This appears to be a rather new business in the village. They specialize in Mexican food and seafood. We stopped in for dinner and we're glad that we did. My wife and I split an order of beef fajitas. The fajitas arrived, sizzling on a hot platter, accompanied by a plate that had beans and rice and another plate that had a little bit of cabbage, sour cream, and guacamole. We also got corn tortillas. The meal came with three corn tortillas. They were a little bit bigger than normal tortillas than I get at other Mexican food restaurants and maybe that's why I only got three normally we get four with a fajita order. But I'm sure it was probably about the same size. The fajitas were outstanding. There was an excellent mixture of beef, bell peppers, onions, and outstanding seasoning. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The beans were also excellent. The rice was not the traditional looking Spanish rice. It was white and had peas and carrots in it. I loved it! Before your meal, they deliver a complementary basket of chips and a red and green salsa. Both were outstanding. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive. We were checked on three different times during our meal by someone who we think may have been the owner. She didn't introduce herself, but she didn't wanna make sure that we were enjoying our meal and wanting to make sure our experience was great. It's great to see such care from an owner or manager. The place was humming and the employees were doing a great job. A small band was setting up. It looks like they have live music at certain times. I am so glad that 'the other place' didn't have a table for our group, because we walked up the street and came upon this gorgeous, spacious, newly opened restaurant: Rosa's! It is beautiful inside; once you step in, you forget you are in the mountains. The ambience and decor feel like chic LA or Newport Beach. The art pops from the walls, the ceilings are high, the furniture is on point, and the place is a gem! The staff are so warm, friendly, and fast moving; that makes you feel well tended to. Stopped in for lunch at Rosa's Mexican Restaurant, and I was seriously impressed. They're only two weeks old, but they already have everything dialed in. Wow!! So great to have this new restaurant in Big Bear. The first thing you notice as soon as you walk in is the decor. It's so welcoming and beautiful. I went with a group of friends to another restaurant which happened to be closed so we did a quick pivot and headed to Rosa's. And it turned out perfectly perfect! They seated all eight of us right away and quickly got us stated with drinks, chips and delicious margaritas. The wait staff was amazing. The owners were both there and double checked on us several times. Everyone was friendly, happy, and helpful. Our food was delivered hot and quickly. She was incredibly friendly and helped me choose the quesabirria plate and I'm so glad she did. It was honestly the best quesabirria I've had in my 26 years!!! She was incredibly bitter, arrogant, condescending, critical, and judgmental, and she treated the staff poorly right in front of us. When my son politely suggested live music--drawing from business experience and what the community needs--she looked at him with utter disdain and ignored him entirely. She looked down on us as a collective, maintaining an air of effortless superiority as if we were beneath her very notice. We do not pay premium prices to be treated with such condescension. There are plenty of other "yummy" spots in Big Bear that actually value their customers. We have homes in Big Bear and are respected, loved members of our large community. We heard about this new restaurant and couldn't wait to check it out. I liked the atmosphere with everything being clean and bright and a bit upscale for a Mexican restaurant. The place was extremely busy as it was a holiday weekend and this new restaurant had just opened up about a week ago. We got the margarita tree and it was as fun as you would expect! We enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa, especially since they provide a red and green salsa to dip back-and-forth between, really nice. I enjoyed the flavors of my combo plate with the chicken enchilada and chicken taco being pretty darn tasty, and really enjoyed the rice and beans with the rice being a bit more refined than the usual Spanish rice and the refried beans seemed a bit more creamy than usual, a nice upgrade on both! Well, we definitely enjoyed our visit, but we could tell the restaurant was new as it took three times for them to get our food right. The first time we got beef items instead of chicken, the second time the chicken enchilada only had cheese in it and was missing the chicken. They were very popular for birthdays, there were probably 6 birthday songs sung while we were there! We decided to eat there. While the restaurant looks well kept the prices are ridiculous. We orderd ceviche. The small plate they call a tower cost $27.00 and to top it off we found a hair on one of the shrimps. They asked us if there was anything else we wanted instead so we orderd another plate. They still charged us for the ceviche although we didn't end up eating it and after they had taken the plate away. Also, we orderd a carne asada plate that was $27.00 as well. When the plate was served it was extremely skimpy. They served not even a 4oz flat steak one scoop of rice one scoop of beans. I'll take Señora Cantina's Restaurant in Big Bear over this place anyday. There not nearly as expensive, the food is Amazing and, they are not greedy with there servings. read more
