We just recently got new dental insurance and were assigned to Dr. Burquez's office. It isn't close to our house but we travel the distance for an immediate appointment need for my daughter. This doctor is the WORST! Been coming here for more then 10 years. Such a mess in the front desk. They wait until the last minute to see if your covered by insurance. Went 3 times to give me the same answer. The doctor was 50 min late. After he got there he wanted me apologize to his staff because I was angry. I will not apologize and never will. Anyone would feel the way I did when you've been trying to get seen for 2 weeks. it's not like he's the only dentist around this area and it's not like he's the best dentist in this area either. this is suppose to be an emergency visit but it took 2 weeks for me to get seen to say I wasn't assigned to this location. A few years ago, my son received the worst Dental Work from Uptown Dental in Whittier. He went from loving the dentist to completely terrified. My husband immediately switched providers and was recommended to Dr Burquez from a gentleman at his union. Last week my son was in a lot of pain and the Receptionist ,whom were extremely nice , super sweet and was able to squeeze in my son same day. I love Dr. Burquez! I'm from NY and finding a new dentist wasn't easy; I've been going to him for over a year now and have already gotten so much done at such a reasonable price. His schedule is very flexible with my work hours so I'm able to see him when I can. He stays late if needed which is always a plus when you work during the week :) He always prescribes me medication for my gums, which is unlike any other dentist I've ever been to; keeping your gums clean/healthy can be a chore sometimes and he recognizes the importance of it. I love this man. Plain and simple. My daughter has been so afraid of going to the dentist ever since she was 3, she is now almost 19. Dr. Burquez and his staff made her feel comfortable and eased her fears by sharing his own dental experiences. He really took the time to get to know us and find out what our needs were. I had been told in the past that I needed deep cleanings, he told me no that I did not and that my teether were great and that I didn't have any cavities. Dr. Rodolfo was checking my teeth in the sitting room instead of sitting me on a dentist chair, first of all. He pressures you to do treatments, and pesters you to tell him what day you can make an appointment. My mother has also had similar experience. He wanted her to do a 700$ procedure... she's getting a second opinion.. also just because your insurance covers a treatment, doesn't mean you need to do it, if you do not need it. I've gone to Dr Burquez a few times now, for root canals and fillings and crowns. Sure, the wait time is a little long, but that's why I play poker on my mobile device. Free wi-fi! The doctor shows a real interest in me and my family, and he gives me great options on what to do about my teeth (a disaster for him to inherit from my previous lack-of-dentist). All the doctors who have worked on me there have done it painlessly (though the x-ray slides hurt a bit) and I've been happy with the results. I can't say anything but wonderful things about Dr.Burquez dental office. From the very beginning the customer service we received from him and staff was great. They have always been very attentive, professional and they make you feel very comfortable. Most importantly they are very friendly and are never rude. We first met him when we were looking for a kind kid friendly dentist for our daughter when she was only 2 years old for her 1st check up. Our daughter is now 15 years old and Dr. Burquez still her only dentist she's had her whole entire life. She gets her teeth cleaned and some preventive maintenance done on her teeth. I really like that Dr. Burquez does all the work for her. Like many people I am terrified of the thought of even coming to the dentist, but Dr.Burquez kndness make my experience be a breeze. Even when he gives you the shots he tries to make it as painless as possible. We used to live in Whittier, but later we moved to the Bay but we still continued to travel 500 miles to keep Dr. Burquez as our dentist. Now that we've moved to Washinton D.C we still make sure we fit our dental appointments with him when we come to California.  We are very happy with his care and his work. We enjoy his kindness and attention he gives us. Maybe we are a little extreme traveling from cross country to see him, but anyone who's had horrible experience with dentist will undersrand. I've had unecessay work done that damaged my teeth. I would never want my daughter to experience what I went through, so we chose to travel the distance for his exceptional service.  Dr. Burquez is the most caring, pleasant friendly and honest dentist you can find. I would Never recommend Dr Burquez. After spending about $10,000.00 on vaneers dental work, I was having trouble with bite. He grinded down so much that metal from the bridge looks like a cavity. He said I would have to pay for bridge because I asked him to fix the bite due to the inside of my mouth hurting and teeth biting inside of cheek. It is upsetting due to the fact that I already paid alot, and could not see how much he was grinding. He literally laughed and said it would make it look like my own "real" teeth. May '21 took my 85 year old Mom for new dentures. Was told she needed custom dentures to fix her bite. In almost 6 months we only rcvd 2 phone calls to come in. One phone call was a message they left to make an appointment & when we did they thought she was a new patient, they never even checked their records & had to drag her in. It took disputing their service with the credit card to get them to call me back & say that they had the dentures. After I yelled at him, he offered to hand deliver them to my mother. Of course, he didn't, wanted us to come in to get her teeth cleaned. Their office is a mess. No one returns phone calls, even their voice mailbox is full at times. I was stupid enough to pick up the dentures & sign that they were ok, finally in October. I called back less than 5 days later because they hurt her, she couldn't close her mouth, and the bottom dentures kept falling out. Never received a call back until again I made a dispute with the credit card. I am now stuck with $2,500 dentures that are useless as we are using her old one. Credit card has since sided with their office because of my signature. They are the most unprofessional medical office I've ever been too. My mom has dementia & I understand she was difficult to work with. If we had to go back 15 times in that 6 months to get it right, I wouldn't have a problem. Going to have to agree with Cynthia R's review. I've come up with this crazy idea that appointments aren't really useless. It's actually necessary because regardless of when you show up there will always be a 2 hour waiting time. So my suggestion is to make an appointment no matter what or find a different place. They ain't changing people! Regardless of the 2 hour wait time, I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Maybe their pleasant disposition is set to provide compensation for the lack of timeliness, but I rather enjoyed them regardless. The dentist who did do work on my teeth was awesome. She was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. Because of her impeccable service and the staff's customer service, I can't say I will be searching for a new dentist any time soon... maybe I'll buy them a clock for Christmas this year. read more

I am a cash patient and I went in for a check up. I was told I needed a root canal. He told me it would cost about $650.00. Which was a lie. Most of all, I was terrified of the thought of having to get a root canal. I went to another dentist (Whittier Dental Group/Boyle Heights) and found out my tooth filling was broken and the decay was not near the root of my tooth. I did not need a root canal. I needed a new filling. l was so hurt that I put my trust in this man because he has the title of a Dr., money vs. integrity. I would not recommend this place for serveral reasons. One, the girls in the front are un-professional and have a look on their face like they don't want to be there. Secondly, I went for my teeth cleaning(again) and the lady working on me was barely even touching my teeth with the little brush. I use to go here for over a year and at first it was great. He had this awesome hygienist who was wonderful but after he left everything went down hill. The dr doesn't look at xrays, or exams the teeth well. I was told I had no cavities, to which I argued I saw a cavity. I was told no. Then suggested maybe I needed a root canal if my teeth hurt. I switched dentists right after. And now at my new dentist, they took 18 xrays and they looked at everything from my roots to my teeth and they found 7 cavities! 7 freakin cavities and some were big cavities. No this is unexcepable. When you have an exam there should be more done than just observing from a distance and looking at an old xray and chart.
