This may be the worst food at the lake -- it's definitely the worst BBQ I've ever had. Our group came here the other night for dinner. We had ran out of options during our two-week stay at Clearlake and decided to give Romi's a shot. It was a nice evening and we were seated outside on the patio. The service wasn't great. Our server wasn't very attentive and seemed confused most of the time. A couple of us ordered the salad bar as a side and our bowls never came out. When we finally got our bowls, the main food had already started arriving. The salad bar was understocked. Bins were empty and other bins had napkins on top of them to ward off the flies -- really appetizing. I just wanted a full rack of pork ribs for dinner. It's a BBQ joint, I thought that would be a simple request. The server though, seemed super confused. Then she asked if I wanted 9-ribs or 10-ribs. That seemed like a weird dividing line. I just said, "gimme the whole 10 I guess." The result was I got billed for a rib dinner (which I guess is a half rack?) + a side of a rack of ribs which was almost the same price as the dinner. My ribs were absolutely terrible. I've never been to a BBQ restaurant that served whole spare ribs without any trimming. Most square them out to a St. Louis cut because it removes all of the terrible parts of the rack. Not here, they just serve you the entire spare rib, tiny dry areas, and all. I don't think they even season these ribs. It's the sign of a really lazy cook is all. The result is you get this awkward rack of ribs that's dry, flavorless, and difficult to eat. The side of coleslaw was equally as terrible -- dry, flavorless, no dressing that I could see. My girlfriend ordered the brisket dinner. The plate looked like carnitas or shredded pork. Who serves brisket like that? I'll tell you who, people that are trying to hide and serve terrible brisket. The meat was dry and flavorless. I felt really sorry for her, the dinner she was served looked pathetic. You couldn't even drown the meat in sauce because their BBQ sauce is gross. Just overly sweet and goopy. Sits in these dirty plastic bottles on the table all day. There are other places to eat around the lake. I'd avoid Romi's at all cost. We ended up having to eat cereal at home for dinner. read more

I've driven past this place hundreds of times and have always wanted to stop in and try it, but my wife's not a fan of BBQ, we'll this past 4th of July , I finally got my chance. The place outside is unassuming, inside however it's clean and inviting. The menu was easy enough. I had the Tri Tip dinner plate and my wife had the Beef Brisket dinner plate. It comes with corn and garlic bread and you choice of 2 sides. I'm not necessarily a BBQ connoisseur, but this is better than Gorilla BBQ in Pacifica! From the portions, to the variety and to the staff there. This is one place I'll keep on my go back to list. If you're in Lucerne/Nice CA or in the Clearlake area, this is a must eat spot! read more

Very mediocre meal. We tried the smoked chicken, pulled pork sandwich, bacon potato soup, tri tip dip, mile high pulled pork fries, and homemade cheese sauce. The menu claims the French fries are fresh cut, and I asked the server to confirm before I ordered them. I was very disappointed when they arrived and were 100% frozen thawed. The saving grace was that I ordered ranch to go with it and it was homemade (the best kind of ranch). Smoked chicken was dry, pulled pork was bland, soup wasn't worth finishing. Went to Romi's for the first time today and got takeout. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries and my daughter got the John Wayne burger and fries. The pulled pork sandwich was horrible. It was dry and looked like it had been reheated several times. Less than desirable flavor for sure. I can honestly say it the worst pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. Our recent mini vacation had us looking for somewhere near our resort for breakfast, we ended up here. Order of Loaded Nacho's was NOT at all good. Waitress had stated tri-tip was shredded but meat was sliced, not the best for trying to eat nachos. Chips were overcooked and flavorless - Nacho's were a complete waste of money and didn't get eaten. Beef Brisket Breakfast served with Hash Browns, Pancake, Eggs and Brisket was just ok - Hash Browns were good as was the pancake. The eggs were overcooked and while the brisket was ok . . . . Brisket was dry so again a waste of money. In our case the waitress, "Kat" was really good and an asset to this business. Kat was very friendly and attentive. If I were to ever end up visiting this restaurant again I would just order pancakes and call it good. However, none of this was Kat's fault so we did make sure to tip her well. read more

