Really cute place in Kennebunkport to grab some pizza. During off season it's a ghost town like most places in ME but we were lucky to find this. The owner was very kind and welcoming. Pizza was good; hit the spot.

Delicious pizza. We got the fig and a cheese - both excellent. Perfect for our last night in Kennebunkport.

Pizza was really good, plenty of pepperoni on our pizza. Pizza came out hot and fresh. Great customer service, owner is very personable.

For desert I got a lemon cake that had a drizzle in the sponge to make sure it stayed moist and delicious. I would happily eat anything that comes out of this kitchen. Service: All of their wait staff was exceptional. They were courteous and went the extra mile to make dinner a fine dining experience. The only weak point was their hostess. I had a reservation but still had to wait ~15 minutes for a table after waiting ~5 minutes for the hostess to show up in the first place. Once the hostess was working again she regularly brushed past customers waiting in their overfilled waiting area and glared at people in her way. I understand her frustration but that is not an excuse to glare at customers. Ambiance: The waiting area was cramped but once we were seated the tables were spaced out enough that it didn't feel congested. There were lots of little nooks and crannies so each table had their own little area.

The tiramisu was super light and fluffy and the chocolate truffle cheesecake was so flavorful. I'm glad we got both!

The staff is amazingly friendly, which took this review from 3 stars to 4! The dining room is neat and tidy, albeit a little tired. But we enjoyed seeing the old photos of Saco on the wall and the old tin ceiling. Our meals were pretty good, all in all. I was hoping for a little more flavor in the meatball and the lasagna, however. My partner enjoyed the eggplant parmesan and told me it was perfectly cooked. The bar looked pretty well appointed, too. I'd say it's a good place, but maybe not a great place.

The staff was incredible -- we were running late and arrived right before they closed, and they didn't turn us away. We enjoyed our meal and were the last ones dining; they didn't make us feel rushed. The staff really was incredible. The food was great! Their American-Italian menu had it all: baked ziti, lemon pasta, meats and fish, pretty much everything. We ate family-style and shared the food, and everything was absolutely delicious. The lemon pasta with grilled chicken was hands down my favorite! Also, they had plenty of affordable wines. We got a good Chianti bottle for a little over $30. Traditions is a no-frills Italian joint, and that's precisely what we loved about it.

Our waitress was exceptionally knowledgeable--not only about the menu, but also the wine list. Service at Massimo is always strong, but she genuinely stood out and elevated the entire dining experience. We started with the corkscrew pasta with wild mushrooms, finished with a delicate touch of shaved truffles. It was absolutely delicious--the sauce was light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It works beautifully as either an appetizer or a main course. For entrées, the pan-seared cod was as impressive as it was visually appealing--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The veal was also excellent. Their veal saltimbocca offers a slightly different and very enjoyable twist; instead of the traditional sherry, it's prepared with Marsala wine, giving the dish a subtly sweeter and richer flavor profile. I also highly recommend the arancini. You receive two per order, and they're outstanding--crispy on the outside and rich and satisfying inside. The atmosphere at Restaurant Massimo is both relaxing and romantic, making it an ideal spot for a special night out or an intimate dinner. Consistently great food, exceptional service, and a warm, inviting ambiance keep me coming back.

My SO went to the restroom and the bartender asked me if we were celebrating anything and I told her it was our 7 year anniversary, she mentioned bringing something out for us, unexpected but appreciated. Meatball appetizer along with an appetizer size portion of a pasta dish, and the smoked duck small plate. All very good. From there it went downhill. Neither bartender checked in for about 30 minutes while we waited for our main course. Espresso rubbed duck was very flavorful and delicious. After the main nothing was brought out, so at that point I was a little frustrated so we went on our way. Food was great, service started good but then disappeared. Definitely would not return for an occasion.

In fact, or bar tender said to take our time and asked numerous times if we wanted anything else. And it was on a VERY crowded Valentine's Day night. The people who are complaining about being told to leave after an hour are almost certainly pretentious jerks who think they can just sit at a table and talk and not order any drinks or food. As someone who considers a well-constructed savory cocktail one of life's finer pursuits, I was genuinely excited. The hostess was lovely, warm even, but informed me that without a dinner reservation, the bar wouldn't be available until 9 pm. I was not welcome to simply sit and have a drink. I asked -- politely, I'd like to think -- whether an exception might be made. I was only in town for the weekend and promised that I could be in and out in twenty minutes but the answer was an unambiguous 'no'. There's something particularly unwelcoming about turning away a solo guest who has sought you out specifically for something only your restaurant offers. I came because Carmine does something nobody else does, at least nowhere I've found. And I was unceremoniously turned away with nothing to show for it. I understand the math. A Saturday evening at a restaurant like this lives and dies by full dinner covers, and a solo drinker nursing a cocktail for twenty minutes does not move the needle. But hospitality, real hospitality, has never been purely a numbers exercise. The irony is that I adore this restaurant. The food is spectacular, full stop. Had I possessed a second stomach, I would have happily demolished the Tonno Royale Spaghettini without a moment's hesitation. Carmine has earned genuine loyalty from me as a diner. But a Spicy Sicilian remains, for now, on my list of unfinished business -- and that is a small, specific disappointment I wasn't expecting to leave with.
