Every year my family and I are in Ogunquit for a week over the July 4th holiday. Every year we visit Angelina's multiple times. It is just as good now as it has always been. This year on one of the occasions we went, we happened to try to get in after 9pm, the staff was clearly in close up mode so we felt bad, but David and the bartender insisted we come in for our nightcap. We had our drinks and left, also as usual the drinks were very good. We returned the next day for dinner, we started with the provolone slab appetizer, then I had the lobster risotto, which was loaded with lobster and really tasty. My wife had scallops, and we both enjoyed an amazing martini. David, our server, and the rest of the staff were all amazing as usual!! read more

Overall a nice dining experience. First, this is an old school Italian family restaurant, and so expect the dining to be loud, very very loud, with lots of families and children dining and moving about the dining room. While that's fine, I just wasn't expecting it. It is very difficult to hold a conversation with others at your table. Although we had a reservation, we were given a buzzer and our table was ready just a few moments past our reservation time. We were promptly greeted by a service person who poured our water, but it was a good 15 minutes or so before our server came to the table. She apologized and it was obvious the restaurant was in full service, even at 6PM on a Tuesday evening. You must have a reservation. The restaurant does provide a complimentary bread service, which is becoming more or a rarity these days. The arancini appetizer was quite delicious and was enjoyed by everybody at the table. The stuffed mushrooms were also delicious. I ordered the bolognese pasta dish and was quite surprised to be served a true al dente pasta. Our waitress told us the pasta dishes were great and everything made in house. While the pasta was good, the bolognese sauce wasn't really to my personal taste. Again, this sauce is made so many different ways. Nothing wrong with it, just not one of my favorite here unfortunately, with the sauce being a bit acidic. All in all, the entrees were enjoyed by the others at our table. If you are looking for a solid family style Italian dinner in Ogunquit, then this will hit the spot. No worries about bringing children or babies, all seemed welcome. If you are looking for a quiet or more intimate dinner, this may not be the best choice. read more

Food was overall good and our party of 9 received great service! As a Chicagoan, it's hard to find Italian food that blows me away. The ravioli dough thickness was thicker/denser than I like, but the cheesy filling didn't fall out which is the key to a good ravioli. I also thought it was crazy that vodka sauce was a $5 up-charge, which is the highest sauce up-charge I've ever seen (and it needed more cream). Valet parking is required and the lot was like a zoo, but the valet team was working SO hard to accommodate the crowds and their efficiency deserves an award. Came with my dad on a Saturday night and they were PACKED. Host station was efficient and we were seated within a few minutes. Service was friendly and attentive (multiple people offered us Parmesan and pepper). Food was just good, not great. For apps we got the mushrooms stuffed with crab meat (Dad said it was good but filling) and I had the bruschetta "classic" board which was 5 big pieces - an app to share for sure. Tasted good but it was like the Parmesan wasn't salted (maybe it was really Romano?!?) so it lacked something. For entrees Dad got the Scalapini Angelini with veal which he said was good. I got the homemade cacio e pepe which was just okay. The dish was unsalted (including the pasta which didn't seem to be cooked in salted water) but I asked for some salt and that helped a lot. Service was excellent- well trained staff. Portions were generously sized so we split a salad, dinner, and side vegetable with leftovers. $100 for the entire meal. Caprese salad would have been better with well ripened tomatoes. Stuffed shells were good. Italian sausage was excellent. Side of sautéed mushrooms was tasty- sprinkled with fresh herbs and not greasy. The biggest drawback was our seating and the noise- literally sitting in the parking lot- I could reach over the rail and touch the parked cars. The noise level makes it hard to hear your dinner companions- even though we were in an outdoor area. The space is uncomfortably tight. We had the most amazing dinner and experience last week at Angelina's !! Love the valet parking - takes all the stress away from trying to park ( like many years ago when we had to find a space up the street). The valet personnel were friendly, quick and efficient.. For such a huge crowd they really had their act together and were customer-focused . Also, I loved the buzzers provided while we waited for a table, which was surprisingly quick even on a busy night - we only waited 15 minutes - very much appreciated ! Once seated, We started out with mango martinis (Yum!) and they were superb.. just what we needed after a hot day at the beach .. Then we ordered the haddock special - delicious, tender haddock, lightly battered with a lemon butter sauce - wow! I was blown away by this dish it was so delicious !! And the homemade pasta on the side was also very good.. The service was outstanding and the restaurant vibe was great too .. I highly recommend this restaurant and kudos to the chef, wait staff, host staff, etc .. we will definitely return next year when we're back in Ogunquit!! read more

