Spacious interiors and happy staff are what I anticipate from any visit to Tractor. This visit was no exception. Upon entry, there is a sign asking you to check in using a QR code. This also provides you with access to their menu once you've shared your details. I was here for a business lunch, so I took it easy and got a chicken sandwich and a raspberry lemon verbena kombucha. The chicken sandwich was pretty darn good. Grilled nicely and stuffed with nice slices of chicken and arugula, it definitely hit the spot. The kombucha was delicious. This place is definitely unique. Didn't know there were hipster sandwich shops in this town. Parking is available on the side streets. Nothing in front. The inside is trendy and ultra modern. Very clean looking. I wasn't sure what to expect so I let my friend decide what I should eat. Snap pea, potato, mint salad - exactly what it sounds like. Quite tasty. Salad is mostly made of peas. Roast carrot, ancient grains - this one was really bland. Actually didn't like it at all. Tasted like nothing but carrots to me. Quinoa kale - not too bad. Can't go wrong with quinoa anything. Chicken sandwich - tasty. Mind you, anything grilled with melted cheese is beautiful. Tomato fennel soup - very tomatoey. Nice and thick. Food quality is definitely there, but their portions are tiny. For a few bucks I was hoping I would get more than an ice cream scoop worth of food. We came here for a quick bite on a Sunday morning and decided on a stew & sandwich combo. The ordering process was simple as you order up front and then find a table and wait until the server brings you your meal. The stew and sandwich combo was a cup of stew (alternatively you can choose soup) and half a sandwich. They have 3 choices of stew and sandwich to choose from. I ordered the turkey chili and short rib sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and well put together. The only thing that made my sandwich less enjoyable was that the toast was a bit burnt resulting in a bitter taste and took attention away from the short rib. Persian Chickpea Salad - 2.5 stars - not very flavorful...i liked the apple slices that you find in every few bites. Lemon Kale Salad - 3 stars Service - 3 stars, nothing fancy, nothing over the top, just mediocre. Went to Tractor last week with a girlfriend who is absolutely obsessed with the restaurant---she eats there maybe 3-5 days a week! I got the chicken sandwich, with a side of curried cauliflower. The sandwich was a sourdough that was grilled with some pear, cheese and arugula. I liked the pear, it gave some good brightness. I wanted a little spice, so just added some Tabasco! I really liked the curried cauliflower, it had roasted cauliflower, red potato, and onion, in a curry yogurt dressing. Similar to a traditional potato salad, but with more veggies. It was delicious and I found the portion to be a reasonable size. After reading other Yelper's reviews I was quite surprised that many said the restaurant was clean. I found it to be exceptionally dirty, dishes on tables, food on the floor, no semblance of any order to the condiments area or tables and chairs. I sat next to a wall that white/grey and splattered with filth. All in all the food was good and I'll return with my good girl friend, but I might suggest to her that we go to another location. read more

Looking around you can tell that this place was very healthy, too healthy for me but I said hey, let's try it! The building is nice and the decor was beautiful I loved it it was plain, simple, and elegant it did feel a little cramped and tight though. They had a lot of variety of salads, soups and sandwiches. The one thing that got me we're the prices for the soups although they we're healthy and all they all are on size which kind of sucks for the price you're paying. I had a sandwich and it wasn't mind blowing or anything it was okay. One thing that I did like about it was the fact that you can buy half sizes or a whole sandwich which is great since I didn't want a whole. Costumer service was great they were friendly, polite and helpful. One thing that did get me was that when I was in line the two other girls I came in were already helped and they had seen I was in line after them and they served the people behind first and completely missed me which confused me and the people in front and behind me. I felt invisible and had no idea why I had been missed. After that a lady decided to budge in front of me and they realized that and helped me first. Catch of mistake or felt bad? I don't know. Tractors food is always solid, though portions seem to have decreased lately. The seating arrangement is rather tight at this location, making it feel cramped. Decorations are well done and add a lot of life to the space. Washroom is clean and spacious and smells good haha. Saw a few people come pick up their orders. Tried a few of their salads today and although there are some new ones being spring, I wasn't blown away by the flavours of some of them. Their ancient grains with carrot was my favourite of the 3 being sweet and hearty while the chickpea with squash and paprika was one note in flavour with undercooked squash and lacking in excitement. The lemon kale was said to be their most popular and for a healthier choice, this was a little bit too similar to the costco poppyseed mix (with the cranberries and pumpkin seed) although i did like the beans! During my first visit I would've gave this place five stars, however, my second visit was not so good. The first time I had visited, I came right when the doors had opened and ordered the mushroom and pasta with truffled ricotta cheese, a turkey sandwich, and a blueberry lemonade. Other than the fact that I thought the lemonade was a bit too sweet, everything else was delicious!!! Service was also very friendly. However, during the second visit in which I arrived about an hour before closing time... I once again ordered the turkey sandwich and opted for the butternut squash soup as they had sold out of the pasta salad. The turkey sandwich turned out to be warm on the outside and cold on the inside and I personally felt that the butternut squash soup was too bland.. My friend had ordered the tomato fennel soup which we found was too tart and lacked flavour as well. Service was also not as friendly as the first time around. All in all, I would still recommend Tractor for lunch as everything seems to be more fresh then. Tractor is a convenient little spot located close to my office. Although it has been open for awhile, today was my first visit. I had read lots about Tractor's other locations in the past and I was fully aware of their menu, but this was my first time trying the actual food. How did they do? Well... here's what I ordered, along with my thoughts: Chicken Sandwich, $9: Not bad at all, although the sandwich was a bit plain. $9 seemed like great price, but once I got the sandwich I realized that they accomplish this by putting very little meat (or anything) in the sandwich. It almost looked like a dollar bill folded between two pieces of white bread, that's how little meat there was. That being said, it was tasty, the bread was good, and it was nicely toasted. Butternut Squash Soup ($6): This really wasn't a soup at all, it was more like sludge. Something important to know about Tractor's soups is that they are stuffed with ingredients to the point where there's almost no liquid in them at all. You cannot drink this soup, you basically just shovel it into your mouth. If you're into that then you will love Tractor soups, but I was hoping for something similar to the Butternut Squash soup they have at Whole Foods, and this ain't that. I had a few bites, but it felt gross so I threw it out. If you're into it though, then $6 is a pretty good deal because it seemed a lot more filling than their meagre sandwiches. Chocolate Cookies ($3.50): For desert I ordered a couple of their chocolate cookies. These were pretty good, although they were thin like the sandwiches. Would I get them again? No, probably not. TL;DR: Tractor Foods is a good value if you're into their sludge soups, but I would not go here again. I hope this place does well, however, so that we can get some better restaurants with similar menus opening in the near future. read more

I got the everyday bowl with tofu and roasted cauliflower as a side, and although I'm pretty sure everything is already prepared, I had to wait 10+ minutes to get my order. It came with the grilled avo instead of the tofu, so they brought it back and offered me the avo on the side, which was nice. The only sauce/dressing provided was a squirt of lemon, despite the bitter and plain "power greens". This is a nice spot in a growing neighborhood just outside of Olympic Village. I had the half chicken sandwich and butternut squash soup for lunch. The grilled sandwich was hot and crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. I liked the pickled onions but would have liked a little more chicken. The soup was nice but only comes one size.
