Why are some reviews so bad? I was hesitant but the daughter wanted Italian and we didn't want to walk far from the condo we were renting. So of the review had me thinking this was a family hole in the wall. We were pleasantly surprised to see spacious clean restaurant with full bar. Our daughter enjoyed her Caesar salad and fettuccine Alfredo. Pasta was al dented and the sauce was very tasty. I had the soup and salad conk I with cheese bread. The cheese bread was loaded with gooey cheese. The Greek salad I had was full of fresh greens,cucumbers and bell peppers. The Mediterranean soup was a tomato based soup that was very good. When is a free delivery free? With my last and final order with this company there website states ALL deliveries within 7 km and over $30 ARE FREE. Until today when I placed an order and was charged $5. I gave the driver my usual tip of $10 only to see I was charged $5 on my bill. We were in Victoria for a getaway and walked in to Romeos on a Saturday night, I'm glad we did,Upon entering the restaurant it was huge and very nicely decorated. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and shown to our booth. The waitress was over right away and asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered the Italian Deli pizza and was not disappointed, I am a pizza fanatic and can eat it all day.The pie came out looking so delicious i should of taken a picture of it! Last Monday my wife and I ordered two baked raviolis with meat sauce. The person at Romeo's who took our order over the phone told us it would be a 1 hour and 15 minute wait for delivery of the food to us. We were fine with the 1 hour and 15 minute wait for delivery. The food did indeed get delivered to us exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes after we ordered. (We are in James Bay which is only about a 10-minute drive from the Romeo's location on Blanshard.) The problem is the baked raviolis that arrived at our place were dried out and tasteless. It was hard to get a fork into the ravioli dish because the pasta had hardened so much. Did Romeo's bake their ravioli dishes too long? We took a few bites and then threw out the rest of the ravioli. The ravioli was totally awful! We wasted over $40 (including delivery charge and tip). The Greek salad seemed to be missing ingredients and wasn't as good as usual either. Romeo's on Blanshard used to be much more consistent with their food that we order for delivery. Now it is a very hit-and-miss proposition. The last time we ordered baked lasagna with meat sauce, there seemed to be no meat sauce! Ten years ago there seemed to be much more of a tomato flavour in the baked ravioli and lasagna dishes. Nowadays, the tomato flavour is missing from their dishes! We are very disappointed in Romeo's. Romeo's was a last minute decision to just get some food delivered for dinner rather than walking back out to get something. Had been driving and hiking around for the most of the day, so I was kind of over leaving the hotel room for anything else. Romeo's came up as one of the more popular pizza places in downtown Victoria other than the Boston Pizza chain. There are two different menus to order from here as they have a dine in menu and take away one. You can order from either one, but they have some good deals on the take out one. The person I called on the phone was perhaps one of the better people to take my delivery order over the phone. They were very clear, concise and repeated my order back to me to make sure it was correct. They quoted my time to be at about 45 minutes to an hour, the guy did show up in the time window. When the pizza finally got to my room, it was still very warm and looked like it wasn't sitting around for long. The only bummer is the driver didn't bring any forks or plates for me, I guess it's my fault for not asking though. The Hot Mexican specialty pizza cost me the expensive amount of 24 bucks for a regular sized one. The regular sized pizzas here are ten inches, which for one person is more than an enough in my opinion. Luckily for me they allow two substitutions per pizza order at no charge. The pizza crust was seasoned very well, cooked perfect all the way to the center and the ingredients on top were melted well into the cheese. They didn't go too cheap on the toppings either, a very decent amount on top. Overall a pretty decent pizza, not the best but it definitely fulfilled my craving for a pizza. While it was very cheesey, they could have used more spices on it to make it taste a bit less bland. Why did Juliet kill herself? Because Romeo was a terrible cook. Terrible experience here, I paid $20 for the "smoked salmon penne" which was just canned artichoke hearts, and old chewy "smoked" salmon in a separated "cream sauce". The waiter seemed inconvenienced by working and was waiting on 6 tables including a big party of over 20 that took the majority of his time. One hour later I was throwing up my Romeo's meal. On our recent trip to Victoria, we were trying to find a restaurant we'd read about on Yelp, but somehow got completely messed up and decided to check out Romeo's instead. I'd had pizza a lot in the past few days so I didn't want to order it again, but I wish I had tried it! Instead, we shared a plate of nachos which were great; I liked how they came with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole in little tortilla bowls - super cute. For my actual meal I ordered the Mediterranean salad. It was over $14 which seemed kind of steep, but it was a pretty large salad. I added grilled chicken instead of fish, and it was full of olives, chickpeas, and other delightful things. It was pretty good. I ate a few of my fiance's fries, too, because of course I did. All in all, I'm glad we stumbled upon this place; yeah, visiting a chain restaurant in a new place is probably lame, but no complaits here! read more

