I can't believe we have never ventured in here since my family's cabin purchase twenty some years ago! The location is directly off of highway 18, so be careful when pulling in or out. There are plenty of places to sit outside, 2 levels, as well as some inside. The menu has many options as well. We opted for the "daily specials", one plate of 2 beef tacos and one plate of 2 enchiladas, one beef and one cheese both plates $14.99. The choices were chicken, beef or cheese. While waiting for our food, we snacked on the complimentary chips and salsa; both rather bland. Some people must love it because on the front of the menu it stated each table is alloted two servings of salsa. There will be a charge after two. Our food came out fairly quickly and looked good. The beef taco wasn't shredded, more like cubed meat. Different and good. I had a bite of each of my husbands enchiladas for one of my tacos. Again, the cubed beef. The mexican rice had good flavor, the beans just okay. When the bill came, one of the plates was $15.99, instead of $14.99 as stated on the menu. I inquired and was told they have to upcharge because both the enchiladas were not the same. When ordering, great customer service would entail having declared the discrepancy to the patron. That did not happen. For our first time visiting, we enjoyed the food, for the most part. There are at least three Mexican food places within a five minute drive. Would I choose this one? Verdict still out. By the way, they do not have any Happy Hour regardless of what you may find on Google or Yelp.

Rosalva's Mexican Food is an absolute gem in Skyforest. Beautiful views. The food is incredibly authentic--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite was excellent. The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. And the Cadillac margaritas? Bomb. Easily some of the best I've had--perfectly balanced and dangerously good. This place hits on all cylinders. Can't wait to come back!

Rosalvas never disappoints. Their food is great and the service is accommodating. I usually order to go and always have a pleasant experience with my pick up orders. I ordered the carne asada nachos and red enchilada plate both were delicious including the chips and salsa that come with the meal. The chips are fresh and their salsa is really good, the rice and beans are delicious too. This is my 2nd updated review. I devoured most of the plate before I took the picture.

Note: I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of our food. Take that as a sign...it was good. We got there early, so the restaurant was just starting to get busy for breakfast. The smells of the kitchen really hit the appetite. Very small dining area, but warm and cozy. Decor was classically Mexicano. The menu was classic. They do have adult beverages if you are dining a little later in the day, but for me - I decided on a Mexican coke to go with my meal. I had the Chorizzo con Juevo plate and my wife had the Machaca plate. Both meals were delicious and filling. The beef in the Machaca was well seasoned. The refried beans were not your canned refried beans, or at least they did not taste like it. Maybe I was that hungry. The surprise was the salsa. Homemade and delicious. They must have a lot of people asking for it as they do sell it to go. If your on your way up to Arrowhead or Big bear, this little gem is right on the highway where you decide to go left to Arrowhead or straight to Big Bear. If you're hungry it is worth the stop. Hasta Luego!

My kiddos (10-12) and I went up to our Lake Arrowhead cabin for the weekend and decided on Mexican for dinner. Rosalvas has a great reasonably-priced kids menu. Everyone had something that they really liked. The lobster taco I got was really good, and different than I expected. Instead of being deep fried it tasted like the inside of a lobster roll with taco toppings. AWESOME! my skinny/spicy margarita was great. Our server did a great job getting our order (just) right for my picky kids. Complimentary Chips, salsa and side of guacamole were great! We sat outside on a Friday night, felt very cared for and had a nice meal. I love a good Americanized Mexican restaurant, we will be back!

Amazing food! And very fast for pick-up. Their tortillas are amazing and so is their tomatillo salsa.

