I went here with a friend on a Saturday evening to have some wine & chill. You have to reserve your spot beforehand online and pay $15 per person. This reserves your table and gets you a water bottle and a bag of chips. At our time slot (4-7pm) it was relatively empty which was surprising considering it was a warm August evening. The menu consists of wine by the glass, bottle, or flights. They also have small bites like hummus or you can order pizza from a local spot and have it delivered straight to your table. Our server Jordan was the absolute best and seemed to know everything about each wine. He was friendly & bubbly and honestly made our experience 1000 times better. Myself and my friend both got flights so that we could try as many wines as possible. For 3 flights, prices are around $20-30 which is reasonable considering brooklyns usual prices. The white and rosé were both really good but I wasn't a huge fan of the orange wines. In regards to the space, it is very Instagram friendly with hammocks, greenery, and a nice view of Brooklyn. They have small tables for 2 & bigger ones for groups. Rooftop Red has to be one of Brooklyn's hidden rooftop because it's so hard to find. Whatever you do... open up your google map... the location there seem to be more accurate than IOS maps. That being said... I was later to the party but it was just getting started! It's such a nice rooftop with a great view. Very breezy and nice layout with hammocks if you want to relax or sit on the picnics tables. They have a great selection of reds, white and róse wines. You can order pizza, which is what we did... 5 boxes later and an extended amount of wine, we all left drunk and happy with our bellies full. Great atmosphere for a date, also a nice place to sip wine and have a chat with some friends. My friends and I made a reservation on Sunday for 6-9pm, I think it was the best time to go because we were able to get nice photos with each other while the sun was setting and it was slightly cooler at night. At first the place was a little hard to find but after when we found the building, we had to walk 5 flights of stairs, can't take the elevator. Admission ticket only included 1 small boxed bottled water and a bag of chips. I'm a little disappointed that if you wanted more water, it would be $2 for a small boxed water (I personally don't think that's right because it's forcing customers to buy water during this hot weather). We had to ask around as we wandered aimlessly but eventually were able to find it. We were rewarded with a pretty sweet rooftop with chill vibes - handful of tables as well as hammocks. We were there on a weekday so wasn't too crowded. Wine at reasonable prices, can order by the glass or get a bottle. Staff there was super nice and let us sample around until we settled on a bottle we liked. I'm reluctant to write this 5-star review because I want this place to stay a well-kept secret. FOREVER. Hammocks, a city view, and wine....honestly, what more do you need in life? My group of 6 showed up on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and found that 3 out of the 4 hammocks were unoccupied. We proceeded to swing in said hammocks for FOUR FULL HOURS unperturbed, all while enjoying a sunny 80 degree day in Brooklyn. The wines are reasonably priced and service is friendly; they allowed us to sample the wines before committing. All of us fell in love with the Rooftop Reds White Blend ($28)....we burned through 3 bottles of this! My ONLY gripe is the security here is kind of (for lack of a better word) annoying, so make sure you PLAN AHEAD and nab your free tickets on Eventbrite BEFORE trekking into the navy yard. Guys. You're sleeping on Rooftop Reds. Know how I know this? Because I was here on an absolutely perfect Saturday afternoon, and it was so relaxed and comfortable and uncrowded that I can't believe we were still in NYC. When I told my wife that we were going to a gorgeous rooftop to drink well-curated and surprisingly affordable wines (I'm a big fan of the Silver Thread Pinot Noir rosé) in a hammock on a summer Saturday, she laughed in my face. Not for the usual reasons (me being incompetent, me being stupid, me being naked, etc.), but because she insisted that if there were hammocks at a rooftop bar, they would never be available without fighting some assholes who hogged the hammocks so they could be instagramming their afternoon. But she was so wrong, because at Rooftop Reds, it wasn't overrun with people so WE were the assholes instagramming our afternoon. (Because what's an amazing afternoon if you can't rub it in your friends' faces?) We played cornhole, we sipped wine, we laid in the hammocks, and we chilled at a covered picnic table when the sun got too hot. We ordered delicious pizza. We relaxed to the excellent soundtrack (heavy on A Tribe Called Quest, which I fucking LOVE), and looked out at the gorgeous views in every single direction. Life was good. I only have two complaints, and they are minor: 1. Eventually you're all going to figure out how awesome Rooftop Reds is and it'll get more crowded. I realize me telling a bunch of you is going to make that more likely, but the guys that run this place are awesome and they deserve the business. I'm certainly going to give them more of my business. 