Worst dental visit of my life…read more I went to Dr. Wise's office as a new patient. When I arrived the receptionist said "Oh, you decided to come anyway." Wait what? She went onto say "they were supposed to call you, one hygienist call off today." NOBODY ever called me. I would not drug myself to the dentist first thing in the morning just because. She said we can still get you in. I was taken back to the dental chair, where I sat next to a fussy screaming child as I waited to be seen. The hygienist was the first to see me, as she was doing the cleaning, she slipped a couple of times painfully hitting my gums. After, Dr Wise came in, he performed the exam and took xrays and ordered upper and lower molds of my teeth. I inquired why I need them for a basic check up and cleaning. He said "I require that of all of my patients." I pushed back a bit because I did not feel that they were necessary. He demeaned them, so they proceed with the molds. Then he went onto order additional xrays. I cannot imagine how much ran up my insurance bill for all of the unnecessary (never used) molds and additional xrays on top of the cleaning and exam. I did not received an invoice. At the time I was in my mid 20's, with no dental issues and I have always taken good care of my teeth, and practiced good hygiene; I actually floss regularly and go to the dentist twice a year. This experience has always bothered me.

(Ever.) I had to have some major work done, but he explained everything thoroughly and gave me all the options. ("Do nothing, let your teeth fall out" wasn't one of the options but should have been.) Over time I decided to do some cosmetic work, too (whitening, caps here and there) but only after I made it clear to him that I DON'T DO PAIN. As he was messing around with my cheek I stopped him and said, "Please just tell me right before you give me the shot (to deaden my mouth)." He said, "Too late, I just did it." THAT'S how good he is.
