We hosted our daughter's birthday party at Modesto on Ice and had such a great experience! Setup was easy, and we were able to hang banners and decorate the space for her birthday without any hassle. The owners and staff were incredibly helpful and kind. They were constantly assisting skaters with skate sizing and making sure skates were adjusted comfortably, which made everything run smoothly--especially with kids. The facilities are really nice with lots of space, and we loved the tents--they made it feel festive but still relaxed. The kids had an absolute blast. Pizza was delivered right on time, and the hot chocolate was a huge hit with everyone. Overall, it was a very laid-back, easy, and fun experience. We came with some friends to expend some leftover holiday energy. This is a cute little rink, they have a little snack shack with a some light snacks and drinks, and the service is friendly. The music is upbeat and the decor is very lively with Christmas trees and lights. I love that they had outdoor heaters for me to warm up while I watched my friends and family and took pictures. This is a great little family friendly place and the folks running it were very welcoming and kept it clean and organized. It was a hit with the kids. read more

I would say for a family night or couples night, this place is awesome. The birthday hosting of actual throwing parties fell short. There was not dedicated workers to any of the parties so essentially you paid to rent a space - $400 you would think there would be guidance or direction like any other place of business that rents parties so this actually entailed longer wait times, walking back and fourth, no explanations and or directions of any sort, not treated of any higher priority from us and a regular customer walking in. So this waiting in line, tickets getting wristbands, going back and forth when a new person of the party comes in, waiting in line again, this pushed our skate rentals back and between 20 kids and tieing laces up put us behind our actual ice skating time which again wasn't described as what it was given (strict ice times) not announcing anything for us to know when it was our time. They gave us a slip with a name shoutout and song which in fact we did not hear happen at all. Never announced when the pizza was coming and dropped it off at the end of our table so it looked like a regular bag any guest would have brought. I paid $5 a walker in advance $30 total when I could have not added on as a prepackaged and paid only $2 each at the door This was stupid to even offer someone who essentially ended up paying you $500 to host my own party at your facility. Not to mention maybe if they did one booking less the tables chairs and guest between all parties wouldn't be so cramped, between chairs back to back from each party people adults were falling over previous session skates being taken off from the neighboring party. Overall The experience of the actual ice skating seemed to be fine, hosting parties - for what you're paying . Should be prioritized a little better in my opinion. Any other actual birthday hosting facilities make the child feel special, you guys did not. read more

We had our (teaching) staff party with Kathy on 12/12. Kathy is definitely proactive about reading, responding, and making improvements based on comments! I had read that the system for checking in was unclear for previous parties. On the evening of our event, there was only one other party, and Kathy had a dedicated table and device for scanning our waivers and passing out wristbands. The decorations and little vignettes for photos are plentiful and so tastefully done! Besides the tables for our guests, we had two additional tables for pizza and water/dessert. When our pizzas arrived, the server noticed that many of our party were skating, and brought warming bags until we were ready to eat! Everyone in our party was an adult, and they all had a surprisingly fun time using their hot cocoa coupons to pick their drinks up from the trailer. For those reporting that the music was inappropriate, that has also changed! Our party came with a DJ shoutout and song dedication, and we picked "Baby Got Back," which they could not play! (Understandable!) This venue offers maximum fun, value, and cheer for very little effort on the client's part, and I am hoping my coworkers want to return to this tried-and-true option rather than exploring something new (and potentially far less reliable). I brought blankets for favors but, with the heating lamps, nobody needed one. If we come back next year, I will make a photo scavenger hunt specific to the area to encourage guests to hang out even longer! read more

Was here for a large field trip in the beginning of the season and had a blast, although the ice was not well maintained. However, came again today and the staff was outright rude, disrespectful, and the music was completely inappropriate with cussing and explicit sexual language. Staff was informed and nothing changed. My children did not need to hear about sucking D, F this, F that, getting high and so on. Beware if you plan on bringing your children. It was not a family friendly environment. read more

