Terrible experience. I've been a patient here for a few years.... Long story short I paid for work to be done in advance and they were unable to complete it. I'm owed a refund of a few thousand dollars and am being told there is only 1 check signer so I have to wait until that person is back to receive a refund! Completely baffled that they want to hold on to my money for services that were never rendered! I'll be seeking legal remedies to receive my money. read more

Been coming here for over 8 years. Every time you come here, you see a new dentist whom you have never met before. There is no patient history here it seems, every visit is a new experience with a new dentist who doesn't know your history or care to look at your back records. They never check past dental history before evaluating your new diagnosis, it's always a new x-ray every 6 months.....and then the fun begins of where they "go fishing". They purposely try to find something wrong with your mouth, every time...and try to present it in a way where such minor things are blown out of proportion and need to be addressed immediately. Every visit, a new dentist tells me there is something new wrong. But on the next 6 months visit...no one ever mentions the previous issues the other dentist claims to have found,... they just try to present new issues and don't bring up past visit history. And yes, it seems they absolutely love trying to diagnose that you NEED a "deep cleaning" every year it seems. And it's always never insured and you end up paying out of pocket. Don't fall for it. Just get your normal maintenance cleaning, and get out....don't let them talk you into stuff you don't need or have to pay extra for. These people are more like salesman than dentists here. read more

OF ALL PEOPLE! The LOWLEY dental assistant lies and dictates what general services a patient can have even when insurance covers it entirely (cleaning and whitening), to be specific. This IS NOT the way you deal with customers/patients. Its name is Tina. The dentists are great, of course. But to allow an employee to run patients away because of a personal attitude problem only indicates what a bad shape we're in. It shouldn't be working anywhere near people. It should go home and look in the mirror, or go to school and make the rules for its own practice. What a horrible and miserable waste of a salary payout. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Came here for a cleaning. Waited 2-1/2 hour just for X-rays. And came out with no cleaning. They kept telling me be patient. Who's patient while waiting that long. Then they diagnose a deep cleaning when they didn't even probe my gums. Went to another dentist where they requested my X-rays that rose city dental arts would not send. I wrote a good review before...but my tooth #4 broke from the gum line up...I called them and the gave me like a 3 weeks away appointment...went to that appointment, results: they asked $2700 out of my pocket; I left the office quietly with my broken tooth!...but later I'd start thinking; the did a deep cleaning with a local anesthesia, after that all my teeth went wild, I remember when the female dentist was doing my tooth#4 ( the one is broken now), she had to do it twice, because it didn't fit correctly; during the second procedure the tooth crown next to #4 came loose...now I realized my tooth #4 ( the one still broken), was excessively treated it ( professional experience ? )... now if I want to take care of my tooth, I have to come out with $2700, money that I don't have, since I was laid off from my job in March... He was incredibly thorough and gentle. I didn't feel him in my mouth! I really appreciated that he talked me through what he was doing and gave me great honest feedback about my teeth. As stated in other reviews in here, they present you with "this is the treatment and this is what it will cost" when in fact they are sneaking in hidden/unnecessary items that will cost you more. I came in for a "deep cleaning" and was given literature about scaling and root planing They added a flushing procedure that is not covered by my insurance and not part of a standard "deep cleaning" for a whopping $350. My insurance would have covered 100% if they had not snuck in the extra item (which in my research is apparently completely unnecessary and does not have statistical results to back up its efficacy). I did not discover what they did until I got my insurance statements, which mentioned this additional procedure had been added and declined by insurance. A quick hustle when I was in the operating chair, they had me sign a document agreeing to the upsell item. I read the other reviews on here with similar stories too late. I've been coming here for ten years. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. It has never been my experience as far as being upsold. I've always been given options and the staff are very polite and upfront about costs with no pressure to make decisions on the spot. There are several different hygienist so if you don't specifically request a person, you might get a different person each time. I had a few fillings done there- One of my teeth felt fine BEFORE they did the filling and now, there's a dull recurring ache. 2 other fillings: they drilled for less than 10 seconds each, both fillings TOGETHER took less than 10 minutes to complete and leads me to wonder if they were necessary @ all. After reading so many negative reviews, I wanted to chime in. I've been going to Rose City Dental Arts for a little over three years now and have only had good experiences. For the most part, I've only had cleanings, but they did replace a few old fillings that were beginning to age. My insurance only covered the old silver fillings, not the pretty white ones, so when I was handed a fairly big bill, I was surprised. I told the office manager I wasn't given the option and she whisked the bill away and adjusted it, saying not to worry. At no point did anyone try to pressure me into anything expensive or unnecessary. The hygienist suggested some antibiotic stuff for a few gaps in my gums. At first, I said no, but when I found out insurance would cover it for a $5 copay, I agreed. She knew I was skeptical and took photos before administering. My next visit, she took new photos and showed me what the difference was. All in all, I've been happy with my experience and will continue to be a patient for the foreseeable future. read more

