Really enjoyed my lunch here today. Stopped in based on other favorable Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. The service was very friendly and the food and drinks were excellent. The Falafel Sliders were outstanding. The Falafel were as good if not better than any I have had in good Middle Eastern restaurants. They were crispy on the outside and tasty creamy inside. The vegetables that came with the Sliders were fresh and crispy. My Pan Seared Cod with Baby Clams and Chorizo Sausage was perfectly cooked and the butter broth was delicious. I only wish there was more bread to sop up all that goodness. The Salmon with Soy Ginger was also a hit. The cabbage slaw and Brussel Sprout Noodles were a healthy base for the fish. Comfortable environment. Family friendly. My waitress said I could sit wherever I liked. She had a cheery personality. I was given a glass of water, place settings, and she shared her name. I knew what I wanted to eat, and ordered. Crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries, and pork belly bites with spicy bbq sauce. It all came out at the same time smelling and looking great. Although we've eaten here several times before it had been quite some time, in fact, a few years since our last visit. We were in the mood for a few beers and a quick early dinner. We decided to give it a try tonight. Dining room is louder than I remember but that did not thwart us. Ordered fish & chips and what came to the table was overcooked and inedible. Cole slaw that came with tasted off as well. Waitress was very apologetic and had manager take it off our bill. Hubs had Mahi Mahi that was "ok" and I ordered wings as a replacement for dish that was sent back. Wings were just ok as well and seemed to be reheated/not totally hot versus freshly prepared. Had lunch here today with my son and daughter-in-law and thoroughly enjoyed it. We got there when it first opened so felt comfortable sitting inside, but they also have an outside seating area. My son ordered the hangover burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. We all tasted his fries, and they weren't crunchy enough for my taste, but I noticed they all got eaten. DIL and I shared four things from the appetizer menu and enjoyed them all. Our favorite was the burrata. The bacon-wrapped asparagus was served warm, and it went so well with the cheese. The coconut shrimp had a great texture, and we both liked the sauce that came with it. The short rib tacos were excellent, with a larger portion of meat than I was expecting. We finished with the beet salad, which was slightly sweet, so a nice end to the meal. It was my first time eating here, and I will be back. read more

Went to Roots on a rainy Saturday afternoon,so unfortunately missed the beautiful outdoor seating they have. Once inside we were seated immediately (two of only maybe 6-7 guests), but the service still took a little while. We order a beer and "Light and Stormy" Cocktail to start, which was actually pretty darn good! For food, however, since it was our first time we decided to go with their coconut shrimp appetizer that was on special. For $12 there were 8 (fairly small) pieces of shrimp that, while decent in taste (the dipping sauce was pretty dang good!) did not make us feel like we got a good value out of their "special." To be honest, Bahama Breeze does 'em better. The main course was another story. Pub burger was great, well cooked, and the Fried Chicken dish was awesome! Three large pieces of chicken with maple syrup dipping sauce (which i added some hot sauce to) and a waffle made out of Mac and cheese! Yes, Home made Mac and cheese put into a waffle iron... yeeeeaaahhh.... (: Also came with fries, but was pretty spent by that point. Overall, was a good dining experience and the price wasn't too bad (especially compared to king of prussia nearby). $76 incl tip for two people with appetizers and drinks. Found Roots with a yelp search when we didn't feel like cooking on a Friday night. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We were a little disappointed in the service. My salad arrived immediately and then our entrees, which would be fine, except we ordered an appetizer of coconut shrimp to share, which we had to ask for. The kitchen corrected and served it immediately. The shrimp were delicious, 7 large shrimp with a great coconut sauce for just $14. Overall the food was very tasty, the service good, the kitchen obviously busy. The only real complaint was the noise, but it was lively and fun to people watch. My brother first took me to Roots in 2018 and I've enjoyed it ever since! We take our parents whenever they're in town. We went and ate in on a Saturday and it was completely empty, we were surprised but I guess we shouldn't