I went here a few weeks ago and walking in the place was empty and definitely needs an updated appearance on the inside. I went to order my food and I noticed the price that I was charged wasn't the price that was on the menu and I was told that the menu prices had went up. I ordered Hot links with greens and yams and I asked for the bbq to be on the side, the price was $17. The hot links and yams was good but the greens had a weird taste to them. The hot links definitely were boiled not smoked. I am not sure I would return because just for that price I didn't really think the food was worth it. The potatoes were the stand out winners today. Specials of the day and you can understand why. Rosako has figured out a way to make these potatoes unlike any other you've tasted. His meats are perfectly smoked and his potato is so...buttery. I also loved the thanksgiving 365. The stuffing waffle was...amazing. The collards and mac and cheese were nothing spectacular; while still delicious, I have had better. The ambience isn't anything to write home about, clean enough and you can tell people come for the food, not the atmosphere. Having seen this I decided to stop by since I love bbq and especially sausage. I eat it everywhere. Got there right when it opened. On a Friday. Got half pound of brisket and sausage link. The owner was very nice and helpful. The place is small but.clean just off harwood. I found the brisket to be chewy and hard to eat. They put their bbq sauce on it so it was hard to get the taste. The sauce was very thick and sweet. The sausage was plump and tender but lacked that special sausage taste. It's not one I would recommend. Now it could have been a leftover brisket as I was the first customer but then it should not have been served. Especially since I told him I had never been the before. So, there's a full great menu of things, but they were out. Of everything but beef tips and got links. It was 330pm and we were told on the phone call that they are running out or short of everything. The list on the wall doesn't specify foods that weren't cooked on today. I was told "we didn't cook that today a lot. I'm not sure why waffles we're out and pork chops. I could just be mad. The pictures look amazing and, those beans and beef tips are mouthwatering. The bbq was good but the fries were awful. The service was not good. The employees, I believe one was the owner, did not even acknowledge that I was there. They did not even say we will be with you soon. I had to go to the counter and ask for my order after waiting for the employees to stop talking to two other customers that finally ordered. I ordered online and received a text that my order was ready. When I arrived it was NOT ready. I waited for over 20 minutes to pick up an online order. We took a chance and tried a new place for us at least. We wanted BBQ and others wanted soul food. Rosako's is an old Taco Bell building they turned into a BBQ place with Soul Food. I like how they are using an otherwise empty building. We all got the same thing ribs tips and hot links. The food came out very hot and you get a lot for the price. The ribs tips are just cut up ribs they were very chewy and tough the hot links were fine. The BBQ sauce was sweet and thick okay for me. The meal only comes with fries. I did not like that you should get to pick your side it is extra for another side. We did share a Mac and cheese I like that very much the best thing I had. I got the Regular size order that is enough of 2 people. Don't get the large unless you want a lot of food. The drinks are bottle sodas and the water they charge for a cup and it tasted very funny. I walked in to get lunch at 12:30 on a Wednesday, and was so excited because Rosako's has been so highly acclaimed for their soul food. Imagine my disappointment when I tried to order the fabled Rib Tips and there were none available. In fact, most of the items I tried to order from the menu were not available. I finally settled for "Turkey Tips" which ended up being a massive order of cubed turkey breast with barbecue sauce. For sides, I got the fried okra and candied yams. The sides were both excellent - the okra was hot, fresh, and fried nice and crispy. The unadorned candied yams were tasty and delicious - no need for marshmallows with these! The turkey was OK. It didn't have any smoky flavor and could have been sliced off of a store bought turkey breast. In all fairness, this locally owned restaurant has to have taken a tough hit during the pandemic. And the owner has done so much for the community with feeding the hungry - plus he has a special "pay it forward" program for hungry veterans. Still, wouldn't it make sense to try to keep the "signature" specialties on hand? The restaurant itself was not open to dining in - just takeout and curbside delivery. The state of cleanliness in the area where the dining tables would be was not the best - likely due to lack of help. In summary, my lunch experience here was "ok," if disappointing. I'm going to return soon to see if I can get some of the elusive Rib Tips. I'll update my review at that time. read more

i went at approximately 3pm on a thursday, it wasnt super busy but did pick up towards the end. the service was very pleasant and outside the restaurant it smelled so good and smokey! for food, i got cabbage, mac and cheese, and chicken drumstick/thigh. it was really good! i wish there was a bit more salt on the cabbage and mac and cheese, i also just really like salt though. the barbecue sauce on the meat was super yummy too, not too much vinegar taste! overall, i would 100% go back and have again :) read more

