I have been to this store previously, generally for minor purchases, watch batteries, sizing, etc. This time was different. I had purchased a watch as a gift, online, for a retiring co-worker. The watch I had found was pretty unique, something I had expected the recipient would enjoy, which she did. The problem was, this supposed quality watch died within about 6 months of gifting it. That really disappointed my friend. Though not complaining, she asked if I could help, as she knew of nowhere near her that she trusted to fix it. She found it was not a battery issue. I brought it to Ronal. Ben examined it and found that I bought it as new, it was an "old stock" watch, and the movement went bad. He explained that it would require a new movement, that this was a Swiss watch and if the Swiss movement was available it would generally cost more than I paid for the watch. He said that he would check into it and asked if a quality Japanese movement would be satisfactory. I approved of his very fair estimate and he had the watch restored in a couple of weeks. My friend was elated to get it back running. I realized afterward that he actually made really nothing on this transaction, after buying the new movement, and did this only to satisfy my needs, as customer service. I believe that is what these people look to do here and for that I am very grateful. read more

Been here a couple of times and thought Ben was an honest man, but from a thick band and he took another ring to fill in the diamond holes, he gave me a very thin band, as I'm typing this my stomach hurts because I trusted this man with customizing a ring that was going to be for my 10 year old. And he gave me such a thin band stealing all the gold from the rings. Extremely disappointed! He lost my business! My trust! (and provided an additional ring with 9 little diamonds to cover the holes! He didn't have to touch the ring just fill the holes that removing the diamonds would leave! That's it! Beware of the quality of jewelry in this store. I purchased a pair of sterling silver hoops for approx 60-80 dollars.Within a short period of time a copper color stain was all over earrings. I took them to another jeweler and he told me to throw them out that they were no better than costume jewelry. He said the quality was terribly poor. I went back to Rontal and Ben gave me a second pair of earrings and took old pair but asked me for another 10 dollars. Needless to say same thing happened to second pair and again I was told by another jeweler to throw them out. I've had watch batteries and watches fixed and Ben repaired them fine but was always costly. I won't be purchasing anything here . Update........ posted same review on Facebook. Outstanding service, with incredibly friendly and personable people. I am so thankful to have been referred here. My grandfather passed away last August, he was everything to me, and he gave me his wedding band before he passed away. The band was too large for my fingers and since this is extremely sentimental and a very important piece of him that I get the privilege of having, I could not risk wearing it without it fitting correctly. I was referred here by my late step-father, and just got around to going in. I am so glad that I did. The ring was sized for my needs perfectly, and the engraved names of my grandparents and their wedding date (which is also the day I got legally married to my husband), were kept and preserved beautifully.
