Wished I had read reviews earlier. Had less than 1/8th on tank and ordered heating oil from Romeo's. I usually leave to make sure I get best price possible. Was quoted $1.73 a gallon to fill up. When I went to see this morning the gage was 3/4 full. Removed the plunger to make sure no air and reading properly. After seen the invoice in my mailbox I noticed paperwork said 149.9 gallons and driver handwritten full tank. What it also showed was price now @ $1.84 a gallon. It is a miracle that my tank is filled exactly at the price change mark. There are plenty of oil companies out there but I will most define would not be using this one. I hope the extra money made today is worthwhile loosing a client and will be sending letters to proper agencies to make them aware of the practices of this firm. read more

I've been using Romeo's for COD deliveries for several years, and I've had nothing but top-shelf service from the drivers and the ladies in the office. I occasionally call other companies to check Romeo's pricing, and I've never been swayed to another company because of price. This home heating oil company is as bad as it gets, starting with the owners. After placing and receiving my initial order for 150 gallons, the company decided, unbeknown to me that I'm not considered a new customer, and they had the gall to charge my credit card an extra $25 the day after the delivery. The only reason I placed my order with them was based on the extra $25 that they supposedly credit to new customers. I had to go thru my credit card company to do a charge back to recoup this bogus fee.The owner called me after I placed 2 calls and sent one email. He refused to give me his name. The furthest thing from his mind was honoring the receipt I have which shows the $25 credit that I was suppose to receive. He encouraged me to post reviews all over social media. I know Yelp is a place for bad reviews and overly picky customers. Usually the ones who have issues with everyone and everything. Anyway I want to say that Romeos Fuel has been reliable and honest since we started using them a few years ago. They are consistently lowest price out there especially when using a discount code on online delivery orders. The coupons bring the credit card price down below the cash price. It is convenient for me to order online and not have to worry about cash or being home at the time of delivery. I have ordered and when it doesn't fill to the amount i've purchased, I see a refund for the difference credited back to my card. You just have to know that you need to order at least 2-3 days before, to allow for delivery at busier times. So watch your tank level and order at 1/4 tank to below 1/2 tank. We've been using Romeo's fuel for a number of years, and never had any problems at all. Scheduling online is easy, as long as you can wait a few days. They frequently have coupon codes available to save a few extra bucks. I had been using Romeo's Fuel for over 3 years now, and I had been suspecting the intentional lower volume delivery but never actually cared to verify in numbers . Today , as I saw the truck , I went ahead got the actual reading in inches vs gallons, there were 325 gallons of fuel, I have a 550 gallon tank, the truck driver pumped 184 gallons and said my tank was full. It should have taken 225 gallons at least. He did that intentionally so I hit the less than 200 gallon mark to be charged more. read more

Very abrasive and nasty people that answer the phone . The first two deliveries I spoke to a women Kelly who said she was an office manager. She was not friendly at all and had an attitude. Because of lower prices, I figured I would place another order and disregard the fact that they run poor customer service.Called today and spoke to the answering service who the young girl sounded like she was 12 yrs old. She also sounded like she was outside walking. There was sound of wind as she was speaking. Asked for the office to contact me tomorrow because I did not feel comfortable giving my credit/debit card based on our conversation. A man by the name of "Big Paul" called me . He said he was one of the owners. I asked a couple of questions to him which he clearly had no patience to answer. He basically made me feel I was bothering him. At that point, I was so turned off I said "clearly you don't want my business and said thank you , have a nice day"! Customer service is key when running a business. You get nice with nice! I'm done with this company. I will stick with JC Discount (matched Romeos price) who has wonderful customer service! The girls are always pleasant! I received an email for $25 off for a new customer and after doing some calculating, I figured I could save some money and decided to give them a try. I ordered 150 gallons. The driver came and delivered 21.5 gallons. I called the office and they said he ran out of oil and would return later that day. I checked my mailbox the next day and received a second delivery ticket for 106.5 gallons. Again, they noted truck ran out of oil..... I called the office again and asked why they didn't return to fulfill my order of 150 gallons and was told, "oh I don't really know- SORRY" by a very snotty woman on the other end of the phone. She then says, well, we credited your account. I said I wanted the OIL, not the credit. Again "Oh, I don't know. SORRY". I said I'm sorry, but I am a new customer and this is how you treat people and then expect return business? Sorry, no way- lose my email address and phone #. I can't order anything from them because their credit card checking service always comes back "denied by AVT". I have never ever experienced this before. I've used each of my cards for at least 10 years and I always pay them off every month in full to avoid any and all interest charges and, yet, somehow my charge will not go through on their online system. However, the charge DOES appear in my credit card transactions for a few days until it eventually falls off. So it goes through at the credit card company, but somehow doesn't get recognized at Romeo's. But at least they never get my order, rather than get my order and do some of the things they apparently do to others. Also, beware about their "call-in price" being much higher than their online price. As soon as I said that I couldn't get my online order to go through, they took my order at a price many cents higher than their online price. I didn't know that at first, but when I confirmed the "per gallon" price while placing my order, and hearing about how the "call in" price was so much higher than the online price, I told them to "cancel". Which, come to think of it, may be the reason the online order doesn't go through: to get you to call in instead and, thereby, pay a much higher "call-in" price. And if you don't ask them to confirm the price they'll be charging you, you may never be aware that they'll charge you a much higher price than you were expecting. read more