2. The faux grass covering the rooftop results in more static electricity than normal, and we were all shocking each other all day. **WARNING: Greedy, vindictive, and terrible service** It pains me to write this review, because over the last 5 years I've been a loyal patron of rooftop reds, bringing many friends and telling almost everyone I know that it's one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. Recently, I had an experience so terrible that I must write this because I've truly never experienced something so awful as a customer. My friend wanted to have her birthday party here. She didn't know how many people would attend to commit to their events price of $75pp because not everyone could stay for the full 3 hours. So, she booked two separate tables for 16 people. She called 4 times during the week to ask if we could be seated near each other. No one picked up, and the voicemail was full. On the day of the party, rooftop reds seated the two tables as far as possible on the opposite corners of the space. They snapped at my friend for walking to our table to say hi to us. There were 2 empty tables 6 feet away from each other and they refused to let us move. We didn't even care to congregate as a group of 16 - we just wanted the birthday girl to be able to walk between two tables of her friends. We are all vaccinated and have taken covid precautions extremely seriously. The events manager was spiteful and vindictive - they were mad we did not make an event reservation and pay $75pp. They took no responsibility for not answering their phones all week - they repeatedly blamed and reprimanded us. They told us the "compromise" to seat us together would be a $600 minimum, with only 1.5 hours left at the table to meet it!!!! At that point no one had even come by our table to take our order. Worst of all was the condescension about how this was all for "covid precautions". Clearly if you have the money to blow on a $75 cover charge or $600 minimum, they don't care about group size and will throw their "covid precautions" out the window. It's completely unethical and disgusting to play by a different set of rules for money. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Decided to come here as a last minute date. It was incredibly hard to find - the buildings in the Navy Yard are not consecutively numbered. While we were trying to find the building, we were warned by another couple about this place. They told us to not go and felt they wasted their money. Oh were they right! We were seated directly in the sun - it was a really hot day. We saw multiple tables under the shade so we tracked down the waiter to ask to move. She seemed weird about it. We were brought bagged chips and water. The chips and wine were such a weird combination - don't do it. We order two flights - nothing really stood out to us. We also ordered pizza which took forever to come. It was almost 3PM by then and they were ready to kick us out for the next group. While I love the concept, this place is a waste of money. You have to pay to get in which was over $30 for both is us. Views aren't even great. Service was mediocre. Building incredibly hard to find. Pluses of this place: The views are breathtaking. That should be enough of a reason to come. But the wines are pretty phenomenal tasting as well. I came for a birthday party recently, upon seeing it was average ($10) a glass I thought I'd only treat myself to one but found myself coming back for a second. They fill er up pretty well, no skimps here. But they also usually have some kind of beer for half of that price. The time I came there was only one option and I wasn't a fan. But this is also definitely more a winery Downsides: It's inside of the navy shipping yard that's completely enclosed with a fence and it is mad easy to get lost in here for several several minutes. Google maps is useless. If you find a person, ask them if they have any idea where they are or where you are. The bathroom is also located on another floor and you have to climb stairs. (Shudders) Upsides again: There are hammocks! Hammocks on a roof! Raises the roof. There are also games like cornhole. Lastly, don't get upset over this but sometimes this venue makes you get a reservation online through eventbrite. If you miss out on making a reservation and it says the venue is booked for friday night, generally it's not at all and they will still let you in. No one ever checked my reservation coupon, or anyone else's in the party, unless they drove through the gates. The establishment was relatively empty when I arrived so I don't really understand what the paper is for other than if you drove. Lastly, the place closes a bit early. 