The burger was good but it could be better. I got the wagyu truffle burger and B got the Wicked Cheeseburger and N got the Man's man Burger. N said his burger left a frozen taste in his mouth or some strange taste. B was expecting his burger to be spicy and it was not. My wagyu truffle smelled good but it was not as flavorful compared to truffle burger from elsewhere. On top of all that my burger was lacking in sauce. Their fries were tasty. B ordered a side of peppercorn sauce and they were quite generous on the sauce amount. The restaurant is somewhat hidden and out of nowhere. They do have a parking lot that is free for diners. Service was ok.

Stopped for Happy hour. The food menu for happy jour looked more limited than before. I had fish taco which: surprisingly big and contains lots of vegetables, sauce and big chunk of fish. I enjoyed very much. Man's Man slider: small but well made. Meat and bacon cooked perfectly. Tomato , fried onion, and sauce are sandwiched. My friend had a magic mushroom burger. It looked burned dark. Cocktails were yummy. I had watermelon vodka with some pop and frozen topper. It was like juice and the right amount alcohol for happy hour.

Romer's Burger Bar in the River District is one of four locations across Metro Vancouver. The other locations are in Port Moody, Kitsilano, and Lynn Valley. The River District location has a nice heated patio overlooking the Fraser River. If it gets too cold you can ask for a blanket to stay warm on the patio. Overall they serve good food. They're known for their burgers and it's true their burgers are delicious. Attentive service. Be prepared, most mains are over $20 each.

Romer's used to be a favourite burger joint but over the years it has changed, some good and some not so good. What I like most about Romer's Burger Bar in South Vancouver is the patio with the great view of the Fraser River - love seeing the tug boats move things about. The waterfront walk way also offers a nice stroll after a big meal. Luckily for the past 2 visits, service was a hit and the burgers decent. I'll still come to Romer's as the location is accessible for many of my friends, free parking, big patio and great views. Our visit this week, the Wicked Deadly Cheese and Nashville Chicken burgers were good. The Mushroom Burger was ok as the patty was smaller but the truffle fries were tasty. The Sangria was good. The not so good and needs improvements: fries are smaller in portion, drier and some burnt, a little pricey for the burgers compared to others burger joints and service can be a miss at times like no one greeting us at the front door and having to ask for water.

Stopped by for happy hour and left full and happy. Inside, it was quite busy as there was a large group, so we sat outside. Their patio is enclosed, with plastic screens, so it doesn't keep out the cold air. They offered us blankets, which was nice. I noticed they had heaters in the center of the patio but it didn't look like it was turned on. Other than that, the patio was nice. They turned on the string lights and it was a nice view of the sunset and the river. Servers were friendly and attentive. The happy hour menu has a decent amount of food and drink options. We ended up with calamari, tater tots, and sangria. We also ordered chicken tenders and fries. The sangria was stronger than I thought it would be. I could definitely taste the red wine. The food items came out hot and crisp. Tater tots weren't heavily loaded with sour cream and cheese, which I liked. It let the tater tots remain crispy. The calamari was a decent size, although I wish there was more pieces of squid than jalapenos and onions. I did like that it came with two sauces, tazitki and honey sambal. The chicken tenders were also done well. I liked the crisp breading and the fries were thick and crunchy. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal.

Romer's is consistently good for their burgers and garlic fries. I have been here a couple of times during happy hours and they are great. Timing and pricing wise. You can still find HH food and drinks for under $10, unlike similar places where their HH offers are like normal pricing. So it is fairly busy here during weekday HH though I have been lucky in getting a table without reservations. The drinks are refreshing and the food is really good. My new favorite here is the tuna tataki. I'm still thinking about it and how many can I demolish in future visits. The garlic fries is a must order as they sprinkle actual minced garlic over it. Get the burgers on the regular menu. I did not really like the feature burger on my last visit which was the Thanksgiving burger. The description was attractive but the stuffing was too bready. I do like this location as the Fraser River can make a pretty view especially when the sun is setting. Parking is available on site though the lot is not super big.

This is nice burger and brunch eats restaurant set right on the Fraser River . Lovely Ambience . Food was nicely dished and appealing . Service was attentive and courteous . I had the big breakfast and the food was decent I wouldn't say top notch though . And the day I went somehow they were not stocked with orange juice. Lots of seating available inside if one wants to have a party . Well laid out only challenge is if their parking lot is full it may be a fight to find parking in the busy adjoining side streets

I wanted to love Romer's since it's one of the closest restaurants to me, but I've been here twice and both times food and drinks were okay but nothing outstanding. Most recently, my friend and I dropped by for an impromptu happy hour / dinner since we were picnicking in the nearby park. There's plenty of seating here, both indoors and outdoors. Since it was such a beautiful and warm day out, almost everyone was sitting on their patio. Happy hour is offered daily 3-6 and 9-close with both discounted food and drinks. The hh food menu in particular is huge. I started with one of their daily drink deals, a mango mojito, for only $5.95. It was okay. I also ordered hh calamari for $8.95. I didn't realize, but you also get an assortment of other fried items like onions and jalapenos with the dish, while the actual portion of calamari was smaller than I was expecting. My friend got the hh Valentina tots ($6.95) and really enjoyed that. For my main, I went with the Magic Mushroom burger ($17.25) and substituted gravy for the Boursin cheese. I'm honestly not a huge burger person, but I figured since they're known for their burgers, I should try it out. It was okay, but I thought the patty lacked flavor, even with the portabello mushrooms and gravy. We paid over $80 total for one drink, one hh appetizer, and a burger per person. It's definitely on the pricy side.

Only took a few years, but finally got to try their food. The burgers are pretty solid, though they are a bit pricey. The double smash burger had a decent amount of fixings. Guessing the smashed part was why the patty barely held together. The fries are thick cut (not wedge though), and the garlic option is seriously tasty. With that said, the burger itself didn't really stand out compared to the other chains (Earls, Cactus Club etc.). In other words, not a bad choice if one is in the area, but not worth a special trip out. The outdoor patio is now covered, which is helpful on those rainy days.

Food was aight. Waitress only let me try on one of her shoes. Didn't like it when I threw my wallet at her. The cauliflower wings were good. P.s. waitress lead me to table by her apron strings. Was kinda weird, but in a good way. P.p.s. The techno was pumpin. Great Tuesday vibe, would vibe again

MAGIC MUSHROOM and CRISPY FISH TACOS & FRIES
    Kathy P.

Are you team burger or team taco? We were craving burgers for lunch and ended up at Romer's Burger Bar at River District and saw tacos on the menu so we decided to order both! I enjoyed the fish tacos more since the burger was more on the cooked side but the view made up for it. On the table: MAGIC MUSHROOM 17.25 Caramelized onions, sautéed Portobello mushrooms, herb garlic Boursin cheese, baby arugula CRISPY FISH TACOS & FRIES 18.95 WEDNESDAY WINE DOWN - Romer's 9 oz sippin red 7.95 ROMER'S PALE ALE - 6.9 Tip: Ask for the patio. They are heated with a gorgeous water view.

An attractive restaurant, but food was mediocre. Overpriced for the quality, except for the dessert donuts. Those were excellent.

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. I chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside at the bar to take in that Canadian Vitamin D! It was sunny and hot, but the patio had a great view and was perfect for people-watching. My server, Dursh (or something close to that), was really cool. He asked my name, made me feel welcomed, and gave solid recommendations. He even picked my drink for me, which I ended up enjoying. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

The space itself is elegant and charming, making it perfect for a pre-spring outing, a catch-up with friends, or a low-key celebration. Would I come back? Absolutely--especially for a themed menu like this.

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
