DO NOT GO TO RON'S TIRES I have been using used tires for years without any problems. I got a flat three weeks ago and my usual repair and replace tire shop didn't have my size. I needed a tire to get on the road so I went to the next nearest tire shop "Ron's". Ron's tire shop was fast at the replacement, and he convinced me that I needed all new tires so he made me a "deal" . I paid 250 for 4 used tires that he said would last me. I was assured that the warranty covered them for 30 days as long as there wasn't a nail in them. Yesterday my tire failed while I was in Bastrop. I drive a minivan, and changing the tire is no easy feat. After two hours in the sun trying to replace it myself, a tow truck driver came and put the spare on for me. He noted that the tire did not have a nail, and another of the tires needed replacing so that it was not safe to drive. He told me how to check the age of a tire and told me that my tires were 4 years old.  I went to the only open tire shop in Bastrop at 5:30 and got two new tires (Discount Tire). They confirmed that the two tires were damaged, but not due to punctures.  This morning I brought the two tires to Ron's and asked for a refund on the two tires that were bad. He said they "don't give refunds"  and that he sold me "good tires" and that "I must have ran over something."  He said he would have given me two other tires if I bought the car there. I asked him if he would have covered the cost of the tow from Bastrop. He just shook his head like it wasn't his problem. The tires from this shop are not safe, they don't honor their warranty, and they lack customer service skills. read more

I never write reviews, let alone terrible ones... To ensure the safety of those on the road, please GO SOMEWHERE ELSE for all of your TIRE needs. I paid $40 for a plug and patch, only to find that my tire was completely flat in less than a mile. When I tried to make this right by calling in, they said my tire was covered by my warranty. I never received the services paid for, was not allowed to talk to someone who could rectify the situation correctly. For my safety, I will not be returning. read more

Was told over the phone that fixing a slow leak would cost $25. Since there were 2 separate pinholes, he waited until checkout to tell me that it would cost $50. He knocked off $10 only after I complained and told me "everybody who comes here knows it's $25/per patch"... everyone except me I guess. ‍ Instead of an apology for the confusion or empathy around the miscommunication, I was treated with indignation and a total price that was 63% more than a what I was told over the phone. Had they communicated clearly & politely, or kept the price at what I was told, they would have earned a 5 star review, repeated business from me and recommendations to my loved ones. Got two used tires and I've been coming here for awhile when needed. One of the used tires was leaking air the same day of purchase. Came a few days later to get it repaired and was charged $30 to fix the flat. The employee said since it wasn't a blowout he can't repair for free even though the warranty states otherwise. It is Sunday June 25th at 1:55 pm. Never seen this older man work here before but I feel scammed paying $30 for a flat fix. And to top it off he lied about what tire was fixed/patched. Suspicious! Given my warranty was for front left and back right. He put left rear for patch when in fact it was the front right. Apparently my car is also a Mazda when it's actually a white Ford Fusion. NEVER coming here again and advise no one else does. Definitely and probably not the first time this has been done. Lost my business along plenty more over $30. read more

Do not go to Rons Tire and Battery, my wife went there for tires, 175/55/15. They said no problem, it will be $160 for 2 used installed and balanced, ok half of new ,great, no they installed 155/65/15s! she didnt know,she trusted they would be rite, well when it came time to pay the said CASH only, they made her walk in 90+ degrees over a mile up the hill on MTK, in not so comfortable shoes. when she got back with $160 they scribbled out the 160 and told her its $200. She only took 160 so they wouldnt release the car unless $40 more, guess what they took the card this time. THEY 100% TOOK ADVANTAGE OF HER! We went back to let them know and was given the run around, we will replace them just let us get them in, 3 months still no tires the tires have become weather cracked, have to put air in everyday,they still say they ordered but havent seen anything. Asked for refund was told NO! This is a direct act of fraudulent service, if they didnt have the tires they should have said so ,not put my wife in danger, my transmission goes into limp mode, speedometer is off! They get a 4 only bc no one was wearing a mask while we are in stage 5 rn BUT, their service is quick, reasonable, and efficient! I am a small woman and going to ANY place for car help is daunting but never have I ever been bothered, questioned, etc by any of the men who work here. Most places I get hit on or they try to trick me on spending more but this place is just honest and good. Most of the workers are POC too! Cost $25 for a patched tire but well worth it for the efficiency and the fact that they don't bother me!!! read more