We had the absolute best time! We bought our tickets online and there is a family pack that saves you some money. You can also do the waivers online prior to arriving. The parking was free and in the same vicinity as the ice rink. I imagine when they're super busy people will use the parking garage across the street. We went today & it's been raining pretty much all day today. It wasn't too crowded and it looked like people were celebrating birthdays. There is designated times for each group session. So check online before arriving. Our session time was 230-340pm. We got there a little early and drank hot chocolate in the snack bar area. They also had little areas where you can take photos by a Christmas tree and Christmas decor. After the other session was done they announced for the session to get off the ice and turn in their equipment. Then someone cleaned the ice up and announced for the 2:30 session to get on the ice. We got our skates and we rented two devices to support our kids when they're skating (I don't know what it's called.) we had so much fun skating! A lot of people were falling and getting back up! It was so fun! They also had staff in the ice rink to help people that needed more support in getting up after falling. We can't wait to come back!!!!!! read more

We had a birthday party for my daughter here. We purchased the package for 20 skaters for $400. It came with 4 Pizza Hut pizzas and 20 passes for free hot chocolate or coffee. It also came with 2 plastic tables and chairs reserved for us. We only ended up having around 12 people that skated. Our guests enjoyed it and were having fun until our session was up. Not everyone was aware of the 80 minute session limit (they don't do a great job of explaining to their guests how it works and the signage is non existent) and were going back on the ice when the young girl that worked there very rudely told my guests that their session was over and they needed to get off the ice. Ok, that's fine....I would have appreciated a little more professionalism, but they were busy and I'm sure they were having a stressful day. We still had our table for another hour so we decided to buy some s'mores kits for the kids and hang out for a while. During this time, my daughter bit a confetti-filled ballon and it popped and confetti went everywhere. Kids do childish things sometimes, I don't think I have to explain to my fellow parents out there. Over all, we were very clean and picked up all of our trash. An older lady that worked there then came over and approached our guests to say something about the confetti when I spoke up to let her know she could speak to me. She made a big deal out of the confetti, saying "we don't allow confetti" and "well, I guess I'll have to figure out how to clean this". This was the last straw for me. Part of paying the crazy price we paid was for the convenience and so we have no mess to clean up like we would at home. To have someone give me a hard time about having to clean a little confetti? And to be rude to our guests on two separate occasions? Unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend a party here after the experience I had, especially for a kid. It might be ok to just go ice skate with a small group but the packages are not a very good value and the service is poor. You might want to try an ice rink somewhere else. read more

My family has been to modesto on ice many times this year and last. They definitely deserve a review. Just comparing this ice rink to others, the cleanliness and friendliness is like no other. The staff makes you feel very welcoming, and gets you excited to experiment something new! This is a great thing they are doing for the community of modesto. Every customer including us seems to be treated like family, from nearly every employee. When someone falls, within 10-15 seconds there is a staff member by their side aiding them or picking them up and teaching them how to safely skate while making it fun. I wish this was year round, especially with their staff, just such an awesome place to be. Very family/holiday oriented, friendly people, and lots of smiles. Pretty small in the parking lot of the double tree hotel. The biggest drawback is the ice is horrible they have sessioned skate times and other places will fix the ice between sessions, not here just let the next group on gouged ice see all the kids fall constantly due to grooves in ice. This was my first time going to Modesto On Ice and it did not disappoint!! I've been to the Stockton Ice Arena and other rinks in the Bay Area, but this one is my goto rink now. The staff were very helpful. The skates were sharp and signups for waiver forms were as easy as using your picture app. And the nachos with a side of jalapeño were excellent! This place is a great yearly spot for me, I love the music, the employees are helpful, and their session rules are well placed, my only complaint isn't against them but the people of Modesto, a lot of you can be rude on that ice. Overcrowded & hazardous! So many items in the ice that could cause someone to fall & it doesn't look like they smooth out the ice as there are huge grooves in the ice making it dangerous. It seems like they really don't enforce any safety rules. People skating every which direction, some going at really fast speeds. Children able to skate wherever they want to. I see them almost getting ran over constantly. I also believe they allow too many people on the rink. Makes it really difficult to go at your own pace as you are constantly looking over your shoulder afraid to get knocked down. Just because you sign a waiver doesn't mean you want to be in an unsafe environment. I attached a photo of the rink rules. They don't enforce any of them & someone got hurt on the rink tonight. Who knows how it happened. Security guard was too busy looking at his phone to notice & I had to tell him. not very fun & a waste of money. :( read more

