UNRELIABLE and DISHONEST. Families, Elderly, Disabled Americans must be able to rely on their oil company to deliver even in inclement weather. I received an email from Anthony asking to clear a path for the driver. I have never been asked by an oil company to go out and dig a path, other oil companies come prepared with boots and snow pants. Nonetheless, I went out and shoveled a path down to the grass for them. Even though I spent an hour clearing the path and the roads were dry enough for the school buses and other oil companies Romeo's cancelled their delivery. When I was called by their staff to tell me they canceled the order they wanted to hear nothing of it. They have no care for their customers who rely on them. I find this to be a theme in other poor reviews. If I was the owner, I would be concerned about how their employees treat customers, although maybe they don't care either. I ended up calling CJ Fuel in Wyandanch, I told them my situation, they were here within 3 hours to fill my tank. Thank You CJ FUEL! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. A long time ago this company delivered to the wrong house on the wrong street! Then said it was my fault that their driver went to the wrong block. The street names are completely different. They then said it was my responsibility to pay for the oil in someone else's home. Then when I said I will not pay for it they tried to make the other people pay for it when they already had a contract with someone else. Now they demand that I be present for all deliveries (even though I am using a credit card for payment) at all times. Today they decided to show up at 6am and call me to come outside. I was sleeping and they choose not to deliver because I did not answer. When I called back they defended the drivers decision to not deliver. There were 4 cars parked in front of the house proving that people were here. Trust me do not use this company customer service is completely rude and their policies are completely off. read more

I see some of the negative reviews. I don't doubt that some might have had a problem. I have been using Romeo for almost a year now. I have paid less than any published price I have seen. Their service has been spot on, with deliveries always happening the day promised. I give them 5 stars because oil is a commodity product, so all that there is to sell is price and service. I had ordered oil from them in 12/21 & 1/22. No problems. Delivered. Polite. Fair price. I placed the online order Friday night. had to wait until Monday. I had under 1/4 tank on a 225 gl tank. I ordered 100 gallons, and then I left for Vermont. Apparently, the company suddenly decides I need some adapter thing and the driver pumps 10.8 gallons. Then he leaves. He calls me after he's left the house. I called the company and some lady said, yeah, we charged you over 4 bucks per gallon and a 50 dollar fee." I went nuts. I then got a text " no whistle ( whatever that is), no oil. But THE DRIVER HAD ALREADY PUMPED 10.8 gallons AND THEY NEVER HAD THIS ISSE BEFIRE WHEN THEY DELIVERED. I JUST LOOKED.....guess there's a reason they have 2 stars. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. you get what you pay for. My original guy charges 3 cents more per gallon, but he's got integrity. I ordered 150 gallons of oil on March 29th and they made the delivery the next day. I unexpectedly ran out of fuel on April 14th. I only turned on the heat a couple of days in between this time period and there are no problems with my furnace which means the only explanation is that the company did the fill the ordered amount. I called to inquire about this discrepancy and they rudely yelled at me and hung up the phone. Never buy heating oil from this company because they will steal your money! read more