We ran out of oil, so we checked CODFUEL and decided to go with Romeo's because of the cheap price for 200 gallons. Again, our 275 tank was EMPTY. So the next day they show up, but for some reason only deliver 189 gallons, which conveniently enough for them, bumps us into the next price category. We call and ask why they delivered less than we requested, and ask them to honor the lower price for those 189 gallons since it was their mistake. Of course they refuse and claim that our tank could not be filled any higher or else it would have overflowed. This is not true. At all. THE TANK WAS EMPTY. So either they are thieves, or their delivery people are incompetent. Probably both. So we were overcharged by about $10. A small rip-off, but a rip-off nonetheless. And it looks like they pull this nonsense with a lot of their unsuspecting customers. So in the end it really adds up for them. DO NOT USE ROMEO. So I have been using Romeo fuel for about 4 years and deliveries were always made based on my availability. I am not sure who is running this office at this point by they (she) can care less about keeping customers. One time in Feb 2018 I on a Thursday and tried to get a delivery for Fri Sat and or Monday and was told no next delivery day was Tuesday I told them I needed before hand and would have to call someone else, her response ok. Sure enough I called another company and was told the same but when i informed them it was an emergency the company who I never used before made it happen. I just placed another order online for a cash delivery and scheduled it for Sat. I received a call from a woman and said they only can schedule 2 days in advance due to change in oil prices. I said that is fine I will pay what the price difference is from Monday to Wednesday she replied I would have to reorder on Wednesday so I ask isn't this something that you can arrange she replied no, so should I cancel. I said yes cancel and explained this is now the second time that did not accommodate me and will no longer use their services which she said ok not a care in the world that she lost a customer. i will never use them again unless they get their office staff in order read more

This business is a bunch of crooks. As stated in several previous reviews, they stopped pumping, said my tank was full, gauge is reading 3/4 ... not even close. So, I got charged more money for less oil. That is LITERALLY stealing. The price I agreed to, is the price I agreed to. When you call and speak to someone, they do nothing but take the word of the driver - who is doing nothing but making them more money... and tell you "nothing we can do." Do not use this company! I know I have a 275 gallon tank. It had a little less then 1/4 of oil in tank. I ordered 200 gallons. They delivered 180 gallons and my gauge was still low and was at 3/4 full. No doubt they are playing games, with their Meters. I called and they said maybe I have an "air pocket in my tank". I have never in all my years had an issue with an "air pocket" in my tank and if that was the case unhook the hose and let the air out and and refill remaining oil. They ripped me off. read more