Found these guys through a groupon (that should have been a clue). They work hard to upsell and convince you to spend money you don't need too. They tried to convince me to purchase several antibiotic treatments for my gums. I had a couple done, but when I asked other dentists that I know and they looked at my gums, they told me that these guys were just trying to make money off of me. They also tried to talk me out of getting dental insurance because they knew that it would mean me switching to a different dentist. They are all about the money, and not about what's good for their patients. BEWARE! read more

Dr. Nath is a superb dentist. His staff including his hygienist are all very warm, friendly and exceedingly competent. Everyone is gentle and calm - it feels more like a destination spa inside their office than a dental office - I'm sure it must be a great place to work. What's more important is that they are all able to handle my boyfriend's dentist-related anxiety, which is so extreme that the last dentist who assured me that she knew how to deal with anxious patients, had to ask him to leave before the pocket measuring was completed because she was unable to calm him down or help make him feel at ease at all during the procedure - he was freaking out. (Which didn't help his anxiety about dentists.) Dr. Nath is able to explain to my boyfriend what the plan is, what is happening when it's happening and why something needs to be done so that he doesn't even need to take any medication for his anxiety - basically he has NO anxiety when Dr. Nath is treating him now because Dr. Nath is such a great dentist and explains things very well to him. His anxiety didn't disappear instantly, but over time my boyfriend grew to trust Dr. Nath and Dr. Nath demonstrated that he has the patience to manage building that kind of dentist-patient relationship. I can tell he cares a lot about all of his patients. Dr. Nath helped fix a painful cap that the last dentist I had installed incorrectly that she ignored my complaints about for almost a year. I no longer have constant pain in my mouth which is always a good thing thanks to his reinstalling the cap correctly. And Dr. Nath recommended that I NOT get other caps on teeth that aren't bothering me at all that the previous dentist I saw told me were urgent to get. We've been seeing Dr. Nath for over a year. We won't go anywhere else for our dental needs. read more

Reading reviews for dentists on Yelp is *terrifying*: either you hear horror stories of dental care gone wrong ("The right side of my face was in agonizing pain... the left side was completely numb!"), scams where customers are upsold on unnecessary services ("deep cleaning" comes to mind), or the reviews are just too overwhelmingly positive to be trusted ("I just LOVED Dr. Teeth -- and after they finished cleaning my teeth I got a foot rub and a mocha latte!"). Needless to say, I was not looking forward to trying out a new dentist without a personal recommendation, especially given that I was already several years past my last scheduled service date. In light of all that, I will say that my experience at Rose City Dental Arts was "good." Not stellar, I'm not best buds with the Doc, but it was a totally reasonable and non-frightening experience. This time I just went in for a checkup and a cleaning. They first took X-rays, and reported that everything was fine except for one spot (which *I* pointed out to them) in need of a filling. No pressure to get the filling done the same day, and they were happy to schedule an appointment for the next week. They gave me a thorough cleaning, and even showed me "before" and "after" pictures of some particularly grungy spots (definitely an improvement). My chat with the Dr. was pretty brief, but I guess I'm used to that with both dentists and doctors these days. read more

