We decided to give Ronni's another chance today after a not so stellar food experience several months ago. I have to say that the food was excellent today. The service was horrible. The waitress has been there for a long time but she acts like she hates her job. I needed more tea and she acted inconvenienced that I asked. Why she didn't bring our table of 3 a pitcher I don't know considering the table of 2 in the corner did. The building is cold and definitely needs some updating. I hear Joey from friends when i thought about my trip to Ronnie's House chips: good Pizza: good Wings: gooooddddd I was so very hesitant to come here but my god, what have I been missing. The good runny ranch, food so fresh you have to actually wait to eat it bc it's straight out of the kitchen, beer, wine. My lord. I just ate a wing I took home and it's still crisp and the runny ranch is perfection. This is my new favorite place for wings and pizza. Plus I saw a salad I want to try eventually. I am so sorry, i would just give them 1 star but just because my wife liked their wings, 2 stars would be more than enough. I just do not understand how they are getting such good reviews and for what!!! First, their wings are fried right but that's about it, they are naked wings though, so not much credit here... the wings sauce is yukkkk, the waiter told us that is 80 percent butter and the rest hot sauce!!! We ordered some boneless wings; they charge a dollar each. i would need at least 30 of those to be full, they are way too small and have no taste. That picture i uploaded with a lot of grease and nothing else in the plate is where we had 5 boneless wings... imagine, 5 boneless wings and that much grease!!! I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews but was underwhelmed at the experience. Wanted to try the fried chicken sandwich but AFTER I paid for it and waited about 10 min, then they informed me that they were sold out of chicken breast and asked if I would like chicken tenders instead.. an $6.55 sandwich for $8.10 mmm no thank you. So I opted for the "Philly Steak" and man, it was not good, small, cheese melted on the bread only, the veggies were hard and there was more bread than anything ! I was so upset. My experience at Ronni's was really just ok, probably 2.5 stars if we could rate things that way. I stopped in for an early lunch and found the place nearly empty. I was sat quickly and given a chance to review the menu. I ordered the lunch special w/ 10 wings, celery, blue cheese, texas toast, and a drink. I also got a small basket of fries. The food came out quickly. The wings were a fair size and were hot when they were served. Unfortunately, I didn't love the BBQ sauce. I believe it was ketchup based and seemed very thick, almost congealed. It had a fine amount of heat but the rest of the flavor just didn't stack up for me. The chips were a regret. Totally unseasoned. The good/bad news is that the small basket was a pretty big order. Honestly, the food here was only 2 stars. However, my waitress took good care of me so I'm kicking in one star for service. read more

A family favorite and my personal favorite foodie dive. I've been eating at Ronni's since I was a boy and I visit as often as possible! I know nostalgia has a lot to do with my love for the food, but I swear they have the best wings south of Buffalo, NY. Their inspiration, just as any, is attributed to Anchor Bar. It even references it on their menu. We also go for the 20-Wing (X-Hot) and 12" Pizza (Pepp/Cheese) Combo. We find the X-Hot to be equally as 'hot' as the 'Hot' but to have even more flavor. It seems that here in Charlotte, most places try to have either great wings or great pizza, never both. I drive sometimes all the way just for the meal and it ever disappoints. I've written Diners, Drive-In's and Dives and hopefully it will soon be featured. It's true to the area, it's simple, it's a dive. Great food and kind country service. Decor is basic and the beer is cold. if you are ever in the area and looking for great food, try the Pizza and Wings. It won't disappoint. read more

