I was a little bit skeptic due to the review but what heck! I was in for a margarita!!! I was surprised because of the not-so-great reviews, margarita with chamoy, tamarind base, seems really nice! Their fire roasted tomato salsa was different than any salsa I've tasted. Mild not salty and not very tomato-ey. Balanced flavor of onion cilantro and that fire roasted flavor. The spicy shrimp plate does not have that Mexican flavor but more like a Thai spicy chili saucy which she already said from the get go. Definitely come eat here!!! We sat at the bar and the lovely lady working the bar was so friendly; both staff we encountered were. I really enjoyed the T-Paige marg and the chamoy was so good I bought some to go. The mulita hit the spot and I'd recommend it to everyone. We split the carne asada mulita and each got a fish taco and that filled us up. I would definitely come back here. My brother-in-law and his wife joined us for a weekend at our place in Big Bear City. We went into the village to walk around. The ladies wanted to look at clothes, sonething we did not care to do. We were walking past Muchachos and heard live music, that pulled us in! It was about 11:30 a.m. and we found a high boy table. Soon my BIL had drinks and chips. We enjoyed the guitarist and his recorded backing trax. After a phone call from da wives they joined us and we had another round of drinks and lunch. Very clean and super friendly service, I would give the food 4 stars, ambiance 4.5 stars, service was 5 stars as were the drinks. read more

Walked by this place late and saw the sign which advertises their amazing margaritas. The restaurant was closed but I knew I had to try it the next day. Stoped in mid day on a Saturday. We were immediately greeted by Rick. It was a bit busy but not so busy that we couldn't be seated. Soon after we received our fresh chips and salsa along with the menu. The place itself is very aesthetic. The decore is nice with a Hispanic flair. There are lottoria pics along the left wall and pretty cool looking beer tap made from a paleta cart. The roll up front door makes the inside nice and fresh. On to the menu. They have the usual variety of Mexican option and hot wings..LOL. So, we went with chicken enchiladas, an asada burrito and a couple tacos. Many would say Mexican is Mexican. I beg to differ. The green sauce was tasty, the beans were good and the rice fluffy. The burrito and tacos were above average with tender asada meat. Now on to the salsas. Salsas can make or brake any restaurant. The sauce on the green enchiladas was very good. The salsa provided with the chips was mild and could use a little more flavor. But, the salsa provided with the burrito had an amazing roasted flavor. AND then I asked for their spicy salsa. I was provided with a magnificent off the menu habanero salsa which will kick your but. This place is not just good it's very good. 1/3/25, around 4-5pm. I honestly would not recommend this place to anyone. Margarita is ok. Food: We ordered the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and chicken tenders and fries. The tacos were incredibly bland. At first glance, the food lacked color and did not look very appetizing. The taste itself did not serve it any justice either. Regarding the chicken tenders, they were thin and tasted like crap that came from their restrooms. The only good thing that came out of this place was their fries, and trust me when i say this, the fries did not taste that good either. Service: The waiters were so dismissive. When we asked for the napkins, they handed us a roll of paper towel, not even putting it on the rack. When we asked for straws, she (the waitress) was taking her time before getting to us, making us as customers, feel like a low priority in comparison to the people sitting at the bar. We waited for a long time for our food to come out, hence the expectation that the food that was prepared would taste decent or excellent, but our expectations of the food proved to be a disappointment. I would like to add that we were forced to tip for their "customer service", paying $11 for something that was not even there. We were mad, and still hungry since the portion was so small and tasteless. I would advise better cooks, better waitress and service, or maybe even market yourselves as just a bar rather than serving food. This place did a disservice to everyone that ate there. Food and service done right. The colorful, eclectic wall decor gave this place a unique upscale ambiance in comparison to those hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shops down the mountain. Food was cooked fairly perfected with full of flavor. Surprised the chicken was tender, flavorful and moist in the fajitas trio. Fajitas overall done right. The birria tacos was exceptional and I can literally drink up all the consome after coating the birria tacos in it. I was taken back a bit with some skeptism about their note on charging for a 2nd round of chips. However, Rick (I believe), our server was great. He didn't charge for the 2nd basket of chips for our semi-large party of 8. He was communitative of how long our food entries will be. For what I could have docked a star or two for one of our kids plate coming out late compared to everyone elses' plate served, he wrote it off (removed it) from our bill without us asking. Came here for after dinner drinks and snack. Staff were very helpful and extremely friendly - very interactive and lively. Great service, even though it was late and near closing. Salsa that came with the chips were surprisingly delicious! The carne asada fries had generous serving of toppings, especially the guacamole. The fries were also perfectly done - lightly crisp on outside and soft on inside. The green sauce for the Chilaquiles is a little spicy but it was spot on. The service was exceptional, they let us try the Mexican coffee which was very interesting. This place was recommended by friends of my aunt and uncle, so we decided to take a drive up and check it out, also because they are dog friendly. Saw only high tops and asked the server and he said they did have one regular table which was perfect for us. My mom is in her 80s and my aunt and uncle 70s and 80s, so bar tops don't work well. Carlos, our server was friendly, attentive and amazing. The food was super fresh, unique and super delicious. Great salsa, awesome cocktails! I have to say, I am incredibly disappointed at the recent quality of Muchachos. I first came here when they opened several years ago and it was excellent. Food was fresh and tasty, drinks were mixed well, and the service was friendly and authentic. I'm not sure what has happened over the years. I do not fault the server, as it appears she was working by herself, but the food and drinks seem to be prepared beforehand to maximize customers while minimizing the need for workers. The cocktail I received was incredibly watered down, and the food was bland. Chips, salsa, and questionable guacamole were almost inedible when they used to be a great intro to the food. In general, the price point is much too high especially considering the current quality. I made it a point to eat here every time I'm in Big Bear but unfortunately, this will be my last. read more

We did not try them so I can neither agree nor disagree. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a bar. Very greasy and only fried options really. Now with being said, I think if I had a drink or two I would have been more receptive to bar food and might have even enjoyed it. The biggest reason for the low rating is my wife has Celiac disease. We asked in advance about what type of tortillas were used for the tacos and were told corn, they were very clearly a hybrid. Truly expected more from an establishment that touts " best margarita in town". Because it was our first time visiting we ordered regular margaritas at $18 a pop before stepping into the $23 margaritas. (Yes, they are that pricey). We also ordered a side of chips which included salsa and guacamole. The margaritas were served pretty quick and after one sip all I could say was oh no! It tasted like they perhaps made a pitcher of margaritas the night before and loaded it with ice then served them the next day. They were very watered down, tasted like lemon, and definitely no hint of tequila. So we paid $18 each for watered down lemonade. The guacamole basically was someone who had taken an avocado smashed it in a small bowl and brought it out to us. No flavor whatsoever. The chips were fine until we started getting into the middle of them and then they were either stale or soggy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I expected much more than what we got. Two stars but only for the waitress and ambiance because the margaritas and the side dish were both thumbs down. I can't see myself going back and paying $23 for one of the higher priced ones when a simple margarita didn't even pass the test. read more

"Rick" immediately seats us and starts recommending drinks. 2 hours later, an El Boss Man margarita, a Strawberry Margarita, a draft blonde, and entertainment to die for from Connor Peyton, and we've had the best time ever! The service is Familia! Second to none! The crowd? Electric. The drinks? Off the charts! Drove all the way from Temecula. Did not disappoint!
