We took our truck in for repair. Over 6K$ later the original problem still exists, so 1) not enough testing of their fixes was done. 2) some of the dials involved are not secured and press inward now. And the main one 3) which is totally irritating, is that we were sent a bill a month after we paid in full and picked up the truck. "Oops we missed a part on your invoice. You owe us this additional 176$". Now the way I run my business? A customer pays and something was missed on our invoice? The owner eats that cost and then trains his employees better so it doesn't happen again. But no, 175$ is insisted upon. Which will only buy him a bad review from us. About three years ago, on the way to Sequoia National Park, I stopped at a friend's home and parked for the night. Lo and behold, I got up the next morning and found out my catalytic converter had been stolen. My insurance company directed me to Roger Voigt's. He would not give an estimate for repairs until he did an inspection, 2 hours, at $210 per hour, one hour to lift the motorhome and one hour to lower it, and we all know the inspection can be done on the ground with a creeper. He told me the average price of a converter was about $1500. The insurance company refused and had it towed to a muffler shop, and the job was completed in 2 hours for a total of $639. Today I happened to be retracing my route to the MP and decided to go by Roger Vogt's shop. I saw 1 motor home and about 3 cars in his huge lot. I guess the word is out. This place is horrible!! The lady in the front acts like she knows what she is talking about and has no idea. I set an appointment for 8am got there early dropped the car off and they didn't call until 3 tried ro charge me to diagnose the ac blower motor then to diagnose the refrigerant system. 750$ . Um nope. Once she realized i knew what i was talking about her tone changed. I got out of there paying 450$. they then say it's 1500 to fix but if anything breaks while they are fixing it the cost should go up alot. How about you break my car parts you pay for them. The management team is very unprofessional, process change on a daily basis. The environment to very tense. Management constantly belittles staff. I would not recommend working here or taking your vehicle here to expensive and overcharge. I went to this place looking for a good honest mechanic for my motorhome. What I got was a scammy place that charged me 4 hrs labor for an oil change. I went in telling them a belt was squealing and I would like a 70k maintenance. What I got instead was him claiming it took 2 hours to diagnose after the receptionist said they didn't want me to show them the problem(why?). In the end they wanted 6 hours labor about 750 dollars to install a.serpentine belt. They did not offer to replace the upper/lower hose water pump hose radiator cap or anything else a reputable shop would recommend electric done at the same time. Instead of doing the 60k maintenance they did some general maintenance bull and didn't do a lot of the things you normally do on a big maintenance like the 60k. I recommend staying far away from this lazy snake in the grass. read more

