This is a bar close to our house we will frequent when we're too lazy to cook or there is a big game on. They have lots of TVs for sports games. Every time we have been in there's usually a crowd but we can find a table. They have a big patio which is really nice in the spring and summer months. All the wait staff are friendly and quick. Last time we came in we got the mini tacos, chi chi sandwich and buffalo chicken wrap. All were good and came out fast! read more

What a fun place to enjoy Sunday football. GPS took me straight there. When I was making my last turn in it looked like I was going to be going into an industrial district but it turns out the bar was in back tucked away with a nice large parking lot that wraps around it. Good thing because the restaurant is not only a bar but also has a giant heated smoking section on one side, bar in the middle and banquet hall on the other. Lots of options for group activities. I found my group and as soon as I was seating our waitress came out of nowhere asking what I was deii. I ordered a long island ice tea with the club and tater tots. TV wrapped the area with different games on each. There were families, and friends at tables, high tops and belly up to the bar. Lots of noise but nothing you wouldn't expect from this atmosphere. Service was okay.. I have no real complaints about the food it was all average. We did order "nachos" that are apparently just 15 individual chips with some buffalo chicken on them. It's a little pricey for what it is. We should've gotten wings as I've heard good things but we don't really make it this direction that often. Awesome place to catch a game , a few drinks with friends and some delicious food. Comfortable atmosphere with plenty of it TV's for viewing, full bar , kids friendly and an amazing patio area. The service was spot on and very friendly. Food was flavorful, fresh and delicious especially the J.D. burger I had , a delicious beef patty with pepper jack cheese, Jack Daniels sauce, onions and extra bacon served with hot crispy fries. The services honestly is hit and miss. Sometimes you stand at the bar for five minutes before you're greeted sometimes longer. Here's no host. You just walk in and sit. Fun atmosphere with football galore on a Saturday afternoon. The list of draft beers was out of date, so that caused a bit of consternation. Then, I ordered regular wings, but the Nashville Hot boneless wings they brought were so tasty I was happy they got my order wrong. And, yes, the chili really is quite good. Good patio dining with outside bar as well. A solid three stars leaning towards four. I would not hesitate to give Rookies another chance. read more

Service is as bad as it gets. Its been much better to go to the bar than wait for poor service at the table. Food runners are mystified about the food they are bringing; at best every trip to the table is an auction. Food is average. The food was excellent. But not sure if it is worth putting up with a waitress that was out and out hostile towards us. When our large group walked in she rolled her eyes and made a comment, not really under her breath, "oh my f'ing God". She constantly told us how we could make her job easier for her. When delivering our drinks she put the tray down and told us to pass them out. She was not passively hostile , it was in our face. When we asked for 3 checks she says, "this will be fun!" God forbid we ask her for anything, she rolled her eyes and sighed to show her displeasure with us. To be fair she was very busy. The place was packed. But to make your customers feel guilty for having the gall to come there to eat is not comfortable! read more

Can't go wrong with the food at rookies. Any choice you make from the menu will a hit. The service was quick and friendly as usual and your glass is never empty. Awful!! Went in for a burger cause we have been told it was good. Ordered 3. All burnt. First 2 were suppose to be medium with American and soft cheddar. One had no cheese burnt. The other had barely a teaspoon of cheese. Then ordered one with pepper jack medium rare was actually medium soft pink middle. All the food was gross. Never again and spent $30 should have went to McDonald's quality control is better and u know what you r getting. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AWFUL!! read more

Service was slow but the server was very apologetic. The cook forgot to make my sandwich. The grilled chicken sandwich was good but their french fries taste like Walmart Great Value frozen fries. They were awful and cold. Don't plan to go back for a while. read more