I was almost attacked by the driver. I called the police for the first time in my life and filed a police report. The tank took less than I ordered and questioned the bill to the driver, nicely, with a $1000 in cash, in the driveway, ready to pay. The driver instantly stuck his middle finger 2 inches from my face and told me to F myself and stop wasting his F'in time. Without saying a word I went into my car as we were in the driveway and felt unsafe. I called the company while still in the car to let them know what happened. The driver came over to the car window giving me the finger and SCREAMING "I'll get my F'in money one way or the F'in other" I then called the police and a patrol car came and I paid in full in front of the officer. First time in my life I felt threatened enough to call the police.. I spoke with the owner and as others have said he could care less and only wanted his money. I do not give criticism casually, so please read my thorough account if you are considering Romeo's fuel because of their high quantity of feedback, especially on Codfuel or other similar aggregation sites. My account is strictly based on my own experiences. I've used Romeo Fuel twice so far for my Huntington Station home. The first time, it was when my oil fuel gauge showed just below 1/8 full. Like many others, I wait until I have at least 200 gallons of space, so that I could reap the best discount. Romeo Fuel filled my request of 200 gallons and my fuel gauge showed as just over 3/4 full upon completion. So far, just as I expected. The second time around, at an even lower gauge level (between 1/8 and zero), Romeo Fuel filled my oil tank with only 187 gallons, below the requested 200 gallons. This raised the per-gallon cost from 1.91 to 1.98. They stated on the receipt that their filler stopped automatically and that they could not go any further. The gauge, once again, was only slightly above 3/4 at this point. I figured "ok...Ill give them the benefit of the doubt...maybe my gauge isnt calibrated well, the arrows may have pointed in the wrong direction of my tank walls, etc...perhaps I still had a lot of fuel left". Now mind you, this would mean that in the future, when my gauge is near 1/8, that I shouldn't need to call for a fill immediately...that I should have AROUND 60 GALLONS LEFT (235 max fill of a typical 275 gallon tank - 187 gallon fill = around 60 gallons left)! Well, tonight, about two months later, I noticed that my thermostat showed a nippy 58 degrees in my home, and I had no domestic hot water. The burner had apparently gone out. The gauge...right at zero. I did not have any fuel left, let alone 60 gallons remaining! Now, tell me...if a "full" tank is at 3/4 gauge, how the hell is an empty tank at 0...after just over 187 GALLONS of usage?? Did Romeo's Fuel actually fill up my tank as much as they could? In summary, there is no logical conclusion other than that Romeo Fuel bilked me out of $13 of subsidy, and left me at the end with a false sense of a good value, and of course, a cold shower to boot. My suggestion, if you want to make sure you are always precise...let your burner go out on purpose, draw a line on your gauge with a black marker to indicate that is empty, and then call a reputable company to fill up your tank. Bleed and turn on. Then you will know exactly how much it holds, and when you will truly run out. Then use this, and hold your oil company accountable. read more

Don't let yourself be lured in by the low price because I promise you they well intentionally deliver you less oil to raise your price per gallon. When you call they basically tell you tough luck. This has been several occasions I have them the benefit of the doubt more than once. Call around to better companies and request they match romeos price. That's what I do. I was pretty shocked to see the negative reviews on here. Been with them at least 3 years and I have had not had even the slightest of issues. Always on time. I normally don't write bad reviews, but this time will make an exception and share my experience with Romeo's Fuel. Actually, it started during the winter: I placed an order, but it was impossible to reach anyone at Romeo's Fuel to confirm the delivery or cancel the order. We were simply left in a cold house until finally someone answered the phone and cancel my order. Few days after, I got an email from Romeo's Fuel soliciting my review. I responded to the email, explaining my terrible experience with their customer service. I expected that they seek customer's feedback to improve their customer relations. This morning I placed the order with Romeo's Fuel by mistake as I didn't realize at the time of placing order this is the firm that left us in cold for a week during the winter. Soon after the order was placed and delivery confirmation received, I received an email confirming that my order was canceled. I sent txt inquire with no answer, called few times and finally when I got someone on the phone, she told me that there is a note on my account and manager will call me. Manager called me back and, to my surprise, she said that because of my bad review my account is blocked! Terrible company. Rude employees right up to the manager. I highly recommend NOT going with them. Left my 4 year old son with autism and my 75 year old great aunt with no hot water/heat because their driver decided to literally run off since we were not fast enough at retrieving the cash. Tried to get oil from them twice, both times they messed my wife and I's schedule by re-scheduling throughout the day. I called to ask for a later delivery because we were going this Saturday and we couldn't continue to wait for the oil delivery ,the man who picked up the phone had a terrible attitude. I've been using Romeo's for 2 years and have been pleased with their service. I've had 5 oil tank fills with them. They always have great prices as well. They've always come when they said they will and leave a full tank. Maybe it's that I don't wait until the last minute to make the appointment. I guesstimate when I'll be down below an 1/8th and book the delivery. The delivery person has always been friendly and courteous (the same guy comes every time). This is my first house with oil heat and the he was nice enough to educate me on oil heating. The woman in the office that answers the phone has also been friendly and courteous. I read the other reviews and was genuinely shocked. I've never had a bad experience with this company. read more

