Perhaps I shouldn't use mole to judge "Mexican" restaurant but I do. I could emphasize the salsa or the rice and beans but to me it all comes back to mole. And, let's just say "meh!" As I spoke with my son-in-law about my dinner he said that both he and my daughter had tried the mole before ... disappointed. So, perhaps the fact that we were eating at this Mexican restaurant near their home and they previously were disappointed in the mole and no indicates that this is not that bad of a place. Think middle of the road chain restaurant with great party vibes. The chips were average and the salsa mild but tasty (We requested salsa verde three times and never received any despite getting three baskets of chips thanks to my grandson.). Now earlier I said that I could focus on the rice and beans to test Mexican restaurants, which I don't do, but the rice and black beans at Rosalita's are really good. I could probably enjoy an entree of them. Looking around at everyone else and satisfaction was evident. Maybe it was the huge glass of water but I think the good proportions of decent tasting food was the reason why we left happy. Good, not great. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, Birria tacos special and a chicken burrito. First off, they brought the appetizer out w the entrees. Am I supposed to eat the nachos and let the tacos get cold or vice versa? So no matter how you slice it, the nachos were soggy before we could even come close to finishing them. My daughter did not like her burrito, she said the meat was weird. My Birria tacos were ok at best. I won't say I'll never eat them again but if I'm in the area of an authentic Mexican restaurant, I def won't be coming to Rositas. Rosalitas has become a family favorite. We visit here often. Mexican food has the ability to check all the boxes for diversity in taste. Vegan, vegetarian, and meat eaters of all ages are welcome and have a variety of options on the menu. 1) Food has all the normal Mexican fanfare. Everything is authentic and freshly made. Hence no quick reheats of food. This matters as when you go out for meals you should get authenticity, not fast food. 2) Service - this can be hit or miss. Due to Covid and lack of good help, the location is short staff. We were placed in our booth, with no utensils. Food arrived but I had to ask them for frocks and knives (otherwise we are eating with our bare hands!). A second time we had no one arrive to check in on us for 15 min. Hence the 4 star rating. 3) Ambiance - the design of the restaurant is nicely done. Not to overbearing but enough to feel the Mexican heritage. It's not as loud with Flair as a TGIFridays, but enough to see they define have a style. All in all, definite worth going to for the food, but be ready for some service issues. read more

Pretty good Tex-Mex joint in Brick NJ. We are from Northern Jersey, and our Tex-Mex used to be Jose Tejas before they dropped their standards totally. We tried this place recently and my BiL and SiL have come here many times raving about it. We had a fiesta the last time that we ordered! We got a little bit of everything haha! I will note that the 1 thing that I didn't like was that if you want take out, you HAVE to order online, and you have to use a CC... I'm a cash is king guy... We got a chicken Quesadillas as well as a cheese one. Both were flavorful and full! Highly recommend! I got the steak and salmon fajitas, and i added on EVERYTHING haha! I added on shrimp, puled pork, and grilled chicken. My favorite was the Steak, so juicy and tender still, and a great flavor! Pulled pork was number 2, again juicy and really great flavor! Chicken was decent enough! Salmon was overcooked, but hey i did bring it home... I do not hold it against them, but it needed some more flavor! Shrimp was ok as well, small shrimp are hit and miss, it was a tad bit rubbery for me, but that is probably due to it traveling... I was not a fan of the flavor of the street corn! Chips and guac were great, but I don't think they were worth the price... We got 2 different burritos, and both said it was amazing! We also got 2 orders of garlic shrimp, which was tasty, but not spicy enough. It needed more zing! I would love to go and sit there and eat for dinner once! All in all a great restaurant! Spotted this on the way home from Atlantic City after I stopped at Costco. Overall, I had a great experience the service was quick. the waitress is great and I got the biggest glass of iced tea I've ever seen in my life! They had a great happy hour going on, so we got a basket of fried shrimp for $10 and platter of Guacamole salsa and queso for $7 . They had drink specials too, but I don't drink alcohol, but they looked good. I ordered the fajita with shrimp, salmon, and steak . The shrimp and