9pm on weekdays and 10pm I think on weekends. They do movie screenings here on the roof some nights with popcorn. Ohh I love this place! Its the world first commercial rooftop vineyard. Cool right?! I found this place accidentally on yelp while looking for some vineyards around the area then I saw this & it looks really interesting. That day I called them to go but they don't allow anyone without rsvp through their website & its fully booked so I decided to sign up for the following week. Rsvp is for free. When we got there it was not the place I imagined. You'll go through a checkpoint to get in & the security scan your rsvp barcode. The parking is easy. Its just right infront of the building. We saw another security that gave us a wristbands. We use the stairs till we got to the rooftop. We didn't had any problem looking for the place coz they have a lot of security to ask downstairs & even before going in to the rooftop. The place is so chill! Hammock, picnic blanket, tables, chairs & some games are provided. Its beautiful! Not crowded coz it looks like they limit the amount of people, great music & the vibe. They have wine tasting or glass & bottle of wine. We got 1 bottle of rosé for $30+. I suggest to get bottle than glass coz you can save more $$. If United airlines had a vineyard, this would be it. Here's an honest assessment step by step. First, you pay $40 for two people to sit on their roof. You are bombarded by rules, and you sit for 20 minutes..... no one notices you are there. You then have to chase down a waiter to get a menu and they give you attitude. 10 minutes later, you are given warm, boxed water (because that is somehow more sustainable than tap?) by a grumpy gentleman. 10 minutes later you have to scream at the waiter to get their attention. You are charged 16-20 dollars for mediocre quality, small pours of wine. You are then have to grab the attention of someone else (TBD if they are actually your wait staff), to order food. You then spend another $50 to get dry pita bread with some cheap ingredients and some other disgusting garbage. At the end of the night, I spent $150 dollars for terrible food, an olympics watch party that tried to show replays rather than a live feed (this really happened until multiple people complained!!!), cheap wine, and the worst customer service I have had in years. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Such a rip off. If you like wasting money, go somewhere in Manhattan, at least wasting money in the city is fun. read more

Their wines come from vineyards in the Finger Lakes and the Northfork which I've been to many times so you're not paying for anything homegrown. In all my years I have never in my life experienced what transpired yesterday at this establishment. In the beginning me and my friends were having the absolute best time, until one of the busboys decided to throw out our pizzas and when we confronted him asking him what he is going to do he proceeded to say he was going to the manager to discuss. When we saw him return we watched him take the 2 pizza boxes out of the garbage and place them back on our table as if nothing happened. Never in my 35 years of life have I experienced that level of disrespect and blatant disregard of my humanity. For management I strongly advise that you take this opportunity to properly train your staff because it was clear this was not the first time this has happened. Absolutely love Rooftop Reds! We went around 3 pm on a Saturday (we got tickets for the 12 - 5 pm time slot, which I got tickets for the Monday before as they can fill up throughout the week). The best part about Roof Top Reds is the ticketing/reservation requirement - because they limit the number of people who can enter the roof there aren't that many people compared to typically NYC roof tops and at some points can feel like you have the place to yourself when you're among the grape vines. We started with the red and white wine flights. Neither of us were wine experts, so our server used what we liked about our flights to make recommendations for us. Both of us were astounded by the quality of our recommendations - both of us agreed we had our favorites wines ever based off of our server's recommendation! Went with a few friends and while the place itself is in the middle of nowhere, the rooftop is spacious and inviting. They have cornhole and hammocks as well as seating areas. One note- they only have some small snacks, nothing too