Hard sell, high pressure, pushy, high estimates, pressures to make the sale, doesn't allow for you to think

I am not to impressed by this company. I got charged 35k for a new roof and gutters. I am unfamiliar with how much my roof should have costed, however I told them I am a firm believer in getting what I pay for, therefore I was okay with paying more expecting a top of the line installation. I was promised several things which never happened. Firstly I was promised a almost perfect cleanup. After everything was said and done, I am still finding big shingle chunks throughout my yard. I did not expect every single tiny piece to be cleaned up, I understand roofing is messing work and pieces go everywhere, however this was not hard to miss. I personally looked around the roof after everything was done, I found multiple areas in which they did not caulk it water tight, there is a big gap where water can drain down into the house. I would expect things like this if I was getting a roof replacement for 5-10k, not 35k. Lastly I was planning to bring all of this up when we did our final walkthrough, which I was promised would happened. That walkthrough never happened. I was told by the company, once all work was done a higher up in the company would plan a time with me and walk through every which was done and ensure we had "a 5 star experience". This walkthrough never happened, he never attempted to contact me. I am disappointed for the price, I got a 15k roof for 35k dollars. read more

Let the buyer beware! We have no problems with the work, but some issues with ethical matters. First, the man that came to give an estimate spent 3 1/2 hours questioning what we were looking for, then comparing their services to other roofers. After asking multiple times for the cost, 3 1/2 hours later he told us. My dad who does not have a computer or email, signed the contract on an Ipad. There was no paper copy of a contract and no written receipt for the thousands he gave them in the check. After messaging his "concierge" we were told that they don't give written receipts. Second, there were two skylights which needed replaced. We were given no option of type, or style. The replaced skylights have a blind in them and there is an unfinished board between the glass and the blind. A contractor would have had finished wood in an installation. So now we have to find someone to go on a kitchen counter and ladder to stain the wood. Third, the roof was installed on Jan. 21st, it was below zero out and when the skylights were changed of course, cold air coming in. The skylight was originally put in the wrong way, but they corrected it. The shingles are Atlas, made in America, and the ridge vent was good quality. There was a bit of language issue (heavy accents and a hard of hearing person.) Also, they did not leave a couple of shingles in case of a windstorm or branch falling. There was no itemized bill provided, was told they don't do itemized bills. I would check other roofers before going with them. They are vetted and have good ratings but ethically were not on the customers side. In speaking to friends about this we were also told of another person who went through the same type of sell but was able to get out of it. read more

The sales rep was pushy and misleading about what was included, the crew left open holes in my roof, the "one-day job" dragged into four, cleanup was sloppy, and I later discovered exposed nail heads, gaps in trim, and other poor workmanship. I paid extra for materials, was charged for trim I didn't want, and had to hire my own inspectors because they never provided a proper final inspection. I wanted to thank Orlando the roof inspector at Rogers roofing. He was very professional on time asked thorough questions about my needs. He also performed an incredibly detailed thorough inspection of my roof inside and out. This required him getting into my attic space of my hundred-year-old home which I'm sure wasn't the most pleasant thing. He took many pictures and even a video of all the trouble spots and areas of concern and explain to me thoroughly why each one was a problem. He also was very diligent about working with me on pricing and getting me a very affordable monthly financing plan. I was told today that Rogers Roofing no longer does roofing jobs in the Pullman neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago, and this is after decades of providing roofing services to the Pullman community. Roger's Roofing stated they are no longer able to work on rowhouses. At least they own up to their weaknesses. Stay away from this company. Also the representative spoke very unprofessionally and set a free inspection appointment with me two weeks out from my phone call. read more

I received a mail flyier that said they would have service trucks in my area doing repairs and that if i need any repairs, they would be cheaper since they were already in the area. Its a scam, its purely a marketing letter trying to drum up new business. I called to get two shingles replaced, and I have the matching shingles, but the number goes to a call center, not the company, and they cannot schedule a repair, but they can schedule a full roof inspection which generates a quote, but to do that they need to walk around on my roof, which is a 9/12 - 10/12 and just walking around up there is likely to do more damage because of the pitch. And according to the contact center, THEY cannot reach the company to ask questions and apparently the phone number listed on their website goes to the call center so there is no way to actually reach the company. read more