Vintage dinnerware adorns the walls, the curtains are straight out of grandma's house. You get the vibe! It was Memorial Day weekend, so there was a bit of a wait to be seated, about 30 minutes. We killed the time by getting some excellent Bloody Marys at Jetties, just a few steps away. After being seated, the service was super fast. We got our food maybe 10 minutes after ordering, and the place was packed. The kitchen was really hustling. Food: Wife got the Little Breakfast, as usual. Waffle was nice and light, bacon was crispy, eggs cooked over easy, as ordered. Our two friends ordered from opposite ends of the spectrum. He got the Mountain Breakfast, which is a tremendous amount of food. Eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, potatoes, etc. I'm not sure how he finished it. She got just a single waffle. But she enjoyed it. Finally, I went rogue, skipped breakfast and got the Reuben and Onion Rings. It was a sloppy sandwich but had plenty of corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss. Very tasy. The onion rings were better than I expected, lightly battered and crunchy. Also got a Bloody Mary here, which was nowhere near as good as the ones at Jetties. But the Waffle Works doesn't use real vodka, so I kind of expected that. In the end, a good time and satisfying meal. A ding for the crowdedness and value, and it's good food--not great. A little over $100 for the four of us, which is more than I like to spend for breakfast. But still, we will be back!

Absolutely no for thought is made when seating people with dogs, guests with dogs are seated at tables in the middle of walkways, and no thought is made about placing dogs next to other tables with dogs or very young children without any thought or forewarning. Service was meh. Our waitress was abrupt and and not at all welcoming or friendly. Ordered iced coffee and it was as light as tea. No refills of water or coffee wherever offered, our waitress never came back to see if our food was OK which it pretty much wasn't. The bananas were so hard and unripe they were in edible. Strawberries were also not ripe. We are here for a few days, but we definitely will not be coming back to this restaurant.

I think it took 10 minutes to get water, 10 minutes to find someone to get our order in, and then 20-30 minutes until our food came out. We actually came here because all the other restaurants we wanted to try had a 2+ hour long wait and Sunsets was only about 30 minutes. We ordered the Pupu Platter which came with only one conglomerate piece of tempura when reportedly we were supposed to get 4 separate pieces. The coconut shrimp was raw as seen in the photo. Fortunately they replaced this with another platter of coconut shrimp. The shrimp and mahi mahi tacos were great as was the mushroom ravioli. However the NY strip (which came recommended) had an uneven cook as seen in the photo which looks as if they did not let the steak come to room temperature before cooking. Also was very Underseasoned with a bland taste. The mashed potatoes (also pictured) was bland as well without a creamy texture as expected of mashed potatoes. No complaints about service. Would like to think maybe we caught them on an off day since it was Memorial Day weekend but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. May have been better to just save the money and make a decent dish at home.

This is a low-key, "local vibe" kind of diner ~ do not go here for ambiance or high end cuisine. That said, the server was friendly and helpful with the menu. We both had burgers and fries/onion rings - I had the Ortega burger with cheddar cheese, 5/5, SO GOOD!! WILL GET AGAIN!!! I knew the burger would be good, this place is your "typical diner" - however, I was actually blown away by it!! Fries and onion rings were delicious too!! Salty, crunchy and perfectly cooked. Ranch sauce was fire too. My BF has been eating at this place for years now, and has nothing but good things to say about this place as well. We can't wait to go back soon and try the Mexican food, as our server recommended trying that cuisine. Based off these experiences and the friendly head nod from the cook as we left - we'll be back and will try something new. I actually look forward to trying breakfast there as well, at some point soon, as I heard the people seated behind us talking how good their waffles and pancakes are. The food portions here are very generous, and the pricing is extremely fair. Just like any diner the menu is very large and has a lot of great options on it. Service was very fast and friendly, and they are true champions with staying on top of the drink refills. There is a large free parking lot right in front so parking is very easy and close. Inside is pretty small, they have about six booths and twice as many counter seats so if it is busy, you may have to wait a little bit, but it will be worth it. For this visit, I chose the Chili Cheese Omelette and really liked it. I wish it would've had less beans and more meat but overall I can't complain because I finished the entire thing. They also do four eggs for their omelettes so it is a bit larger than you will usually get. As mentioned the coffee is great and they will continue the refills the second you need it. It's located in sleepy Running Springs, which is in between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. It's less than a 10 minute drive from both locations so it is a really great option for breakfast when visiting. We will be back next time we are visiting the mountains.
