Came in after receiving a recommendation from the owner of an establishment I visited. Pulling in you can smell and see the smoke of the BBQ being made. Parking is limited. Seating is located outside, picnic style. No individual seating outside. No seating inside. Cash or Venmo is only accepted. There is an ATM machine onsite. Luckily, I had cash on hand, otherwise you're hit with an ATM fee from the machine and most likely your bank. I asked an officer who was eating outside what he recommends. He told me to try the trip tip. When I got inside I asked the woman behind the counter what she recommended. "I don't eat meat". Crazy response but she followed up with burgers or tri tip are people's most ordered. I went with the tri tip sandwich. It was plentiful and the fries were nicely salted and plenty. Full happy belly. i go to Clearlake oaks to visit my auntie often and finally decided to stop here for a bite. The food was Amazing. i got the tritip french dip. Delicious and not skimpy on the meat! My BF got the Dannys tritip and he loved it. They come w a side. He got french fries house cut and made. Yum! I got the coleslaw (no horseradish in it thank goodness.). It was okay, but I wasnt there for the coleslaw. It is reaaaaaly tiny on the inside, but they do have seating in the back and a small spot in the front. Very loud because it right on the roadway. However, the ribs cannot be eaten as they were warm, not hot and they were hard as a rock as if they were not made today. Juicy, huge patty with good amount of fat. It sat on a perfectly grilled bun that crunched when you bit into it. And the fries! In 'n Out burger should take a lesson on how to cook fresh cut fries perfectly. They were crunchy with pillowy soft middles. And the flaky salt on top sealed it. Have been here multiple times before but always got the ribs or other barbecued meats which have all been fabulous. Today I wanted something different and a little lighter, so I tried their vegetarian sandwich, which is basically a Portabella Mushroom Burger. I don't know what kind of secret elixer they marinated the mushrom in, but it was amazingly rich and flavorful. It comes with one side, and the sandwich includes lettuce, tomato, cheese, grilled sweet tender onions, avocado, mayo, and you can get pickles on request. This is definitely going to be my go to here now, it was truly the best Portabella Mushroom burger I have ever had. Now let's talk about the cobbler, they have a few fresh baked varieties daily, today was Peach, Apple, or Blueberry. I chose the Peach, it was warm, gooey, not overly sweet, and the crispy carmelized top was scrumptious. If you are traveling by I highly reccomend Danny's, the man is a BBQ artist, and his burgers and sandwiches are top notch also. The food here was fabulous. I enjoyed the smoked chicken sandwich and potato salad. My hubby and son both had burgers and loved them. It's a small place with outdoor seating that is shaded. All I could taste was bbq sauce. Became soggy very fast. Garlic Fries: just fries with minced garlic on top. I figured they would have at least mixed them. Fries themselves were pretty regular. Coleslaw (not pictured): homemade for sure, but lacks sweetness that one expects when ordering a slaw. Baked Beans (not pictured): They forgot to put them in the bag and by the time I realized I wasn't going back. Place was busy, and smells delicious outside the door. The whatever and the meat lovers Burger are really good, the bacon is usually crispy the burgers and brisket are normally juicy, my one suggestion is they smoke their meat way too fast and I understand that it's a time constraint, but I would love to have 12-14 hr cook, low and slow but you can't have everything, it's a small place and small parking lot but I think that's what makes it special and in Lower lake there isn't much options for a picnic area unless you want to drive 20min by then the food is soggy if you open the container the food will be cold, but that's not the resturants fault at all. read more

This is the type of place I dream about encountering on the roadside. I'm far from expert in BBQ but I think this place is BBQ done just right. Stopped in for a super tasty and satisfying lunch here recently thanks to yelpers pointing it out and definitely plan to be back. I was looking for the smoked turkey sandwich I saw in yelp reviews and photos of the menu. Turns out they don't smoke turkey anymore but the nice lady at the counter let us know they replaced it with smoked chicken and the sandwich typically comes with avocado and bacon so all was not lost and-- OMG the smoked chicken was so good! I don't even typically love the taste of smoke in my food (one reason why I'm not an expert in bbq) but to me this is what smoked should be like! So, so tender with subtle smokiness. Zero dryness whatsoever. And the roll and everything else in the sandwich was super fresh! My companion also raved about the Tri-tip French dip. French fries handmade and cut to my preference in thickness- not too skinny- enough substance to taste the potato goodness! The best traditional macaroni salad I've ever tasted! Just right amount of mayo, fresh little celery bits, pasta shells cooked just right. If all bbq joints were like this maybe I WOULD be an expert in bbq tasting. Attention to detail in all of our food really showed. We don't usually eat dessert but were very tempted by the trays of fresh homemade fruit cobbler on the counter. OK I know I've used the words fresh and just right a lot in this review but that should be a sign. Looked like they have a brick smoker making the magic happen that you can see from inside and from the road. Since it's a small, unassuming and aptly named roadside kitchen, no space for seating inside but they have a nice little back patio nook surrounded by greenery for enjoying your meal outside and of course there's takeout option. Also of note: cash only with atm machine conveniently located inside. Also convenient is their literally roadside location on 53 close to the intersection with 29 between KFC and Fosters Freeze. Look for the BBQ Burgers and More sign and stop in for a taste or you are missing out! We ordered the two rack pork ribs with two sides special (baked beans and garlic bread) and two pounds of beef brisket. As lovers of BBQ, restaurant bought and homemade, we weren't exceptionally wowed but it was a nice treat for food in the area. The sauce is definitely on the sweeter side and the brisket was leaner than we would've liked making it a hard chew so not super juicy as we generally like. Garlic bread is tasty and they give a generous portion as a side. They do have a delicious spicy BBQ sauce which we asked for and was given a small cup. When asked for more, we were told it would be an additional $2. After spending $65 +, I would've hope that to give us some extra hot BBQ on request would've been a nice gesture. Service is nice but hours are not always stated correctly. If you roll by and they're open and you're in the mood for BBQ, stop by and check it out yourself. read more

As I really enjoyed the ribs from here the sides are completely lacking. I do enjoy good bbq meat but I felt this place was only worth the 4 stars. It could be a five with same changes to those said side dishes and better Price *update I'm removing a star because I've eaten here a few times recently and every single time the fries are not cooked all the way, limp like I'm eating a raw potato. Although I do appreciate using fresh potato's, even when ordered crispy they are always under cooked. EVERY time. I do love there pulled pork and some other items on the menu, however I feel like everything is just thrown together real quick (probably why the fries are never cooked all the way) and it's frustrating to say the least read more

We were hungry after driving around the lake and it was hot so we just wanted to grab something and we pulled into KFC and smelled the BBQ next door so we walked over and looked at the menu. There was so much I wanted to try but didn't want anything greasy so I choose the Smoked Turkey sandwich. It had bacon, avocado, lettuce and Mayo. OMFG the Turkey was delish. It was tender, had the smoked flavor and the bacon was crispy and avocado fresh. I can honestly say this is the best Turkey sandwich I have ever had. Fries were fresh not frozen and lightly seasoned. They were crispy and really good. Mike had the House Burger which he said made his top 5. He said the meat was flavorful, fresh patty not frozen and grilled to perfection.