have been with COVID. We felt comfortable as we wore our masks along with the waitress. We always get the dippy plate as an appetizer but opted for the calamari this time and we will definitely get it again! The sauce was delicious and it was lightly fried, not too crunchy, over cooked or anything. We almost always get the Pub Burger but this time I added bacon (quality choice). Their burgers never disappoint. This was the first time some of the fries were a little overdone but I'm still giving them 5 stars because we've gone so much and love it. Stopped in on a Sunday morning for some breakfast from their brunch menu. We were seated right away, but right around noon, it became immediately packed (nearby church just let out?) We started with water and a coffee, which was good. I ordered the 5 Cheese and Bacon Grilled Cheese, requesting the bacon on the side. It tasted really great, although I think it'd be a little better if they shredded the basil instead of having one whole leaf chilling on half of the grilled cheese, while the other half remained basilless. I also had a dollar pancake, and I actually thought their pancakes tasted really good and not too heavy. Unfortunately, they would not substitute a pancake with French toast on the Gups Whale for my boyfriend, so he ordered Eggs Any Style with the French Toast Straight Up. His meal was good and the French toast was really good, although the French toast would be better complemented with a small side of homefries or meat. Service was great until we were trying to pay and leave at the end. They also brought out my grilled cheese with the bacon touching it (I'd asked them to separate the two) and they did forget the butter for my pancake although they brought it upon request. In this world of short staffed restaurants we were served and the food was just as described in our menus. I had a mundane fish and chips. I really liked Guppy's so when it was changed ownership I was very skeptic. Now that I've tried several things on the menu and I'm convinced that I did not lose Guppy's, but gained Roots. Here are my favorites: Seared Peppered Tuna Appetizer - 4.5 stars. Slices Ahi Tuna in a bed of avocado mousse, topped with fresh shoots. Perfect app with a cold one. Short Rib tacos - 4 stars. Very nice flavors. Another perfect little bites to go with a nice local beer. The only star off was one time the veggie was not as fresh as other times. Salmon tacos - 4 stars. Well you see, I had the world's best Salmon taco when it was Guppy's. This was close. I hope the perfect salmon tacos would come back. Arugula salad - 5 stars. Love the smell of local fresh vegetables. The vinaigrette dressing was delicious. A side note, I had the Salmon Tacos and arugula salad as a the lunch special, which was pick 2 for $10 from the list. Perfect lunch portion. Highly recommended. Ahi Tuna Wrap - 5 stars. They really know how to sear Ahi tuna perfectly. With avocado, lettuce and cucumber, the wrap is light, refreshing, yet full of taste. My favorite from Roots. Hangover Burger - 5 stars. The definition of comfort food. Juicy, tender and cooked perfectly as ordered. The sauces have wonderful flavors. Meatball sliders - 5 stars. My go-to quick bite. It's surprising a little jam and basil could make mini burgers taste so much better! Beer selections - About 10 -12 taps on rotation that cover all styles. Mostly local, micro brews. Always a win. I recognized some staff from when the place was Guppy's. Very friendly, but now even more energetic. Avi's super friendliness and high energy must be contagious! Came here on a Tuesday for dinner and the place was nice and clean. First thing we noticed after being seated is the vents from the air condition are blowing down directly in the row against the wall. It was very drafty, cold and uncomfortable even though the places décor seemed nice. We had to button up our tops and jackets. We ordered: Shared the appetizers and one burger with fries. Crispy Calamari- they where good and light. Honey Bay Wing Bites- the chicken was good but there was something off on the sauce on top of them besides being to sweet, it had a bad side taste to it. Blue cheese dressing was ok. . Pub Burger- had a good flavor and was cooked right like we ordered medium the bun was also very soft. It came with French fries which arrived cold and soggy I guess it comes from the vessel that they put them in a little bucket, looks nice but makes them soggy since they are piled into them. They should consider removing this from their presentation. We let the waitress know that they where soggy and cold, received a new batch with the same issue they just get soggy period. We like our fries warm and crispy. We never received our ketchup that we asked for had to get it