Still 5 stars. My mother son and I went tonight. We had an Aran ini appetizer which was absolutely delicious. My mother ordered bolognese while my son had chicken parm and I had chicken piccata. My son was delighted by the parm and my mother enjoyed her meal while longingly looking at the parm I always consider other choices on the menu as I'd love to try the ravioli, the beef or some of the other dishes but I always end up back on the piccata which never disappoints. Started off with a meatball appetizer which was good but not great. They are giant size meatballs but for $18 they better be. My ceaser salad was good but not great. Very unprofessional, the hostess hands out buzzers for you to come and sit at your table, when they are ready for you, there was no order to when we were sitting down to eat, :45 after our reservation time we were sat across from the bussing station and all we heard was the clashing of plates and glasses! Extremely shitty experience! It seems that they kept seating larger parties and kept us waiting until the restaurant had cleared out !!! We had the pleasure of dining at Angelina's on a Tuesday night in June. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like family. Our waiter was Corey and bus person was a young woman named Purnell. Both were proficient, friendly, and attentive throughout our entire meal. My wife had the lobster ravioli that was done in a light tomato, basil, cream sauce. It was delicious! I had the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and broccoli. The pasta was cooked to perfection and a symphony of flavors accompanied every bite. My previous review is included in the photos... My opinion has changed. 5 stars on food, service, and atmosphere. So why the rating with a one star review? We had a mix of families with two young children. With children we intentionally made our reservation for 4:30pm. Our waiter, who by his statements is one of the owners, was phenomenal (professional and kind); our backwaiter/server assistant was amazing and very kind and understanding to our children; however, the host, was incredibly rude. At the end of our meal my 2yo niece fell and hit her head. As any 2yo would do, she cried, loudly. Her father attempted to console her, but realized she was very upset and removed her from the restaurant. As he was exiting the restaurant the host/manager (David) made inappropriate comments regarding him needing to get her out immediately. When confronted regarding this, the host became argumentative and lied regarding the statements he made. He refused to take accountability for his actions or statements. I spent 20+ years in the tourism industry in a business that prided itself on excellent customer service. If any employee of mine spoke to customers like that in front of me, I would be livid. If you want a phenomenal meal, with a decent chance of horrendous customer service, then this is your place. I'm sure the restaurant will reply to this, as they seem to do frequently, and will offer some other variation of the truth. If you only want to cater to adults and couples only, then you might not want to operate a business in a family friendly tourism driven area. Reply to David: Not once during our meal did any staff approach our table regarding noise or complaints from other guests. We were in a side room with no other guests until the very end of our meal, when my niece fell. At this time there was one other family at one of the two tables. Additionally, the interaction between myself and the host occurred at the host stand, in a different area of the restaurant away from guests. As predicted, you have created a web of lies to support your host's inappropriate behavior. Your reply solidifies my experience, as well as many other reviewers' similar experiences with management. I asked for a different table that was not by the walkway and the manager (or at least he said he was the manager, made a face, made a negative comment rolled his eyes and then sat at another table and said in is this suitable for you. My sister and I felt uncomfortable being treated this way by the man. After our dinner, (which was very good) and our waitress Morgan was wonderful, as we left we said to him, you made us feel uncomfortable the way you handled this and I couldn't believe that he was even more sarcastic said sorry about that, that he didn't think he didn't think he did anything wrong and told us to leave. Shocked to be treated this way - even more uncomfortable. We asked to speak to the manager and he said I'm the manager. My lovely bride and I ordered the Gnocchi di Roma to start, and might I say they rename it to Gnocchi di Undercooked! Never felt a texture quite like it. We painfully endured the appetizer hoping it was a one off and moved on to the entrée. I ordered the Rollatini while the wife ordered the veal parm. While her entrée was surprisingly cooked correctly, my Rollatini was dry, bland and was a painfully small portion. The valet parking was horrible. The line was out in the road. No where to park the cars. We were in the turning lane for 10 minutes. Cars were coming towards us head on. Griffin from valet was extremely rude. The valet runners were very young and inexperienced. There was nowhere to put the cars. It was extremely stressful. We finally got inside and had a 7 pm reservation and were given a buzzer and were finally seated at 7:20. The waitress wasn't friendly. We ordered an appetizer. Nobody ever cleared our appetizer plates and dinner came out. The food was absolutely delicious. If we didn't have the valet issue and had to wait I would have given it a 9 or 9.5 but due to all the issues gave it a 7.5. It was also very loud. You definitely couldn't have a conversation. Not sure we would go back. Disappointing! Spoke to the owner regarding the parking and he never followed up with us. Many people were beyond frustrated with the parking situation. read more

