Substandard finish and no follow-up on a $25,000+ project…read more I hired Prime America Roofing to apply a silicone coating to my flat roof. The project was completed and the roof is sealed, which is the reason this isn't a one-star review, but the standard of craftsmanship fell well short of what a job of this size and cost should deliver. The problems were not isolated; they accumulated across the work, and several caused damage or follow-on issues that I had to resolve myself. The trouble began during application. The silicone sealer dripped onto the ground below the roofline, and I was fortunate to be walking the property at the time, because I was able to wipe the residue away before it set. Had I not been there, it would have dried in place. The application itself was careless: sealer splattered across my skylights (I have the photos to show it), leaving a mess where there should have been clean, deliberate work. Beyond the cosmetic problems, the crew failed to restore key components to their proper positions. The electrical conduits on the roof, which rest on wood blocks, were not returned to their original placement, and as a result the metal conduits became fused directly onto the dried silicone layer. The condensate drainage line for my AC was also left improperly routed; instead of running cleanly from the unit to the drain, it was left hanging, which caused water to back up into the AC unit and ultimately stopped it from working. The detail that best captures the lack of care was my outdoor bathroom sink. The crew used it to clean their painting equipment and left dried silicone lumps caked across the porcelain. It was filthy. The only way I could remove the buildup was to scrape it off with a straight-edge razor. What pushed my rating down further was the absence of any accountability afterward. I notified the job supervisor of these issues more than two weeks ago and have received no response from the company since. A reputable contractor stands behind its work and addresses legitimate concerns; silence after a $25,000+ project is its own kind of answer. I expected professionalism from start to finish: clean application, components restored to working order, respect for the property, and responsiveness when problems arise. What I received instead was sloppy workmanship, preventable damage to my AC system, a cleanup burden left on me, and no follow-up. I also needed one urgently because LA was due to very heavy rainfall (the most recent one that started right before Christmas and ended two days ago). I'm very particular whenever I search for a new vendor because I've met with literally hundreds of different contractors/vendors/trade specialists in my lifetime due to renovating multiple properties in different cities. My search strategy might be overkill for some but it pays off for me in the long run - Once a highly rated business has been identified, I cross reference the business using different platforms such as Yelp, Thumbtack, Google, Houzz and Angi. I then further drill down to see how long the business has been around, if they have any complaints with the BBB, and what the least satisfied comments look like. Anytime Roofing was one of a handful of companies I was interested in. I contacted them using Yelp's quote system and I called them as well. Aviv answered my call and told me he could have somebody inspect my roof as early as the next morning and told me he could start on repairs the same day if I agreed to his pricing. This was ideal since the rain was due to start the following afternoon. I also later noticed Aviv responded to me via the Yelp messaging system as well. At 7:30 am the next morning, Aviv's roofer came on time and inspected my concrete tiled roof. I was then contacted by Aviv and given a verbal estimate over the phone. After I agreed to the price, he immediately sent over a written estimate via email for me to review and sign. Half my payment was due before the work started and the other half would be due upon completion. There is a 4% credit card charge if you do not want to pay via cash/Zelle. I needed a minimum of 300 square feet of underlayment replaced and some new wood installed as some of my existing wood was damaged. This was also a rush job since heavy rain was going to start later that day. Aviv mentioned he felt more underlayment should be replaced as he saw extensive damage but told me this could be done later and there should be no leaks with this current repair. The work was completed in roughly 8 hours and there were no leaks to be found after 4 straight days of heavy rain. Aviv also followed up a day after the rain stopped to inquire how my roof held up to the storm which I felt was a nice touch. I highly recommend calling Aviv and Anytime Roofing for a quote whether it's an emergency repair or if you are collecting bids for larger underlayment projects. He may not be the absolute cheapest roofing business you can find but he responds promptly, his roofers are punctual, and the ease and quickness of the estimate process are things you don't typically find with other roofing companies. Reliability and consistency are important factors that I feel deserve a premium as well.

You may see quotes in a tight range. In the end, it's the contractor who differentiates a proposal. Lior completed our roof project today--our first experience with United and Lior. On time and on budget. With the final inspection behind us, I would welcome the chance to work with Lior again. Lior's quote wasn't the cheapest by a small margin. Examining the fine print, however, we found that the slightly cheaper proposal capped the amount of free plywood used for a flat roof repair. Lior clarified that there was no plywood limit in his proposal, one of the factors that won the day. In the end, I was more comfortable with the contractor taking the materials risk than potentially being stuck with an overage: worth a small delta in pricing. Lior is transparent and honorable. We had a minor mishap during the period of performance...no injuries, but a bit of property damage. It was reasonable to determine that it was a shared responsibility incident. We had a dispassionate discussion with Lior and quickly found a satisfactory solution without involving the courts or insurance companies. So...add 'reasonable' to Lior's character traits. Our new roof looks terrific. Lior didn't cut any corners. If you consider United for your project, you will not be disappointed!