from another table ourselves. This is the biggest issue I have with" Roots" they have a good beer menu and offer cocktails and wine and they are all listed on the menu in the restaurant and online. Where is the menu for NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS????? They do not let their patrons know about what they have to offer is it Coke is it Pepsi? Do they have lemonade or Ice tea??? I checked online as well they do not even list any non-alcoholic drinks. WTH seriously you should consider adding these onto your menu as I can tell you this is not very customer service friendly. I don't favor having to ask for what you have on non-alcoholic drinks I get you sell beer I can see that by your long nice bar etc. They do have a nice side outside seating area with plenty of seating that we will try out. Overall the atmosphere is nice the service needs to be a little more attentive and follow up on your patrons especially bring the ketchup if someone asks for it please. Food is good with little tweaks it will be better. On a side note ROOTS should consider updating their computers to reflect the actual name of the restaurant!!! Came here the other day for a friends birthday. We had a group of about 8 and sat outside. The outdoor seating is great, not a ton of outdoor options in that area. We had drinks, followed by appetizers and dinner. The dippy plate was great! As was the meatball sliders; but I think my favorite was the goat cheese crostini. The appetizers were small, so difficult to share with a group our size, but so worth it. I got the chicken parm for dinner which was a special entree that night. This picture doesn't do it justice - it was HUGE! It was great, overboard on the cheese which I love, the edges were a bit dry, but not terrible. Twas the night after Christmas and nobody felt like cooking. So,, my husband and I decided to try something new. We decided on Roots and MY, OH, MY are we glad we did! We ordered takeout because... COVID. The food was ready on time and the staff was friendly. We got guacamole dip for an appetizer. It came with fresh-made chips and was light and creamy. It had a bit more lime than I'm used to but still quite tasty. I had the short ribs grilled cheese which was incredible. The short ribs, red onions and cheddar cheese melted in my mouth and the bread was buttery and soft with a crispy crust. Delicious! My husband had the crab cake sandwich with chipotle tartar sauce which he said was also amazing. The fries were good but had gotten a little cold on the ride home. I can imagine that this incredible meal would have been even better had we been able to dine-in (which we plan to do post-COVID). If you haven't tried Roots, do it now! I was in town and craving a burger. I chose this place because the burger on yelp looked good. Service-terrible. I sat at the bar because I was solo, two people looked at me, one of them right in from of me at the the bar with a handful of glasses, and went straight to the locals they knew. It took awhile for someone to come over and get me a drink. Same thing when trying to order. I had to get a menu from the couple next to me and no one seemed concerned about coming to my end of the bar to get my order. A girl dropped off my food and dashed before I could ask for some mayo and Mustard for my burger- they charged my $.50 each for them. Really you charged me for condiments? After the bartender took my plate I thought he would bring me the check-nope. I kept trying to get someones attention- he was with the people he knew at the other end of the bar. roots has quickly become one of my favorite local spots to dine out... great chill vibe, frquently rotating craft beer selection, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients keep the menu interesting. everything from the steak frites to the soy ginger salmon to the buffalo chicken sandwich has been fantastic. they had a crab cake app special which was super yummy, and the seared tuna sandwich was unique and delicious. the meatballs in the pasta w/ meatballs dish are crazy tasty (the sauce is on the sweet side, which some folks might not like, but i did).and omg the short rib grilled cheese! chocolate empanda dessert is sinfully sweet, with vanilla ice cream. there honestly hasn't been a dish here that i didn't like. the vibe is low-key enough for a relaxing weeknight dinner, but nice enough to bring the in-laws, too. the staff has always been friendly and welcoming (and patient and inforative, since i can never seem to make up my mind about what i want to eat and need suggestions!) i can't wait to dine outside on the patio once the weather improves a bit, and i'm also hoping to venture over for brunch one of these days (did someone say bloody mary bar?) read more