A few months ago, Jerry and I stopped at Ronni's on our way back into town for an order of Nuke wings with blue cheese dressing and Texas Toast. They were amazing. The sauce was made with different types of fresh peppers from banana to habanero. Every now and then it's a lot of fun to order wings so hot your face turns red and you start tearing up. We had great service. Our waitress checked on us several times, and we never ran out of water. On Sunday, we decided on takeout from Ronni's, Jerry and I split an order of X-Hot wings. The crispy, deep fried wings had tender, juicy meat under the saucy coating. The x-hot sauce tasted like a lot of cayenne pepper had been added. It kept our mouths burning from one wing to the next and for a good while after we were done eating. The pizza dough at Ronni's is made fresh daily. We wanted something a little different and decided to share the Taco Beef Pizza. The ground beef and melted mozzarella cheese were topped with fresh shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, and sliced black olives. Sides of sour cream and salsa you add yourself gave this pizza a true taco taste. The crust was nicely browned with a crisp edge and good mouth chew. Jerry and I love traditional hot wings, but we may branch out next time and try the BBQ, Honey Mustard, Jamaican Jerk, or Teriyaki. The atmosphere at Ronni's is always friendly and casual. This is a very small restaurant but that does not reflect the service or the food! My 14 yr old son has declared the pizza as his new favorite of all time. The crust is made fresh daily and the ingredients are fresh and delicious.We got an appetizer of loaded potato skins and they were cooked to perfection, the outside was crispy and tender in the middle. If you want good wings, Ronni's is the only place to go around the Winston-Salem area. I am a big chicken wing fan, and while I have found some decent wings from restaurants around town I had not found any I was super pleased with on a consistent basis. Ronni's is now that place. The wings are very meaty, crispy, and always consistently great. The restaurant is not the nicest, most modern place ever but when I am looking for good wings I am not worried about those things. I have not had the pizza here, but it also seems to be a big seller and looks pretty good from what I have seen on other diners tables. While it is a longer drive from downtown than many other wing places in WS, it is definitely worth the drive to give this place a try. read more

I grew up going to this place and learned to love wings because of Ronni's. I have never had a complaint about the food ever. It always tastes wonderful, no matter whether if you get mild or nuclear. The real score i'd like to give it is a 4.95, and that's because they have over the years skimped a little on wing size...and they are a little pricey compared to say, The Brick Oven (which has the second best tasting wings in the area). All in all though, the staff is always kind and good at keeping your glass full. Pizzas are pretty good too, and their other menu items just compliment the wings. I love Ronni's. read more

I'll be clear and say I was never a fan of bone-in chicken wings. Never. I've tried them a hundred times all across the US and I never understood why people raved about them...so up until recently I'd usually get boneless. Now my husband is a fanatic. So I was browsing Yelp one day looking for new (local, not chain!) places to try and came across Ronni's. We first went on a Saturday night and it was packed. A good sign, but I was starving. There was about a 30+ minute wait but my husband was dead set on eating there. Being the good wife I am I agreed. It is very small in there, crowded and with a divey feel. Kind of bare bones decor and seating but in a good way, if that makes sense? We ordered drinks (Beer for him, wine for me, in one of those tiny plastic bottles nonetheless!) and placed our order for the pizza/20 wing special. I was counting on myself eating the pizza and my husband eating the wings. Service was quick, efficient and friendly...especially considering how busy they were. The bone-in wings were nothing short of fantastic. Seriously. They were crispy, juicy and flavorful (we got hot). I'm a pizza fanatic but I ate way more wings than my husband! Definitely one of the best (if not THE best) wings I've ever had. And my husband agreed. We have gone several times since then and have tried the subs (the meatball sub is great!) and I love the side salad with cheese. But the wings are hands down our favorite. Now, the pizza in my opinion was not the best I've had. Husband liked it, but I thought it was greasy and there was not enough cheese. The dough was really good though...fresh and crispy. Wings are outstanding. Perfectly fried and served piping hot, never reheated. Ingredients are always fresh, never frozen. The sweet tea is perfect. I'm not sure what the attraction of this place is? We ordered wings, a burger and potato skins as an app. The potato skins were not bad except you only get five. Where is the other half of the third potato? Also, although they had plenty of cheese, there is only one 1/2" piece of bacon placed in the center. The burger was some type of gray meat. Unable to get it down so we took it to the pet for a snack. The service was horrible and we spent a good portion trying to eat HOT wings without anything to drink. Our waitress kept saying she was bringing us refills and then continued to wait on other customers. When did she bring our refill? She never did but opted to bring us to-go cups once she realized we had finished our meal. Our meal was served on thin paper plates. The kind you buy a pack of 500 for $1.99 at WalMart and have to triple up because they are so thin. Everything was disposable. Now this normally would be where I tell myself that this is a local place to just go with the experience and enjoy. But when the bill is $30 and the service stunk and being served on paper plates when I could've had a much nicer experience at a more upscale restaurant, well I'm sorry it doesn't add up to be worth what they charge. read more