crazy. We also went on a hot day and it was a bit unbearable in the heat that far up. The ambiance once you make it up is pretty amazing. There are great views, many tables, hammocks, games, and an area that can be reserved. The service was pretty good. At times they were a bit slow checking in on us, but they were very friendly. I wasn't a huge fan of the $10 cover on Saturday. I wish there were more wine options, the sign at front had mentioned Malbec, but they did not have any. You can order a pizza, but need to call a separate line to get it delivered. There were some drains and some people at a nearby table had their things soaked in water because there wasn't a great spot to hang their things up and when it fell on the ground their jackets got so aid with yellow water from the plants. Even though I'm giving it 3 stars, I'd still go again if I'm in the area. I'm hoping I can improve the next rating if they have a few more wine options, a cleaner bathroom available and something to make sure people's items don't have to sit in the ground and get soaked. It's so unusual to find a spacious rooftop bar in NYC. We were here on a Saturday around 4pm on the only day of the year the Navy Yard is open to the public, so you'd think it would be packed, but there was plenty of room for all. There was a birthday party that had a corner of the rooftop booked - it was a cute covered space where they were able to put up decorations. The hammocks were great too! The rooftop actually has vines growing as you sit at one of the picnic tables or one of the four large hammocks. Enjoy a tasting or stop by the rooftop bar for other options. My friends and I did the tasting of their original wines and all were quality. Most were on the slightly sweeter side, but not in a way that non-sweet loving winos wouldn't love it. Had a lovely time at Rooftop Reds on Wednesday evening. Sipped on different wines and enjoyed the perfect weather from a unique oasis in the heart of Brooklyn. Quality: Rooftop Reds is an urban winery that is all about the experience. They have a large selection of wines, some produced from grapes grown on the rooftop, but most from other regions. During our visit we ordered two Flights, the A Little Bit Of This, A Little Bit Of That with a 2018 Rooftop Reds Traminette 2019, Rooftop Reds Dry Rose NV Rooftop Reds, and Crooked Lake, and the Bordeaux Bae with a NV Rooftop Reds Crooks Lake 2017, Rooftop Reds Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, and Rooftop Reds Cabernet Franc. We also ordered glasses of the 2018 Rooftop Reds Black Label Blaufrankisch, 2015 Rooftop Reds Riesling, and Atwater Bubble Pinot Noir Rose. All good quality, none that stood out so much that we needed a bottle, but none we wished they would take back. We also did a Cheese Pairing with our first Flight, and ended up ordering a pizza from Il Porto for a more substantial snack. Quantity: Flights come with 2oz pours, large enough to give a sense of the wines. The Cheese Pairing is just a bite, but fun to do. Value: $15 per person to visit. $20 for Flights of Wine. $6 for a Cheese Pairing. $11-$17 for a Glass of Wine. Ambiance: The environment at Rooftop Reds is nearly as important as the wine. Located on the roof of a five story building in the center of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, it is an experience just to visit. Be prepared to hike up five flights, but once you reach the top it is worth it. Picnic tables are spread out across the space with grapes strung up between. Christmas lights provide a lovely source of light, but so do the buildings in the distance. It was beautiful watching as the sun set and the stars came out on this gorgeous evening. Checking the weather is definitely important, but the right night provides for a romantic date or an enjoyable evening with friends. Crowd: Reservations are required and come with a $15 charge. The tours fill up quickly as do the weekend hours, so plan in advance. Service: Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Beautiful views, a chillax vibe and sipping on (fill in blank with your favorite wine) with great company are the few of many pluses for my Yelp adventures. Rooftop Reds is definitely a must-experience for the natives and tourists. If you are looking for wall-to-wall people, loud music, "shots, shots, shots," rooftop experience, you have to go elsewhere. But if you are looking for quiet conversations and peaceful, good vibes, Rooftop Reds is definitely right up your alley. First off, the vineyard on the rooftop is too cool for school. There are rows of grapevines with labels of the potential future wine in the making. It's so organized in a way that you can actually relish on the beauty of the process by walking through the rows while getting to your table or hammock en route to meeting your