The restaurant is beautiful! Right in the center of the village with a really modern feel. The inside is super nice, and the bar is gorgeous with all the bottles displayed. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was a little disappointing though. The chips were warm and fresh, and the salsa was your typical restaurant salsa. We ordered the molcajete, and I'd give it a 5/10. The chicken was really thin and rubbery, the steak was sliced super thin, only three pieces of shrimp and overall a smaller portion for two compared to this dish other places. There wasn't much sauce in the molcajete to enjoy with the meat and the rice and beans portions were also pretty small. I also ordered the chicken tortilla soup. It didn't have the traditional tortilla soup flavor I was expecting, and instead of shredded chicken it had large pieces that were chewy and overcooked. I ended up not eating the chicken and hardly eating the soup. I really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere is great and in a prime location but the food just didn't live up to it. I'd probably come back for drinks, but I'd try something different if I came back for food.

This appears to be a rather new business in the village. They specialize in Mexican food and seafood. We stopped in for dinner and we're glad that we did. My wife and I split an order of beef fajitas. The fajitas arrived, sizzling on a hot platter, accompanied by a plate that had beans and rice and another plate that had a little bit of cabbage, sour cream, and guacamole. We also got corn tortillas. The meal came with three corn tortillas. They were a little bit bigger than normal tortillas than I get at other Mexican food restaurants and maybe that's why I only got three normally we get four with a fajita order. But I'm sure it was probably about the same size. The fajitas were outstanding. There was an excellent mixture of beef, bell peppers, onions, and outstanding seasoning. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The beans were also excellent. The rice was not the traditional looking Spanish rice. It was white and had peas and carrots in it. I loved it! Before your meal, they deliver a complementary basket of chips and a red and green salsa. Both were outstanding. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive. We were checked on three different times during our meal by someone who we think may have been the owner. She didn't introduce herself, but she didn't wanna make sure that we were enjoying our meal and wanting to make sure our experience was great. It's great to see such care from an owner or manager. The place was humming and the employees were doing a great job. A small band was setting up. It looks like they have live music at certain times. They also have a nice looking little patio out to the back. If you want try a nice Mexican food restaurant while you're in the big Bear Village give Rosa stop by.

The green salsa is life! The service was incredible and the building and ambiance were gorgeous. The chips and green salsa and the quesabirra were delicious I would happily just eat them. The main courses were good but the salsa and quesabirra were the stars for me. The staff were all so incredibly friendly and on top of everything.

While in Big Bear for the week we decided to come here for lunch. It was delicious. Service was excellent and nicely decorated. For starters we got the guacamole- which was excellent and then the very delicious I had the house margarita on the rocks very tasty and my daughter in law got the mango Margarita actually very good as well. Hubby ordered the shrimp on a stone- super delicious . My daughter and I ordered the crunchy taco steak and enchiladas. I favor just cheese and this one was very tasty. My son got the quesabuerriea very good as well and his wife got the fajita plate she said it was very good as well. Overall this was a very good place and I highly recommend going if you are in Big Bear lake.

The staff is super nice and the place is new, very open, and clean. Everyone was so welcoming and seemed happy to be there. We really wanted to like this place because Big Bear is full of not so great tourist food. The food was pretty bland unless you put the salsas on it. The carne asada I got was so pale in color, thinly sliced, and lacked any flavor. The churros were very good and had a yummy gooey center.

This was the best Mexican food I've ever had. I don't know if it was the margarita that I had or the good company I was with. I had the best time. It was so cute inside beautiful interior. The fish tacos were to die for. I ate it up. Our server was a queen and she requested the best margaritas.

Idk where to even start with this 5 star review!!! Beautiful interior! Very well done all the way across! Service was impeccable! Being greeted by the owner herself at the Host stand and then being taken care of by Guadalupe our server. Top notch service and setting the experience for the rest of the evening! Im a huge foodie and we ordered multiple things cause we wanted to try as much as we could! The Chips and Salsa were hot and fresh! The Chile Verde plate was one of the best I've ever had! The Mole was chefs kiss!!! The Rice and Beans! So much love goes into making food like this and it shows and you can taste it! This easily goes down for me as one of the best restaurants I've ever been too. Since were here visiting we might just make it a 2nd time before we head back home!

I am so glad that 'the other place' didn't have a table for our group, because we walked up the street and came upon this gorgeous, spacious, newly opened restaurant: Rosa's! It is beautiful inside; once you step in, you forget you are in the mountains. The ambience and decor feel like chic LA or Newport Beach. The art pops from the walls, the ceilings are high, the furniture is on point, and the place is a gem! The staff are so warm, friendly, and fast moving; that makes you feel well tended to. The complementary chips and salsa are a fantastic entry point to the culinary experience. We had the pleasure of meeting Rosa herself; this restaurant is one of her greatest achievements; her personal passion and joy are reflected throughout the place - and in the delicious food! All of our party loved our dishes. I'd gladly go back to Rosa's for lunch or dinner! You should try it- you won't be disappointed!

