The restaurant is beautiful! Right in the center of the village with a really modern feel. The inside is super nice, and the bar is gorgeous with all the bottles displayed. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was a little disappointing though. The chips were warm and fresh, and the salsa was your typical restaurant salsa. We ordered the molcajete, and I'd give it a 5/10. The chicken was really thin and rubbery, the steak was sliced super thin, only three pieces of shrimp and overall a smaller portion for two compared to this dish other places. There wasn't much sauce in the molcajete to enjoy with the meat and the rice and beans portions were also pretty small. I also ordered the chicken tortilla soup. It didn't have the traditional tortilla soup flavor I was expecting, and instead of shredded chicken it had large pieces that were chewy and overcooked. I ended up not eating the chicken and hardly eating the soup. I really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere is great and in a prime location but the food just didn't live up to it. At the time we visited, Rosa's was a relatively new restaurant in Big Bear Village, so a level of grace is given. The food was tasty, hot, and delivered quickly. I had chicken fajitas, the wife a chicken taco salad. Both had generous portions of marinated chicken. The fajitas had adequate ingredients, and when asked for additional flour tortillas, they were brought rapidly. The salad had an abundance of lettuce, and a good crispy bowl. The service was outstanding. Each person, from the greeter to the waitress, bar staff, and others were genuinely interested in being there and were professional, courteous, and served with a sense of urgency. The atmosphere is outstanding. As a new venue, the restaurant was well appointed, clean, and organized. As a recommendation, the televisions in the outside dining area need to be able to access local sports, such as the Dodgers, as that would enhance the dining experience. I am certain this will be rectified quickly. All in all, a good place for Mexican food on the mountain. read more

This appears to be a rather new business in the village. They specialize in Mexican food and seafood. We stopped in for dinner and we're glad that we did. My wife and I split an order of beef fajitas. The fajitas arrived, sizzling on a hot platter, accompanied by a plate that had beans and rice and another plate that had a little bit of cabbage, sour cream, and guacamole. We also got corn tortillas. The meal came with three corn tortillas. They were a little bit bigger than normal tortillas than I get at other Mexican food restaurants and maybe that's why I only got three normally we get four with a fajita order. But I'm sure it was probably about the same size. The fajitas were outstanding. There was an excellent mixture of beef, bell peppers, onions, and outstanding seasoning. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The beans were also excellent. The rice was not the traditional looking Spanish rice. It was white and had peas and carrots in it. I loved it! Before your meal, they deliver a complementary basket of chips and a red and green salsa. Both were outstanding. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive. We were checked on three different times during our meal by someone who we think may have been the owner. She didn't introduce herself, but she didn't wanna make sure that we were enjoying our meal and wanting to make sure our experience was great. It's great to see such care from an owner or manager. The place was humming and the employees were doing a great job. A small band was setting up. It looks like they have live music at certain times. While in Big Bear for the week we decided to come here for lunch. It was delicious. Service was excellent and nicely decorated. For starters we got the guacamole- which was excellent and then the very delicious I had the house margarita on the rocks very tasty and my daughter in law got the mango Margarita actually very good as well. Hubby ordered the shrimp on a stone- super delicious . My daughter and I ordered the crunchy taco steak and enchiladas. I favor just cheese and this one was very tasty. My son got the quesabuerriea very good as well and his wife got the fajita plate she said it was very good as well. Perfect for people who think salt is spicy. Setting is nice, location is convenient and service was friendly. But the food is as bland as it is expensive. They forgot my margarita and when I finally got it 30 minutes later, it tasted like just lime water. And then the food, it wasn't bad it was just tasteless. Three of us went for dinner Sunday July 5th around 7:00 pm. The restaurant was very busy we were greeted immediately at the front desk and seated at a table in the bar area. Our server Himari was very nice knew the menu very well and helped us select our entree. The manager also came by several times just to ask if we needed anything and how we were doing. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. We were frequently asked if we would like more. We never had to ask for refills of anything. Everybody worked very well together the manager even came around more than once the bus boys came around clearing plates toping off our water glasses. Basically we never had to ask for anything. The entire staff worked well together. We shared a combo similar to a fajita with chicken, carne asada, grilled shrimp, cactus, queso and a chorizo salsa dip item with in house made tortillas. Everything was perfect. My spicy jalapeño margarita the entree. Totally enjoyable experience. I plan to return frequently. Himari checked up on us frequently and was just a really nice person. The woman managing that night was on top of the entire room. I worked 40 years in restaurants and I pay attention to the room as a habit and I can say its a really well run restaurant employees all seem to enjoy themselves and work as a team.
