I cannot in good conscience recommend this jeweler to anyone due to the terrible experience I had with them. Some pros to start: the facility is quite nice with private parking. They have security at the doors and when you come in, you are welcomed and directed to where you'd like to go. The jewelry looked quite nice and overall, I had been hoping for a great experience. I was going there to purchase an engagement ring and possibly a full wedding set. I had been doing my due diligence and looking at / interviewing several different local jewelers. I knew that although I wasn't sure where I'd purchase my center stone as I wanted to keep my options open, I wanted to get my setting done at a local jeweler. I was okay with purchasing a setting but also very interested in getting a custom design done. I was directed to Angela Vereb, their "engagement specialist". She showed me several rings that were not to my taste. So, we started discussing the custom ring design process. I asked several questions including questions about setting fees if I purchased a stone elsewhere but purchased the setting at their location. This seemed to be the "wrong" question to ask. She paused awkwardly for a moment then said, "Why would you purchase a stone elsewhere?" She proceeded to basically talk down to me, saying that purchasing online or anywhere else for that matter was the wrong thing to do. She also said I had no experience purchasing jewelry before so I wouldn't even know the differences on a good or bad diamond. That there were different labs with different gradings and only their specialists knew the difference and only the ones they chose were the best of the bunch and that the diamonds sold online were all the "leftover" garbage diamonds. First of all, that entire conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. It was also extremely insulting to me. Even if I knew nothing about jewelry, I would appreciate being educated on it but not be berated about the things that I might not know. With her attitude and tone of voice, she essentially called me stupid for even thinking about buying a stone anywhere else. I got upset and then asked her about which labs certifications their stones had (since I HAD done my research and knew what the debate was in regard to GIA vs IGI certifications regarding lab diamonds, etc). She seemed a little surprised at that but also, seemed condescending at this point. Secondly, the comment on my jewelry buying experience. How is that any of her business? Whether I have a lot or none at all, it is not something to make me feel bad about. I didn't want to make a scene, so left quietly with my boyfriend. I also asked about pricing for the custom design process, but it's now been a week with no response other than a "we will get back to you with a quote". So, I'm officially calling it. It was a terrible experience from beginning to end. I can't imagine going there for any jewelry shopping, let alone something as momentous as an engagement ring. I'd be afraid of being talked down to or bullied into buying something I don't even want. And they would make the whole experience a terrible one. My recommendation. Just stay away. It's a little sad too. I would have been a long-time customer if this experience had been a positive one. One Swiss quality brand which didn't have anything I was interested in. They also had a fashion brand of crap watches at real watch prices. They have very limited selection of diamonds. Meanwhile their website shows so many diamonds. When you go to their store they show you two or three diamonds that they are trying to offload. They will negotiate pricing but they should have better selection. I don't understand why a jeweler would show diamonds on their website that they don't have in stock. Their staff isn't too knowledgeable either. I think today's customers are highly educated on the products they are purchasing. But the sales staff uses outdated sales techniques to sell diamonds. It's definitely condescending. You can buy diamonds with full transparency from websites like Whiteflash. Whiteflash shows you everything about the diamonds including ideal-scope images which tell you everything you need to know about the cut of the diamond. Whiteflash doesn't sell or show anything on their website that they don't have in stock or can't procure quickly. Roman Jewelers doesn't have ideal-scope images or ASET or Arrows imagery. Cut matters the most when comparing similar diamonds. Human eye can't perceive a difference between similar diamonds. At the very least you need a loupe. Personally I wouldn't buy diamonds from this place. As for other jewelry, I prefer JR Dunn for their competitive pricing and it doesn't require any haggling. They also don't have a big selection of watches. They have Rolex but they won't sell you one unless you buy a lot of jewelry. read more

