    Deviled Eggs

Stopped in during the day for happy hour (11-6 during the weekdays!) and J was our bartender. She was great! Played great music, the deviled eggs were delicious and drinks were excellent. There was a live band setting up before we left. What a cute place and vibe. Can't wait to come back!

Phenomenal! My good friend Cindy and I drove along Riverside Drive looking for a nice patio or deck to have brunch. We stumbled upon The Midwestern Main Street, grabbed the last parking spot and went in to check it out. The placard out front advertised the brunch specials that had us excited to go in. We were greeted right away and taken to the back deck overlooking the river on this beautiful sunny Saturday. As we were walking back, we passed the teeny tiny little kitchen just as the chef put up the most amazing looking chicken and waffles I've seen in a while. The chicken looked perfectly fried, crunchy and glistening with hot honey on a fluffy Belgian waffle. I thought that was what I was going to order until I saw the Southern Benedict on the menu. The same crunchy fried chicken on top of a biscuit and served with sausage gravy, buffalo sauce and breakfast potatoes. Yes, please! I asked for the chicken to be drizzled with the hot honey and that was the right move - it was so savory and delicious , I ate entire thing. LOL! I don't normally eat hashbrowns or breakfast potatoes, but these breakfast potatoes were really really good. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside topped with flaky salt. Definitely worth getting ...nothing is an afterthought here, everything is made with care. I almost forgot to mention, for starters we had the deviled eggs and they were topped with candied bacon. These were absolutely amazing and I will get them every single time. We are really looking forward to coming back and trying the smash burgers which are on special from 2 to 5 PM. I think we're going back tomorrow night! :) I can already tell you this is going to be a regular on my rotation for brunch and lunch and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I know my son and fiancé are going to love this place as well . This small kitchen is pumping out some superior pub grub. Congrats to the Chef and welcome to St. Charles! We're so happy you're here.

The French onion soup was amazing! As close as I recall the original Famous Barr restaurant soup was years ago. The salad was ok. Don't know why they chose to purée the butternut squash after roasting it, but that I think would've been better having the roasted bite with the beats. But the southern fried chicken sandwich was delicious. Highly recommend. And the Service was great.

The server was very knowledgeable about all things on the menu presented us with the off menu specials for the night information over everything offered with it. It was wonderful. They have great wine selections. Great beer selections very impressed with everything. The only negative was this was my cheat meal and I got the chicken Alfredo and the pasta was not very flavorful. The chicken was prepared nicely. It was grilled it was delicious. I was expecting maybe a little bit more flavor to the chicken which could've helped with the pasta, but the pasta was very bland. Other than that, I loved everything and I will be back to try other things on the menu

However, there are some standard issues. Service is spotty at best often leaning toward flat out rude. The side salad is awful, but the cessation delicious. The potato soup is terrible and flavorless and there have been few times this has not been the case. Today however, I ordered my usual and genuinely enjoyed it. My dining partner ordered a BLT and potato soup. The person who dropped off the food was flat out rude and didn't want to be bothered. Our waiter, John S was terrible. It was brought to his attention that the soup was ice cold and the BLT was on toasted bread when specifically it had been requested that it not be. It took less than two minutes for him to "fix" it which meant nuking the soup and loading it with cheese which hadn't been in the original bowl and it had too much cheese and as always was gross. The BLT he took the top bread off and replaced the top with non toasted bread and left the bottom toasted. It was not made correctly and he knew it. An entire bowl of soup was left and not once did he ask if we'd like to take it to go, or offer drink refills. He was terrible! The ambience of the place is always nice but the greeters are equally unfriendly on most occasions. It's a shame because their main menu of steaks is delicious but I don't go as often as I used to because staff does not know how to perform even mildly courteous customer service. This visit was substandard in many ways and we left very unhappy with the service received and one person still hungry. For a nice restaurant that charges what they do, I would think they would want to perform better.

The food was very very good. Love farm to table and this place delivers that with elegance. I highly recommend this place for a nice night out. The prices reflect the quality you get. The 38$ pork chop I ordered was excellent and a lot of food! They handled a group of 12 very well. And from experience I know not a lot of places can pull it off but this place did with grace. I was looking to "book" a private dining room in a restaurant that I thought might be good. I've now booked with another local restaurant. A place that has humans who will speak with a person when he or she calls. I suppose they must have all the business they need?
