But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. Importantly, the team worked efficiently to stay on schedule and were fair when an unexpected issues arose, providing clear solutions. The final result is exceptional, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend ATOZ to anyone.

They have some safe guards for covid like a plastic curtain to separate the staff from us, but otherwise precautions seem un existent. Things are very organized and the variety of utensils vary greatly, but the variety of each utensil is mediocre. Meaning you can find mostly anything you want but not in every size and color. We found a nice teapot, julienne peeler, cooling rack, and some ladles. Everything was fairly priced but they only had one peeler and it was on the pricier end when we compared to nearby stores. Given my extensive inherited and elsewhere sourced kitchen equipment, utensils, tableware, it's not a place I'd ever purchase anything in those categories. For example, I'm fully stocked in enamel coated cast iron cookware, although it's nice to check out their Le Creuset selection. (Important to me since I've completely stopped using non-stick cookware.) If you follow my reviews, you may be surprised I'm also not in the market for a fully automatic espresso machine that costs over $4K! (To be precise, list their exclusive Jura Z10 for $4299.95 plus tax. Wow! Glad William Sonoma made it a better deal by shaving off that nickel - which amounts to 5 now obsolete pennies.) I was looking to purchase two items and struck out on both. First item: a 10-inch Heston pan (to replace a much-used one in my kitchen). No dice. They have sets of two or more but you can't just buy one, so I was told by the snippy guy who "helped" me. Strike one. Second item: a SodaStream replacement cylinder. I brought in the empty one and asked about purchasing a new one. They said they're "having problems with the supplier -- nobody can find them anywhere." This was the same story they told me 4 months ago. At that time, I was able to purchase one around the corner at the hardware store. Again today, I was able to easily get one at the same hardware store. My question: why lie? Clearly it is not difficult to get these cylinders, they're available all over the city. Yet WS continues to give customers this bogus excuse. They really should just fess up that they don't want to be in the business of selling these things. WS is still listed on the SodaStream website as a cylinder refill supplier. They should be removed from that list -- and they should just send people around the corner when they ask. It's the decent thing to do. I'm finished with this place.

In addition, they charge 3.5% if you put payment on a credit card AND they only give you a contractor's discount if the bill is put on the contractor's account. No other place charges for using a credit card or places restrictions in order to get a contractors discount. Did not use them.

Upon delivery I opened all the outer boxes to make sure there was no damage to inner boxes and order was fulfilled. Outer and inner boxes were pristine. My tiler, as he began project this week, discovered more than 18 sq ft of tile were broken inside the inner boxes. Totally unusable. Extremely poor packaging for porcelain tile. I called TileBar customer service immediately to ascertain possible solutions or a refund on damaged materials. Her response was we can send you ideas in 5-10 days, rush order not available. Then deliver alternative tile in another 5-10 days, no rush order. No discount. No refund, not even partial one as apology for crappy packaging. Customer service, Nora, repeatedly told me "company policy". I asked how to file a complaint about packaging. Nora said that wasn't an option.