salmon were really good and the steak was pretty good to except I felt it was a little on the salty side otherwise it was good dish. We had a great Sunday experience today. We were sat at a high top in the bar area with Camila who was so friendly and accommodating. We had the stuffed jalapeños with chorizo that were incredible and both got enchiladas that tasted amazing too. Wow. Ok I didn't get rotten food, I wasn't treated poorly but trying to eat the leftovers for lunch today, I'm reminded of how LAME this place is. Decor. Ok think about a TGI Friday's decorator who only lasted two weeks on the job. Fired, he goes on a bender. About three months later, when wet-brain is starting to set in, he lands a job decorating this place... and still suffering a horrible hangover manages to phone it in even worse than his performance at TGI that got him fired in the first place. Kinda looks like it's going out of business and had to sell off everything of value and the stuff on the walls is what didn't go at auction. Drinks. First off, the zygote 'bartender' couldn't manage a captain and coke, made a jack for my wife and she HATES bourbon. Then, informed they didn't have captain (at a major restaurant. really.) they substituted the bottom-rack Admiral spiced... and the kid wound up screwing THAT up too. Undrinkable. The chips and salsa are the only reason I'd like to give them 1.5, but that's not an option and it wasn't the chips, the salsa was nice. The dinners. The meat was overdone and questionable. Spices were light and BWC (basic white consumer) friendly, in other words they were basically unflavored. The mole should have been called 'raisin sauce' and the meat in the enchiladas was grey and definitely not a good grade. Service. The people there were nice and friendly, I'll say that for sure. But a little overbearing. Worst was the teenager/bartender who pounced on us the second our food runner left and we managed to take a bite. Both of us, simultaneously ambushed with a "how is your food". Literally before you could taste it. Overall, a 1.5 star, and only for the salsa. I would never waste my time here, especially when there are SO many awesome local Mexican restaurants around. Not worth the calories. read more

For a city of this many people, it's mostly chain restaurants, which are usually mediocre at best. Rosalita's fits into this mold. Service was great. Our server Maria was on the ball and very friendly and helpful. Chips and salsa- pretty good. Neither tasted fresh or homemade though. But you can't t knock something that's free. Water is served in a HUGE cup. Which is great, because you never have to ask for a refill. Spicy blood orange margarita was legit! They use fresh juice so it wasn't artificially sweet like most restaurants who use mixers make. Flavor was on point but a weak pour (as to be expected). Queso dip- just ok. Better than the stuff in a jar but worse than what you'd expect from a restaurant. Mexican street corn- literally the WORST I've ever had. It was so overcooked and mushy with the tiniest little kernels of corn. It only had butter, spicE powder and a dusting of cotija that reminded me more of Parmesan cheese. Never getting that again! Mixed enchiladas were the best part of the meal. Generous portion and great taste. Lots of cheese and sauce. Recommend! Chicken fajitas were good according to my dad, but I didn't try so no comment. Chile relleno was delicious. Lots of cheese. Sauce was bland but the rest of the flavors picked up the tab. A slight spicy kick! Rice was unremarkable. Black beans delish. Overall a decent meal. I've been coming here for years. Long before the Brick location opened. This newer one is closer to my house and it's conveniently located with plenty of parking. I almost exclusively used to come for Taco Tuesday and the (year round) watermelon margaritas. They did stop TT last year for a period of time. They finally reestablished it a few months ago but not without raising the price $3 which kinda sucks. I know, what's three extra bucks, right? I can typically (comfortably) eat 4, sometimes 5, but at $3.75 a taco, it doesn't feel like such a great deal anymore. Now, I kinda feel obligated to eat like at least 6. Lol! Anyway, the service is usually pretty good now. The margaritas are pretty good but occasionally hit & miss at the Brick location. The food is always good. I usually leave with a smile. If you haven't tried Rosie's yet, definitely give it a shot! read more