Dishonest FRAUDS! Never come to this rip off establishment! I took my 2008 Chevy Cobalt in for no A/C. They tell me it is the condenser because it was "damaged" and that it will be $1200.00!!! I know a good deal about cars but lack the time and tools to do A/C myself. Check this out, I take it to another mechanic on Main st...a few blocks down and he agreed the condenser looked like it hit something, he offered to test it again and I declined (my fault... keep reading) He replaces the Condenser ($60.00 part) charges it with R-134 ($34.00) and does it all in 2 hours ($150. Labor) for a grand total of $244.00. Roger Vogt's charges $110.00/hr in labor...so lets add this up. $60 part, 2 hours of maintenance...hell lets make it 3 (330) and say 50 bucks in freon...that's $590 with the service charge...they quoted me $1200... WHERE THE HELL DID THE EXTRA $610 COME FROM YOU SNAKE???? To top it all off...it wasn't the condenser! It turned out to be a seal on a line coming from the compressor. What then Vogt? Charge me more? Some top notch troubleshooting... Believe EVERY NEGATIVE REVIEW you see on Yelp. Shop around, there are PLENTY of honest repair facilities. Complaint submitted with BBB. I recently had to install a new engine in my 1999 Corvette. The engine needed to be tuned due to some upgrades done. It can only be don with a laptop, special software and a Dyno. I have worked as a professional mechanic for around 30 years, but have not been in the trade for over 10 years. I do not have the specialized equipment to work on the car. Even installing the engine requires special equipment as well. I had the install done at Millers Auto on Main st in Visalia and Mr. Vogt's shop is just a couple of doors down from them. Vogt's have a dynamo-meter, there was an ad in the local car enthusiasts newspaper saying they did that they do "Complete Dyno Tuning And Testing" so I asked if they could tuned my car. They said no problem but I had to wait 2 weeks but it would be best if I just left it there and if they had a break they would get it in. It was Xmas so I understood. The lead tech, John, told me had the software to tune my car and knew how to do it. To make a long story short after jacking me around for over 2 months, he lied about having the software (HPTuner) and lied about my car having a bad having a bad MAF sensor (I still have it), and along with Roger lied to me about so many things I lost track! I had bad sensors that needed to be replaced before the car could be tuned (Oxygen sensor) I bought a tunable MAF sensor for better tuning. He had done 2 pulls but had not checked to codes that said the Oxy sensors were bad, and he should have known the car was not tunable with malfunctioning OXY sensors (4 of them). He had lied and said there was a code for a bad MAF, and it was not there when I read the codes. I even went and bought the $700 software to do it, but John lied again and I finally discovered he was clueless and had never used that particular software. (Very aggressive and pushy liar at that and always has an excuse, got really mad when you proved him wrong.) How I found out I was really getting jerked around as I was trying to coordinate John,Vogt's tuner and my engine builder, Justin to get the thing tuned. After he talked to John, and after trying to work with him to tune my car he had no faith in the guy and said I should get my car out of there before he ruined my new engine. He found a a guy in Santa Clarita , Austin at RPM Motors. Austin had my car on the Dyno for a little over 1/2 hour and had the engine putting out 400 HP and 400 torque at the wheels! It took Austin at RPM a a little over an hour and a half , including setting the car up on the dyno and printing the bill to do to my car what I had been waiting over 2 1/2 months for Roger Vogt and John to do. They charged me $700 and did nothing but put unnecessary wear on my new engine. I showed them the Dyno results and asked for my $700 back. The answer was no along with more excuses. Don't trust them as far as you can throw them. I was lucky he didn't ruin my new $7000 engine. They tell you whatever they have to, to get you in the shop, dishonest and condescending. I suggested he review them on Yelp, as that can really help a good, honest small business. I guess that signing up for an account was just too much for him, so he asked me to post it for him... It sounds like he works there, but I swear it's totally unsolicited & legit. Here you go: We had the absolute good fortune of being towed to Roger Vogt's shop in Visalia, CA. This place should definitely be added to the GMC vendors list, for anyone traveling through central California, as they were thoroughly competent in dealing with GMC-engine-related issues. Roger Vogt / Performance Auto and Air is a total "PERSONAL SERVICE" operation. As we arrived, Roger came out to our coach, introduced himself, and assured us that we would be treated as a priority. They did, extraordinarily! Also thanks to John and Barbara, in the office, and Jacob, our "courtesy chauffeur". To those of you who know me, you know how un-mechanical I am. From what I can read on the box, they installed a new HEI "Flame-Thrower" distributor (black cap). It started easily and ran sweetly from Visalia to the Bakersfield RV Resort where we will spend tonight (pool, jacuzzi, and to-the-coach dinner delivery). Our service with Roger Vogt's shop could not have been better ( including free courtesy service to our hotel ). Had all exterior bulbs replaced a little over a year ago, 2 are already out!! Did you even do anything to my truck as far as fixing it!?

My wife and i both called and talked to roger about our cars cooling system issues. Was told we HAD to put it on diagnostic machine so we could know everything wrong with it. When we took it in the girl at the front counter says itll be 149 to do that and we stated no roger said 49.99. We asked him numerous times over the phone because we don't have extra money right now. And he said yes. Only 49.99. She said ill ask roger. Well 2.5 hours later she calls back and said the 3 problems(all cooling system issues) would cost us 290 to just get diagnosed. Not counting fixing them. They lie to you to get you there and hope you'll take their shenanigans. I told them do not touch and we will pick it up. Took it to mechanic up the street and getting it fixed without diagnostic machine. Will NEVER take a car here again. If the cant tell the truth in the beginning what else will they do?? read more

