They went over track etiquette, safety, how to operate the kart, and how I should drive the kart to get good lap times.

One gripe I have is that I wish the workers were a bit more attentive. We went on Monday and there wasn't anyone at the front desk for maybe 10minutes. They didn't have us watch the safety/instructional video which normally plays on a loop at the front of the pit gate. We had two double karts because our kids are young and we were put in a race with multiple other adults. The employees in the pit were good, one was a young lady who seemed new and a young man who obviously had much more experience. I'm on the shorter side and he recognized I needed the pedals adjusted and a booster seat. He also rechecked all our belts because the girl didn't put them on tight enough. So during our race we had to go slowly for the first lap, but then it was on! Unfortunately, I had to go slow because my daughter is small and apprehensive about the whole experience. I'm sure we were a hindrance for the faster racers, but most were very respectful and drove around us. One person in particular (an older black man who uses the name "007 Speed") hit me into the barrier 3 times and hit my husband and son's kart at least twice. He hit us with such force both of my kids have been complaining of neck pain. I told the experienced male employee but no consequences for Mr. 007 Speed even though each time he hit us they overhead announced, "No hitting other drivers or barriers. Next time you will be out of the race." When the race was done Mr. 007 Speed never acknowledged what he did or apologized. As we were leaving we saw him complaining at the front desk. So overall, I really like this place. It's geared for children and families, but definitely for anyone who wants to have fun. It would be ideal if they grouped drivers separately like they do for junior racers. Group adult racers with ones who have children/want a chill experience and a group for retirees trying to relive their glory days

I originally wanted to leave a 1-star review, but I'm giving 2 stars because the assistant manager and kitchen manager were genuinely helpful and tried to make things better. Before our outing, my manager spoke with whoever handles bookings multiple times to confirm our reservation. The package we were told was $50 per person for 3 races, 4 pizzas, and space for our team, totaling $1,084 for 18 people. Each time, my manager confirmed that it included 3 races, and we were told they were having issues booking it correctly in the system but would fix it when we arrived. When I pulled up, I noticed most of the staff outside. Maybe it was a break or a slow day, but when I walked in, no one was at the register. I walked around until I found someone to help me, who I believe was the kitchen manager. She was awesome and connected me with the manager, who was outside. The manager, who I believe was Jordan, checked my party in and confirmed that we were getting 3 races for $50 per person. At that point, everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, 4 of my team members could not make it, and we were told they could not refund the $200. The assistant manager was great and gave us credit instead for food and game cards, which we appreciated. She handled that situation with great customer service. Where the experience went sideways was when we were waiting for our third race. The manager then told us he did not make the change and that we would need to pay an additional $20 per person for the third race. I was confused because we were told multiple times before the event, and again when we checked in, that the package included 3 races for $50 per person. At that point, my team was expecting 3 races. We had paid for 18 people, 14 showed up, and the 4 no-shows were credited toward food and game cards. I also noticed they had a Thursday special for $20 per race, so I asked if they could at least price match and refund $10 per person for the 14 people since we were not getting the third race. That would have been $140. The manager said party packages do not work that way. But from a customer standpoint, it felt like we would have been better off just paying individually and buying the pizzas ourselves instead of spending over $1,000 on a package that was not honored the way it was explained to us. As a business owner myself, I was honestly shocked by the lack of accountability and hospitality from the manager. I even told my management team that this was a perfect example of what not to do in our own business. My business partner was also upset and went to speak with the manager. He asked if the owner could be contacted so they could discuss the situation owner to owner. Unfortunately, the situation got worse. The manager got into a loud verbal argument with my business partner in front of customers and kids. That part was completely unacceptable. Instead of trying to de-escalate, make things right, or at least show some level of hospitality, the manager became confrontational. To the owner of this establishment, I hope you take this feedback seriously. The assistant manager deserves recognition because she handled herself professionally and showed real hospitality. She either has hospitality experience or it comes naturally to her, but either way, it should not go unnoticed. Business owner to business owner, the assistant manager was the bright spot in this experience. The manager, on the other hand, did not take accountability for what we were told during booking or what he confirmed when we checked in. I'm more than happy to update this review if the owner replies and makes this right.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't post correctly, so I'm reposting it in English to make sure my review is published. Scandia Family Fun Center will always hold a special place in my heart. For many years, I brought my children here to celebrate several of their birthdays, and we always had an amazing time. Between the batting cages, go-karts, and arcade games, there was never a shortage of things to do. My kids had so much fun that they never wanted to leave, and I loved seeing them enjoy themselves and burn off all that energy. These are the kinds of memories you cherish forever--watching your children grow up and celebrating special moments in a place that always delivered a great experience. To me, Scandia isn't just a family entertainment center; it's part of my family's story. I highly recommend Scandia Family Fun Center to anyone looking to spend quality time with their children and create lasting memories.

