We had a fantastic evening at Rosebud's! We started in the cozy Speakeasy bar, where the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The bartenders were incredibly friendly, and the 2-for-1 happy hour house drinks were perfect and under $10 each--a great way to begin the night. For dinner, I ordered Steak Diane, which was the evening's special, and it was absolutely to die for--perfectly prepared and full of flavor. My wife loved her Eggplant Parmesan and said it was one of the best she's had. Our server, Karen, struck the perfect balance of being attentive without ever being intrusive, making the entire dining experience relaxed and enjoyable. Just came from dinner after meeting up with my family there. I've been there many years before when family lived nearby. Now it's a good spot to meet out spread out family from Sarasota and we're in Venive Well not disappointing at all , the ambiance is very nice the food was outstanding and deserts were a big hit My prime rib was cooked and presented perfectly and spiced just right and perfect medium rare We decided we're coming back soon . Old school steakhouse vibes without the quality. Clientele seemed heavily weighted on the 65+ crowd. We sat at a table that had portrait-like pictures of cows on the wall, which felt very bizarre considering most people were eating steak... like, almost in memorium lol. Anyway, service was ok but drinks were not good. I had an espresso martini and the glass was wet and coated in sugar. I got the macadamia chicken salad and it was enormous, nice presentation but the coating on the chicken was kind of soggy. My Mom's scallop & shrimp risotto was almost inedible - I could only eat a bite because the risotto was so rich and oversalted. The scallop was good but there were only 3. The French onion soup was outstanding! The tuna appetizer was perfect! I had the best chicken Marsala I've ever had in my life! It was super tender best flavored sauce and huge mushrooms. You can't beat the 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour 3-6pm. My husband had the veal parm and enjoyed it. We have not eaten the carrot cake yet or chocolate cake but the pieces are huge. Rosebud's is in a stand-alone building, which has become rare in today's business. I liked the atmosphere of the place. On our way to our table, the desserts are on display. The person sitting us got left as everyone was looking at the dessert case. The menu is simple enough with many choices for the people. I ordered their Royal Cut prime rib with Caesar salad. I had another vegetable choice, but nothing really stood out as something I wanted. I just went with the salad and the entrée. The prime rib looks rare in the picture, but it might have been a little on the done side. I enjoyed the prime rib and salad, and thought it was a good choice. I ate at Rosebuds tonight and had kinda mixed review feelings. We had a server named Tom and he was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet, comfortable and classy. The menu was full of pretty over priced stuff. I went with the filet mignon. For just under 50 bucks it was pretty small. It was definitely tender and cooked very well. Just didn't have much flavor. Like they just don't use much for seasoning or spices. Pretty disappointing. I had steak fries that were just kinda boring. Steamed broccoli and that was ok. We didnt ask for or even mention dessert, but they bring out a tray with one of everything to try to get ya to have some. I didnt even look at the prices on those, but was already just not happy with their food and not wanting anything else there. Food, food, FOOD!!! The staff is quick to seat you, quick to take your order, and kitchen to table time is minimal. Their oysters Rockefeller cannot be topped. Even their oysters on the half shell are plump, good size and sweet. Salmon is excellent. Husband loves their filet mignon. Son loves their chicken piccata. The only not great item was a silver patron margarita that tasted like watered down sour mix. And it was 15.00! Won't order a mixed drink from there again. Definitely make reservations. Patronized this restaurant for the 14 years we lived in Venice. Was my "go-to" place for a nice meal, even a birthday celebration. Now - not so much. Had the Delmonico steak. Tough, overdone (I ordered MR and it came MW). Also pricy for a steak that is "certified Black Angus". Black Angus is a brand, not a quality. To my knowledge, their beef is now downgraded from prime and choice to something lower. Too bad. I'd rather pay more for a good steak rather than them cutting the quality of their servings to keep price down. read more

4.5 Rosebuds is a local steakhouse that my in laws love and frequent often. While on vacation in Venice, my husband and I had a date night there. We had a reservation for a Wednesday night at 7pm. No wait for our table, and prompt service. Started with their Candied Pecan Old Fashioned, which was tasty. We didn't get a starter, as we did not want to get overly full before our entrees.The side salad with my husband's meal was large enough to share. My husband had the Queen Prime Rib, and I had the Delmonico Ribeye. We had creamed spinach and baked potato sides. The creamed spinach was not out of this world great, but good. My ribeye was cooked to my request of medium-rare, and at first I couldn't figure out why they would serve the ribeye with the fried onions - but turned out those fried onions paired very well with the ribeye. We shared a mile high carrot cake, which honestly can be shared between 4 people! It was good, a bit too dense for my preference, but not overly sweet and frosting ratio was just right. I would not rank Rosebuds as a high end steakhouse, BUT at the same time the value coupled with the quality of the food and service make for a very good restaurant and experience. read more

