Under the hood of the "Super Cham" Sandwich.
    Fred B.

This visit was made as much due to the weather as a real desire to eat here. It was cold, with a slight wintery mix from time to time, and since this spot was the closest to me, I stopped here. Now they have taken the fast, casual concept to an even higher level - you not only have to go pickup up your order when your number is yelled out, now you are ask to electronically put your order in. I'm sure that works well for this restaurant since they do even less, while the customer is ask to do even more. I ask for a glass of water, and was told they do not offer water to diners, but would be glad to sell me a bottle of water! When I looked at my bill, I saw that they had added a 4% charge for using a credit card! No company gets charged 4% for credit card charges processed, most are usually no more than half that %. Will definitely not return regardless of the weather!

TJ's is one of our favorite deli and grill spots in Winston. They have really good deli food, sandwiches, soups and ice cream. Their service is always friendly, and they have a very relaxed and casual atmosphere. The Mennonite with lots of options. All the food is made fresh when you order it, so there can be a little wait sometimes. But, you can call and place an order for pickup. Highly recommended

Was running errand and saw they had ice cream here. Didn't want a really sweet flavor so I choose Banana. Had a real banana taste and didn't have that artificial banana taste. It was $4 for the one scoop. The place has 2 entrance, the deli side and ice cream entrance. They make all the ice cream in house. I also got to sample some

High time for an update to my review here. I think my around 30 check-ins (even though I don't work nearby anymore) are a testament to the fact that I still really like this place. The ownership has changed, but an experienced restaurateur in our area took it over, and I think they realized that this is DEFINITELY not a place to try to change. It's not at all broke. Don't try to fix it. My go-to orders continue to be the TJ's club (get the horseradish sauce to dip), the chicken salad salad or chef salad in a tortilla bowl, or the CHAM, now with a new hot honey version. One thing is for sure, with a sandwich or with a companion, I am ALWAYS getting a basket of onion rings. These continue to be my pick for the best onion rings in the area, both in terms of flavor, crispiness, and portion. The best, and I have tried a lion's share. Get them with the spicy ranch and/or horseradish sauce, and you will be addicted. I even have leftovers for the air fryer, big order! I will say, I think (though am not certain), the cold cut supplier has been changed. The club sandwich is still really good, but it isn't my clear cut favorite club in the area anymore. Regardless, with the horseradish sauce added to it, I still love it, and thanks to the excellent sides here I would typically always opt for it. I have tried the hot dog here, it's quite good, but I prefer elsewhere. Same could be said of the burger, quite good, I just have other places around I like it better. This place is great. I'll continue to be a customer when I get the opportunity to be in the area!

This is the perfect place for a quick, delicious, and filling lunch! Me and my daughters stopped in today and all had great meals. I got the Thai crunch salad which I know I will crave a lot now that I've had it! It was soooo good! It was crunchy, juicy and so flavorful! I was so full I couldn't finish the whole dish. Comes in a fluffy but crispy tortilla that was addictive. Highly recommend. Both my girls got hotdogs and I had to try it. SO GOOD! Might be the best hotdog in the triad. They got sides of baked beans and peaches and loved them too. Service is quick and you order at the counter! Ambiance is diner like but very clean and spacious! Family friendly. Can't wait to go again.

This was our first visit to this location, and it didn't disappoint. It's been years since we've TJ's and we have missed it. Truly one of the best delis around. The Cham can't be beat! My husband loves the grilled chicken with BBQ and bacon. Fast and friendly service.

On a no school day, this place was a good option for my and my little girl. It was our perfect date-day. Burgers and Icecream why not! They have booths as well as table seating options.

Charging credit card fees, without telling your customers first, is not okay. Online menu does not show that there is a side with wraps, but when you order at the register, it says "no side" under the wrap item and it takes off .75c - At least ask us if we want a side or not. Another issue; no water at a sit down restaurant! Only option is to purchase bottled water! At least have clear water cups, or this would be another expense? It does feel like a stingy place! The food is not bad but not like it used to be. 3 stars due to the way they do business.

It's not bad by fast food standards but it's never really wowed me, and every place I've been to has always been a super long wait. Unfortunately this one wasn't much better and once again I was waiting a reaaallly long time for my "fast" food. It was a little busy when I got there on a weekday evening, but even considering I was still waiting an awkwardly long time. The manager there seemed to be keeping a good handle on things at least and was professional and polite, so kudos for that. If I really wanted Whataburger for some reason I'd come back here but only if I was ready for a long wait.

The teenage order taker came out from the kitchen area and just looked at me. I finally said "hey, how are you doing". He didn't really respond so I just placed my order. To say he was disinterested is being kind. I got my napkins and filled my drink. The condiment section was lacking salt, so I just went to my table. When the food was brought to me, the employee offered me two kinds of ketchup. Her tray did not have any salt on it either, so I had to ask her to bring some, which she did. Very perfunctory. The burger and fries were just barely warm. The fries tasted fine, but we're nothing to get excited about. The burger patties were thin, dry, and insipid. The toppings were just average. Again, the burger was on the wrong side of warm and did not taste fresh at all. There's just not much positive to say about my experience here this evening. WHATABURGER? Try WHATADISAPPOINTMENT.

As the name suggests, this is still an operation focused on takeaway dining, though there are some tables available on the sidewalk outside. I'd end up taking my food home on this trip though. Once again I decided to sample the Chicago-style hot dogs offered here. And there have been improvements since my first visit. The product now comes on an actual poppy seed bun, as it should. I don't think the bun was steamed though and that hurts the texture. The hot dog itself had a good snap and taste, and the through-the-garden toppings were loaded well onto the bun. Something's still missing about the overall taste though, as these simply don't measure up to other Chicago-style hot dogs I've had -- including many far away from Chicago. The build of the sandwich looks closer to being correct than it did five years ago, but the flavors are still wrong, and I wish they'd work to figure out what it is they're missing. I placed my order on site rather than calling it in, and the young lady at the counter was pleasant. It took a little longer than I'd expected for the kitchen to prepare my order; maybe they just don't get many requests for the Windy City dog and they're just not well versed in putting it together? This latest experience leaves me scoring Joe's somewhere between two and three stars, and though the food was better than last time I still lean towards the lower side of that range. Maybe their more Carolina-themed food would be better and result in a higher rating, but there are already plenty of places I can go locally for a hot dog fixed "our way," many of which would be at a more competitive price point and with better options for drinks and seating. I wanted to try Joe's because of the hot dog options they have that aren't widely represented elsewhere in this area, and in those respects I still can't find much to love here.