peeps. The bar is situated in the front which is usually your starting point if you just arrived at your event. Menus provide a decent selection of wines but the wine flight gives you multi-tasting experience. Overall the wine prices are standard depending on what you buy. The vibe is so low-key and comfortable that you may forget you are there and dont want to leave. Like seriously. Depending on your taste in planning your outings, this place is perfect for finishing your day or to pre-game before any night excursions. They do have many events on their calendar like yoga and wine, movie nights and the Ribs and Rosé on Sundays (which I will review shortly below). You just have to pay in advance which is easy peasy on eventbrite. Location is cool but expect to get lost the first time. It's not seamless finding your way. Expect the uber driver to drop you off at a random point or you will definitely ask some folks if this is the way to the rooftop. There is a security guard stationed in the small booth who was helpful so you can find your way. When you see building 275, that is a right building. Dont question it, just go inside. It's not attractive, pure industrial. And yes, it looks like a building from any said horror movie but I can assure you that you will be safe and fine. No elevator; pure walk-up to the top. Can't avoid this workout. I guess the drinking wine on this cool-a$$ rooftop are bucket list goals (even for me). During events, you can't order food but on any other regular, reserved day I believe you can order your own pizza or your bring own food (BYOF). No parking in this popular area. Just uber or take public transportation. Ribs and Rosé quick overview (since my review is already long). Honestly, the experience was cool. You feel like you are at home and dont want to leave. Its definitely not crowded so it may appear that no one is there. It's a big rooftop so everyone is kinda scattered. The setup was organized; I had to check in first at the bar before getting a plate of food. The only con was the food which was...blah. I dont eat ribs but my buddies said the ribs were on point. Everything else (beans, chicken, cornbread and potato salad) had an off-taste. I was definitely disappointed. The food was catered by Dinosaurs BBQ and it was my first time experiencing the food. I was not impressed. But the Rooftop Red experience made up for it and we stayed until closing. For large parties, there is a minimum spend of $75 per person - which is ridiculous. I have a few friends who don't drink much, so we had to buy so much more wine than we were able to drink within the 3 hour time frame, so there was so much wine wasted and leftover. The staff was accommodating and allowed us to take home bottles of wine in order to make up for the amount of money that we were contracted to. The food/snack options were extremely limited, (I was hoping for more substantial portions in the snacks for $75/head) and the pizza was our saving grace. A bit random to find within the navy yard, the building wasn't well marked so when we first went in the building I wasn't sure that we were in the right place. Upon arriving at the roof Saturday around 12:15 for the 12-5 time slot, my friend and I were the first there for almost a half hour of private rooftop before people started showing up. They were still opening the bar and setting up when we got there. Since the tickets are preordered (for free) in advance, it never really go very crowded. We secured an area of hammocks and benches for our group of 12, and had a nice Saturday picnic. You can brink your own food, and buy wine by the bottle/carafe/glass (they also have beer). This is a long overdue review for a perfect rooftop winery. My hubby and I visited in spring of 2017 and had a blast. The concept of establishment itself is original and was perfectly executed. In fact we met one of the owners and had a nice little chat about how they got started. Besides that I will point out that there's plenty of wines to chose from and the prices are fair. Ps. They do have a no smoking policy which I am in favor of. On the particular day that I visited one of the patrons decided to light up, I was highly annoyed but thankfully he was told to put his cigarette out. To all the people who can't handle their alcohol, please stay far away!!!! You all ruin a perfectly good time for the rest of us that just want to have a good time in a good space. read more

Cute rooftop vibes in the Brooklyn Naval Yard with a nice view. There is no A/C or fans up there, so warning if you're going on an extremely hot day (like we did). There were only a few tables underneath some covering that we were lucky to get. The flights are affordable and cute. Customizable picnic baskets and option to order pizza they will serve from a nearby pizza place made fresh. I got the Rose wine flight. I def recommend going for a relaxing day. read more