My wife and I had reservations for 7:45 we got there at 7:35 and even though the place was packed, we got seated right away. The wait staff was excellent, within a minute they were getting us drinks, gave us time to review the menu and got our apps in a timely manner.We never had to ask for anything water refills came without asking. Great steakhouse experience. I got the tuna tartar for an appetizer, is was a nice smooth melt in your mouth piece of tuna. They offer 3 cuts of steak. The prime rib (4-5) different sizes. The top sirloin and my favorite the filet mignon. The filet was perfectly cooked and i had a great steak house baked potato. I ordered the French onion soup and it was so think it was like gravy, almost pudding consistency and lacked the warm broth onion flavor. I ordered the Seafood risotto and it was not smooth and creamy it was all stuck together like cold oatmeal with 3 small shrimp and three tiny scallops onto. The whole thing was barely warm. I was there for someone's birthday so I didn't say anything that night. Not even cheap diner quality food. I went to Rosebuds once before, I had chicken and as I remember, it was fine. Service was Impeccable. Food was Horrible. We ordered a medium cooked filet. I even asked the waiter about what Rosebuds considers medium versus medium rare. I was told medium has pink; medium rare has some red. So we ordered medium. It came out so well done that I could not eat the chewy thing. The creamed spinach was swimming in so much cream that I could not find the spinach. The baked potato was good, but I can easily do that at home. Oh, the bread was good too. They charged us stupid fees for blue cheese and a sharing fee. This place is an overpriced wanna-be real steakhouse. It has long seen it's day. We will never go back, even if friends want to go. The waiter was rather pushy and rude by talking over us with an authoritative demeanor. He was asked why the Chicken Marsala was served without noodles and he abruptly responded "that's how we serve it here" In America most Chicken Marsala dish preparation is served with something other than just chicken. The drinks we received a Vodka Tonic and Moscow Mule were made with excessive ice (over the top of glass and cup) which leaves vary little room for mix or liquor. That was our first time dining there and will be our last. It takes years to gain a client base in business and that waiter acts if he will choose how someone will be treated. Exceptional food very pricey temperature extremely cold considering outside was about 107 inside was 70. If you want to make people sick it's a good way you only need a five degree drop in temperature to get comfortable it's absolutely uncomfortable inside We froze it was my Dad's 93rd birthday It's dark inside beside the temperature being uncomfortably cold. Service took awhile a very long while so we were freezing by then. I am I'll due to the issue of abnormal temperatures difference in places such as this most aren't this ridiculously cold and I don't just mean for myself I mean for all six of us. They put a few miniature tables outside on 41= why I don't know because they can make a nice patio atmosphere out back. I would love that anyway my dad loved his food which is why I picked it I knew he would it's his 93rd birthday god bless him I hope they look up the information on the different temperatures and how they effect your body otherwise it was a nice meal read more

After living in the area for almost three years my wife and I decided it was time to try a local steakhouse. Rosebud's didn't disappoint! We both had the prime rib and it was excellent with sides of baked potato and cream corn. The corn was the vegetable of the day but it needs to be on the menu permanently. SO DISAPPOINTIING. They of all cooks one would think could make good burger. I ordered salad (I'll get to that) with child's burger and side of steak fries. The burger was thin seriously overcooked piece of shoe leather. It was not edible. I am not exaggerating it was tough. Thin and very overcooked. The steak salad was ok. Strange but ok. It was a clump of romaine woth several tomatoes, fried onions and nuts if some sort. Blue cheese, balsamic and. Dressing was on side. It was ok. I would not order again though. There were so few steak fries I had to look under the bun for and oh, by the way I hsd asked for no bun too. This cost over $40. It was very much not worth the cost. Again the burger was not edible. One would think that they could get this right. I zmglad I now know as I had wanted to get gift certificates several times but could never find open. Not sire what hours are but it is not open every day or every night. There are limited hours. Now I eouldbnever get a gift certificate and would have been embarrassed if I had. Save your money. Overpriced and outdated atmosphere. I had the fried oysters because after our table ordered the waiter came back 15 minutes later and told me they were out of my original order which was Mahi mahi. I know eating out is expensive now but if I'm going to pay $100 for a meal then I'd like to at least be able to eat it. The creamed spinach was soupy and the potato croquets were weird and inedible. The kids meal sirloin steak was $18.99- at Outback it is $9.99. So many other options out there I would skip this one. Nothing stood out. read more