First off, I would like to say that Roger is a great guy to speak to before you bring your vehicle to them. After they have it, it is a different story. Their mechanics are good, I will give them that. And they are thorough. However, Roger charges dealership prices for parts. This is the reason why most people don't go to the dealership for repairs, and come to shops like this. In my case, I had a no start, no spark that I had diagnosed myself (I had good fuel pressure, just no spark). Everything was good - plugs, wires, distributor and cap. But, I was going nuts trying to figure out exactly why I couldn't get spark. So I finally brought it to Roger Vogt's (I got the best feedback on the phone when I was describing everything that I had done and the no start condition). They diagnosed it as a bad PCM, which made sense. However, they said they weren't 100% certain and wanted an additional 92 dollars to "finish the diagnosis." Now, I have never been to a shop that charges anything over the diagnostic fee they post. So before I gave them another 92 dollars, I asked for an estimate to replace the PCM. They came back with 930 dollars. Ouch. BUT, that's in addition to the the "diagnosis fee" so I was looking at over 1100 dollars! In my experience, I have never had a diagnostic fee NOT roll into the repair. Even all the dealerships I have dealt with have this policy. I understand the diagnostic takes their time (labor hours) to troubleshoot the problem, but at the same time, I have been to another shop (southern ca) where the service guy drove it home and back to make sure they got the right diagnostic. And that fee was rolled into the actual repair. Regardless, I couldn't believe the steep price of the parts considering most factory refurbished PCM's are anywhere from 100-300. Yes they we're going to use factory new parts, but factory refurbished parts in my experience will usually be just the same. This is because they go through the same testing as a new unit would. With that said, I ended up not paying them the additional 92 dollars, and had it towed back to my house. In fact, I am receiving a performance tuned PCM unit for 315 bucks, so at the end of the day its a third the cost of they wanted. At least they we're able to diagnose it and point me in the right direction. Unfortunately, I didn't see the reason for such high prices and that is why I will finish the repair myself. read more

This place is state of the art. They have up to date tech and are able to deal with diagnostics. Excellent customer service. They kept me up to date on the status of my car. Great warranty on parts and labor (1 year). They are not cheap. Actually expensive, but they do great work. They were the only place able to fix my car. I went to two garages and the dealership with no luck. Don't waste your time or money on other mechanics. read more

I just have a loose connection. I tried to tell Roger what the problem was but he insists that I pay him for inspection before he tells me how much it will cost! He wont even let you finish talking! Took our 2008 Honda Pilot in for timing belt replacement (and things like tensioner, water pump, etc,) - was cheaper than the local Honda dealership...and they were professional....plus AAA certified ! I NEVER write reviews for places, but feel like I need to warn others about this place. Took in our CRV a month ago and it has been a stream of problems with this place ever since. The shop replaced the entire air system and "fixed" the problem for $3,100 and told it to us it was good to go. Within a week, the air made a strange sound and gave out. We took it in and they said it was the condensor fan and that the brand new compressor we just bought was burned out from this fan also. Replaced the compressor using the warranty and then charged almost another $500 for the fan. Gave us the car good to go again. Within a few days, the air just stopped blowing cold air. Took it in yet again. They said now it was the radiator fan and the new (2 week old) compressor had burned out again. Then Roger wanted US to pay for a new compressor, the radiator fan, and labor. He even said he would do us the "favor" of going in half price. My argument was he should go in full price since they were the ones giving us back the car and telling us it was good to go. Not our fault they overlooked problems that caused new parts to go bad. That is when Roger (the owner) got mean. He is a VERY difficult person to deal with once he gets upset. While talking on the phone, he talks over you, uses inappropriate tone, and just basically treats you badly. Negotiated a deal to fix everything and get it going for only cost of parts (which was another $425). Meanwhile, they had our car in the shop all day on and off for a week and a half. Said they would have it to us by 9:30 am, which became until closing, which became the next day, etc. Since we are a one-car family, this meant there were lots of missed appointments, play dates, etc. because of the inaccurate pick up times. After a month of dealing with this, Roger calls us and tells us he doesnt want to deal with our car anymore. He offered a refund, subtract the price of working parts. We were fine with this because we were also eager to stop dealing with him. So long story short, here we are, a month later with nothing but headaches, a HORRIBLE experience from Roger Vogts, and no working air conditioner. The only good thing I can say about this place is the shuttle driver and the girl at the front desk are very nice. read more
