We have been to Rosa's twice now. We don't have Humpty Dumpty chips back in Maryland, so we make sure to get at least two bags of their all dressed chips from here. There are coolers with cold drinks, whoopie pies, and salads. The service is nice and friendly as it is your typical small town deli feel. You walk in the door and feel like family. Now with that being said, both times we have been here there has been a wait, to the tune of 25 minutes or so. There is not indoor seating but there are several picnic tables with umbrellas outside on hot days like today (July 16th) to is cooler outside than in the deli so stepping outside is quite refreshing. Great food, we've ordered here multiple times, I usually get the chicken tender box and it's the best pull apart tenders I've ever had, my partner usually get haddock and it just falls apart perfectly, the haddock sandwhiches is a great size for the price. My wonderful daughter decided to take me out to lunch for Father's Day for sandwiches at Rosa's deli in Sanford. I ordered a turkey sub with all of the vegetables except onions and my daughter got a turkey sub as well. She got her turkey sub with peppers pickles and provolone cheese. Rosa's is the real deal, love this place so much. Not only are the sandwich ingredients fresh and flavorful, but the attention to detail is unmatched and CONSISTENT. We live down the road and usually order about once a week and it's the same delicious, fresh, well prepared food every single time. Now, to my favorite part. You know when you bite into your Italian and you pull out a whole slice of tomato in your bite, or get a whole mouthful of olives instead of a balanced bite of all the ingredients? That will never happen with Rosa's because every topping is chopped up and evenly spread throughout the sandwich. You can have great ingredients, but it's hard to find places that pay attention to how you actually eat something. My second favorite thing (as someone who worked in food service for a long time) is that they don't suffer fools gladly here, so if you're a tourist looking to be coddled by over the top fake customer service and free stuff, please go elsewhere. This place is busy and their employees are focused on the excellent food, which they get right every single time. Tip: call in your order. You can walk in and think you're the only one to be served, but you'll wait 40 minutes because they've got 15 called in orders. They are all extremely friendly and the atmosphere of the whole place is clearly full of love and care and it definitely shows in their food. It's simple, it's delicious, and it makes you feel right at home. Rosa's Deli is THE place to go and get a bite to eat in Sanford. They even have an atm for you to withdraw cash since they don't accept cards! I hadn't been to Rosa's since I moved in 2008. Back then they had some of the best sandwiches in the area, my favorite being the cranberry walnut chicken salad on their own thick sliced bread. Now that I'm back I was looking forward to enjoying my favorite Rosa's treat again. My disappointment began upon unwrapping the sandwich and seeing it was on a burger type roll rather than the amazing slices of bread. Perhaps I needed to specify when ordering, but no one asked my bread preference when I ordered. I still had high hopes for the chicken salad itself but sadly I found the deliciousness I remembered was now just a bland, mayo mash. It was painfully obvious the recipe has been adjusted- not for the better. Instead of the tasty goodness it used to be it's now just a run of the mill chicken salad with a few (very few) cranberries and walnuts thrown in and no seasoning. I'll be passing on Rosa's from now on, and that makes me sad. read more

They make a pretty good sandwich, each time I stop in. I've tried their meatball and some Italians. They also have a small selection of Maine made treats, such as whoopie pies, fudge, and more. The folks are a touch slow, but they are always really friendly, and the sandwiches are bad-ass. Rosa's has been here all of my life, for a while I stopped going there...too busy, other places to try, any number of excuses. Well, I went back there for my first ham italian in a dogs age, and it was just as good as it ever was. Their rolls put Subway's to shame. And it's a healthy alterative to McDonalds a few blocks away. I have never tasted rolls like theirs, taste like home made...if you can make good rolls...lol it's been around for at least 50 years, and I hope they will be still open 50 years from now. The deli is well air conditioned, much different than their old building. I sure do miss standing in line when it was at least 100 degrees inside the building...but the new building is lovely. read more