Rooftop Reds is definitely one of the most interesting concepts for wine in the city! It is part vineyard and part wine bar, but either way, it is a fantastic experience. By going to Rooftop Reds, you are able to drink wine while also watching the latest vintage grow and enjoy a beautiful view of the city. The wines themselves are reasonably priced, though keep in mind they aren't full pours like you'd get at a wine bar. Still, I was shocked at the quality of some of the glasses compared to the price. In addition, Rooftop Reds often seems to be hosting fun events where you can enjoy both the view and the wine. There are games if you want to play them, but you can also relax and enjoy the sunset (or night or daytime view, you get the idea) in a hammock. Though you don't interact with the staff as often as you would in a restaurant or typical wine bar, they were friendly and helpful in recommendations. I absolutely love everything about this place and will without a doubt be back when it opens next year. Definitely recommended to anyone who loves wines! Edit: I've since come back here for a movie screening for Sideways and dinner/wine pairing! It was a very enjoyable time and well curated. Both the food and the wines were delicious. Ok this place is 100000% awesome. It's not too crowded even on a Saturday afternoon...which is surprising for a rooftop. The problem with this place is....it's IN the navy yard. It's VERY hard to find....google map tells you one direction but you're not allowed to enter that way because....entering a navy yard is against the law. The THING is you get a ticket with a barcode and THAT is what you need to present to the security guard coming in from Sands st. And then you walk towards building 275 and there's Another security guard in front of the building and then he directs you to the doors and you climb 5 flights of stairs and there it is..... Never do these reviews, but went last week and had a good time and thought I'd contribute my 2 cents after seeing a couple recent negative reviews. Rooftop Reds is a great concept. Nice views, especially of Downtown Brooklyn and Commodore Barry Park, with glimpses of the Midtown Skyline in the other direction. Charming staff, outstanding tasting room manager, very knowledgeable with their wine, staff was attentive but not too attentive, good ambassadors for the burgeoning NY wine scene. Devin, the founder of Rooftop Reds, was there. Cool guy, very approachable, had a nice chat about the vines. Excellent wines, lots of different varietals to choose from, as a oenophile I was impressed. Fascinating layout with the vines, cornhole, hammocks, big screen for projecting films and currently the Olympics. Kind of quiet on a Wednesday evening, but I'm eager to go back on a weekend and check it out when it's more full. Small gripes: Would enjoy more food options although their weekend food pop ups look tasty and intriguing. I could see the winery being hard to find if one is unaware of the Brooklyn Navy Yard layout, but if one follows the directions, Sands St. entrance, walk straight down the road, bear right, it's in the back. The security guard was pleasant and helpful if you're unsure where to go. Perhaps a sign would help guide their visitors and promote their business. Yeah 4 flights of stairs, but come on, are we not New Yorkers? Walking's our thing! Walking a few flights of stairs won't kill you. Think of the wine as a reward for a very brief workout. Biggest gripe is a cork dork thing. I'd prefer they use stemware as opposed to the cups I'd more expect to drink my grandpa's homemade wine out of in his backyard. They're making and serving some lovely wine, I'd prefer a proper wine glass to get my swirl on which would really enhance the flavors and aromatics. Super cute rooftop in the navy yard. A little hard to find and reservations are required. Was waitlisted but a couple people canceled and we got in on a weekend. It wasn't busy and there were a few groups there but its large enough you can spread out and not be on each other. And they have hammocks! Definitely a cool spot to picnic. Staff was very friendly and I'll be back for a rooftop movie next month as long as weather cooperates! read more

Unlike anywhere I have been in Brooklyn's Brooklyn Reds is hidden I mean literally hidden. Getting here for the time is like entering a maze. Just to let you know the reward will be worth it. After being lost for about 10 minutes, my wife and I found Brooklyn Reds and made our way up 4 flights of stairs to the roof top. It is a park on a roof with endless wine. This was the first of my soon to be many trips here and I'm so happy to have discovered it pre summer. So relaxing with a decent view for the sunset. read more
