My favorite was the chorrellana. The beans, rice, meat, onions, everything. Absolutely perfect. My husband really liked his costillas al horno, and our mom liked her carne asada wrap. Everything was delicious! We also had the agua fresco of the day which will be another staple to our order. Last but certainly not least was the churros. Dang, so crispy, warming, and delicious. 3 years later and it's still one of my top favorites in Big Bear. The service is the best. The avocado salad appetizer is still on point. The asado en olla is my favorite entree. Carnitas hard shell tacos are delicious. Can't go wrong at Gaby's! This time we tried the 'mocochinchi' agua fresca drink, basically a cold peach cider. Wifi name is Gabys Guest Password is Gabys2024 We ordered and split the soup of the day, which was chicken soup with pasta and the Picante de Pollo. The soup was great for a cold winter day and was great, with plenty of parsley and a big chunk of corn. The picante de pollo was under the Bolivian section of the menu and came with mac and cheese and rice, which seemed mixed either with quinoa or another type of grain. It wasn't picante at all and as good as the dish looked, it was a bit bland. The chicken was really tender though and all dark meat, which we flavored up with the hot sauce we requested and the salsa it came with. The matron was definitely the mama of the house and you could tell she wasn't going to take shit though she didn't have the best bedside manner herself. There were indicators of the place's personality with signs like "No Drama Zone, leave the drama at the door" and "No substitutions, Bolivian mama serves it how it is." Interesting Bolivian place. Glad my friend let's try this place. Big parking lot in the back so plenty of parking. Staff was super friendly. We went when there was a big party so took a little bit to order and wait for our food. However it was cooked to order. I got the salmon which comes with their avocado salad & asparagus. It was tasty. Especially if you some of their salsa which is really good. Both of them. They brought it out with my friends' tacos which they also both enjoyed. 1 had crunchy & 1 had soft. Fantastic flavors here! We loved everything we ordered which included the incredible avocado salad. Scoop some avocado salad with a chip and drop some of the spicy salsa on it and it's heaven. I had the chile relleno which was the best I've had since they are usually made with egg and this one did not have egg. The creamy cheesy sauce on top was delightful. This was my first time trying lomo montado and Bolivian hot chocolate. The lomo montado was deliciously authentic and also the perfect serving size for me! First time at Gaby's for a fun friend weekend. The staff was so sweet, they helped us with recommendations. We started out with the Plata appetizer, it was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of avocado but the way it was seasoned was perfect and the homemade chips, so delicious. I got the breakfast taco and chicken a la carte taco. Gaby's is great! I got a pick-up order from there. The staff was lovely, helpful and genuinely enthusiastic about their food. The Bolivian carnitas is a standout here. It is very flavorful. We got a carnitas plate and a wet burrito with the carnitas. Both came highly recommended by the person that took our order. She told us to get the burrito wet and we did not regret doing so! We also got the Palta salad (Avocado salad) and the Chorrellana plate. Both of these dishes were also tasty and satisfying. The portions were large, and we had leftovers to enjoy the next day. There's a large free parking lot, and lots of seating inside with a small outdoor patio. I would definitely visit Gaby's again when in Big Bear! read more

Easily some of the best I've had, and that's saying a lot coming from me. The service was honestly just as impressive as the food. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive--it made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. I'm actually kind of upset I didn't try this place sooner. I feel bad writing this ok-bad review because I think it is family-run, but hopefully this feedback will improve things. It is advertised as a Mexican, but it is Bolivian. There are no welcome chips and salsa. They charge 2.85% credit card usage, but charge high prices for everything else. The place is run down and is self-service. I got this empanada they had displayed for $8: it was lukewarm, flavorless and completely burned at the bottom. The Cesar salad was sad. Literally a bowl of lettuce with side of dressing. We had to ask for customs. The ONLY thing worth it is this avacado salad, but that is an appetizer and not enough food. Too bad. read more

My mom lives in Big Bear full time so we visit often and Gabby's is one of our favorite places to go in Big Bear. I highly recommend ordering from the Bolivian section of the menu as that has been our go-to. We love ordering the avocado salad and the Asado En Olla - Spicy short ribs cooked with a special house recipe. Served with rice, peanut pasta, and yuca root. We like that the location is not in the village it makes it much easier to park and get a table, especially on the weekends. This place was very yummy and offered lots of tuna on their tuna dishes. We ordered the poke burrito, poke nachos, and shrimp fajitas. The poke burrito was a little bit better than the nachos because the nachos were just soy sauce for flavor. The shrimp fajitas were sizzling good! Only downside is I think they forgot about our orders because it took a very long time to get our cheese dip out. But I'd still come back, it was just one thing, not a make or break at all read more
