How did I end up at Rose Street Skateshop? All by happenstance, especially since I live in LA County. One day, I was googling a certain pair of Vans that I had been eyeing for awhile, but I knew that it would be a long shot since they had been sold out on the Vans website for months. I took a chance, Googled, and found a few websites that were selling them in the color I was looking for and in my size. Originally, I had been looking at 2 other sites and comparing prices and shipping costs, but as I scrolled further down, Rose Street Skateshop popped up. I love supporting indie shops and I called them right when it opened to ask a few questions before placing my order. My luck was that I was heading down to SD for a work conference and Rose Street Skateshop was on the way, so might as well stop by to pick up my order and try the shoes on in-person. The owner's wife answered the phone and she was so kind and answered all my questions. I placed the order online and made a note the dates I could stop by to pick-up my order. It really is their passion project, and they are not out to swindle their customers out of money. The cost of shipping is very reasonable, and I would have actually had the item shipped if I could not make it down. I stopped by and was greeted immediately by the owner as I stepped into the store. My order was stored away perfectly and I got to try them on in the store. The owner was awesome and even included a few stickers with my order. They also have a wonderful website and great email newsletters, the photos are great! If you live in the area, most definitely visit Rose Street Skateshop! They provide great customer service, are patient in answering any questions you have, and have quite the selection! read more

Treated me and my buddies like trash and we felt unwelcomed as if we were going to steal from this shop. I don't know if they racially profile a bunch of kids at a shop but this was definitely uncalled for and I will never come back to this store. Went there with my friend and owner disrespected him. Didn't let my friend set his skateboard on the shops musty counter. He also didn't want to sell us some skateboard wheels, basically saying we weren't real skaters. I wouldn't shop somewhere where they don't respect "all builds." Really dissapounted. I can not say enough good things about this skate shop. The owner is amazing, helpful and patient. He has so much knowledge about skate boarding it literally blows you away. I am not your typical skate boarder and I haven't been on a skate board in about 25 years, but I felt welcomed and confidant that I could get on a board again. Encinitas has a skate shop....about time!!! The shop reminds me of shops in New York/Brooklyn, it's got an awesome open vibe to it. The owner is from NY so it makes sense. It's true that you can get everything from fried pickles to an Irish wolfhound delivered straight to your doorstep. But you can't get the experience of walking into a local skateshop handed to you. The first time i walked into a store like this one i was twelve-yrs-old and i remember thinking that all the equipment, expertise and ooomph necessary to transform my oldnavy-wearing life was contained in the painted wood and bearings of this place. Locally-owned skateshop owners are also curators and supporters of new artists, designers and innovators. This is why local sub-cultures flourish or flounder alongside these shops. While my fashion never got much better i still believe in the transformative potential and community-building of spaces like these. Show them some love. read more

Best skateshop in town they have a good board selection and they are up to date with skating brands they have good shop merchandise that looks good there shop decks are super good it took me about 2/5 months for it to crack and eventually snap and most boards only last me a month or so.