About 10 years ago I had a very bad tooth ache. I had some very bad experiences with the dentist and I was putting off going until the pain was so bad I couldn't take it. Back then I looked up 1-800DENTIST. and I found DrNath. It was a Saturday I went in to see DrNath and explained to him I had very bad experiences with past dentists. He assured me he wouldn't hurt me and he would try and save my tooth. I needed a root canal. He was able to save my tooth. And he didn't hurt me. My whole family goes to Rose city Dental Arts. I trust Dr Nath. He just saved another tooth of mine just recently.He has the best bed side manner. And to me that's important and hard to find these days. I feel like all their staff is family. How can you not love this Dentist and his team?? Dr Nath is very sensitive to his patients fears and concerns. His team is amazing. Front girl, Viola, is so helpful!. She went over my insurance, procedures needed, expense and options in writing before anything was done. 5 crowns and Dr Nath was so sweet, patient and gentle! Hygienist was thorough and gentle. i never once felt like i was being sold a service i did not need. reading the other reviews i wonder if this practice changed hands because i have been to many Dental office's and at this one i felt at ease and not like i was being sold any unnecessary products or procedures. Wow what a shame, I have been coming here for the past 4 years since 2014, I drive 40 minutes from Diamond Bar, and I used to recommend this place to others! The facility inside is clean, the receptionist is friendly and I used to see Dr. Ranju Nath who did a great job. Then I started getting scheduled with Dr. Lucia Chia, who did not do as good of a cleaning job as Dr. Nath but it wasn't an issue. That is until these last two visits, that have been absolutely frustrating and what I believe to be horrible business practices. I came a month ago for my scheduled regular cleaning, Dr. Chia did an evaluation and recommended that I do a deep cleaning because my gums were "inflamed" but nothing noticeable or visible to myself. I said I was not ready to do the deep cleaning at that time and just wanted to do my regular scheduled cleaning. She INSISTED over and over and finally I gave into the pressure and agreed to come back next time for a deep cleaning in 2 weeks. No regular cleaning was performed at that time. After I reviewed the cost of the deep cleaning and what would not be covered by my insurance (hundreds!) I called back to say I could not do it at this time and wanted to schedule a regular cleaning. I got my reminder phone call from them in which I stated again that I just wanted to come in for a regular cleaning. Today, being the second time I took off work early to visit this dentist, they tell me AGAIN that they recommend a deep cleaning. I said I know it's recommended but I cannot afford it so I just want a regular cleaning. In which Dr. Lucia Chia refused. She said that is not what I am scheduled for today despite the several phone calls I made ahead of time. I said, "As a patient I have no option to choose a regular cleaning over a deep cleaning?" To which Chia flat out responded "No." and the receptionist said they cannot go against "Doctor's orders." Come on... this is not a life or death medial procedure. My mouth will be just fine with a regular cleaning. I said that is unfortunate and I would have to visit a different dental office that will allow me for a regular cleaning, and they let me walk out. How money pinching can your office get? Stop trying to SCAM customers and if they request and schedule a regular cleaning you should oblige. We are the paying customers after all! What a waste of my time and money to have to take two days off of work early, to both times be refused just a regular cleaning. And what a shame to the office to lose customers like me (and those I recommended will surely not be coming back) over trying to get more money. I've had x-rays, a check-up and cleaning, a tooth extraction (a fairly straight-forward wisdom tooth), and a filling done here recently. Staff was friendly and nice (not sure about "unnaturally" nice). I did have to wait 45 min. once, but I think there was an issue with a dentist-phobic customer in that case that backed everything up. Otherwise I haven't had to wait very long. The waiting room offers a refrigerator full of bottled water and a single-cup coffee machine, along with a million magazines. Those are nice touches. The dental experience itself was good. They have a neat camera that can take pictures of your cavities and show them to you on a computer screen, and you can watch TV while you wait or are worked on. The dentist and assistants explained what was happening to me very clearly and made sure I understood what was happening. My tooth extraction was easy and completely painless, and my filling was relatively so as well - just some jaw pain because of the pressure they put on my jaw - but nothing serious. Overall a great experience. I will definitely be telling my friends about them! read more