Rookie's has been here for many years, and I've always wanted to try it. The location is good, the building was new when they moved in, and the outside looked pleasant. The inside, however, was super-smoky, and the menus were greasy. The waitress was not pleasant, and we actually were told that we had to switch tables to get faster service. They had only five pretty typical beers on tap, and even ran out of one. My buffalo nachos were good, but the burgers were sub-par. The prices were about the same as in any bar. Several days ago, suffering from 'cabin fever', I took a drive west to St. Charles, MO. and had lunch at the newest Rookies Bar & Grill. Mike (the owner) has three locations; the original in North St. Louis County at 6825 Parker Rd. in Florissant, MO. a franchised location at 1544 S. Service Road Highwy 70 W in Wentzville, MO. and this one at 3721 New Town Blvd. in St. Charles, MO. Rookies Bar & Grill is not your typical Sports Bar for several reasons. Number one is the food! I don't consider Mike to be just a cook. He's a chef. Do you know of another Sports Bar & Grill that serves up mouth watering steaks? I'm talking about the Texans Strip - a N.Y. Strip Steak topped with Fresh Mushrooms, Onions & Peppers in Marsala Wine Sauce for $13.99. Just about everything on the menu has a sports related name and just about everything falls into a sports related category. Appetizers; or as Mike calls it "Pre-Game". There's Onion Rings, Poppers, Toasted Ravioli, and The Nine Yards: A combo platter of Chicken Tenders, Potato Skins and Nachos Grande for $6.99. Top of The Order - Salads: There's the Rookies Salad, the Ball Four, the Pinch Hitter and of course the Home Run. That's tossed greens with Blackened Chicken Strips, Mixed Italian Cheese, Egg, Tomatoes & Red Onion for $6.49. Probably enough for two. Third Round or sandwiches is among my favorites for lunch. Today I had Trevino's Favorite. That's a Blackened Chicken Breast coated with Cajun Spices, topped with Pepper Cheese served on French Bread with lettuce, tomato & a side of fries for $6.49. Beats anything you'll find at Steak 'N Shake. Rookies Bar & Grill also features daily lunch specials Mon. - Fri. You can dine in, or take it to go. Children are allowed as long as the kitchen is open. And, if I remember correctly, there is a Kid's Menu also. Don't worry about the kids over-hearing a bunch of foul-mouthed, pot-belly old drunks either. It's not that kind of place. Mike knows how to order the right food. More importantly, he knows how to prepare it correctly. He knows how to promote an atmosphere where all are welcome. Inside the St. Charles location, there are 5 smaller TVs inside and two on the patio. On the bar wall there are two WIDE Screen TVs. On the back wall is a mammoth BIG Screen. Come cheer on The Cards, The Blues, The Rams and the Mizzou Tigers. Non-drinkers: No one will ever scoff at you or pressure you into buying an alcoholic beverage. I can't drink anymore due to the medications I'm on. Coca-Cola is probably served here as much as beer. Rookies Bar & Grill rates a full 5 stars in my book. Rookies is pretty close to where I live, so I like to go there for their decently priced lunch specials. Rookies is an okay establishment. Their food is a good price and tastes alright. Of everything I've had there, their hot Buffalo wings are the best thing they serve. I don't know if the sauce is homemade, but it's the perfect blend of flavor and spice. The burgers and fries are mediocre. The meat never really tastes all that seasoned and gives the impression that the burgers were frozen not too long before being put on the grill. The fries, while always cooked fine, taste bland and lifeless. As for the ambiance, it's your typical sports bar. Sports memorabilia covers just about every inch of the walls. I would enjoy having a pitcher here and watching a game. The bathrooms are kinda gross and are covered with women in swimsuits, some see-through. It's a little tacky and doesn't really bother me, but I imagine some parents being concerned their kid might see something they didn't intend to. Overall, not a bad spot. Not amazing by any means, but it has enough to keep me coming back for a cheap meal. read more

Junior and I stopped into Rookies today after his soccer game. Rookies is a very typical sports bar located in a shopping center on New Town Boulevard. The walls are decorated with St. Louis sports memorabilia including Blues and Cards jerseys. The bar has multiple HD televisions that are viewable from pretty much any position you're facing. The tv's are very high quality. There is also a big-screen in the restaurant that unfortunately is not HD. Rookies has a large covered patio as well. The service was very good. Our waitress was affable and attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. The highlight of our visit to Rookies was the Golden Tee Miniature Golf arcade game. This thing is worth the price of admission alone! Jr. had a blast and played 27 holes of virtual miniature golf on the HD video game. Meanwhile I caught the 4th quarter of the Rams choke job while scarfing down a cajun chicken sandwich which was named the Trevino if I recall correctly. The sammich was pretty small and was served on a very standard hoagie roll but was still tasty and a generous side of crinkle fries was saddled up next to it. Rookies offers a fairly large menu for a sportsbar. The place was fairly smoky and full of beer drinking Rams fans so I didn't feel great about staying for too long with Junior. I knew what I was getting ourselves into though. As soon as the Rams choke was complete we ducked out of there. Rookies seemed to be an excellent place to catch a game and some beers after work or a softball game. Probably not the greatest choice if you're looking for a family friendly environment but then again there are worse places we could've gone too. read more

It would be wise of you to eat in at Rookies and not choose to order carry out. They seem to use all the lettuce in a salad and it something is overcooked like tater tots they just package it up knowing you most likely not see things like this until you get back to work or home. The food is amazing! The place can get crowded easily on a Friday or Saturday night, so those days service may take a little longer. But their drinks are amazing and the bartenders and servers are very friendly! This place is great to bring along a group, couple friends, or a date. They also provide big screen TVs to watch a sports game, and a small hidden game room for kids. read more

Ordered about 13 or 14 meals for company lunch on a Friday. We called on Thursday to see if we should submit the order then, or wait until opening on Friday; we were advised to do the latter. Called in the order by phone with a printed list of all orders in front of us. Rookies managed to drop about 3 of the orders, screw up a couple of others, and left off salads on the orders that had them. When we contacted the restaurant, they advised that we should have submitted the order on Thursday. No compensation offered for our troubles in having to go back for corrections. We will be scratching this establishment off of our "go-to" list for company lunch orders. read more