We have used them several times in the past and previously never had a problem. This time we had a delivery scheduled and left explicit directions to put oil in the tank on the northeast side of the building. It says as much on the delivery ticket. We weren't here at the time of delivery and they didn't follow instructions and put it in the tank on the west side of the building. When I called to them to correct the situation it took two messages before we received a return phone call. When Anthony(the owner) did call me back he said there is nothing he could do and refused to be responsible for his drivers actions. Mistakes happen however as a business owner I would think he would want to make his customers happy, however he refused to help and wound up hanging up on us without any resolution. We have been using romeos for YEARSS. why I'm not sure cause the only good thing is their prices. Their customer service is worse than any company I have Ever dealt with. They do not answer and allow you to leave a messege to call back. Then NEVER DO! They only take their coupons via their website but the website NEVER has worked since starting online services. We literally have to call and call and call and call until we finally reach someone and they tell us to use the website...WE CANT YOU DIMWITS! they then try to argue with you and get snippy after all this BS. Firstly don't give US the attitude when you guys are the one constantly messing up. You should be begging us to stay with you and offering us discounts for the week it took us to get ahold of you. This last time we had to get oil our burner was clogged and they didn't responded for 4 days during that cold spell!!! WE HAD NO HEAT FOR 4 DAYS!!! THEN WE HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER WEEKEND FOR A TIME SLOT. we had someone else come fix the burner by then. We had to wait a week for your oil. First and last time customer. Tenant in a home in Dix Hills. Called to order fuel, excited for the reasonable pricing. They ask where the tank is located, basement or underground. I say basement. Guy comes, fills what he thinks is the tank, who even knows what he filled? He says he "thinks" there's an abandoned underground tank on the property. Thinks?! Then they refuse to help me, telling me that I have to pump out the old oil from whatever they filled (IF anything), and put it in the basement tank! Is that even safe?! I'm disgusted. So here's my story: I first placed an order with Romeo's last fall. I have a 275 gallon tank and I ordered 200 gallons. The gauge on the tank was one click below 2/8ths. They came and filled the tank on the scheduled day, but they only filled 193 gallons. The "TANK FULL" box was checked. "Uggh," I thought, "I called to soon. Maybe the gauge was off." Next time, I let the gauge get MUCH lower... below 1/8th, almost empty. Again, I ordered 200 gallons. This time there was PLENTY of space in the tank for the full load. Again, they came on the scheduled day. And, much to my suprise, the receipt this time again said 193 gallons! And again, the "TANK FULL" box was checked. The proof is irrefutable: SCAM. COMPLETE SCAM. The people at Romeo's are rotten, stinking, pathetic, filthy theives. Anyone who does business with these jerks is basically just ASKING to be robbed. read more

We have been regular customers for a few years now, and we have dealt with their nastiness and unprofessional attitudes before, but have overlooked it as it was a few pennies cheaper. Today we decided that we were DONE.....as other reviewers said they give you a price based on a certain number of gallons purchased, and then deliver a few gallons less so they can charge higher prices. As well as they charge your credit card upon ordering, well before the several days before they will be delivering. (is that not illegal?) Today (Monday) we needed our delivery done before Thursday (order was placed AND paid for early this am, Monday). When I called to see if they could deliver before Thursday, (as I was running low), I was told they could possibly try for Wednesday and to " go to the gas station and buy 10 gallons of diesel to sclep back and add to my tank." (explained that a disabled person lives here). I called a competitor today and was told they could deliver tomorrow, they were VERY professional and sweet, Sandra assured me they would make delivery early the NEXT morning. Besides all the other crap from Romeo Fuel, the delivery driver bent my aluminum fence so that they didn't have to be bothered walking around the back of the house to deliver the oil (also caught an attitude once when the driver actually said how it's an" inconvenience" and that "time is money" when it comes to the delivery driver.) Called Romeo to cancel and they couldn't care less (After being a client for three or more years). For two cents more a gallon, (and that was with Romeo's online code promo), it is not worth it! I just recently started using Romeos Fuel (Winter 2018) for my home but seems like I should have read the reviews prior to using them. This company is a SCAM for sure and it took me a while to figure it out. I have a gauge on my tank to tell me how filled up the tank really is. Seems like when you order the amount of gallons to top off the tank, they normally never reach the FULL mark making sure we pay the higher gallon price even though you ask for the 150-199 tier price. Once they delivered, I looked at my gauge when getting home and what do you know??? The meter was only 3/4 topped off and they claim the tank is full. Meaning they only probably filled up 149 and charged me the higher price per gallon which was already paid in advance by credit card. I smell BS. I ordered oil from Romeos Fuel Oil on a Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning I realized heat was not coming on and we had run out of oil. I Called them immediately to ask for an emergency oil delivery. Since the temperature was supposed to go down to 18 degrees F. That evening, it was necessary to have heat. They told me they could not get me oil until Monday! I begged them to deliver even 100 gallons (I have a 1,000 gallon oil tank). I explained that I had my elderly mother in law living with us, but they honestly didn't care. They were absolutely Heartless. I asked to speak to a supervisor but got nowhere. They are cheap, but that is all they are. DON'T depend on them for anything beyond the ordinary. I will NEVER use them again. They say you get what you pay for. Couldn't be more true here! read more