We tried out the rink for the first time in November 2019, and went there throughout the season until they closed last month. The rink is very well kept; it's clean, well organized, and the folks working the ticket booth and skate dispensary were very courteous, polite, and helpful. We were impressed by this level of customer service because it was obvious that there were a lot of young people, possibly high schoolers, working there. The atmosphere here is inviting, fun, and inclusive. There's many different skill levels on the ice and there were some very kind and helpful skaters/employees who were very attentive and helpful to those who needed it on the ice. It's a great place for the whole family to enjoy and we'll be back next season for sure. read more

Could be a nice experience for all but my grandchildren went to skate and have fun, but when they to get skating assistant (walker type) for the younger ones (5yr old), but was told they were sold out when there was plenty there. When the kids that looked the person behind the counter, they were given one. Thank you to them because they saw what happened and took the one she gave them to my granddaughter. This place is the place to be during the fall/winter time! I used to go to Turlock to get my ice skating in for the season, but now I don't have to go as far! The ice is smoothed over after every 1 hour and 15-minute session that pre-scheduled on their website. Highly recommend pre-purchasing your tickets on their website if you're going at night or get there 30-45 minutes early because they will sell out of tickets! Also, you'll need to sign a waiver every time you go there so that the ice skating rink isn't sued if you die by your own doing or an accident. Once you have your wristband, you will need to stand in another line to get your rental shoes 10-15 minutes before your session time begins. Depending on how busy they are- they will ask you for your keys, ID, or something of belonging to you that you will get back after you return the borrowed ice skates. The employees are super nice and know what they are doing to get the lines moving. There are lockers available that you can rent (or use without the lock) to put your stuff in. I normally wear boots, put everything in my boots and put them in the back corner of their enclosed tent. There's a snack shack that you can purchase warm drinks from and snacks if you are feeling a bit hungry. There's portable heaters in the waiting area that are turned on at night before you go onto the ice rink or if you're just hanging around. There are portables- but I wouldn't use them. Just go before you get there. We all know how it goes. The place is clean and great for large/small groups. Don't go by yourself- it's kind of boring...and don't be that couple that suddenly holds hands blocking people from passing them. read more

I called to see if walkers were good for disabled they said yes, i got there purchased them n found they were not, skates are not wide like i specified, traded em in even but laces werent long enough. Then someone said something about my service animal so i asked for a refund they refused even after i explained to the manage guy named steve or something and then after refusing my refund tried to take my skates away from me. This is a fun family place to spend time at. It's $12.00 for kids and $15.00 for adults. The skate time is an hour and a half per session and packages are available. They have music supplied by DJ James. The tent is a nice and intimate touch. Lights are all around but what makes this extra special is the LED lights in the ice itself. This place was a lot of fun. They played music that was fun to skate to such as Dancing Queen by Abba. They had plastic piping made into a standing V shape that helped new ice skaters keep their balance on the ice. That is an extra $5. They had a variety of ages skating. Prices includes rental skates. The ice did get a bit choppy after some time of ice skating. I enjoyed the lights as well. I highly recommend giving this place a try when it is open for the winter season. It's open to the outside air, but has a canopy over the top and walls that go all the way up on 2 sides and half way up on the other 2 sides. Enjoy! read more

Took my daughter here today for an ice-skating session, and we both had a great time! We filled out the waivers online, and also bought our tickets online, so check in was a breeze once we got there. The staff was super nice, and getting our ice skates was very easy, no lines really, even on New Year's day. We got a walker which is a huge huge help, would highly recommend getting there early if you have to to get one, cannot imagine skating with my five-year-old daughter without one. About 30 minutes into the session, I was satisfied, but my daughter wanted to keep going, she had a great time so we skated the entire hour and a half. One thing that really stood out, was when we fell one time, I looked up, and a very kind staff member was there to help us and asked me how we were, it was pretty incredible, almost like an angel. All in all, we had a great time, had some hot chocolate, cookies, very special and memorable day. One review I read said the ice was not smoothed out with a Zamboney between sessions, which is not true at all, after our session was over, I saw the ice being smoothed out for the next round of folks. read more
