Was so excited to try frog legs and really wanted to love it. But sadly the food was a flop. The restaurant itself is located in a side off the bustling Saint German de pres. The wait staff was very nice. But the food was just plain meh. We ordered many dishes to share: - endive salad, it was ok, very heavy cream sauce with a lot of blue cheese - escargot, it was not what I expected and did not love this - fried frog legs, the legs were such small pieces dunked in a lot of breading which I ended up removing! - eggplant toast, this was good! - dorade fish, did not taste very fresh with a very bland cream and fennel purée - razor clams, was not very fresh and very sandy (clearly did not clean it very well) Overall, the food was a total miss for me. The service and location was great.

Excellent. Almost like dining around 80 years ago. From service to wine no complaints. The lamb chops were the best cooked to a medium that you never get anywhere else. Frog legs delicious. We booked on the day but I'd book ahead as it was very busy.

When in Paris.... Gotta have some frogs legs right? So honestly the frogs legs here were pretty damn good. The steak frites was eh. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing. Anyway... if you want to try some frogs legs...

Very hidden restaurant, but I highly recommend coming. I ordered 6 escargots, caramelized ribs, and crème brûlée. It was my first time trying escargots and they surpassed expectations-- highly recommend!! The caramelized ribs were also super delicious; the meat was juicy and tender. The crème brûlée was pretty disappointing, wouldn't order it again. Staff was nice

Excellent service and a delicious meal! Definitely recommend the frog leg starters. The chicken main dish was fantastic! 10/10 from me

We had dinner at Roger La Grenouille since my husband and I were craving frog legs . This was one of the best dinner in Paris . The food was delicious, the frog legs were so good especially the lemon and garlic sauce . My son had the dry aged meat which he said was not bad but too small. Our waiter was so kind and helpful and friendly. Hope to have a dinner there again .

The food is awesome, our waiter was great, came in at 20:00 and got a table right away. Escargot is brilliant and so savory. The frog legs are a MUST. You just want to sit there and suck on them all day long lol. The dessert is unbelievable. That's your 3-course meal right there.

3.5 - not quite a 4. We ordered the escargot, sturgeon pate, beef tartare and frog legs. escargot was not bad... 3.5 sturgeon pate was average....3 beef tartare was very good although the salad came with it had way too much vinegar...almost inedible..... 4 frog legs was not bad... 3.5

This quaint little place is a vintage gem. I had watched a ton of YouTube videos and added this to my Paris must see list. Tucked in a small alley it was the perfect spot for a non touristy end of the day meal. Frog legs are a must try - I'll let you wrestle over which style to try, and the fried sandwiches are perfect. Totally worth a visit.

We went to Paris for about a week and we're excited for the food. Out of all the restaurants we went to, this was the BEST. It's a quaint restaurant in the Latin Quarter. It felt like it was hidden as it was in a small street. We had a reservation and were quickly seated. The restaurant only had one waiter and he was excellent. He spoke English and French and was patient with me as a I tried using my beginner's French to order. We ordered a red wine and an old fashioned. We made one order of the snails, fried frog legs, pork ribs, and hanger steak. My husband is a picky eater and was skeptical about the snails and frog legs, but after trying them he helped me finish both plates. We talked about the frog legs the rest of the trip and ordered them at other places. Nothing compared to Roger's. Everything was savory, well-seasoned, and filling. The only thing I regret is not making a second reservation for a later day. I already recommended this spot to friends and will def go in my next visit.

Such a cozy spot that I found through a blog. We had made a reservation online but it didn't seem to go through and we didn't receive a confirmation email. We went at 7pm on a Monday and were seated right away even though our name was on the list. The food was great. A solid choice was the escargot in the garlic emulsion. I wanted to bathe in that emulsion!! Also unique was the frog burger. The bun was quite different with almost the texture you get from gluten free bread (but in a good way haha). Sadly, they were out of the duck hot pot by the time we ordered (we were the only other table and were there when they opened for the day)... we spied on the other table and they had ordered three of them... not sure if when making a reservation you should put that you want the duck. We got the steak instead and though it was yummy, I probably wouldn't get it again. It almost had the texture of a hamburger patty... was perfectly cooked though and had great flavor... just wasn't my favorite. There was an egg on it which was lovely. By the end, we were too full for dessert although the chocolate cake with passion fruit sounded amazing! Loved the romantic feel about it and wacky little frog paraphernalia.