We were very frustrated with our service unfortunately - we were told that we could have our ring specially cut by the manufactured to match my engagement ring and that we needed to order soon because the wedding was in 10 weeks so we wanted to make sure we kept to the timeline. We were told we'd get a call on Monday, after no call we called back ourselves the next day. This went on for a few weeks with poor communication and ultimately we were told we couldn't have the ring matched as originally promised. Priscilla has been an absolute god send during this whole process. My fiancé proposed to me on 5/30/2020 with a ring bought by another jeweler. It my was birthday and my husband wanted to gift me solitaire earrings. I go in there I see 4-5 salespeople busy with clients. Ok so we waiting right near the display to be acknowledge. Approx 5 mins went by. We saw one salesperson in her 60's got done with a customer and then she looks right through us without acknowledging us. We looked at her to help us. She looks at us and pretends to look around as if she didn't see us and then one young couple walks in and she does to them and helps them. It was like we were not needed there. It was so hurtful to not be acknowledged I don't know why they treat you like this. I had my daughter with me and it's sad for them to experience this. Please be beware of this store - I had a really bad experience here. Bad quality of jewelry and bad service. My fiance bought my ring from this store and I absolutely loved it. It was, after all, a beautiful ring. Months later I noticed that it had a chip in the corner of the stone! I was so sad, but my mother assured me that it would be okay, that these things happen- and that the jewelry store would take care of me. Her diamond actually chipped as well (25 years ago), And her jewelery store was so embarrassed that they had sold her such a diamond that they replaced it right away and continuously apologized. This was not the case at Roman jewelers. I came asking for help but the sales person was so snobby towards me. Maybe I wasn't a high enough paying customer but she just accused me of mishandling the ring and treated me very poorly. I told her it is not wise to accuse us, but she would not apologize. They did replace the ring for free, but I will never go back to this store again. I've become a loyal customer of Roman's Jewelers over the past few years because their service and quality of merchandise is the best in Central NJ. Over the years this has been my go-to store for birthday and anniversary gifts. On more than one occasion I would go into their store with a vague idea what I wanted. The sales staff - Jen and Dana would take their time showing me a variety of different options. What's great is that they keep photos and a record of your purchase history so they can better help you with gift ideas! They are friendly and knowledgeable. I felt like a Julia Robers from the movie "Pretty woman" who stopped at the wrong store for shopping. The moment me and my sis walked in there was this silence and a stare from all sales reps sending us the signals that we probably shouldn't be shopping here. We just came to resize the ring, but the attitude was so wrong that wanted to leave the store as soon as possible. The only nice person seemed to be a doorman/security guy. They do have a nice collection of designer jewelry, but I would never think of going back there to shop. read more

Service was mixed and left a bad taste in our mouths. I don't want to go back. We went in to have a piece of jewelry that we had bought online appraised before the end of the complimentary return period. We were willing to pay for the service, but the independent appraiser was not in. The woman who initially helped us was very nice and told us that she and the manager, who was a gemologist, could take a look for us. The manager, however, was brousque and condescending. When she came out to take a look at the jewelry and its certification, she trashed the rating system upon which its certification was based, implying that jewelry rated under that system, IGI, was worthless. She then saw in the certification report that the jewelry had a lab-created diamond and smugly stated, "so, it's not a real diamond," betraying both a dismissive attitude towards a potential customer's jewelry choices and a lack of understanding about lab-created jewelry. Finally she declared that she was going to have the stone steam-cleaned so she could inspect it better and when my fiancee told her that the other woman had already done that, she paused, rolled her eyes, and snidely emphasized that SHE was going to clean it, as if he was being intentionally difficult instead of trying to communicate information. The experience affirms our decision to bypass the brick and mortar jewelry store for our purchase. No rude salespeople to deal with. read more