I had the chopped brisket sandwich with macaroni and my boyfriend had the loaded baked potato with brisket and sausage and we had a side of banana pudding. My visit yesterday was much more pleasant than from a year ago. They are now allowing indoor dining. Rosako wasn't there yesterday, but there were several upbeat people working in the kitchen. There were also some patrons dining in. I came only for greens to add to the meal I cooked at home. Last year, I could've swore I was served canned greens. But yesterday what I got were some spicy, tangy, tender and flavorful greens! I was a bit upset at the price- $15 after tax for the large greens, but after I took a bite. Omg. The pepper flakes that you see in the pic were added by me, but I still couldn't eat it after dressing it up. Also, ordered a peach cobbler that was...okay. Rosako (the owner) and Big Al have outdone themselves. They deserve all the success that the restaurant has brought them over the past four years. The food from top to bottom is excellent. You can't go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu. My mom had the lemon cake and I'm not a fan of lemon cake at all and it was moist, fresh, and flavorful. That lemon cake was something that all other lemon cakes aspire to be. My three meat plate and sides were so good that it made me lose my manners in public, by that I mean once I had the first bite, i threw etiquette out the window and dove right in. I didn't care that my hands and face were covered in sauce. May be the most cost efficient restaurant I've discovered in some time. They do not short you on the amount of food you get, it's definitely more than 1 person can eat. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We read all the reviews so we got there right at noon and we were the first to order. Ordered the 3 meat plate, turkey tips, pulled pork and rib tips with macaroni and cheese and fried okra for $15.99. We also ordered the yams and collard greens on the side. Everything and I mean everything was excellent. Even the dang sweet tea was awesome. Hubby ordered some lemon cake to go and wolfed it down in 2 minutes. It was so fluffy and tart. Seriously everything we tried was exceptional. I couldn't recommend this place any higher. The portions are huge, we shared the one plate and brought home enough for dinner. It was seriously the best soul food/bbq that I have ever eaten. The only complaint, and not really a complaint as much as a note, they didn't have the banana pudding and after reading the reviews I was dying to try it. The sweet BBQ sauce is a 10 out of 10. I ordered the rib tips with 2 sides (About $16), brisket stuff baked potatoe (about $18) and stuff turkey leg (about $28). The turkey leg was stuffed with mac-n- cheese topped with brisket. I ate on it for 3 days. Not sure if I'll buy it again. Mac-n- cheese was average. The food was very heavy. Definitely carb overload. I visited today and purchased a rib plate and hot links. The guy asked if we wanted small hotlink or large. We said small. The menu says the small hot link comes with fries and it's $8.99. My order came out to $47. I asked to see my receip. He printed out the credit card receip. I asked for the receipt with a breakdown of my purchase. I saw that I was charged $16.99 for a 2 meat 2 veggies plate. I told him we thought it was $8.99 he tells us the prices changed. I said so you just gave us double hot links and double fries. He didn't even tell me when I was purchasing that price changed. Or that I was purchasing double hot links and double fries and if that's the case why ask if I want a small or large. Also if that's the case why not let me know then that the small wasn't available. but I was able yo purchase a small plate on DoorDash for $8.99. I got my money back. So a group of us came here to try a restaurant that none of us had been to. While the reviews are banging on Yelp, I unfortunately do not think the food lived up to the hype. I ordered the rib tips and hotlink platter (which seemed to be everyone's choice), and the food did come out pretty quickly. While the sausage was tasty, the ribs were a bit tough and were just ok...more fat than meat. The sauce that was available seemed like store-bought, which seems like a missed opportunity for a BBQ restaurant. The mac and cheese was delicious and the french fries were good. Definitely one of the worst parts of our experience was the water...something is seriously wrong with their filter system, and the water tasted....moldy. I immediately bought a soda to compensate for the awful taste of the water. And when the water supply of a restaurant is suspect, I start to worry about the food itself. Please fix this soon. I am so on the fence about this review. Let me just say there was precovid Rosako's and post Covid. And then there is now. Precovid, you could find the restaurant entirely by its delicious smells. And the food matched the smells- 5 stars always. I always ordered what was the best jerk chicken ever, accompanied by the black eyed pea salad. I know the owner had a rough time with his own personal recovery so I was so glad they made it through covid. Unfortunately, post covid, this has been a struggle bus. The few times that they did actually have the jerk chicken, it tasted so different. Now, the place is dingy, dirty and operates as a Toogoodtogo meal distribution center. I get it- this probably cuts a lot of the overhead involved in offering a full menu and I'm happy for them for finding a way to survive. Unfortunately, it has wiped out whatever was left of the original Rosakos. I hope they clean up the kitchen and make it through whatever hardship is causing them to go this route so they can bring back the Thanksgiving plate and the best jerk chicken in the world. read more