You can smell the smoked aroma of BBQ in the air as you exit your car. There is a large variety of food to choose from the menu. You can choose from BBQ to Mexican. We went with the sandwiches. There was a variation of BBQ sauces on our table to choose from for our sandwiches. I went with the mild BBQ sauce. It wasn't spicy at all. However, the flavor was quite nice. My husband enjoyed his brisquit sandwich. My pulled pork, although nice and smokey, was on the dry side. The portions were large, allowing me to only eat half of the sandwich. The fries were delicious, hot, and a perfect crisp. They also have a covered patio for those visiting with pets. It was in the 100s today, and we are so glad that we decided not to bring our fur baby into that heat. They also had a variety of brews to choose from. And the staff, they were all very kind. Just had dinner here and it was wonderful. We at a mix of smoked sandwiches and Mexican food and it was all good! Would highly recommend this place. We ate on the deck because we had dogs with us which was very convenient for us as we were traveling to the coast. We are on our way to Fort Bragg, CA and were looking for somewhere to eat. My husband looked over, saw BBQ and decided to stop. Best decision ever! They have a off street parking lot and as soon as you step out of the car all you smell is delicious BBQ. Upon entering they told us to choose our table. After looking at the menu I chose a Tri tip Phillysandwhich and homemade mac and cheese, my husband had a brisket sandwich and fries, and my son got the child's bacon Mac and cheese and fries. OMG! It was a flavor explosion in my mouth. The Tri Tip Philly was SOOO good. And the Mac and cheese sauce was delicious too. My whole family loved their meal. And our whole check with non-alcoholic beverages and 3 meals was $35. What? It was so cheap, but so delicious. It's a must stop from now on. We travel through 4 times a year or so and will for sure stop. For those that care, the staff so wear masks. The bathroom has a cute chalkboard wall that you can write where you're from. In town for the weekend. I love a good BBQ. So we decided to get the Chicken dinner and the the Tri Tip dinner. The chicken was dry- even the dark meat. No BBQ sauce at all in the bag. So no reprieve on chocking that down. The tri tip was good, a little dry but much better than the chicken. The potato salad was awful. The coleslaw needed more salt and flavor. The baked beans and the Mac and cheese was pretty good. Still not the best but was decent. They are getting a 3 star cause it wasn't all awful but still not the greatest. With not many options fir breakfast, my husband and I went to Romi's on a Sat morning. They had a Tri-Tip omelette special and being that we sat outside next to their smoker, we thought we'd give that a try. We also ordered Arnold Palmers and made our choice on toast. I enjoyed being outside, listening to the music that you can't hear inside while gazing at the lake through an opening in the trees. The food came as did the flies even with the smoker kicking out a lot of smoke but we were outside still so that was understandable. I took my first couple of bites and thought different but good. My husband's stomach is very sensitive and he was only able to eat half of the meal. He didnt love it but wasn't sure why he couldn't continue to eat the meal. The potatoes were great regardless of the style choice as between the both of us, we each ordered the opposite choice to try both. The lemonade in the drink was soo good that a I complemented them on their lemonade and asked for one to go. The food didn't make us sick or anything, it was just unexplainably gamey for tri-tip. It's kind of hit and miss when you eat here. Some of the items on their menu are very good and they're large portions. Then other things not so much but I imagine that's typical with a lot of restaurants. My biggest complaint would be that sometimes when you get your BBQ, it smells and tastes like lighter fluid. Not a positive at all. Someone needs to get a handle on that pit. I will say that I do like the fact that they have several types of sauces to put on your sandwiches or your barbecue so you can drown the taste of it. But in Lake Co. your choices are limited for good quality BBQ. read more

5 Star!!! Stopped by Romi's a few weeks ago ! We walked in the door and were immediately greeted! We decided to just grab some nachos at the bar. We sat down and were greeted again! The restaurant was crowded (always a good sign) and were immediately assisted, menus were provided, and we had our drinks within 5 minutes. There is an extensive bar selection, many daily specials and a varied menu. We reviewed the menu and ordered Loaded Nachos. They were some of the best nachos I have ever had !! ... The food was excellent and I can't wait to come back to try additional items. EVERYTHING looks great. OK but here is what the best part of the restaurant was... The Customer service. We went in and were immediately greeted, immediately assisted, the servers were Kind, Friendly and Accommodating ... AND there were only 2 waitstaff working that day. You did not have to wait, they did not come across as "too busy", they were incredibly nice and accomodating .. the servers should give out classes in what it is to be a great server. Toni's is a little questionable when you first walk in the place. Not sure where to order, how to order? Once that is settled, you're in for a treat! Food has been ok the last 2 times we've been in there. Service has been fast. I got a to go order of Mexican food & it was severely lacking in taste. And Mexican food is there specialty. I had the Lakeside salad, it was brought out to me very quickly and was very flavorful with good amount of prawns for the money. The young lady server who took my order made a mistake and put onions on it; however, when I told her about it, she not only accepted responsibility and apologized for the mistake, she also offered me a 10% discount for the error. I believe her attitude was much more professional and courteous than many 20 year veteran servers I have seen and she should be commended for how she dealt with the situation. I wasn't thrilled with this place. Not much actual BBQ on the menu. I had the smoked brisket dinner with coleslaw and the chili as sides. The brisket was tasty although very fatty. The coleslaw was pretty bland and had almost no flavor and ditto for the corn on the cob. The chili was terrible. It was more like watery baked beans with a little meat in it. Not sure how they call it chili. If I had to go here again I'd get a burger and be done with it. read more

As soon as we opened the car door, the aroma of slow smoking goodness hit us, hoping it tastes as good as it smells...it did. As this was a late lunch for us, the place had plenty of seating, and we were greeted right away by our server. They were in the middle of changing ownership and for some arcane reason, could not sell beer. No biggie. Lots of great choices on the menu, so we opted for the tri-tip and brisket sandwich (2 separate items). The meals came out quick and we tucked in. The sandwiches are really good size and come with BBQ sauce and a side. We opted for mac and cheese as well as tri-tip chili. The meat on both sandwiches were moist and full of smokey flavor. Just needed a little bit of sauce. Overall flavor was very good and the prices are silly low for what you get. So good in fact, we came back the next morning for breakfast. This place used to be so good, but now it's under new management and it's honestly one of the worst joints I've been too. Maybe they were just having a bad night but the past two times I've come have been a bad experience. The first time the food wasn't good, very dry, no seasoning, but fast service. The last time I went service was very slow, we didn't get napkins until we were half way through our food, the bread was soggy, and our server was a minor which was very uncomfortable. We found that with only one waitress working it took a little longer to get seated, drinks and to place our order. She was very friendly, just busy. We got the shredded chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich, both where okay just not the best we have had.