I'm a SUPER BIG kid with a teeny tiny competitive streak so what better place to go than to Scandia. With a play card already in the car, we used the self service kiosk to load up on play points. Each arcade station costs so many points to play. The machine accepted cash, cards and mobile pay. A few of the machines were broken, so after the machine took our points with no play we approached the counter and were credited via the play card. There were racing games with cars and motorcycles, shooting simulators, street fighter/mortal combat style games, asteroids, pac man, air hockey and more. The Fast & Furious racing simulator is the best, power ups, nitro packs, the setup of the steering wheel and pedal felt real, the interface was super engaging. My husband and I went head to head and it was incredible! This game is literally the reason I picked Scandia. Miniature golf too, we did both grounds - 18 holes each. We had a grand ol' time. Our daughter and I usually venture to Scandia for her playdates and for her play, but this time was amazing since I got to play too esp play what I wanted to play without compromise. I already recommend and enjoy every visit here.

The owner is a friend, but keep reading to find out why. The owner of Karting Concepts is very passionate about kart racing and his local club tracks in Davis ( BlueMax Kart Club ) and Folsom ( Prairie City SVRA - All Star Karting ). I've known him since 2013 in which he started a business relationship with the company that I work for. I'm used to getting sales pitches and other non-creative marketing tossed my direction from the racing circles, but Patrick was different. He urged me to come back out to the local track, Blue Max Kart Club and to try club racing again, with a Briggs and Stratton 206 powered kart. At first I had no interest because, "I'm a shifter guy!!!". I've been around karting since 1995, and my smiles come from driving a shifter kart, so a lawn mower engine package had no appeal to me. Patrick kept working on me to come out and give it a try. After about a year, I finally headed out to BlueMax for a club race and the class I entered had about 30 kart on the track. This shifter guy had a huge smile on his face, not because the karts are super fast like a shifter, but because the racing was intense and close. After I got out, I became an ambassador for the Briggs LO206 platform because it was a great start up package for all kart racers. I enjoyed a large field, close racing, and once I bought my own equipment, relatively affordable (by motorsports standards) cost to hit the track. Now over the years, Patrick and I have become friends. He has a real passion for the sport of karting, as do I. He is honest with people and he puts others first. If the world had more people with his temperament and personality, it would be a much better place. He has participated at all levels in the karting business. He had offered rental programs do introduce new people to the sport. He runs a side business to retail karts and parts. He has traveled to big national karting events to support customers. He has spent countless hours building the local kart club and growing membership numbers. Do I need to go on?

I visited with friends and we had a great time!…read more We checked in on the digital kiosks and then selected balaclava colors before waiting for our turn. At first I was confused why the wait time was so long when the space seemed almost empty, but we learned quickly that the more runs you do the better deal you get, and racing can be pricey. We opted for two rounds since we were new to it and didn't know how long it would take if we did more. Our first race took some time to be called for (about an hour), but we had much less downtime before our second one. While you wait there is an arcade area and a bar. One thing we noticed is that the staff in areas other than the racetrack are much less engaging- I think they must be bored from the lack of people interacting with them or working on things in other places. The bar was frequently unmanned and we learned that they don't offer tap water, only bottled. We also learned that while some packages come with food, if you don't time it correctly you may have to leave the food at the tables to head down to your race. It might be best to wait until after racing to order any food. While we didn't get food during the visit, we found it odd that a bunch of sliders and other food were just sitting around in the bar area unattended, getting cold. There's gotta be a better system. The team on the racetrack was engaged and nice. They made sure everyone was set up, strapped in, and that the races were organized and safe. I was TERRIBLE, but did get better my second round. Our group ended up having a lot of fun. Some things to note- they do put groups together and fill the extra spots with other racers so your group will be together but you may have different people in each heat (depending on how many rounds they bought and when they arrived). Riding with other groups means you may get bumped into and have people of VERY different skill levels. We definitely had some regulars in our group. When someone spins out or needs help all the karts stop so it can really interrupt the race, but I guess that's part of the experience. Overall it's a lot of fun but there's some room for improvement in their non-racing areas.

I experienced the epitome of gender plus race discrimination in sports/driving today. Despite my…read morerace record, I was constantly told I was being slow and should move over for even kids behind me, even if my race record did not say so. Being told I was slow, being stalled to start last in a group of racers. Yes I flipped the "traffic police," but I fight back when I'm being stereotyped because they need to know SHAME! The manager was no help and kept saying they were just following rules, when I was clearly being singled out. Not even an apology. Don't take your girls here. This is where little girls sportswomen spirits get destroyed. FYI it's also my birthday today. I left the place in tears. But the manager seemed to think that was funny. He unconditionally supported his biased staff and made comments about me being slow without even knowing what happened, let alone offering to review what happened (I'm sure there are camera). I told the manager he didn't know how being stereotyped feels because he is a white male, and he proudly said "that is a stereotype." Boohoo, I guess that stereotype really hurts compared to what non-white-male people have to go through! What a great manager working in the customer service industry. He refuses any responsibility, offers no sympathy to people's experience of being discriminated and whines about his own being stereotyped experience to a minority woman. (I hope he feels proud of doing that for the rest of his life.) This is just the dose of discrimination boost I needed on my birthday. Anyways, this is the birthday experience you will have here. What can I say, women are told to "move over" for men even at K1 speed to go karting. Great job reinforcing that rotten value when women/girls just want to have fun! They deserve to wear my eternal flip like a scarlet letter on their forehead! SHAME ON YOU K1 SPEED!