I had really high expectations for Rosalitas. I was really hoping it was like a Chevys or a Jose Tejas. Really lively with great music and staff that just make you want to get up and do the salsa, meringue, tango, or cha cha. First off, the place is smaller than expected. It was cute! I loved the decor inside, just like a roadside fiesta lol The hostess was a little blah (maybe she was exhausted ‍). I was really excited to try this place out, but she just seemed without any emotions/monotonous when I asked her questions (like when did Rosalitas open). She reminded me of Ben Stein in the red-eye commercial... or a sloth (she was cute, too) Didn't bother me so much as I was really looking forward to good food and a good night. Our waitress was so fast with everything! I don't know if she was in character for Speedy Gonzalez. She asked for our drink order, and I always start off with water, light ice, and lemon. And before I can even ask her about the alcoholic drink menu, she sped off ‍. Upon returning, she just dropped the straws, sped off again to take the next tables order (at this time I'm just thinking they may be short staffed ‍). Since, it was my first time, I had questions of what came with what. She seemed to just be in a hurry and annoyed, so my table just ordered whatever and didn't even ask anything. We were hungry, so her demeanor didn't really get to us. Ea table gets chips and salsa. I wasn't so much into the salsa. The chips were cold and the salsa didn't taste too good. I guess I was expecting something more authentic, but I have to keep in mind that this is a chain resto, so.... Our food looked really good (see pics). We got a whole bunch of different tacos, hot tamales, street corn, and fried ice cream. The hot tamales wasn't even hot or spicy. It tasted ok. I did ask for chicken to be added. The black beans and rice was good, though (at least). The tacos were okay, but nothing to rave about. I think my favorite one was the Mexican street style with carnitas and pineapples. The chorizo was a bit too salty for my taste. The shrimp taco was okay. The street corn was delicious. Did not taste like a real street corn, but it was yummy, nonetheless. The fried ice cream was... itself. Too much batter, and the whipped cream with berries in the side didn't do much. It was good, but I don't think I would order it again. The manager did come around table to table and asked if everything was ok. That was nice. Also, the servers were very polite and seemed more enthused. All in all, my first experience wasn't the best. I don't plan on coming back for a while, but it's worth giving Rosalitas another try. God knows, next time, I may get a better experience with the staff (who are a little more excited and take their time with the customers). I did not experience customer service, just not up to par with my standards. And who knows, the other selections in the menu may be better than what I ordered. So, I am hopeful. I knew it was going to be bad when even the salsa and queso tasted like they were from a jar. Again, I wasn't expecting much so when I say the meal was bad that is with the full understanding that I wasn't exactly eating at a Michelin rated restaurant. My wife had a feeling and only order a chicken quesadilla and only ate half of that. She thought if it my 17 year old daughter would eat it when she got home. She took one bite and threw it away. Giving this place four stars because I'm optimistic about it, the chips and salsa and marg were great but the flautos that the waitress recommended were over fried, they were so hard and crunchy but not but not in the way you want flautos to be. I went to this restaurant because I love Mexican food. I ordered for take-out a beef and schrimp fajita dish. The beef was over seasoned and the schrimp had no seasoning at all. The schrimp tasted like it had been frozen and thawed in a microwave. The rice was over cooked and tasteless. They didn't even add tortilla to my order. This was truly the worse meal I have had in Brick. While waiting for my order I realized that the decor was the same as the previous restaurant that occupied the space. After a few minutes the hostess brought us chips and eventually our waiter finally came over to take our drink order and appetizer order. When he brought our drinks back and see if we were ready to order I asked what was good his response was he preferred to eat next door! Absolutely on point every time. The food is prepared well with fresh ingredients. Among the best in the area, especially for Mexican food but also all-around as an established restaurant. Joe the manager takes excellent care of us and genuinely cares about his customers. The rest of the staff is great too. They're all rockstars in their own right. For those that enjoy spicy food I recommend the arbol sauce, which is great and pairs well with just about any item on the menu. The fried ice cream for dessert topped with local honey is also a standout. For the bar crowd, they have a creative selection of cocktails and weekly events including all-you-can-eat tacos on Tuesday's.
