The taiyaki is fresh and really delicious, much like a warm waffle with filling inside! The raspberry and creme is good: the flavor combination is scrumptious. I almost always get the strawberry ice cream with blueberry toppings, or if I am having a bit of a sweet tooth then I'll go for the m&ms and peanut butter chips. We went for the ice cream which is delicious and a fun little experience in and of itself, but the real treat IMO are the Michigan Coney Island Dogs! Ok ... you're not hungry bc you've just eaten a huge meal next door at Halal Bros but you walk in ... just to see. Mistake... huge bc this place is awesome, if you see it , you're gonna order one. I chose avocado which is sweet and yummy and got it rolled. They pour a liquid on this silver super cold metal ring and it freezes. It's made by pouring milk onto a cold surface. They always ask if you prefer whole milk, so there's the option. You can choose from one fruit topping, which is mixed into the ice cream, or two other toppings. As they scrape the milk on the cold surface, right in front of you, the ice cream hardens and they mix in the toppings of your choice. Our family of three tried the rolled ice cream. They can make your ice cream with almond or soy milk too, which is nice. The rolling process is unique but ice cream flavoring fell flat. Usually real ice cream tastes rich with a milk fat feel in your mouth. This was much thinner and reminded me of ice milk. We thought Coldstone's flavors/richness were far superior. But, given the rolling process with extreme cold temp, it probably toned down the flavor quite a bit. Topping choices are limited due to rolling process. Did not like that they charged $1 for chocolate syrup. Two smalls and a medium roll were around $18, so a bit pricey for what it is. Would like to try a tayaki next time. You start by filling out a piece of paper with your order, then pay, then watch your creation get made. The gentlemen at the cash register and the woman who made my ice cream were both very nice! The woman was particularly helpful and answered all the questions I had with a smile (and there were several... I like to know how things work). The ice cream itself was delish! I got the funfetti batter rolled ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and rainbow marshmallows. It was a little on the pricey side and you only get one topping included. There are only two criticisms I have. As a person who gets overwhelmed with flavor choices, I love when places give me popular concoctions. Give me a base flavor and a couple of toppings with a cute name and I'm down. Bonus if it's a slight discount to ordering all of those items separately. Also, all of their toppings are prepackaged in little plastic cups. Between that and all of the paper slips they must go through, I just feel like there has to be a more environmentally friendly way to do things. Another line for watching the employees prepare your order. Their systems is efficient and pretty quick. There is a huge selection of ice cream and toppings. I don't think that the ice cream tastes creamy enough (and I get it with whole milk). The consistency of the ice cream is kind of icy instead of milky and it melts pretty quickly. I decided to try the green tea ice cream on my last visit and that did not taste like green tea at all. I have also tried their taiyaki and wasn't impressed.