Terrible. Guy quotes me for an estimated time of arrival at 12p. I stepped out from 10:40am to 11am and by the time 12:45pm rolled around I called to see what was going on. They told me that the driver had already stopped by and that they could reschedule for tomorrow. I complained that I had received no notice that he had arrived and that if I had known he did I would've called sooner. Manager tells me at 1p that he'd make a call out to the driver to see if he could drive back. Two hours later a general manager calls me to tell me that its customers like me that make him lose money. That if they give an estimate it's expected for you to be home all day. Which I thought was ridiculous because if they show up an hour and 15 min early then they should really give a window of arrival instead of an estimated time of arrival. He also said there was a driver who was in the area until 1:30 pm and that the reason they didn't send him was because they didn't like my tone. Very rude; I talked to three different people and none of them would let me speak or hear what I had to say. Terrible customer service. Their cheap, but that's the only thing good about them. I just started using Romeo's Fuel because my neighbor recommended them. This company is a HUGE SCAM. The first time I used them I ordered 150 gls. When I checked the gauge it was 2 quarters missing. I called the company back they said maybe something is wrong with the gauge. Ok I have been living in the house for 30yrs....it could be (??), give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered again this time 200 gallons, well this time it was 1 quarter missing. My boiler only takes 200 gallons, the gauge should have been on full. I will complaint to Consumer Affairs and everyone else that I'm able to. I will go back to my old company even though the price higher. I WILL NEVER USE ROMEOS FUEL AGAIN EVE IF IS FREE. placed an oil delivery online for 200 gal. with Romeo fuel on the Dec 31. Received an email that the oil would be delivered on the 3d. The money was taken out on the 2. I called to verify on the 3d (as the weatherman predicted snow and I now had ran out of oil), that they would be delivering. There was only an answering machine directing you to place your order online.So I went online and sent 2 emails. At 930 pm the "manager" called to say he didn't know when he would deliver the oil because of the upcoming storm. I explained i had run out of oil, and he was very unsympathetic and rude and complained of his lack of sleep and other snide comments and threatened to cancel my order. I told him i did not want to cancel ( we both knew it was going to be impossible to get another company to deliver before he could anyway, especially since i paid a lower price and he could get more now that the storm was approaching) So now, day after the storm on the 5th, i try calling, only a machine saying calls will not be answered, send an email, I did- to no avail. at 10 pm, I get a call from same man, same bad customer service, same sarcastic remarks, same complaints of how busy and tired he is, ( like I should feel worse for him than for myself worrying about my pipes freezing) this person was so extremely rude and unprofessional, it was clear I was not a valued customer. he told me a delivery woman came to my house that afternoon and felt it was 'unsafe" to deliver oil,-- and left! ( my driveway was completely shoveled) no call when she was there to say she was outside? He then told me my delivery would be available in 4 more days! Are you kidding pal? 9 days to get oil is ridiculous! I protested saying that was not fair or even humane. He said "ya know what?" I'm cancelling your order! yes i was kind of expecting that kind of remark as others on YELP said this company had a reputation to do this. especially because now he could get more money out of someone else because of the demand. and yes, I read the negative reviews here but thought somehow i would have better luck, and they were competitively priced, so i took the chance. They intentionally deliver less to bump me into the higher price level. Me and my husband have used romeos for about 6 months and at first everything was great besides the rude woman who always answers the phone. We had recently gotten a delivery and our receipt was left in the mail box asking for us to call the office with a balance of $86 dollars due on top of the $200 we paid which was for the 100 gallons that we ORDERED! My husband called and the woman had very casually said that there was a miss fill and that the driver had filled an extra 46 gallons in the tank before realizing g he was at the wrong the delivery! And then she proceeded to ask how we were going to pay for that remainding 46 gallons that were delivered because of the drivers mistake. We then looked further at our receipt and realized the receipt was for a home two blocks over and that address was crossed out and ours was hand written in which is extremely sketchy and very unprofessional. I then called the next day and spoke to a woman on the phone who was very rude and I tried to explain that we ordered 100 gallons not 146 and we paid for what we ordered and that I'm not understanding why I am required to pay for a mistake on their end. She then proceeded to tell me that we are going to use the oil so we need to pay for what we're going to use and that if we do not pay it would come out of the drivers pocket. I had then told this woman that I am very sorry that the driver would have to pay because it should just come from the company's pocket as whole but that me and husband should not be help accountable. She then tried to guilt me by telling me more about the driver and his life and I told her it is unprofessional to guilt someone in to paying for a mistake I realize no ones perfect but when there is a mistake made it should not fall on the customers back. Me and my husband are now still required to pay for the oil that was not ordered and will never return as customer and it's a shame. Since I bought my house in 2012, I have ordered from Romeo fuel quite a bit. I actually found Romeo in CODFUEL. I don't remember how I got involved with Romeo directly but I am glad I did. They frequently send out emails for discounts and at which you pay with credit card, which makes it very easy not to be home for. They have been cheaper than their competitors and the staff that I have met have been very nice. read more

