The restaurant may be small in seating capacity, but the service and quality of food are outstanding. The server was slammed from the get go as there was a line out the door before they even opened. She was very attentive to our needs and handled it very well. We had Marsala, veal parm and fried scallops. Everything was very delicious and filling.

Visited Traditions in the area we were vacationing in for the summer. We went to two other restaurants in the area, but neither of them had anyone in them eating, so we decided to keep looking. A couple had just come out of the restaurant, so I asked how it was and they said excellent. When we walked in to Traditions, the place was FULL! We were seated in the last booth available. And it was close to 8 p.m. Our waitress, Angie came over immediately to let us know she would be right with us. She came over and asked about drinks. We both got the Punch. She came over with the drinks and brought some bread. We ordered the Bruschetta $9.95 which was on the special appetizer menu. Bruschetta was very good with loads of balsamic glaze. She then took our orders. There is a great variety of Italian options, something for everyone. I opted for the Chicken Limone $22.95 and my daughter the Chicken Parmesan $22.95. The kids had spaghetti and sauce $6.95. The meals were very generous in size. My daughter mentioned that the chicken was very tender and mine was as well. The only thing I would say is it had a very strong thyme seasoning. I am not a fan of thyme. I tasted her Chicken Parmesan and it was very good. The sauce has chunks of tomato in it and had a great flavor. All in all, it was a fair price for the meals and we will definitely be going back.

How is it that I didn't not know about this gem of a restaurant! First, love that it has that homey old Italian feel!! They were crazy busy on a Friday night! We were there around 5:30 but didn't wait long for a table! I ordered the special, eggplant and chicken parmigiana! I ordered it with ziti! They also had a Brussel sprout appetizer on special! All the food was delicious! My only criticism, I prefer my pasta a bit more al dente other than that it was all great! I can't wait to go back!

Really cool spot for really good Italian food. It's a definite local favorite. The service was great and the ambiance was comfortable and friendly. I would say this restaurant is not good for groups more than 4 as there's limited tables.

Excellent eggplant palm although my wife didn't like the clams. Definitely going back

Typically Italian cuisine is not my 1st choice for going out to a restaurant but some friends highly recommended that my wife and I try it out. Well we are very happy that we took their advice. We shared a cup of clam chowder for an appetizer & it rates right up there with some of the best we've had anywhere. The food menu choices are somewhat limited but all of them sound great & looked great as we watched them come out of the kitchen. I ordered the Pollo con Scampi Diavola...chic & shrimp with mushrooms over spaghetti in a spicy marinara sauce, delicious!...but warning they aren't lying @ the spicy part which I like. My wife ordered the Pollo Marsalini...chic Marsala over angle hair pasta, also delicious! For drinks I ordered a Woodford Bourbon Manhattan & the wife had a Chianti. Ample pour on both drinks. Finally, the bar atmosphere is comfortable & cozy with an adjacent small dining area. The bartender was prompt & friendly. Seems like a local favorite to me & it will be on our list of restaurants to keep going to. I highly recommend Traditions for an after work app & drink with friends or a full blown delicious Italian meal. Enjoy!!

Started off with warm fresh bread, my favorite! Had the baked ziti and added homemade sausage, fantastic! Was going to pass on dessert until they said chocolate mousse, glad we treated ourselves, it did not disappoint!

Food is very good. Service is excellent. It's a small venue and somewhat noisy but do not let that deter you. You will enjoy the experience.

I noticed that the bar area was slightly more busy. Mind you, it was a Wed. evening in late Sept. I cannot wait to go back to order a few apps, paired with nice red wine. Elegant & romantic place considering the location. The dim lighting is a nice touch.

DoorDash refuses to refund her, as they said they restaurant accepted the order and confirmed everything on their end. We've tried calling and emailing multiple times to rectify this issue, and there's been no response from Diomede's. Diomede's needs to TURN OFF online ordering ASAP, as everything was processed for our order according to DoorDash, so they will not refund us. They also didn't even believe my wife when she informed them the restaurant is closed, and that I had driven there trying to pickup the food that DoorDash said was 'ready for pickup,' according to the restaurant. Will be happy to delete this review if this gets rectified and resolved, but as of right now we're out $60 and nobody seems to want to fix this issue.

This year on one of the occasions we went, we happened to try to get in after 9pm, the staff was clearly in close up mode so we felt bad, but David and the bartender insisted we come in for our nightcap. We had our drinks and left, also as usual the drinks were very good. We returned the next day for dinner, we started with the provolone slab appetizer, then I had the lobster risotto, which was loaded with lobster and really tasty. My wife had scallops, and we both enjoyed an amazing martini. David, our server, and the rest of the staff were all amazing as usual!!

The ravioli dough thickness was thicker/denser than I like, but the cheesy filling didn't fall out which is the key to a good ravioli. I also thought it was crazy that vodka sauce was a $5 up-charge, which is the highest sauce up-charge I've ever seen (and it needed more cream). Valet parking is required and the lot was like a zoo, but the valet team was working SO hard to accommodate the crowds and their efficiency deserves an award. All the staff hustled and we appreciated their efforts on a busy Saturday night.

Chitarrucci neri ai frutti di mare (black ink chitarra pasta with seafood), however, was something I really wanted to have again. I was hoping that it would be as great as I remembered ... it was. We started with Cozze alla sambuca. I would not have thought of putting fennel or sambuca with mussels, but it was a good combination. The other players (shallot and herbs) were well balanced too. The Insalata de Cesare was fresh and well dressed, with a generous portion of shaved parmesan. The Chitarrucci was the star, with pasta cooked just right and plenty of mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and clams. If I have to be picky, the calamari may have been slightly over cooked, but I'd order this dish over and over again. (I didn't taste it, but the gentleman at the next table had a beautiful plate of ossobuco, with the osso standing up in the middle of the risotto with a sprig of herb 'planted' in the marrow. He said it was great) If you're anywhere near Boothbay, make a reservation and try Ports of Italy.

We shared a Caesar salad, which was fine, but it was nothing memorable either. We each got our own entrees, which we hadn't been doing because it's usually too much food, and since we were on a road trip, there wasn't much point to requesting doggy bags like we normally would because we wouldn't be able to eat the leftovers. Unfortunately, neither of us finished our meals... they were both tasty, but we ended up leaving food on our plates. I hate wasting food like that. I think we'll return to our one-entree-and-share-it protocol for the remainder of our trip. That seems to be working for us. My chicken dish, Pollo con Funghi, which came with tomatoes, olives and mushrooms in a white wine butter sauce seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano, was tasty, but it was too large a portion for me to finish. There was also some squash, and we had ordered a side of spinach, too. I was very sad to not have taken the remaining food for leftovers. Would've been great. My husband ordered the Ravioli di Astice, which was lobster and ricotta filled ravioli in a prosecco and aurora sauce. Not sure what aurora sauce is, but when I tasted it, the sauce was delicious. My issue with his dish was that the ravioli was severely undercooked, and it was way too chewy... definitely not al dente. They simply didn't cook it long enough, which was a shame because the flavors were excellent. Big miss for an Italian restaurant. I suppose I'd give this place another try if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Boothbay. We definitely would have to agree on one entree between the two of us, though, so we don't waste food.