On a tiny backstreet in an alley of an alley, you'll find this narrow little restaurant. You'll know you're in the right place when you see the frog-themed decorations. The front entrance on the street will be locked; you actually have to enter through the side entrance. Somehow, all of these little touches keep the place grounded, humble and endearing. You forget that this is a world-famous establishment and that thousands before you have trekked the same cobblestone streets to eat this famous French dish. When we sat down, we received complimentary handmade baguette pieces, which were delicious and nice to munch on as we contemplated the menu and the international graffiti on the walls. They have a lunch menu, but it DOESN'T include frog legs. You can order their signature frog legs at any time of day, but it's the same price. In other words, no lunchtime discount for frog legs. The small portion of frog legs "Classical" Provençale came with sliced garlic and parsley and buttered rice. It was delicious and balanced. Nice, buttery, and juicy, with flavorful seasoning. For dessert, we went for the rhum bhaba. Delicious and strong on the rum soaking! Topped with a heaping serving of whipped cream and flecks of vanilla, this dessert was prepared for us the quickest of all dishes, despite being ordered when there were the most customers in the restaurant. Great experience. Historic, fun, and not stuffy at all.

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.

We headed to Chez Janou, a Paris institution. I hadn't been in years, but my son insisted we go back because, according to him, they have the best chocolate mousse in Paris. Judging by the lineup, half the city; and every tourist with an Instagram account showed up. Thankfully we had a 2pm reso. Here's the thing, though. Everyone talks about the mousse, but the food deserves just as much attention. I'd also forgotten how much I love the 3rd arrondissement. Wander a few minutes from the restaurant and you'll find beautiful art galleries, a gorgeous little park, and some of the best boutique shopping in Paris. It's one of those neighbourhoods where you accidentally walk 15,000 steps without realizing it. Now, here's your game plan. Start with the escargots or the gambas to share. For your main, order the farci provençal or the foie de veau. The farci is like a French version of a stuffed pepper: yummy comfort food with a southern coast twist. As for the foie de veau... I actually ordered it by mistake. I thought I was getting regular veal. Out came veal liver. Best mistake of the day. I love liver. My mom makes an incredible liver and onions, so I'm a tough judge. This was outstanding. Rich, buttery, perfectly cooked and perfectly salted. It was so good I immediately texted my mom and told her she's coming here the next time she's in Paris. Drum roll, please... The chocolate mousse. Was it worth all the hype? Yep. There are no fancy swirls or little artistic desserts here. A server simply walks over carrying what looks like a white industrial-sized bowl of chocolate mousse and casually drops a mountain of it onto your plate. Everyone grabs a spoon and starts digging in. It's wonderfully French. Simple. Unpretentious. Ridiculously good. So yes, Chez Janou lives up to the hype. But don't just come for the mousse. Come for the lunch, stay for the neighbourhood, and spend the afternoon getting happily lost in one of the best corners of Paris. That's a Friday well spent.

When he brought us food or drinks he nearly dropped it on the table and quickly sped off. Some other servers seemed nice to other guests, so maybe we got one on a bad day but still we felt really upset and uncomfortable with how we were treated, there is no reason for anyone in the service industry to be so rude especially when we were being so polite. You also get blocked into your seat, and are very close to other guests which is fine but you have to call the waiter to pull your table back out to get up or to go to your seat- to which they begrudgingly do so. The beef bourguignon was tasty, but we did not like how both my and my friend's order were brought in the same pot. This resulted in us having maybe 3 tiny potatoes each and not near as much meat as we hoped for. We were expecting to each have our own dish. This was certainly not worth the 36€ per person price point (nearly $80 USD for the one pot of food), and we left the restaurant still hungry and extremely upset and disappointed by the service. Overall I would not return or recommend.