Never go here if you're looking for replacing your tires. I had to come back THREE times to get a tire replacement. First time, I bought the tire. immediately had an air bubble forming on the wall of the tire a day in. Come back to get it replaced and the manager accused me that I caused the air bubble to form and i was taking advantage of a new tire. Very unprofessional. I come back a second time to replace the same tire and two days later I had a blowout on the side of the freeway. I took the damaged tire to Discount Tire and said Ron's tires sold you 5 year old tire that was in horrible condition. I should have known better to not take my vehicle to a unqualified mom/pop shop and stick to the big franchise. I call Ron's general manager asking for a refund and he immediately gets insulted saying it's not his fault that tire blew out....quality customer service especially if you're selling 5-6 year old tires to people. Never go here, it will save you a headache. I like helping out small businesses here in Austin, just not this one. One last thing..they scratched my rims and didn't apologize for it. The bigger/older gentlemen needs to learn what customer service is. Might pay off for him someday :) read more

Ron's charged me double what he said on the phone; and smiled about it. The only reason I gave him 2 stars instead of one was because he did the job. But today, he lost a customer. In fairness, he said $40 on the phone; 10$ a tire. I was trading out tires between 2 cars - that's it. Leal's was going to charge $50 out the door. i came in with a flat, and bought a new tire. everything was great, but about every 2 days it would go flat. went back, got yelled at for not coming back sooner, then charged $39 for a "nail" in my tire. there wasn't one. two days later, flat again. i took it to discount tire, turn out they gave me the wrong tire size AND never plugged the hole, only patched it. ron & his team are all for their money, and not for your safety read more

Looking for propane? Try somewhere else. Not only was the guy at the shop super surly, I came to understand that they don't charge by volume, but rather per bottle. So, topping off half-full bottles costs the same. Pass! And when I went to my normal place, they weighed and topped off the bottle that Ron's had just "filled". It was short by more than a half gallon. So not only do they not charge per gallon, they short your fill on an empty bottle. Maybe their scale was off. Or maybe they habitually short customers. I won't find out because I won't be back. read more

Awful experience the worst tire place I have ever gone too they charged 25 the patch in any other place it's like 10 to 15 dollars and I came for a new tire and this is used and they charged 20 to take and put the tire $100when it was they're error the owner was there and saw everything and the owner is very rude the owner said he wasn't going to give us our tire with our rin if we didn't pay I really would not recommend anyone to come read more

This was one of my worst customer service experiences ever. There was only one employee working that day and clearly it was too much for him to handle changing one flat tire. I usually stand by the workers to make conversation with them while they fix my tire but this guy was rude and continuously kept asking me to give him space and even asked me if I was going to do the work for him and if I wasn't to go inside. This one time, I spent an entire week driving around town on an almost flat tire. I kept change in the car and continued putting air in my tire like a lazy dumb girl, to no avail. I finally caved and left work to get the verdict on my tire. I called them to make sure they were open and drove up. I got out of my car, explained my issue and they got to work right away. I was in and out in 15 minutes. The nail in my tire was gone, my tire patched up and I only paid $15. For being a single female and an easy target to scam, I am always leary of anything to do with automotive stuff. This was not the case here. Not happy at all. I was recommended to this company because they were reasonably fair priced for fixing flats by the time I left it was $30 to patch a tire. They atleast need a sign saying their prices because I definitely could have gotten it done cheaper than that damn near could have just bought a new spare. We went to get a tire repaired. We were unsure which tire was bad. Once they found the bad tire, they patched the tire for around $15. However they charged $20 extra because they had to check 2 tires to find out which one was bad. They never mentioned beforehand that they charge $10 per tire to check them.
