Skip these guys, they play games and they're very shady. I had a small area of damage done to my roof (roughly 8"x10") by some animal who tore up a couple shingles. I watched several "repair videos" and it seems like a pretty simple job of replacing a couple of shingles and should take about 30 minutes. I would have done it myself but at 63, my balance isn't what it was and I wasn't that confident about climbing around on my roof. Instead, I contacted Samson Roofing. I sent several photos and they gave me a quote of $350. That sounded fine. I asked when they could do the repair and the games began... "do you want it patched or repaired?"... I already explained in my original quote request that I want the roof "properly repaired"... then "do you want us to pull a permit?"... no, permits are not required, then attempts at upselling, "how about we replace the roof and give you a 10 year warranty"... no, just the repair, the rest of the roof is fine... then, getting tired of the nonsense, I sent repeated emails asking if they were going to honor their quote and fix the roof... NO REPLY. My entire experience with Samson Roofing has been shady at best. Anyone who knows anything about roofing could look at the photos and immediately be able to come up with an accurate estimate of the time required, the necessary materials and labor... but not Sampson Roofing. If it's a choice between these guys and someone else... pick someone else. UPDATE: 1/20/25 Sampson Roofing responded to my review... "I ask you for your address and phone number. You never gave it to me so I can send somebody to do it." I responded to their false claim... Your last message said, "I need the full address so I can send my representative to check it out and see if it's possible to repair and give you a price for the roof repair." You weren't going to send someone out to do the repair, you were going to send someone out to jerk me around and upsell me. Not interested. I sent a photo. It's minor damage, OF COURSE it's possible to repair, as everyone can see. If you knew anything about roofs, you would know that. And you already did give me a price to repair the roof... $350. I asked repeatedly if you would honor that quote and you refused to reply. I'm not going to give out my address and contact information so I can be pestered and bombarded with your sales crap. I just wanted my roof repaired. Pretty simple. My review stands... although I'll edit it to include my reply to your false response. UPDATE 1/21/25 Sampson Roofing replied... "I was going to send you a guy that can fix it for $350 but you need to send me the address so I can come over and do that" Sampson's previous emails were all over the map, including doing some kind of a "patch," so before sending my contact information I simply asked for clarification of our agreement... "That would be very much appreciated. To clarify... I need the roof REPAIRED properly, with underlayment and the damaged shingles replaced so it can pass a building inspection, NOT a patch job. Is that our understanding? And also, when can you make the repair?" Sampson Roofing did not reply and waited until today to respond... "It looks like all you wanted to do is harass me and not do any work with me." What the hell's wrong with this guy? "Harass you?" I don't know you from Adam. I have some minor damage to my roof and I want to get it fixed properly and in a timely fashion. I asked Sampson Roofing to let me know WHAT was going to be done and WHEN, and again I get the runaround. It's a minor repair. It shouldn't be this frickin' complicated or this much trouble. These guys are flakes and shady as hell. I don't know how they're still in business if this is the way they treat their customers. UPDATE 1/29/25 Sampson Roofing left a comment... "I wish I had your name and address I would've come over to take care of you, but I think you are a competition or something otherwise nobody would write a review like this for somebody who didn't do a job for you." No, sir, I am not "your competition," I was a potential customer. And the review isn't for you, it's to make other people aware of your business practices, which I find less than honest and straightforward. And the reason you don't have my name and address is because I couldn't get a straight answer out of you for what should have been a simple transaction. People can read, word for word, what transpired above. If you are upset by less than stellar reviews, I think you should reexamine your business practices and the way you treat customers. For the record, I contacted another gentleman who quoted me $200 for the repair, including materials. He showed up the next day and repaired the damage. After messaging them on Yelp, they quickly came out to provide free estimate and shortly after emailed us a very thorough quote that clearly explained each and every detail of what they would be repairing. For someone that knows nothing about roofing or construction, it was very easy to understand the estimate. After getting quotes from several other roofers, we found that Samson Roofing was the most thorough when it came to evaluating our roof and the repair it needed. They were very transparent in communicating when extra costs may be incurred. We were looking to replace our second story flat roof, and have solar panels removed to do they job, which they took care of. They also ended up even making repairs to the first story we didn't even know we needed. Ilya, who was on site during the work, was SO nice and very communicative. He made himself available when we had questions and kept us update with how the job was going by sending us pictures. The team cleaned up well after the job was done too. The job overall took only a few days and they were able to fit our job in about a week after we signed the contract. Couldn't recommend this company enough. Samson roofing worked for my daughter and son in law and they were very happy with the professional estimate and worked performed in a timely manner. They had many problems with their flat roof and it has now been resolved. So I called Samson for my home in LA for a small leak I had. He came out withoing three days and fixed it onsite. Wow, fast and beat the next rains that were coming. I asked if he did work in Laguna beach where I have a home that has been repaired THREE TIMES by a local roofer but without success. Leaks in the same 5 places rain after rain after rain. Samson said he would look at it. Within two weeks they went down there, and reroofed the entire three story home in two days with a torch down flat roof. They went the extra mile by sealing gutters and skylights. I hired Samson to do a small repair on my garage roof . Simply said , I called them and within one hour or so they showed up to fix my vent and the price of $550.00 was very reasonable. The second company I had cone out first quoted me $3500 and then $2000. I was having an issue with an ongoing leak from my roof. I have tried to have it fixed 3 times with no luck. They weren't able to find and fix the area where the water is coming in from. I decided to let someone else look at it. I looked up roof repair services in my area and decided to try Samson Roofing. They responded right away and after a few texts, Samson showed up to take a look at it. I really appreciated that he made time for me on such short notice. There was heavy rain coming so I needed to have looked at as soon as possible. Samson was quick, respectful, professional, and most importantly HONEST. Samson Roofing saved the day. They found an stopped a roof leak we had for 12 years. 12 years ago we had a new roof installed by a roofing company, not Samson Roofing. The roofing company tried to fix the leak and then abandoned us. We paid three other roofing companies to fix the leak. None of them were successful. We called 4 different roofing companies that had good reviews on Yelp and Samson was one of the 2 companies that picked up the phone. When we called, Samson picked up the call himself! It can go either way though, right? We scheduled for him to come check out our roof in a few days. He showed up on time at the door with a younger assistant. To keep everyone safe, they entered through the back and the whole appointment was done outdoors. He was efficient and gave us a good quotation. From when we decided to go with Samson Roofing to when his crew completed the project, it was less than a week. The crew was efficient and they cleaned up well every day before they leave. We really appreciated that. They did a deeper clean on the very last day before taking off. Samson came the next day to pick up the check and schedule for the inspection. Inspection was also super easy. The guy who came was super respectful because of Covid. He walked into our place and saw that the smoke detectors were intact, gave some advice and politely walked out. He was in our house for maybe 5 minutes tops and when he approached the door, he actually took a step back and let us open the door (contactless yay!) - which we really appreciate. We had considered installing solar panels after the roof and Samson reminded us of the tax credits we will be able to get if we do it by the end of the year, but he wasn't pushing for us to have it done asap. In fact, he even told us to go back and check our bills to see if it actually makes sense to do it. And we didn't end up doing it. He was totally cool about it. Samson is the kind of business owner who really cares for his customers. If i could give zero, i would. We just found out we needed to replace the skylight on our roof goin from a shake roof to tile. There was no mention of that at all during process. We have twice called them to fix our leaking skylight (cause they didnt do the job correctly). They came out saying it was free but then tried to charge us $450 (i argued and we settled on $225). Now we have to spend, $1,500 to fix correctly and fix damaged caused by leaky skylight. They dont honor their warranty. DO NOT USE! read more