Never delivered fuel charged my credit card ! I ran out of oil 2 days after they said they delivered i begged owner to come down and dip the tank he refused. Thankfully I was able to get another company to come and dip the tank and it was bone dry! Having been a customer for more than a year I ordered 200 Gallons of fuel on line as I usually do. I was quoted a price of $2.08.9 for a total or $428.25. When the delivery was made I received a bill 194.6 Gallons at $2.15.9 for a total of $430.64. When I called to question the price adjustment I was told that I needed to get 195 gallons to maintain the 200 gallon price. I told her that I was less than half a gallon under the 195 and therefore I paid more for less fuel oil. I asked for the price to be readjusted back to the original price and was told NO. I advised her that due to the lack of customer service and the fact Romeos Fuel Oil does not give a damn about their loyal customers I would be forced to purchase my fuel oil elsewhere. The absolute WORST experience I've ever had with a fuel company! Tank was at 1/4 full, I ordered 100 gallons, prepaid. Checked tank at end of the day, still showing only 1/4 full. Called company, was told by woman in office delivery was made at 6:15 am (while I was home getting ready for work), BUT they only put in 58 gallons because that's all it would hold?! How is that possible when I only had a 1/4 tank?? Transferred to Paul, the owner, who was the rudest, most intimidating person! FIRST thing he says is, "I don't even know how this order got through--we don't even deliver to your area." Insisted delivery was made. He told me receipt probably blew away. Told me my gauge was probably broken. Blamed the 58 gallon delivery on "faulty equipment" on my end! While I am trying to process all of this, my neighbor across the street comes over---says MY RECEIPT WAS LEFT ON HER CAR which means driver delivered to her house, not mine! Try to get back on the phone with Paul. Girl in the office says he is not available, I tell her they delivered to the wrong house. Says Paul will call me back. I wait one hour before calling; he never called me back. When I call back I am told by girl in the office he has left for the day! The next morning I call Paul back early. VERY rude, and despite the fact that they obviously delivered to the wrong house, he is STILL insistent THEY DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE. Have to call work and tell them I will be late, because now I have to wait for the driver to come back to my house to straighten this all out. Very nice driver named Vito came to my door (AFTER he parked in front of my neighbor's house and looked around). He apologized profusely, and said yes, he delivered to the wrong house. Delivered my 100 gallons. Never got any sort of apology from Paul. All of this back and forth nonsense could had been avoided had Paul treated me with a shred of decency and respect, and admit that they may have made an error. If that were the case, I would have let it go. They only delivered 90 and charged me a higher price per gallon. They told me that my gauge was probably sticky, but it is a brand new oil tank. They just wanted to charge the higher amount. When I called, the man who answered the phone was so rude. Also, to top things off, when my husband got home and went to check the gauge, he noticed the delivery person had left the cap off the fuel tank. I placed an order through the CODFUEL app on Friday 12/11 for a delivery on 12/13. Fuel delivery never came, I tried calling and emailing Romeo's multiple times, and only got an answer when I contacted codfuel to cancel and get a refund. Romeo's reasoning was that I had a balance from taxes not being taken out of fuel deliveries from my previous residence. So two years and probably 4 fuel drops later, Romeo's remembers I have a balance. And instead of calling me to resolve the issue, they just don't deliver the oil that I paid for. I will never be using Romeo's fuel again, if I could rate them 0 stars I would. Have a safe and happy holiday! read more

Well I've never had any of these problems that the other reviewers are having..... been using for 3 years since I bought my house, seriously i honestly surprised how bad they are, it doesn't seem like reviewers are untruthful but nothing like that every happen to me.... I always order on-line via CC that way i dont have to be there(with the online offer they send in email usually .07 off) and usually just order 200-220 gallons, about 3 times a year Nov, Jan and march then that will last me till Nov... I have paid for the additive, and they always leave me empty container to prove the put it in. i usually wait till about an 1/8th of a tank to fill up. read more

I live 2 block from the LIE service road and it is a miracle that she was not hit by a car. They didn't deliver after I called to check the delivery window then called again and the lady on the line said they were there but left no reason for why they didn't deliver the heat oil. No one rang the bell or called me. She said they won't be able to deliver today and offered the next delivery in 3 days but she'll check with the truck driver and call me back. couple of hours later - still no call. Just sounds like they don't want the business otherwise they would make an effort to deliver on the scheduled date. Also wished I had read the reviews on here before I even ordered - last few times it looked like the tank wasn't filled even though it should have. Very good prices, service is good. I always read any additional information if there is a backlog, they let you know. I also make it a point to ask over the phone if there is a concern. I make sure I measure my oil in the tank, so I don't cut it close, then blame them if I run out. I also know they will not overfill the tank as not to cause any damage. Although there will still be some room for additional oil, they will not top it off to avoid overflow. I would recommend them an continue to use them.. read more

I've always compared prices to several oil companies and Romeo's always has the best price. I was a JC fuel customer until they stopped matching prices that were lower than them as they promised to do and became way more expensive. Had one hiccup with Romeo on my first delivery and took a while to give them a second chance but since then they've been my go to for years now and they never disappoint. read more