I went here for the Zoom! Teeth Whitening and it was awful! The office is really nice and it's a clean environment but the technicians are not overly friendly and lack a kind of bedside manner. The teeth whitening was extremely painful and I never expected it to be despite asking if it would. My teeth were definitely whiter immediately after the treatment but two days later they were back to their original color even though I did everything the dentist had told me to. It was such a rip-off plus the fact that I was in a lot of pain for about 12 hours following a teeth whitening. I will not be going back! read more

Appointment rescheduled twice and after waiting 45 minutes for my appointment they told me it was another half hour wait. The tech that does the cleanings also tend to do a half ass-ed job. This is not a great office but it's not too bad. I would have probably stuck with them if my insurance hadn't changed, but in retrospect I am glad it did (I found a better office). The good - I liked Dr. Nath. He seemed genuine, knowledgeable and did not oversell. He was the reason I wanted to stick with these folks. Overselling is such a problem in dentistry that I was very happy to have someone that was more interested in working with me on my health than selling me useless services. He did my crown, and it seems good. He knew about replacing old cracked fillings etc. The bad - I did not like that they booked cleaning and check up on separate days. This was an annoyance. The hygienist was ok but really pushed products - which offset Dr. Nath's chill attitude. Also when we did the crown, Dr. Nath was so concerned about not causing pain that he administered the anesthetic so slowly that it felt like I sat there for half hour before we even got started. I went for my 6 month cleaning and they took xrays again. Not sure how often you actually need the xrays, but felt like I just had them. Then the hygienist said I needed a deep cleaning, but it's not covered by my insurance until May. I said well I can come back then for the deep cleaning because I didn't want to spend an extra $400, especially if my insurance will cover it in 2-3 months. I paid my co-pay upfront, which I'll never do again because I didn't get the service I was paying for. After the hygienist said okay see you in May. I went to the front desk and asked why did I make an appointment for a 6 month cleaning if I'm not getting that now and why did I pay my co-payment. The lady talked to the hygienist and he took me back to give me my half ass cleaning because he didn't want to go deep and hurt me. Really I felt like he just want to bill me for the work and not do anything after I turned down the service. I felt like I was a number because it's never the same hygienist so the information I get is not consistent, they don't get to know you and because I turned down the extra service he didn't want to do his job. I had to schedule time off work to come and felt like I just wasted my time and money. They wanted to credit me $5 back or I can put it towards my next appointment in June. I said put it towards my appointment in June. I will let them redeem themselves one last time, but after my deep cleaning if I still feel like a number and that they are just trying to sell me expensive treatments I'll take my teeth and money else where. Whatever happened to where your neighborhood dentist makes you feel like part of the family. I've actually never seen the dentist only a different hygienist every time I go. read more

I'm only afraid of two things in this world, my Mother and the Dentist. :) The trick to this place for me is... NEVER let anyone except Dr. Nath work on your teeth. I've been coming here for a few years and any bad experiences I've had, have been with other Dr.'s. (Example: Hygienist or fill in Dr.) Knowing my fear, Dr. Nath was SUPER gentle, very comforting and so easy on the needle, that it was hardly felt. I've been ok-to-happy with the dental work I've received here; this review is in response to extremely shady business practices. If you have insurance, bring a schedule of fees and ask to see exactly what they plan to charge you for and how much before you let them do anything to your mouth. Learned the hard way that if there exists any option not covered by insurance, they will present it to you as the only option and just tell you this is how much it will cost. (Another reviewer mentions this too -- simple example is white vs black fillings on back teeth; the assistant simply came out and told me that with my insurance, filling would cost $$, without mentioning a different kind of filling IS covered with zero copay.) Fillings is one thing, but when you need more extensive work like my husband did, the difference can be in the thousands of dollars. I get that HMO plans are bad business; if you feel that way maybe stop accepting the patients rather than trying to swindle them. read more

