Tropiano & Son jewelry store in Raritan offers excellent service, great selection of merchandise, precise repairs and beautiful design. Over the last several years, we can speak highly of each aspect. Once, while waiting for a new watch battery, my husband browsed around the store and found a lovely pair of circular earrings with diamonds. They were soon adorning my ears along with a matching necklace. Very beautiful. When one of the hands fell off my Ebel watch, I took it to Tropiano, and got it back in great shape within a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable price. A year or two ago, I went there with some diamond jewelry that I was not wearing. The staff members were SO patient and helpful. They turned my aunt's engagement ring diamond from the 1940's into a beautiful pendant. Even more astonishing was the by-pass ring they designed and created from two diamonds. Horrible. We went there over the summer looking for a diamond wedding band. They didn't have exactly what we wanted, but said they could custom make it and get back to us in a few days with a price after pricing out the stones. They seemed sincere about wanting the business but never got us a price, even after several follow up calls & emails. I recently went to Tropiano & Son to ask about repairing a beautiful keepsake necklace that was a gift from my mother. Although I have found the Tropiano & Son staff to be snooty in the past, the location is close to my home and I thought I would give them another try. The person who helped me was very "polite" and smiled a lot, but basically made rude remarks about my piece and refused to repair it, offering instead to sell me an expensive replacement chain that didn't look anything like the original. I thanked them for their time, and went down the road to a jeweler recommended by a co-worker - Ski Jewelers in Green Brook - where I found the staff to be warm and friendly, the items on sale to be of equally high quality, and where they repaired my necklace within five minutes at a minimal charge. A big thumbs up to this local business. Not only do they do excellent jewelry repairs their customer service is so personal and amazing. Several weeks ago, I had a semi precious stone fall out of a very special ring I had bought the day my dad died several years ago . I miraculously found the stone. I dropped it off at the jewelers just before I went on vacation entrusting it to their care. They told me if the repair would be more than expected they would let me know the cost. I got a message on vacation that the ring was done but no additional message regarding the cost so i assumes it would be a usual repair amount. When I called a few days after i got home, the repair cost was far more than i had budgeted for. I spoke to the manager and she graciously and quickly gave me a fair price that I could work with.