Stopped in for lunch at Rosa's Mexican Restaurant, and I was seriously impressed. They're only two weeks old, but they already have everything dialed in. I was greeted immediately and seated within seconds, which set a great first impression. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive the entire time, making sure we had everything we needed. The food tasted amazing--fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you're craving Mexican food. Overall, I was really happy with the experience and will definitely be coming back. Excited to have a spot like this around!

Service- friendly staff - everyone! The salsas were perfect and warm chips! We will be back again n again. Looooved it!

Patty greeted us when we came in the door and said we could sit wherever we wanted. She was lovely, very attentive and helpful. Her sister owns the place. She even gave us scads of recommendations for other local places to try and things to do. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else. I decided against that (because the scallops themselves were stellar) but I agreed to some extra Alfredo sauce to mellow out the flavors in the pasta, which worked great! When she learned it was our anniversary, Patty gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house the likes of which I have never tasted before. I don't order cheesecake often, but this was beautifully creamy and sweet. If you want to support local businesses, I highly recommend Jakobe's. They're good people who cook great food and care about their community. SUPPORT LOCAL! DON'T LET THE CHAINS WIN!

My friends and I had plans to go to ZAMA and found out it was closed so we had to find a new place…read more We ended up here just based off the pictures. Let's start with the margarita I got, I did not taste any alcohol in it (and I cannot have strong drinks! So that can tell you a lot) not worth $18. We basically paid for an expensive agua fresca! Then I ordered the carne asada skewers. The first bite was okay, not very flavorful, but I thought I could just finish it. As I go through the meat, I notice so much fat and very little meat. I grab another piece and bite into it, I start chewing and realize that it tasted like raw meat (with a hint taste of raw meat that spent too much time in the fridge) I immediately got nauseous and spit it out on a napkin. I told our server and he asked me what else I would like. I then ordered the fish tacos, he brought it out in less than 5 minutes (kind of fast if you ask me) I try a small piece of the fish and it wasn't bad, I give a piece to my friend and she only got fat. Why is there fat in my fish tacos! I tried to pick through it so I could atleast get full, but I couldn't do it. The server came to pick up our plates and asked me if I didn't like the tacos, I said no but that's okay don't worry about it. I was so disappointed because I was starving. My friend ordered the rib eye tacos and had to pick through it too because most of it was fat. The only good thing that happened was that our server did not charge me for the two plates that I didn't eat. We thanked him, paid the check and left. Unfortunately, this was not the best food and we were excited to eat and celebrate my birthday.

We had a 12:30PM reservation for their Mother's Day "Mariachi Brunch". The restaurant called us the…read moreday before to suggest we move it to catch the full mariachi set. We changed our plans to 12pm. That's where things started going wrong in ways we couldn't have predicted. There was a huge line outside. All reservation holders, all waiting, none being told anything useful. We stood there for over an hour. This restaurant enforces a 90-minute table limit, so the only way reservations run 60 minutes behind is if you sold more tables than you have. When they finally seated us, they walked us to the very back of the restaurant to plastic folding picnic tables and plastic chairs. The furthest possible seats, out of sight from the mariachi stage. Then we asked for the brunch menu. The server looked surprised, "We're out of the brunch menu. Everyone ordered the same thing." You promoted a brunch, and everyone ordered brunch? Shocking lol. We had to order off the regular menu instead. Our reservation was at 12pm, we sat down at 1:05pm and I finally got my meal at 1:30pm. There were several mistakes to our orders. One person at our table got the grilled shrimp. They served it raw and he sent it back. He ended up not eating and left without a meal. One of the staff was telling frustrated customers that this is simply what you should expect on Mother's Day. No accountability. Just the excuse that wanting a functional experience on a holiday is your fault for going out. This made it worse. And the mariachi? They stopped playing five minutes after we finally sat down. The same guy who told us this to lower our standards told us the band was on a 15-minute break. That break lasted 50 minutes. They came back to play right as our plates were being cleared away. Remember, we were seated in the very back, nowhere near the stage. The band finally made their way toward us just as we were asking for the check. They comped a few items and brought complimentary dessert. It didn't matter by then. This is a bar and lounge that decided to become a holiday brunch venue for one day. The grandmothers in that line didn't come for the lounge atmosphere. They came for the brunch and the mariachi -- the two things this restaurant completely failed to deliver. But I'd bet the staff is somewhere high-fiving each other for surviving a busy shift, convinced we all got exactly the Mother's Day we deserved for daring to go out. We still spend $300. We fell for the trap. And the portions were not large enough, so we went down the street to an Irish pub after and ate some appetizers to make up for it. Better to stick with family restaurants that have experience with special occasions.