The salesman was excellent. They stated their goal is OUTSTANDING customer service. That is a lie. They said it would take 1 day to do the roof. It took 5 days (excluding Sunday) and that was after I called them every morning and taking off work. They kept promising me that they would come out to finish the project. The salesman stated they could do the roof of the gazebo. They couldn't. Also on the 5th day, they completed the job but left remaining boxes and material on the lawn. This company was recommended to me by a coworker. The owner came out to provide an estimate. He was a bit condescending, but the price seemed reasonable and my colleague said that she enjoyed her service, so I hired them. It was a huge mistake. It was extremely rainy that year and the company had to put a tarp on my roof to cover a leak in the roof. They covered the wrong side of the roof. To their credit, they did not charge for the tarp. When they finally were able to start the work, one of the servicemen almost fell through the leaky area. I am certain they were aware of that there was an issue with that portion of the roof because they put a tarp over it. This left a huge hole in the ceiling of my spare room. Another servicemen told me that there was an issue with the wood and that it would not be covered by the insurance company and would cost thousands of dollars. I was already anxious after having someone almost fall through my roof and this observation made the situation worse. I called the owner and he was incredibly nasty. I recall starting the call off by saying, "Hi Roger, this is .... how are you?" and he pretty much responded by asking me what I wanted. After that, I only spoke with his wife who works in their office. Side note: She was very nice! Luckily, the insurance company was extremely helpful and everything worked out. I was relieved to finally have Roger's roofing out of my house and immediately tossed the lawn sign that they left behind. I thought all of the drama was behind me, but no. There was more. The person that they hired to repair the hole in my ceiling clearly did not want to do the job. At the time, I was a single woman living alone and this guy took full advantage of that. He behaved as if he were doing me a favor. If I recall correctly, he only painted over the section of the ceiling that had been damaged which was totally fine. I wanted to know the color of the paint so that I could paint the rest of the ceiling to match the fresh paint and he snapped that he wasn't doing that. I did not ask him to paint my entire ceiling nor did I expect him to. I only wanted to know the color for the reason stated. The job took a few days and I wanted to be rid of this experience, so I would let him in, greet him and hang out in another room until he finished. I had to take the time off of work to do this. I think the guy realized he had been unreasonable because on the final day, he smiled at me and made a remark about the good weather. I didn't respond. I was so happy to be rid of him and finally over the Roger's Roofing experience. I told my colleague that the experience was horrible and she replied that she hired them for a job at her rental property and was experiencing terrible service as well. Disappointing experience. I have a garden on the side of our house so they promised to use a shoot to go down the front of the house to keep the debris off the garden. They did not do that. Four layers of roofing were thrown onto my garden, without running it by me first. There were also a couple of follow-up issues that were not met with satisfaction. Found a reliable company whose quote was half the price of Rogers and was promptly addressed by new company whereas Rogers failed to address a simple request. Trying to find a roofing company that would repair one canopy was exhausting. It either wasn't a big enough job for some roofing companies (in Chicago specifically) or companies didn't do this kind of work (only awning). After more than a month and contacting at least 30 companies, I'd grown exhausted but knew this repair was an absolute necessity. It didn't occur to me to try a nearby state, but I saw Rogers Roofing and figured "What the heck? All they can do is say no." Ed Rogers was really nice when he came out to see the place, explained the process of getting it done, and I was all set to see it come to fruition. There were a couple of complications (one canceled date without letting me know until I called the night before -and- not informing me that the canopy color would be white instead of beige). But the guys who came out worked SO quickly, SO quietly, cleaned up as much as possible and were friendly. They were done so fast (five hours for an entirely new canopy) that I just happened to catch them outside. Even though they had to wait almost an hour for a part, they still got it done, and it looks great. I don't know who is who, but one of them looked to be either Puerto Rican or Black, maybe late 30s, tatts. And that guy gave me a play-by-play of what all that needed to be done. The other two (white guys, long hair, maybe early 30s) were quieter but friendly nonetheless. I would recommend their work to anyone who needs it. I was really concerned about rotted wood underneath. Luckily we did not have that. The first guy patiently explained all the repairs that were needed and completed. I respected that quite a bit. (I recently ran into a male contractor who told me, "Don't worry about it. Let the pros handle it" and didn't want to answer one question), which is why I'm giving them a five-star review. The couple cons I had would've normally been four stars, but the owner even offered to fix the color if we chose to. (I asked a neighbor who couldn't tell the difference. But when you've been staring at a canopy trying to get it fixed for two months, EVERYTHING is a big deal.) Between the VP's final response and the workers who came out, I'm giving them five stars anyway. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it works as nicely as it looks, I'm comfortable with the job. read more

I needed work done on my mother's roof! They gave her an estimate, she paid them, signed the contract. They didn't even start on it till 3 months later. Which was supposed to be started 2 weeks after contract was signed. They told her it may cost $300-$400 more but instead they charged her another $1,200 after she paid them what they asked for and signed contract. I was furious. My mother is 60 years old, on disability, and they took advantage of her. She paid them $1,200 more than what was stated in the contract! Now the work they did was half ass and from the inside of her home there is exposed wood with nails sticking out, and on the outside there are shingles cracked and her roof still leaks! She spent a total of $5,200 and still needs all the work done!! I'm so frustrated and furious with these assholes! They really screwed her and now with all the snow we have her roof is worse now than it was before! It was only leaking in 1 spot now it's leaking from 4 different places on her roof and that's the part they worked on! These people are lucky I wasn't in town when they finished! I can't believe they screwed an elderly disabled woman. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE HIRING THEM! THEY HAVE 2 1/2 STAR RATING AND HAVE SCREWED MANY PEOPLE!