So my partner and I strolled into this place after walking around downtown and craving Italian food. Subsequently, we both ordered burgers and beer. It was actually really great. Our waitress is particularly why I was a fan of Romeo's. I don't remember her name, but she is a lovely blonde girl who is a native Victorian and wants to move to India to study Yoga. I love that whole international Canadian concept. I'm such a sucker for it. Our waitress was affable and great at making recommendations for things to do while being extremely friendly and fast. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before coming here, because I swear they went to A different restaurant than I did. The waiter was friendly without trying to be my best friend, and we didn't have to wait for refills. The food was VERY good! I had the penne, my daughter had the fish tacos and my son had the burger. All of us were very impressed with both my kids saying that we MUST come back the next time we're in Victoria. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert. That totally topped off a wonderful dinner. We went there last night with my family and a few friends for my 51 first birthday. All I can say is we will NEVER go back. The service was god awful. We had to go and get r own cutlery and napkins the whole time we were there. Finally I tracked down r waitress and told her the empty dishes were really starting to pile up and our table and if she was abil to clear them and bring us some much needed napkins and cutlery,she just stared at us blankly. A manager came and cleared some of the dishes,and then told us she was really busy with other customers. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant,and they weren't even her tables,lol. It was just sad. My mom didn't even receive her meal. Then the manager came over and told us people not receiving there meal happens there all the time,and made it sound like this kind of service was acceptable. The food was ok,but the service,or lack there of is reason enough for us to never venture back there again. When we go out for dinner we expect to be treated fairly and with respect and dignity. My mom's dinner order was given to another costumer in the restaurant and they never even apologized for it. They made our dinning experience terrible. Not to mention ruin my birthday dinner. In the last few years of ordering from the Blanchard location it would be honest to say it would be 50/50 getting a pizza that would be what you requested or not overcooked. A couple weeks ago we ordered pizza from this branch and for some reason, even though it was specified not to have shrimp on a custom order, they reasoned to put shrimp on the pizza. We were outraged about shellfish on the pizza and they promised to make it up to us with two free large pizzas. Well, we got one tonight and it was short of the extra sauce were requested and very overcooked. Guess they didn't try too hard too make it up to us. I think they do not staff with folks who give a damn and I would suggest any number of other joints that do care what their customers want. We've had it with Romeo's. Good Riddance. read more

Well my previous review was much higher and I had much more positive things to say. Since then I've been back under a handful of times and each time getting progressively worse. Yam fries have been overcooked last 3 times to the point they just taste burnt, not even a hint of yam...the "gyro" wrap was a dry lump of pita with a hint of meat (least recommended item) and the pizzas have been overcooked to near indistinguishable toppings. I live close so I was willing to try as the first couple times the food had been decent. I don't know if maybe I keep getting the same cook, but whoever it is needs to keep better track of their cooking. I don't think I will be back again. However, the service has always been great and the food hot...but terrible. Wouldn't recommend going unless they do a serious overhaul in the kitchen. read more

The service for their takeaway is LOUSY and when the food invariably arrives it is always either cold and/or with half the meal missing(who could mess up a single meal of burger and fries when that is the only meal being ordered?Invariably they do over and over again that is is clearly their standard sub-service). It is so frustrating to order a meal and for near $20- you get a stone cold burger-no fries,no drink that were paid for and then ,upon calling to complain, getting an insolent,indifferent response as if YOU are putting THEM out. On top of this, because they are so stingy with their burger toppings( I am talking ONE slice of see-through-thin pickle) one has to pay $2.00 extra to top up the pickle to what a decent restaurant would supply as part of the price! Never any napkins, plastic cutlery or condiments-even when asked-like the fries and drink, they are usually forgotten. And I was a regular customer who lived in hope that 'finally this time they would get my order right'. I shall not be ordering from Romeos again. Their food is over-priced, customer PR is non-existent and they can't even get it together to send a complete burger and fries meal when it is the only thing being ordered!