I've been to Rosebud's twice. Both times in the lounge. First time was so so. The second time was a disaster. 3 plus hours. I ordered Baked Stuffed Shrimp . I asked several times where my order was. After over an hour they told me they were out of shrimp. So, I ordered Tournedos and broccoli and a salad. That dish was good. Also, Both visits I had garden salads that were very disappointing. When it came to the check I asked the bartender if I could get some consideration on my bill for the poor service. She said there was nothing she could do and charged me full price. This bad experience aside, I would not go back simply because it's just not that good and not a good value. There's plenty of other better restaurants to choose from. Over priced and overrated. FTR. We have gone there on a regular basis, but things are changing, and not for the better. When we made the reservation we asked for a booth. When we arrived we were giving a table in the center isle near the serving area entrance. As a result, we had servers bumping our chair and barking orders to the bussers. There were booths available. Our server, Julia K. appeared to have too many tables and, as a result she was abrupt and far from attentive. Our drink glasses were sticky as a result of having the drinks spilled during delivery. Our appetizer special was very good. The salmon main was delicious. The veal piccata was very salty with very little veal and way too many mushrooms. The side of spinach tasted very strongly of teriyaki, which was an ingredient in one of their specials that night! This has been one of our go-to restaurants for many years. Obviously, now the culture is changing there - close enough is good enough or we are now all about slinging the food and not providing the service. What a shame! read more

Great spot! A few little kinks but overall good. It a little while to get the drinks out but it was dinner time on a Sunday night. I had to send my Mussel FraDiavolo back because it came out with barely any sauce but otherwise delicious. They had a nice variety for the kids. Steaks was cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was good she went through all specials and suggestions for drinks the delays were not her fault. Leave room for dessert!! They were all delicious. T said the bbq was the best she's ever had. a bit sweeter than perfect but still excellent. mussels marinara were good. marinara sauce is a sweet sauce but not overly so. mussels were done just right. my piccata was lemon and capers with no salt hit. and the caper lemon balance was appreciated! no butter screwed with things either. sides of croquets - amazing! took one home to have later. crunchy with super amazing filling. both pasta sides were okay but nothing special. the garlic oil sauce was very very oily. the marinara on the side was NOT the chunky version in the mussels. i had even saved the mussel sauce for bread dipping. cold martinis; beautiful bar. great service. what's not to like?! we'll be back. read more

Nice atmosphere! Great service! Drinks were well made! French onion soup was very good with a lot of cheese. Whitefish Piccata was excellent! Cooked perfectly, nicely seasoned. Good balance of flavors. Prime rib was different than I was expecting. It appears they age their prime rib as well? Perhaps everyone does that and it's never been spelled out before. However, the taste and texture varied from previous prime ribs I've gotten elsewhere. It did seem to be "more aged". A little drier with a grainier texture. It was certainly extremely tender, though! Needed salt and pepper. I got both the creamy and straight horseradish and used both. Overall a very good meal. read more

An over-rated restaurant outside of Venice, Florida. We'd all flown into Sarasota and Ft. Myers airports staying in Nokomis for several days of birthday celebrations. This night we were a party of 10. While this is a big place, it's composed of several smaller dining areas. The atmosphere is classic steakhouse - dark wood with booths and free-standing tables. We were seated right away. The menu is overly large: specials; steaks; ribs; chicken; pork; lamb; seafood; Italian; and a few Chinese-style dishes. We ordered drinks, no appetizers and eight different main courses. Drinks were limited to wine, selected from a decent list. You can't go wrong there. However, not all the orders were taken correctly and only one of the dishes was worthwhile. Hence, my comment about the overly large menu: steakhouses serve steaks and a few other dishes on the side; seafood places serve fish, with a few other dishes; Italian places may have fish as part of a dish and may have a steak. Chinese-style??? The low quality of the food makes this menu overpriced. That said, service was quick and polite. There is limited parking near the front entry; most parking is in a large lot at the rear. Entry and exit from the northbound roadway; there's a grass median separating the southbound lanes.