I would give Romeo's NO stars if I could. I was a first time customer and the driver drove over two driveway lights, underground sprinkler head, and through my wife's rose garden. I saw the driver driving the truck down the driveway and going on the lawn. I ran out and banged on the truck for him to stop. He stops and shrugs his shoulders at me and continued to drive over the lights and garden. I tried to stop him as he drove down the road, to no avail. Accidents happen, but this was nuts. I called up the company and the manager/owner called me back and was skeptical of the damage even after I had emailed him photos. I told the owner to come right away and see the damage for himself. He said he would come by in a few days and that he would fix the damage. He said he was is a landscaper and could fix the damage and "make it right". He never showed up. Never called...nothing. The driver dumped a lot of oil at the fill site all over the base of my house as well. What a mess!! read more

This company is extremely unprofessional, unreliable and outright rude. I called them to get oil and when they told me they would call me the next day early morning I didn't hear from them until 11. At 11 they called me and at that point I had to run out for a few minutes. So they said they would come between 1:00-1:30. At 12:30 I received a call and said they were there. I said I would stop what I was doing to be there in 20 minutes. The guys reply was! I'm not f*^%ing sitting here for 20 minutes and hung up on me. So I decided to go to CODFuel dot com to check some prices, since my usual deliverer wasn't competitive anymore. Romeo's had the best prices, and without DIGGING through the reviews, they were rated 5 stars (um yeah, that's inaccurate to say the least). Ordered 150 gal @2.299/gal. Further inspection: looked through reviews and some are not so good. I figure, meh, maybe it's competitors messing with the reviews. That's not really going to happen to ME. They show and leave the bill in mailbox, saying they only delivered 33 gal. at $3.10/gal. Yes, that's 80 cents more a gal. Reason: No Whistle. Excuse me, but there IS a WORKING whistle, and living here for 4 years, never had a SINGLE problem. So I call them up, and they tell me that they will redeliver at promised price if we pay them to fix whistle. I tell them NO, I'm not going to pay you to fix a whistle that works! These people appear to be scammers. This could be their thing. Make multiple deliveries with new customers for small amts and jack up the price. Because it is a trend in their reviews and they use various excuses. Or maybe these jackholes don't know how the he ll to use a whistle (which somehow I doubt). When you see a bad review, just err on the side of caution. The 18 cents a gal. below everyone else should have been a RED FLAG. Now I've got to go with another company, and order the same amt of gal so that I can get the discount, and hope I can get thru a snowstorm with what we have!!! read more

I wish I would have checked Yelp before using this company. There is a reason they are so poorly rated on this site. My story is short and no so sweet-ordered Oil and 2 bottles of an additive that you use when you fill up your tank. Oil was delivered on time, however, since its the first time I was using Romeo's I wanted to assure myself I was dealing with an honest company. I have video surveillance as many of us do at my residence. I watched the driver pull up, deliver the oil, but NOT ADD THE ADDITIVE I WAS BILLED FOR. CLEAR COLOR HI RESULOTION VIDEO with 2 different angles of sight. Watched it 3 xs more just to be sure. I contacted Romeo's via email, asking them to check with the driver, maybe they had simply forgot, or mixed up my order. Received a call from "Big Paul", who said he talked to the driver and that she had absolutely put in the additive. I explained that I had the video, and that she most certainly DID NOT, and again, maybe she forgot or was confused with another house, and that I had watched the whole delivery from 2 different angles and there was no additive added and to please refund the $15 and we can add it next time. Was told by Big Paul that the driver was a "Christian woman who went to church every sunday" and that he had put the bottles on the truck himself and now they weren't there, so despite the fact I had watched the ENTIRE TRANSACTION by now 6 x's, he could not and would not refund the money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. REDFLAG WHEN YOU ARE WILLING TO LOSE A NEW CUSTOMER OVER $15, however, I understand the billing people for a product that is NEVER DELIVERED OVER HUNDREDS OF DELIVERY;S would add up to 100% PROFIT EVERY TIME.