First of all, during the pandemic, everybody wears masks, and when going to the counter, they disinfect everything. This store is clean. The layout of the store is open with a great selection. Every associate in this store is professional, very friendly, welcoming, and it's been a great experience from the first time I visited. I wanted a customized engagement ring and none of the other chain jewelry stores at the Bridgewater Mall offered anything unique or classy. Roman Jewelers carries Tacori so I knew they have good taste :) The sales person (I think her name was Allison) was very patient and mindful of our budget. She appraised the diamond we brought with us and helped me pick out a gorgeous halo setting for my ring. It took about 2-3 weeks for my ring to be completed and it's perfect!! I get a ton of compliments on the ring and I'm happy every time I look at my finger. It's been a year and a half since we purchased my engagement ring and I haven't had any issues. All the stones are in place and Roman Jewelers gave me awesome jewelry cleaner liquid that I use at home to keep my rings sparkly. Well, they didn't have exactly the one 'Celtic' that I was looking for, but they did have another I wanted to see and thought was lovely. The gal that helped me, however, did not want to go into the case to take it off a sleeve full of bracelets. She pulled out a box behind the counter with a gold bracelet and kept saying she would get the silver one "if I really wanted it". I made a comment on how she seemed reluctant, after several gentle comments that I wanted to see the silver one, and then gave up. I tried another silver one on, then left and went across the street to buy my bracelet at Bloomies. Business must be 'good' for them to be so reluctant. I began looking in earnest for an engagement ring in late August 2012. I had never bought very much jewelry in the past and this was a significant purchase for me. That's why I decided to write this review - for others who are in a similar position that I was in to benefit and perhaps save a substantial amount of time. Over the course of six months I visited a dozen stores, some of them repeatedly, and looked at a countless number of diamonds and rings to try and figure out what to get. I went to stores that came highly recommended by friends, I went to stores I knew nothing about, I went to a so-called diamond exchange (I would not recommend going to one to anyone), and visited a few stores in the diamond district in Philadelphia (again, I would not recommend stores in a diamond district unless you really know what you're doing). In a single day I visited four different jewelry stores in the Princeton/Lawrenceville, New Jersey area alone. I mention all of this because I want to qualify my statement of satisfaction working with Roman Jewelers to find an engagement ring. Before making a final decision, I wanted to visit a store that made custom jewelry thinking that a good jewelry smith would have a better selection of jewelry. Keep in mind every jewelry store will tell you they can do custom work, but Roman Jewelers actually showcases their custom work prominently on their website. The custom work featured on the website is ornate and I was looking for a very simple ring. So almost on a whim, I decided to visit the Roman Jewelers' Bridgewater location. I knew when I walked into Roman Jewelers that I was in a fine jeweler's establishment. Much more important than the well appointed showroom, the cases were filled with elegant pieces of jewelry. I could see myself wanting to buy almost anything in their cases, and, again, I don't buy jewelry. I was approached by Lucy at Roman Jewelers and told her exactly what I had said dozens of times to dozens of other jewelers: I wanted an heirloom quality solitaire within my budget. The very first diamond she brought out knocked it out of the park. Unlike other stores I had visited, at Roman Jewelers there were no games: no handouts on the four C's (all stores), no telling me the diamond was one certification and then pulling out a certificate that disagreed with what I was being told (other jewelry stores), no "high quality" diamonds that had defects visible to the naked eye (diamond exchanges), no diamonds which were obviously sitting in a vault for years that may have been scavenged from older jewelry (diamond district). Unlike stores that use location to justify high prices for lower quality jewelry (stores I visited in Princeton), at Roman Jewelers you receive market competitive prices for quality pieces. More simply, you're getting what you paid for, in this case, stunning jewelry with exceptional, premium-level service. Lucy was transparent, honest and accommodating. She took the time to show me exactly what I was looking at. I was treated very well and respectfully. There was no compulsion to purchase - no pressure at all. Everyone I dealt with over the next few weeks at Roman Jewelers was highly professional and extremely courteous - they continued to get to know me even after I had made my purchase and had to make a few adjustments in sizing the ring properly, making it an entirely warm and comfortable experience.