The dentist was nice but the assistant who cleaned my teeth was terrible. 1) He did not introduce himself or tell me anything he was doing 2) When he did start telling me something it was with the drill on so I had no way of hearing what he was saying 3) When he went to scrape my bottom teeth he pushed off the bottom part of my gum with his other fingers and it felt like he was jamming his nails into the place where the lip and gum connect; when I complained he didn't apologize he just said he "had too" Well, I've been to dozens of dentists and I've never had an assistant position their hand like that even when "deep cleaning." 4) When he was done he didn't bother to floss my teeth to make sure the loose tarter hadn't gotten stuck. I have crowded teeth and other dental assistants have always flossed my teeth after clearing the tartar. 5) He used that buzzing polish tool which gets stuff everywhere then asked "Do you want to rinse?" Like anyone would want to swallow all that crap. So I was like "Uh, YEAH!" and he just pointed to the corner of the room and said "There's the sink." Real helpful- NOT. 6) He did before and after pictures but I had no idea what he was doing and he wasn't going to show me. I had to ask what he was doing to see them. The other thing I didn't like about this place is that I went online to ask for an appointment and I requested that they email me. Instead, they kept calling me to try and make an appointment. Because of my work I'm never home during their regular hours so this took much longer than it should have. Why have an online option if you're not going to use it? I give this place a D- The only reason I didn't give them an F is the doctor was nice. So maybe its better if you're getting work done but for just a cleaning go somewhere else. read more

I went here using a groupon. Full xrays exam and cleaning for $35! Everything was great. My appt was in early am so there was no wait at all. Everyone was very professional. And loved my teeth cleaning. Only thing is guess I have 1 cavity and the estimated cost was 170 with a discount. I think that's a lil high so I'll prob go back to my last dentist. read more

I do not like to write bad reviews, so here are just some facts. My first appointment was canceled, I had to come to the office to figure out that the doctor I was scheduled to see was not in. After I was evaluated on my second appointment to be needing a crown and another crown replacement, I was taken to a separate room by Melissa. She informed me that my insurance does not cover "lab fees" - $450 per crown - and that I need to pay it in full right away. Who charges for a service even before an appointment has been scheduled!? I said I will pay at the time of the appointment and called my insurance company; I have a Delta Dental plan and this doctor is in network so I wondered why would they not cover "lab fees". You guessed it, the insurance company confirmed there is no such thing. I called back to Melissa to ask what was the billing code for the "lab fees" so that insurance can look it up, she refused to give it to me and canceled my appointment. After few weeks of back-and-forth (I did not want to drop the office since I had to wait for my appointment for so long), Melissa informed me that she faxed the billing info to my insurance company for a pre-approval. You guessed it again, my insurance company never received it, which makes sense since they do not even have a fax number. After two visits and no work done, I am now looking for a new office and my tooth is starting to ache. This is simply unacceptable. My advice to you if you absolutely must go here, ask for a detailed copy of what you are being billed for, so that you can fight it with your insurance company later. My guess is, you will find some out of pocket "lab fees" on your bill too. read more

I came here based on a family referral. When I first pulled up I noticed the horrible paint on the exterior then was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to such a beautiful office. You wouldn't imagine the place being to clean and updated. I then met with the staff and the dentist and was able to actually look at x-rays and pics and have what was going on in my mouth explained (something my previous dentists rushed through). I had my teeth cleaned and they stayed open past closing hours and never rushed through the process. Natalyia was talkative the whole time and very friendly. She cleaned my teeth without pain and make them look and feel great! When I got the bill, they included what the individual costs would be for the work I needed done in the future. everything was clearly stated and broken out and they even offered an in-house payment plan! had a few small cavities and have already scheduled to have them filled next week. read more