Time to write a new review for Angelina's. My wife and I have been back at least a half dozen times since our last review. Every time the meal has been excellent. In fact we went last night. My wife had the Rigatoni Bolognese and she raved about it. I had my favorite, pork chop parmigiana with pappardelle and puttanesca sauce. It did not disappoint. The sauce was one of the best, fresh and just the right taste. The portions are plentiful. We finished with carrot cake which also was great. We started with the incredible meatball appetizer; tender, flavorful, and generously portioned, and the fried mozzarella, which was crispy on the outside and perfectly melty inside. Although the front hostess kept us waiting almost 15 minutes before opening and was gold and rude, the server and food were above average. Went with a large party of 10 I'd say 9/10 orders were fantastic. The 10th, however, was garbage -- inedibly tough veal on dry pasta. They didn't speak up, though, so... shame on them! Ambiance was great but with such a large party we practically turned a whole section into a private room. 3 stars because the valet and entire end to the meal was the most ridiculous thing I have ever witnessed in a restaurant. Someone asks us how many cars we have between us. We don't think anything of it because the parking is a known nightmare. The lot is too small and it's always backing up onto the main road. We were in the middle of dessert but apparently the valet was closing so 4 guys bust in yelling and waving keys. Ok. Take the keys and tip (not sure why, because we will be collecting our own cars from... somewhere?) Why did they ask how many cars? Oh, because they added a per car valet charge to the bill without any notice. Again, not sure why, since the valet left (the restaurant wasnt closed, just the valets were leaving), and we'd have to find our own cars. Classy. Edit: Reduced from 3 stars to 1 star after being personally attacked and called a liar by the management. Like I said, classy! Apparently all the other reviews/comments about the valet are some sort of mass delusion we're experiencing. Good thing the management has the free time to set us straight, personally attacking any critical review, rather than actually provide friendly or productive service! I hate to say this, but Angelina's was recommended by so many people we know and we were quite disappointed. We started off sharing a Caesar salad which, for $14 was tiny and lacking dressing. I had the grilled salmon with risotto and spinach. Everything was so over seasoned with salt and pepper. I couldn't eat the spinach. The risotto was good, but again, the salmon was covered with large pieces of pepper. My husband had the house special and he said it was "pretty good" but the shrimp still had the shell tails on. For an expensive dish that was covered in a creamy sauce, you couldn't tell that the shrimp still had its shell on. We spent over $100 without drinks for a very disappointing meal. We won't go back. Dining at Angelina's is like stepping into an episode of a culinary reality show. This restaurant has been a go-to spot when visiting Ogunquit, despite the Manager/Owner's unpredictable demeanor (Definitely not Mr. Sunshine ). Our experience wasn't exactly "unpleasant", but definitely memorable. The veal chop was perfection, and the Rollantini Di Pollo was outstanding, although it wasn't actually "rolled." The parmesan risotto lacked flavor. It was as if the cheese had a fear of commitment and decided to ghost us halfway through the meal. My friend's shrimp scampi was practically swimming laps in butter. Last time, it was sautéed to perfection, but this year, it seemed the shrimp were in training for the Olympics. Service is another consideration, especially on vacation. We received a brusque "Do you have a reservation?" greeting. We did, for the bar, but were told there was a time limit on those seats. So, we opted for a table. We were seated in a corner with menus piled on to one plate. Water arrived quickly, which was nice, and soon after, the bartender approached and asked if we were ready to order drinks. I don't remember his name, but he's been there for years and is always friendly, accommodating, and attentive. All the bartenders, including one who looks barely old enough to be in a bar (he is, I asked ), make amazing drinks and are very friendly. I've only sat in the bar area, so I can't speak to the service for the rest of the restaurant, but the bar has never disappointed. The highlight of the evening was when the manager approached our table, opened a door clearly marked "Not An Exit," stared into the abyss for a moment, closed it, and walked away without a word. Maybe he was checking for a secret stash of parmesan missing from the risotto? I thought it was a bit rude until he showcased his vocal prowess by shouting to the bartender across the restaurant while we were trying to converse. Clearly, he flunked Manners 101. I'm guessing Nonna would not approve. In summary, the food was good but inconsistent, the drinks are amazing (extremely consistent), and the bartenders are professional, friendly, kind, and approachable. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, had a reservation and was told upon arrival they were "just setting our table" which is funny because after 30 minutes of waiting past our reservation time and finally got called in, we sat down to an empty table with no utensils. Food: the slab of provolone was as good as it sounds, and the sauce that was with the ravioli aragosta was wonderful. The chicken parm was nothing to write home about and the sauce that was with the pasta was spicy, which caused me to only eat one piece of the chicken before I called it quits. My friend enjoyed the scallop risotto which had a seafood stuffing that was really good. And the side of mac and cheese that came with my other friends was out of this world delicious and packed with flavor. I think food wise I would only come back for the Mac and cheese. Atmosphere: it was quite dim inside and also loud. They have a good amount of space inside.
