Steak Ranchero, Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns (Well Done)

Happy to have a classic style diner in Oak View. Very clean. Love the Johnny Cash theme as he's a big part of our area. The staff were excellent. The owners were present which is always a plus. I always had a full cup of coffee because the staff were so attentive. What I ordered was different than what I expected, it was more of a stewed steak and eggs meal. The meal was actually better than what I thought I was getting. I always ask for well done hash browns, they nailed it. The biscuit that came with it was huge and fluffy. This restaurant is a California throwback to simpler times, great staff who are friendly and where you can expect a diner style setting and solid meal. Great stop for after a walk, run, bike ride. You get a lot of food for your money. Very happy we have this restaurant in Oak View!

Wow! What an unexpected gem in Oak View! We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday around 8am and it quickly got busy as we left. Super friendly staff, very clean inside but yet it still has that old school diner feel. And the food is delicious! We ordered the ABC omelet and the lemon pancakes, both of which were so so good! Skip Ojai and come here for breakfast instead!

I can't say enough how impressed I am with this place in so many ways. To start the food is delicious and very well priced. I ordered a tuna melt and it came out quickly and very hot. The service was wonderful and the ambiance is so cozy and inviting. Tons of Johnny Cash pictures on the walls tie in with the town. Lastly the owner is delightful and really gets to know and connect with his customers. I will be back for sure! 20/10

Not open after 2:30 pm. The cheeseburger was good, but a little messy. Iced tea and Arnold Palmer were ample.

The space is small but full of light, and it feels cozy in a way that makes you want to linger without feeling squished. The owners are genuinely kind. I asked about "The Goodfella" specialty drink and they explained it without a hint of coffee snob energy. We love knowledgeable and approachable. Also... they bring your drink to you while you're waiting. I appreciate this so much. It's such a small thing but it feels thoughtful. There's a solid lineup of fresh baked pastries if you need a little treat moment. And the message on the cups just makes you smile. It feels intentional in a quiet way, not performative. Can't wait to return. And parking is easy, which honestly seals the deal.

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.

I was poisoned there with food that I am allergic to by a spiteful employee. Management not only never apologized, they never did anything. The results were lab tested. This seriously addicting coffee shop, which started in Santa Barbara, has been a Ventura favorite for quite some time now, and it's been so fun watching them grow. Nestled in a charming converted cottage, this cozy café is the perfect addition to Downtown Ventura. When I stopped by over the weekend, they were insanely busy so I wasn't able to capture much of the space itself for photos but I can promise you it's a cute spot. We opted for outside table dining and it was lovely. To order you stand in line and then order at the counter, they'll bring the food back to your table, but they will call you up to grab your drinks. We ordered a couple of iced lattes and their famous Bella Rose - iced matcha, which was absolutely gorgeous and just as delicious. 10/10. Their drinks are truly little works of art and always worth ordering. To finish off brunch, we grabbed a couple of bagels. One of my favorites is their toasted bagel with tomato, avocado, and cream cheese, it's simple and so satisfying. Next time I'll be trying one of their fruit bowls. The staff here are absolute rockstars. They crank out drink after drink with a smile on their faces while keeping the atmosphere welcoming and fun. We always love stopping by, and if you haven't been yet, consider this your sign to check them out and support a fantastic local business.
