This was my first time with this particular dental practice because my previous dentist retired as have I, and I was starting anew with my dental care. I chose Dr. Bal via reviews from Yelp and as usual that decision was on point which is a testament to the functionality of Yelp itself. The office is located in the middle of Stockton off of March Lane just west of Pershing Avenue and is easily accessible with adequate parking space. The office and facility are very clean and feels new to me. The front desk staff was very helpful and congenial upon arrival. The wait time was not long, and take-in was minutes after appointment time. The hygienist (I forget his name) was very nice and informative during my examination, and we struck up a pleasant conversation during the process. When it came time for Dr. Bal to evaluate me, I found her to be a pleasant person who was very knowledgeable with everything related to dentistry and answered all of my questions (I'm one of those who asks a lot of questions to educated myself) very thoroughly. I'm glad I chose Dr. Bal and look forward to establishing a relationship with her and her practice in the coming years. read more

First time patient, and I must say I am very impressed! - The support staff were very friendly and attentive, with excellent follow-up regarding my scheduling and insurance. - There was virtually no wait-time from registration to the X-rays, then my initial examination and cleaning with the dental hygienist (DH). All their equipment were very advanced, and definitely more updated than three other clinics I've been to. They even have camera for tooth/gum high quality photos and a TV right in front of the patient and provider to project the camera output! That was a first for me. Even their x-ray tech was less invasive and took less time compared to my previous experiences in other clinics. - The DH, Alman, was very amiable, approachable, and gentle to the teeth and gums during exam and cleaning. He was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, explained my dental health very clearly, and was even a great teacher/lead to the dental assistant. - Afterwards, Dr. Bal came in for my final examination, and explained further my dental health. She was very gentle-mannered, professional, eloquent, and exudes knowledge and competence! My overall office visit only lasted an hour and a half, which is record time for me. In the past, my dental visits always lasted half the day, with at least an hour or two spent just waiting. - Their office was very clean, looks updated/upgraded, and surprisingly big inside, with a big workforce! They look very small from the outside, but this is definitely a medium-sized practice. I was very delighted with the clinic's cleanliness and high-tech equipment. - BEST OF ALL: No upselling, no overcharging, no unnecessary procedure! I've had a clinic order me 6 fillings during my first-appointment (hello WD) which I felt were unneeded, then charged me $2000 out-of-pocket costs that kept me in debt for 1 year! Another clinic lied about my "terrible gum health that requires deep cleaning every 3 months" and charged me $200 out-of-pocket per cleaning, for 2 years! Meanwhile, Dr. Bal did not even pursue filling, saying I do not need them at this time, while Alman determined my gum was in good health! Dr. Bal did not upsell Orthodontics to me, and merely gently recommended it in a way that did not pressure me. Overall, I am very glad to have picked this place, thanks to the perfect 5-star review on Yelp! I will be a returning patient, and I sure hope this will be my permanent dental clinic for years to come. read more

Best decision ever when I found Dr Bal on Yelp back in 2020. I knew I needed a new dentist but was kinda iffy because seeing one that had a five star review was really hard to believe. And on top of that was so easy to schedule appointments and get in fast! Sometimes you get next day appointments and don't have to wait at all! My husband hates going to the dentist and I've brought him here to see Dr Bal. Now he's not so scared anymore, he's nervous but he knows he's in good hands. Her and her staff takes care of you and is very gentle. I don't have to force my husband to come anymore. He does it on his own when he can get time off from work. I've even switch my daughter over to see her. And I've been taking her to kids care dental. I feel I am obligated to share my extremely stressful experience I had with this dental office since I made the request of the dental records on 6/7/2023 for my daughter who is insured under my policy. My daughter was a long term and loyal patient to this office since she was in the elementary school, even we moved out the area, we still drove my daughter at least 2 times per year to this office. We never missed any copay and never questioned dentist Bal's treatment. My nightmare with this dentist and this office started after I made the inquiry when I received the pre-treatment estimate letter from my insurance, listing the charges for 3 wisdom teeth filling. The front desk 2 staffs( Tracy and Vanessa ) and office manager( Fatima) gave me very hard time since, refusing to mail me authorization form, insisting we need to drive more than 60 miles to the office to sign the form and to get the records. However, after I drove a long way to the office and witnessed my young adult daughter signed the form, the office still refused to provide me the dental records, either by email or by printed copies while I was waiting in the office for more than 2 hours. They including office staffs and dentist attempted to fool me with all different kinds vague and unreasonable excuses. Meanwhile, they attempted to collect the copay for other wisdom teeth filling which the dentist didn't plan to do on that day after I had the conversation with her. The dentist was very defensive and was not honest when I asked her to review my daughter's last year's x-ray to show me the cavities of wisdom tooth before she saw my daughter. They never voluntarily emailed me the dental records after I left the office. Instead, they kept harassed me via email and via phone. Furthermore, after I reviewed those 3 pages of dental records, noted this dentist made a false statement by stating " explained to parent that extraction is recommended for all 4 wisdom teeth"--- this is absolutely a lie ! Even during 6/23 visit, Dentist Bal didn't review the x ray taken during the visit with parent us, and didn't explain to me what kind of filling materials she would put into my daughter's tooth. Without reviewing the dental record, I would never knew she used the outdated old and cheapest filling materials alloy( amalgam) which requires to make a big hole on tooth by not only removing decayed part of tooth, but also removing healthy part of tooth, in order to put this alloy filling materials. So far, I have not received the entire dental records that I am entitled to. Apparently, this dentist is afraid of releasing dental records to the parent, and is reluctant to prompt provide the requested information to the parent. The extreme rude, disrespectful and unprofessional behaviors manifested by this office front desk staffs and the office manager are trained, encouraged and oriented by this dentist. I would not recommend this dental office after I had such horrible experience and I don't want to deal with this place any more. This place didn't deserve one star at all. Dr. Bal is a very knowledgable, patient and skilled dentist. Every time I go in she sits next to me and explains the procedures to me in a way that I can understand. One of the things I love best about her is she never tries to upsell me. She uses conservative dentistry on her patients and only recommends what they need, not what she needs to pay her mortgage payment. This is so refreshing to me. You just don't see this type of "old school" medicine any more and it is so nice. By far the best dentist I have had, but the reason for my minus 1 stars is (1) I set up appointment to get a cleaning plus a filling but at the time of my appointment it's just a clean and I have to schedule another appointment for the filling which means I have to come back. (2) this might be normal but it takes so long. You wait in the waiting room for 15 mins, go sit down inside for another 30 before the hygienist sees you, then another 15-30 mins before the Dr. gets to you. So you're there at least 2 hours for the cleaning and no more time for the filing which was the main reason you were there in the first place. read more
