Three months later the squeak returned. Obviously we didn't bring the car back to the original mechanic, but took the car to Veryl's instead. The staff at Veryl's were extremely nice, fixed the problem (a ball joint), and took care of a tail light as well. They offered to give me a ride and pick me up while they fixed the car, and explained everything they would work on before they did it. Their estimate was spot on, and I didn't feel gross or taken advantage of like with other mechanics. The office is pleasant, with a very comfortable waiting room for short stays (cable TV, complimentary coffee, soft couches). And they're a 25 minute walk (or 5min ride) to the Common where you can go for a longer wait at Thirsty Mind Cafe where the wifi is free and the espresso drinks are well prepared. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about Veryl's, and from now on I won't be wasting my time with any other mechanics.

Ford refuses to do a recall on these defective EcoBoost engines. The team at Pages was very informative and showed a great deal of technical knowledge. Replaced engine quickly with no problems. My 2017 Ford Edge with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine experience a cracked engine block, leading to coolant leaks, overheating, and engine misfires. This issue is tied to a known defect in the engine's design, where the block's sealing surface warps due to high heat from the turbocharger, allowing coolant to leak into the cylinder. The Ford dealers are not going to tell you this, and I put my faith in Pages as they diagnosed and replace the engine quickly and perfectly. Back on the road! If you have a Ford EcoBoost engine that is failing, call Pages Automotive.
